BEDNARZ
James B. Bednarz, 40, of Windsor Locks died suddenly Friday, March 31, 2000.
He was born in Hartford, son of Phyllis (Brancroft) Bednarz of Windsor Locks and the late Sigmund Bednarz. He lived in Windsor Locks all his life.
He was employed by Pine Meadow Machine Co. of Windsor Locks. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Thompsonville Lodge.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Thomas and his wife, Carol, of Windsor Locks; Paul and his wife, Deborah, of Marlborough; a sister, Diane Lech and her husband, Lawrence, of Broad Brook; nephews Brian, Justin and Jordan Bednarz, and Christopher Brownlie; nieces Laura Bednarz and Julie Lech; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

BOUCHARD
Michael J. Bouchard, 29, of Vernon, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Rockville General Hospital.
He was born in Rockville, son of Roger and Dolores (Dobosz) Bouchard.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Brenda Bouchard of Arvada, Colo., and Lisa Beron of Storrs; his nephew, Thomas Beron; his niece, Aubrey Ann Moreno; his maternal grandmother, Stella Dobosz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church. Burial will in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the funeral home.
CHAPPELL
George B. Chappell, 98, and Catherine (Hogan) Chappell, 93, husband and wife for 72 years, formally of Enfield St., Enfield, died peacefully within a few hours of each other on Friday, March 31, 2000, at Evergreen Health Care.
George was born in Manchester, England, and was a longtime resident of the community, having been employed by Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co., Colt Firearms, Hamilton Standard Div. of U.T.C., and M.H. Rhodes Inc. before retiring 25 years ago.
Catherine was born in Suffield and lived in Enfield most of her life.
They were communicants of St. Patrick Church.
George and Catherine are survived by two sons, George T. Chappell of Stafford Springs and Bruce M. Chappell of Enfield; two daughters, Mary E. Sarno and Joan C. Smilgys, both of Enfield; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. They were predeceased by a son, John Donald Chappell, who died in 1986. George was also predeceased by two brothers, Cecil and Gordon Chappell, and two sisters, Anna and Rebecca Chappell. Catherine was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Hogan, and two sisters, Mary Hendsey and Margaret McKenna.
Family and friends will gather for a funeral procession at 9:30 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery.
George's and Catherine's families will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, Monday 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
COUTU
Joseph "Al" G. Coutu, 72, of Barbara Drive, Windsor Locks, beloved husband of 47 years of Loraine (Duclos) Coutu, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Hartford Hospital.
He was born and raised in Springfield, son of the late Philadolph and Cecilia (Champagne) Coutu, and attended Norwich Academy in Vermont and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. He was a civil engineer and worked as a fire protection engineer at Industrial Risk Insurance Co. in Hartford for 38 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, served in the choir and was a lector. He was a member of Riverside Council No. 26, Knights of Columbus, was a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader, and served in the Army.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Ann Marie Nevelos and her husband, Richard, of Vernon, Cecile Coutu at home, Norman Coutu at home, Denise Coutu and her fiancee, Edward Wilson, of Havelock, N.C., and Andrew Coutu and his fiancee, Vicki Wheeler, of Southwick, MA; four grandchildren, Daniel A. Nevelos and his fiancee, Becky Johnson, Carol Ann Nevelos and her husband, Tim Shuteran, Joel Coutu, and Dennis Wilson; his sister, Sister Lucy Coutu of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd of New York City; a special niece, Patty Dieterich of Jessep, MD, and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Jeanette Cahill, predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks followed by a procession to St. Mary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
His family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
GRANATO
Sally Ann P. (Kvadas) Granato, 54, of Manchester, the wife of George "Frank" Granato Jr., died suddenly in her sleep at home on Friday, March 31, 2000.
Born in Hartford, the daughter of Marie (Hoha) Kvadas of Manchester and the late Anthony J. Kvadas, she was a lifelong resident of Manchester. Sally Ann was a graduate of Manchester High School Class of 1963 and a former employee of Manchester Manor. She was employed at N.T. Oliva Inc., of East Hartford.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Anthony G. and Kristi Granato of South Glastonbury, Aaron M. and Jennifer Granato of Ellington, two grandchildren, Travis Chase Granato and McKenzie Lee Granato; her brother Anthony J. and Ann Kvadas III, of Manchester; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption Manchester. Burial will be private.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

HIGGINS
Elijah Reilly Higgins, infant son of Thomas R. and Julie Cournoyer Higgins of Enfield, died at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington on March 30, 2000.
He is survived by his paternal grandfather, William M. Higgins; maternal grandparents, Yolaine and Gerald Cournoyer of Enfield; paternal great-grandparents, Alfred and Katherine Higgins of Enfield; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Ellen Reilly Higgins.
A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery, Enfield, at the convenience of the family.
Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, is handling arrangements.

KELLEHER
Mary (McIntyre) Kelleher, 80, of Sandburg Loop, Plant City, Fla., formerly of Enfield, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Plant City, Fla. She was the widow of Andrew C. Kelleher, who died in 1996.
Born in Fall River, Mass., Mary was a former resident of James Street, Enfield for many years, moving to Florida in 1997. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she had been employed at the former Choice Vend of Windsor Locks for 15 years. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Enfield and a member of the Rosary Guild of the church.
Mary is survived by two sons, Timothy Kelleher and his wife, Diane, of Toronto, and Robert and his wife, Mary, of Davenport, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Gilbert and her husband, Peter, of Plant City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sean and Alyson Kelleher and Ryan Gilbert; two brothers, James McIntyre of Somerset, Mass. and Timothy McIntyre of Athens, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Helen McIntyre of Taunton, Mass. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ross Gilbert.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the Leete- Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook.
Mary's family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the funeral home.

KIRK
Joyce M. (Keane) Kirk, 59, of Hampden, Mass., died on Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Olympus Health Care Group. She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Kirk, who died in 1987.
She leaves two sons, Thomas D. Smith of Palm Bay, Fla., and Timothy M. Smith of Broad Brook; a daughter, Tammy Hallihan, of Hampden; one brother, Thomas Keane of Chicopee; two sisters, Pat Weidersheim of Somers, and Lois Hiller of East Longmeadow, Mass.; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Wilbraham Funeral Home, followed by burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Hampden. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.

ROHRBACH
Carl Rohrbach, 79, of Manchester, husband of the late, Barbara (Keeney) Rohrbach, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born July 16, 1920, in Buffalo, son of the late, Charles and Josephine (Eichorn), Rohrbach had been a resident of Manchester since 1942.
Mr. Rohrback was a graduate of the University of Michigan, Class of 1942. He was employed with Hamilton Standard for more than 45 years, retiring as Chief of Aerodynamics and Acoustics, and was a recipient of the George Mead Medal for Engineering Achievement in 1983. He was also co-inventor of the multi-bladed, high speed prop fan, securing its patent in 1979.
After his retirement in 1987 from UTC, he became a reading tutor at Buckley Elementary School in Manchester. Mr. Rohrbach was an active member of the Second Congregational Church in Manchester, and was a member of many of the church's committees. He was active with Manchester Little League, the local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, and a member of Toastmasters.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jack Hughes of Manchester; two sons, Carl Rohrbach Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Somers, and David H. Rohrbach of Manchester; a brother, William Rohrbach and his wife, Adele, of East Aurora, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Skip Keeney and his wife, Helen, of Fort Piece, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kristin Chadha and her husband, Ravi, Kerry Rohrbach, David Rohrbach, Kelly Knowlton and her fiancee, Pete Trudelle, Jeffrey Knowlton, Michael Rohrbach, Christine Hughes, and Daniel Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Second Congregational Church, 385 North Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, April 2, 4 to 7 p.m., at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.

SALEMI
Mary Ann (Zimei) Salemi, 77, of East Hartford, beloved wife and widow of Pasquale J. Salemi, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at home.
Mary Ann, a kind and gentle soul, was the last of five children born to Luigi and Elisabetta (Santini) Zimei, of what was once known as Front Street in Hartford. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, lifelong homemaker, loyal friend and gracious hostess to all who knew her. She was a longtime resident of East Hartford and a major degree member of the Rev. J.C. Martin No. 3901 Columbiettes. She is predeceased by two brothers, Bruno and Edwin Zimei; a sister, Ida Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Donna M. Salemi.
Mrs. Salemi is survived by her two children, Pasquale "Bud" Salemi and Judith S. Craig; son-in-law James B. Craig; three grandsons, Nicholas C. Salemi, John P. Salemi, and Patrick J. Craig; a granddaughter, Sally A. Rollins and her husband, Robert C. Rollins; and a great-granddaughter, Cassandra J. Rollins, all of East Hartford; a sister, Eleanor Lombardo of Rocky Hill and many dear nieces, nephews and godchildren, especially Laurie Lombardo, her niece and hospice nurse.
Funeral services will be at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, April 3, at Callahan's Funeral Home, 1602 Main St., East Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford.
Calling hours will be Sunday, April 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
