John F. "Jack" VanLangen,

a Stamford resident, has died. His body was found Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 in Darien. He was 59.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Born June 9, 1941, in Stamford, he was the son of Dorothy DeVincent VanLangen of Stamford and the late George VanLangen.

Mr. VanLangen graduated from Stamford High School in 1959. He played on the 1958 state championship football team. He attended the University of Connecticut and was a third-degree Knight of Columbus, Council No. 41.

He was a U.S. Postal Service clerk before retiring.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Joyce VanLangen Patten and Lorraine VanLangen, both of Stamford; and two nieces.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien.

Memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Police Association, 805 Bedford St., Stamford, Ct 06901; or the charity of one's choice.

Margaret "Peggy" R. Lyons,

a Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at The Greenery Health Care Center in Chesire. She was 64.

She died of complications from Alzheimer's disease, according to her family.

Born June 28, 1936, in The Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Gus and Marian Leopold.

Ms. Lyons was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, William Lyons of Euless, Texas , and John Lyons of Key West, Fla.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial Mass will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.

Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Mary Ellen Masilotti,

a Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 59.

She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family.

Born March 25, 1941, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose Marie Piasecki Fortunato.

Mrs. Masilotti worked at Cadbury Beverage Company in Stamford before retiring. She was a communicant at St. Leo's Church in Stamford.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Lee Bella of Stamford; a son, William J. Masilotti III of Stamford; three brothers, Anthony Fortunato of Ossining, N.Y., and Robert Fortunato and Nicholas Fortunato, both of Greenwich; and four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Masilotti Jr.; and a sister, Carol Slater.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, and proceed to St. Leo's Church, 24 Roxbury Road, for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Mary Harrington Kelleher,

a New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 94.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born June 12, 1906, in County Cork, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Sullivan Harrington.

Mrs. Kelleher is survived by four daughters, Mary Helbock of Staten Island, N.Y., Kathleen Illonardo of Avon-By-The-Sea, N.J., Eleanor Murphy of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Dorothy O'Brien of New Canaan; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Kelleher; and a daughter, Margaret M. Kelleher.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 5, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at St. Aloysius Church, 40 Maple St., New Canaan.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.

Virginia Marie DiCarlo,

a Stamford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 84.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born June 15, 1916, in Newburgh, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Celestine and Louise Spignardo Crudele.

She owned The Shed gift store in Stamford in the 1970s. She was a past member of The Ladies Auxiliary of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, N.Y.

Mrs. DiCarlo is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph DiCarlo of Stamford; a son, Charles DiCarlo of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Maryanne Dolan of Stamford; a sister, Jennie Favata of Newburgh; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000 at St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Arthur C. Barnes,

a New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at home. He was 53.

He died of a heart attack, according to his family.

Born March 27, 1947, in Easton, Pa., he was a son of the late Carl and Sarah Edwards Barnes.

Mr. Barnes was a chemical consultant with Puritek Corp. in New Jersey.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master's degree from the University of Denver.

He is survived by a brother, Richard Barnes of Kennebunkport, Maine; a sister, Louise Barnes of New Canaan; and an aunt.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at St. Mark's Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan.

Burial will be in Maine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corp., South Ave., New Canaan, CT 06840.

The Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, is handling arrangements.

FRANCES J. DePINO
WALLINGFORD — Frances J. DePino, 82, of Silver Pond Apartments, 656 Center St., formerly of Bridgeport and New Haven, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Elim Park Health Care in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Frank A. DePino.
Mrs. DePino was born in Calabria, Italy, Aug. 25, 1915, a daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette Tirreno, and had resided in Bridgeport and in New Haven for many years before moving to Wallingford in 1985. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marian and Robert Boucher of Wallingford, Laura DePino of East Haven, and Jeanette and Michel Gilbert of Warwick, R.I.; her son, Jerry DePino of Milford; her two grandsons, Matthew Boucher and Thomas Fiander; her sister, Vivian Antolics of Bridgeport; her brother, C. Lawrence Tirreno of Westport; and several nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, from 10:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Milford, CT 06450.

JOSEPH J. KUSZA
MERIDEN — Joseph J. Kusza, 83, of 841 N. Colony Road, husband of the late Katherine (Orzech) Kusza, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Meriden Care and Rehab Center.
Born in Meriden on March 19, 1915, he was the son of the late John C. and Anna (Surowiecka) Kusza.
He was a lifelong resident of Meriden, attended local schools, and was employed by International Silver Co. for many years.
Mr. Kusza was the first Meriden volunteer called to service by the U.S. Army for World War II.
He was very patriotic with a strong love of God and country.
He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, a member of the Polish Falcons Club, the V.F.W. and the Eagles Club.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marianne Kusza and her husband, David Morin of Plantsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jay and Barbara Kusza of Wallingford; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Andrew (Kendra) Fowle of New Castle, Del., Kerri Lynn Kusza, Janine Elizabeth Kusza, and Aaron Joseph Kusza, all of Wallingford, and by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kusza was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine and Rose Kusza, and by a brother, Julius Kusza.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

DOMENIC PALAZZO
SOUTHINGTON — Domenic Palazzo, 35, of 425 W. Center St., died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1963, in Bonea, Italy, son of Felice and Grazia (Cesere) Palazzo.
He had graduated from Southington High School, class of 1981, and was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Joseph Palazzo; and two sisters, Susan Palazzo and Donna Tinyzin and brother-in-law, Victor, all of Southington; a niece, Samantha, and a nephew, Victor; an uncle, Michael Palazzo; three aunts, Victoria Corley, Antoinette Perone and Connie Iacobucci.
The funeral will be held Saturday 9:30 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10:15 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday (today) from 5 to 8 p.m.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Visiting Nurses of Central Connecticut, P.O. Box 1327, New Britain, CT 06050.

JENNIE PELOSI
WATERBURY — Jennie A. Pelosi, 90, of 239 N. Walnut St., wife of the late Santo Pelosi, died on Thursday morning, July 30, 1998, at Abbott Terrace Convalescent Home in Waterbury.
Born in Pennsylvania on Nov. 28, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Annunciata (Cavasini) Albertelli.
She was educated in the Pennsylvania system and lived in Meriden until moving to Waterbury four years ago.
Mrs. Pelosi was employed by Connecticut Telephone in Meriden and was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Dimitri Rozum of Waterbury with whom she made her home; a son and daughter-in-law, Nello and Kathleen Pelosi of Meriden; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a brother, Dominick Albertelli of Ehrenfeld, Pa.
Mrs. Pelosi was predeceased by a daughter, Louise Fuller Byich, and by a son, Angelo Pelosi.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 3, at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Laurent Church, 121 Camp St., Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
