Thomas Celentano, 58 of 20 Cortina Road, East Haven, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2006, Born in New Haven July 2, 1948, he was the son of Louis J. Celentano of New Haven and the late Philomena “Fay” Piscitelli Celentano.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, Wooster Square, Saturday morning at 9:00. Interment will be in St Lawrence Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Marrakech, 6 Lunar Drive, Woodbridge, CT 06525.

MAURO, DOMONIC A.
April 13, 2006
Domonic A. Mauro Jr., 50, of State St., Hamden, died peacefully on April 13, 2006. Born in New Haven Nov. 26, 1955, he was the son of Domonic A. Mauro Sr. of Branford and the late Carol M. Izzo Mauro. Mr. Mauro worked at various times as a limousine driver. Beside his father, he is survived by 2 sisters, Donna Mauro of Orlando, FL. and Michele Christian of Cheshire; niece & nephews, Carol & David Palumbo of Orlando and Joey & Luke Christian of Cheshire.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven Monday morning at 9:20. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

BLATCHLEY, ROBERT M.
April 13, 2006
Robert M. Blatchley, 69, of 155 Schaffer Road, Bethany, died April 13, 2006 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Helen Basilio Blatchley. Mr. Blatchley, son of the late William & Alice Malone Blatchley, was born in New Haven Dec. 7, 1936. He was employed as a driver for the US Postal Service for 16 years until his retirement 5 years ago. Prior to that, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Mesa Construction Co. for more than 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with family & friends and enjoyed card games. Beside his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, New Haven Firefighter Michael R. Blatchley of Bethany and Marc M. (Jennifer) Blatchley of Miami, FL.; a brother, James (Beverly) Blatchley of Hallandale, FL.; 3 sisters, Suzanne (Pasquale) Giannelli of Waterbury, Joanne Bouffard of Oakville & Alice (Thomas) Langlais of Thomaston; a brother in law, Anthony Carbone; a grandson, Ryan Blatchley; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Maureen Carbone.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven Tuesday morning at 9:15. Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Rd., Woodbridge at 10:00. OSBORNE, HARRY A.
April 10, 2006
Harry A. Osborne, 76, of Pacifica, CA., died peacefully at his home on April 10, 2006. He was the husband of Ruby Osborne and was a former resident of Connecticut. He had been a resident of Pacifica for the past 10 years. Born April 29, 1929, he attended West Haven High School and was a graduate of Ryder College. He worked at US Motors in Milford for many years, was an avid big pin bowler and enjoyed golfing. At one time he operated “Fascination” at old Savin Rock and served with the US Army of Occupation in Japan after World War II. Beside his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Kevin Osborne of Pacifica, CA. & Clifford Osborne of North Haven; a brother, John Osborne of Hamden; a sister, Evelyn Zarick of West Haven; 3 step children, Evon, Yvette & Pat; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edgar Osborne. Services were held in California. The Celentano Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

SANDERS, AMOS L.
April 7, 2006
Amos L. Sanders, 56, of Howard Ave., New Haven, passed away April 7, 2006 in St. Raphael’s Hospital with his longtime companion, Margaret Sumler, at his side. Born in Tuskegee, Alabama on Sept. 11, 1949, he was the son eldest son of Johnnie Mae & Paul Davis Sr. of New Haven. He has been a New Haven resident most of his life, coming here at the age of 8. He was employed by Chet’s Auto Parts Inc. in New Haven. Beside his parents and his companion, he leaves to mourn his passing 3 sons, Dwayne Sanders Sumler, Amos Sanders Jr. & Corey Sanders; 2 daughters, Tamela Sanders & Lashell Sanders Sumler; & a step daughter, Stephanie Sumler, all of New Haven; 2 brothers, Paul Davis Jr. & Antonio Davis, both of New Haven; 3 sisters, Tamela Davis Bash of West Haven, Sandy M. Davis & Ira S. Davis, both of New Haven; 4 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & friends.
Funeral services will be held in The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven Saturday morning at 10 AM. Friend may call one hour prior to the service from 9 to 10 AM. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

OEHMEN, ELIZABETH
April 3, 2006
Elizabeth Muir Oehmen, 47, of 2A Howard Ave., Branford, dies April 3, 2006 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Scotland on April 15, 1958, she was the daughter of Mrs. Ida Baillie Muir of Brechin, Scotland and the late Eric Edwin Muir. Ms. Oehmen worked as a certified nursing assistant at Talmadge Park in East Haven. She was a member of the Humane Society. She will be remembered by her friends at Talmadge Park as a very caring person. Beside her mother, she is survived by 2 brothers, Eric Muir & George Middleton and 2 sisters, Angela McRobbie & Maureen Muir, all of Scotland; 2 nieces, Kirsty & Rebecca and 2 nephews, Gary & Mark; loved by her companion, Donald Deal of Branford and her extended family, including Marilyn Glazier.
Funeral services in The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., (cor. Dwight), New Haven Friday at 11:00 AM. Friends may call prior to the service from 9 to 11 AM. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

PISCITELLI, FRANK A. (CHEECH)
March 29, 2006
Frank A. “Cheech”: Piscitelli, 87, of Blatchley Ave., New Haven, died March 29, 2006 in Branford Hills after a brief illness. He was the husband of Michaelina Piscitelli. Mr. Piscitelli was born in New Haven Nov. 13, 1918, son of the late Nicola & Jennie Papero Piscitelli. He was employed by United Illuminating Co. for over 35 years prior to his retirement in 1980. He was well known in New Haven sports circles, having starred on the championship softball teams of the Columbus Bears and Arena Grille. As a schoolboy athlete, he was a state champion pole vaulter. He played handball well into his 80’s. He was inducted into the Connecticut Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame in 1983 and the New Haven Tap-Off Club Hall of Fame in 1987. He was honored as “Man of the Year” by the YMCA of Greater New Haven in 1980 and was awarded the New Haven Boy’s Club Alumni Gold Ring Award in 1990. He was selected to be a member of UI’s All Time, All-Star Softball Team in the New Haven Division and received the Columbus Bears All Star Award in memory of Ralph DiLauro. He served as president of the Greater New Haven A.S.A. Umpires in 1984 and received an Extraordinary Volunteer Service Award for his dedication during the International Special Olympics in July 1995. His military career included service during World War II with missions in the South Pacific and service with the U.S. Occupation Forces in Germany from 1950-52. He received 14 decorations & citations while on active duty and retired from the CT Army National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major with the 118th Medical Battalion in 1978 after 36 years of service. Beside his wife, he is survived by a daughter Joanna (Alphonse) Panzo of Branford; a sister, Mrs. Josephine (John “Swede”) Lindquist of New Haven; 2 grandchildren, Andrew Panzo & Angela Christina & 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, James Piscitelli & a sister Philomena (Fay) Celentano.

SALOMON, CATHERINE
March 24, 2006
Catherine (Katy) Cambs Salomon, 87, of 1897 Shepard Ave., Hamden, died March 24, 2006 in Brook Hollow, Wallingford. She was the widow of Edwin A. Salomon. Born in Bronx, N.Y. on Dec. 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Valentine Kanelos Cambouroglis. She was well known as the Operating Room Secretary at the Hospital of St Raphael, where she worked for 19 years prior to her retirement in 1981. She is survived by a sister, Eugenia (Jean) Nicolas of Hamden; and a number of loving nieces & nephews including Mrs. Konstantine (Valentina) Kostas of Hamden. She was predeceased by her son, Martin E. Salomon and a brother Pericles (Perry) Cambs.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, Monday morning at 10:00. Interment will follow in Beaverdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Fr. McGivney Cancer Center, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven or to the charity of one’s choice.

FARACE, FRANK V.
March 21, 2006
Frank V. “Pigmy” Farace Sr., 90, of 384 Burr St., New Haven, died peacefully on March 21, 2006. He was the husband of the late Josephine Mascari Farace. Mr. Farace was born in New Haven May 3, 1915, son of the late Gaetano & Josephine Sulmone Farace. A member of Teamsters Union Local 443, he worked for Carrano’s Express until his retirement in 1978. At one time, he operated clam bar concessions at Jimmies and at Phyllis’s in Old Savin Rock. He was a member of the Campania Club, the First Independent Club and was a familiar figure at Sports Haven, always occupying Seat 106. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Known as a generous and giving man, he was a devoted husband, father & grandfather. He is survived by a son, Frank V. (JoAnn) Farace Jr. of Branford; a daughter, Josephine C. Farace of New Haven with whom he resided;. 4 grandchildren, Dana & Jessica Farace, Nicole (Gaetano) Bimonte & Dominic Randi; 2 sisters in law, Mary Farace & Ruth Mascari; many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, James & Anthony Farace & 3 sisters, Mary D’Agostino, Catherine (Kay) Tolokan & Antoinette Pandolfi.

Gloria Santone, 74, a resident of Cottage 4, Southbury Training School, died there on March 17, 2006. Born in New Haven Dec. 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Elise & Adeline Mongillo Santone and was a former resident of Oak St., New Haven. She is survived by 2 brothers, Ellis J. Santone of New York City & Robert L. (Barbara) Santone of Branford; 3 nephews, 1 niece, many great nieces & nephews as well as her extended family at Southbury Training School.

DONROE, JUDITH
March 16, 2006
Judith Urban Donroe, 67, of 2 Hillside St., West Haven, died peacefully March 16, 2006 in The Conn. Hospice, Branford, She was the beloved wife of Frank Donroe. Mrs. Donroe was born in New Haven Nov. 26, 1938, daughter of the late Walter & Josephine Ansaldo Urban. She has worked as a travel agent for the past several years. Prior to that, she worked in the restaurant business, operating The Bagel Factory in Florida and The Mad Italian in Madison. She was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange. Beside her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Larissa Owens of Orlando, FL.; a sister, Dolores Colombo of North Haven; and 2 grandchildren, Nicolas & Tristan Owens. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Walter Andrew & Michael Joseph Donroe.
