JORDAN
John J. Jordan Sr., 93, of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Louise (Gardzienski) Jordan, died peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2000.
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Dmytro and Mary (Cwikla) Jordan and lived in East Hartford most of his life. John retired as a typesetter from Eastern Typesetting in Hartford, and was a member of the Polish National Home in Hartford. He also served valiantly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John J. Jordan Jr. and his wife, Judy, of East Hartford, and Edward Jordan and his wife, Kerrie Gilligan Jordan, of South Windsor; and one dear granddaughter, Amber Jordan. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Jordan, and two sisters, Anna Kuduk and Nettie Holowesko.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford.
Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 26, at the funeral home.

MISIASZEK
Mary M. (Pyznar) Misiaszek, 91, of Vernon Avenue in the Rockville section
of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Walter P. Misiaszek, died Monday, April 24, 2000, in Manchester.
Mary was born in Windsor Locks, daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Karp) Pyznar, and had lived in Rockville since 1957. She had been employed by the former Montgomery Co., Windsor Locks.
She is survived by two brothers, Charles and Theodore Pyznar, both of Windsor Locks; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Jacob, Joseph, and Stanley "Steve" Pyznar; and two sisters, Julia Pastormerlo and Adeline Dzurich.
Relatives and friends may gather at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 28, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, for a procession to St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard, Mass.
Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the funeral home.
MESSIER
Jean (McGuire) Messier, also known fondly by many as Jen, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2000, with her family by her bedside at home. She was the loving wife of the late Harold E. Messier.
She was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Hartford to the late Jennie and John McGuire. She later lived in South Windsor and Westbrook, and later spent her winters in Jensen Beach, Fla. She had resided in Manchester for the past six years of her life. She was a former member of Pleasant Valley Club, and was a member of the Elks Emblem Club and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed traveling, baking, and knitting hats and blankets for her grandchildren and patients in hospitals and convalescent homes.
Jean leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Richard Messier of East Windsor, Kimball and his wife, Carol Messier, of Bolton, and Jerome and Alan Messier, both of Jensen Beach; six grandchildren, Richard, John, Kimberly, Kristy, Davis, and Jenny Lee Messier; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Ellen McNamara of California; and her many friends at 10 Ada Lane, Manchester. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Joseph McGuire.
A memorial Mass will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at The Church of
Assumption, 285 W. Center St., Manchester.

SALAFIA
Anthony L. Salafia, 81, of Manchester, husband of Elizabeth (Hansen) Salafia, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
He was born in New Britain, the son of Louis and Anna (Perez) Salafia, and lived in Manchester 50 years. He was a self-employed hairdresser for 32 years in the Hartford and Manchester areas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Center Congregational Church UCC, Manchester. He loved to play golf, and was a member of the seniors in Manchester and the AARP 1275.
Besides his wife of 59 years, he leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony L. and Karen Salafia Jr. of Florida, and Mark P. and Joanne Salafia of Manchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Bourque of Kentucky; four sisters, Sarah Veneziano of Kensington, Rose Morin of Bristol, Jean Duckworth of Florida, and Terry Orzel of Unionville; grandchildren, Amy Little and her husband, John, Anthony L. Salafia III and his wife, Heather, and Amy's and Anthony's mother, Connie C. Salafia; and grandchildren, Leslie Manning. Robert Bourque Jr. and wife, Phara, Todd Salafia
and Anne Salafia; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the funeral home.

MOORE
Charles W. "Charlie" Moore, 79, of Holmes Road, Stafford Springs, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs.
He was born in Stafford Springs, son of the late Charles H. and Harriet (Werner) Moore. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. Charles was a retired professor at Brandeis University, Theater of Arts, Waltham, Mass. During his career he taught acting and directing at the University of Kansas, Kansas City, Kan., Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, and Brandeis University.
Charles is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Roger and Jean Moore of Sharon; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Robinson Gaylord of Asheville, N.C.; three nephews; four nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
A funeral service will be private with no calling hours.
Burial will be in Stafford Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

STARKES
Gertrude L. Starkes, 86, of Franklin Park West, Vernon, widow of John Starkes, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at home.
She was born and raised in Boston, and made her home in Vernon for the past 10 years. She retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in 1979, where she was a secretary.
She is survived by her daughter, Gertrude Waters of South Windsor; her daughter-in-law, Janet Lynch of East Hartford; her niece, Dorothy Winslow of Dedham, Mass.; four grandchildren, Debra Zandonella and Scott Waters, both of South Windsor, Mark Lynch of Richmond, Va., and William Lynch of Belmont, Mass.; nine great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and five stepchildren, including John Starkes of West Hartford. She was predeceased by a son, Walter F. Lynch Jr.; a grandson, Donald Waters; and a sister, Margaret Lynch.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 29, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin St., Manchester.

ODOM-TODD
Helen (Kuchenski) Odom-Todd, 78, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of Darrell E. Todd, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at her home.
Born Aug. 24, 1921, in Manchester, daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine (Zakrzewski) Kuchenski, she had been a resident of Vernon since 1985. Mrs. Todd was the former owner/operator of the Helen Odom Antique Shop for many years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church in Manchester.
Besides her husband, Darrell, she is survived by three stepdaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles E. Odom.
A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be private in St. John Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.

Sharon Lawton Casey, born Feb. 13, 1942, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in North Fort Myers, Fla. Burial has taken place in Selts Mills Cemetery, Carthage, N.Y. Friends and family will gather at a memorial service to celebrate her special life at noon Saturday, April 29, at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester.
BERGAMINI
Frederick "Fred" Bergamini of Enfield, died Saturday, April 8, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; his children, Cristina, Regina, Carlo and his wife, Lisa, Rosetta, Angela and her husband, Shawn and their daughter, Samantha, Vinnie and his wife, Marcy and their children, Zachary, Alexis, and Alyssa, Fred and his wife, Tracy, and Mary.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at St. Martha Church, 214 Brainard Road, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery.
