Besides his mother he leaves Bothers Carlos Ciprian Ashe, Antonio Steve Harvey and sister Natasha Denise Harvey. A Celebration of his life was held on Friday January 27, 2006 at 11:00 A.M at Morning Star Freewill Holiness Church at 125 Dixwell Ave, New Haven. Calling hours were at the church Friday from 10-11am. Burial was in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Howard K. Hill Funeral Services 1287 Chapel St. New Haven, CT.

Leroy E. Knox

LeRoy E. Knox, Sr., devoted husband of Joyce A. Knox of Hamden, CT went home to God on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in the hospital of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Knox is the seventh child of the late George A. and Lucille M. Knox, Sr. and the twin of the late Lucille M. Knox Braggs. LeRoy was raised in New Haven, CT and joined the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in 1934. He attended South Central Community College and Southern Connecticut State University. He was also a graduate of the United States Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Academy in KnowvilIe, TN. Mr. Knox served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific throughout World War II and during the Korean Conflict. While in the United States Navy, he was an excellent swimmer and received a Good Conduct Medal. At the end of his Navy term he transferred into the United States Air force in 1954 and served in Germany through the Berlin Conflict. He was appointed chief of the security guards at the State Military reservation in Milford, CT. and was the training supervisor of the Communications Center Operators. Mr. Knox organized and directed the first ever academy choir while at the United States Air Force Non-commissioned Officers Academy. In The United States Air force he was a highly experienced cryptologist and received the Marksmanship Medal. He retired from the military as a Master Sergeant. Mr. Knox was a member of the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church Board of Trustees. He was the Assistant Organist and had served in that capacity for over forty year. He was a member of the First Aid Staff and the Senior Usher Board. Mr. Knox was the overseer of the Church Security and Fire Alarm Communication System, Sound system, and also the Co-Chairman of transportation. Along with Willie Holmes and Donald Broadnaux, Mr. Knox owned and operated the first Black Security agency in the State of Connecticut. He was employed by the Building and Maintenance Department. He was also employed by Brinks Armored Car Service and received the Tractor Trailer Driver Safety Award. Mr. Knox is survived by his wife, Joyce Knox of Hamden, CT, son, LeRoy E. Knox, Jr. of High point, NC, three daughters, Karen McLean of New Haven, CT, Sonia Pratt of MitchVille, MD, and Virgiree-Jocelyn Knox of Hamden, CT, one stepdaughter, Estella Antunes of New Haven, CT., two stepsons, Walter Best of Clinton, NC. And Billy Best of Hamden, CT. and one sister Dorothy Knox Henderson of New Haven, CT., 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren & 6 step great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Louise Knox Bedford, & Lucille Knox Braggs and brothers, Joseph Knox, Sr. and George A. Knox, Jr. A celebration of his life was held on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 11 am. At the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Friends called at the church on Monday from 10-llam. Burial was in Beaverdale Memorial Park with full military honors. Arrangements were in the care of Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St. New Haven.

Ms. Ellis leaves a daughter Jacqueline J. Perry of Hamden, sons Danny and Glenn Ellis of New Haven, a sister Alice Edwards of New Haven, 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers Robert, Maurice and William Grier, 1 sister Queen Grier, and a special cousin Nannie Grier. A celebration of her life was held Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11:00am at Love Center Deliverance Ministry 19 George Street, Hamden, CT. Friends called at the church on Friday from 10-11 A.M. Burial was in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Howard K. Hill Funeral Services. New Haven, CT.

Hill, two daughters, Robin Hill of Tampa, FL, Dr. Lisa Hill of Fairfax, VA, & a granddaughter, Bethany L. Byrd-Hill of Tampa, FL. Survivors also include two sisters Janet Smith of Tampa, FL, Sybil Hayden of Jacksonville, FL, two brothers; Dr. Alan 'Greg' Norcott of Lawrenceville, NJ & the Honorable Justice Flemming L. Norcott of New Haven. A son-in-law, George Lyons, a host of nieces, nephews & cousins are left to mourn her. A celebration of her life was held at Dixwell United Church of Christ Saturday January 14, 2006 at 10:00a.m. Friends called at the church 9-10 a.m. Saturday. Burial was in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of Howard K. Hill funeral Services. New Haven, CT.
