Mother of Ann (Ralph) Boulay of Barrington, IL. Grandmother of Ralph, JR, Robert, William, James and Lawrence Boulay. Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by a son Martin L. Zvonkovic, JR, two sisters, Katherine DeVylder and Vera Zvonkovic and three brothers, Mark, Anthony, and Joseph Stegina.
She was born in Branford November 16, 1906, daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Zvonkovic Stegina, and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church in Branford.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Saturday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 8:30 - 9:30.

Survivors include his son James McCue and fiancée Angie Cavallaro of Guilford, sisters Kelly McCue-Ruffino of Deep River and Sharon Nakagawa of CA, and brother Michael McCue.
He was born in New Haven October 17, 1944 son of the late Mervin and Emilia Oboyski McCue. He worked for 25 years for S & W Roofing and Siding. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, known for growing oversized vegetables. He was always available to help his family and friends.

Died in New Haven April 25, 2006, Lori Lee Lerch Lough, wife of Richard C. Lough of 22 Forest St., Branford. Mother of Christopher Lee Lough of New Haven and Eric Charles Lough of Myrtle Beach, SC. Daughter of Catherine (Russell) Funk of Harlengen, TX, and the late Charles Lerch. Sister of Michelle Lerch of Upper Peninsula, MI. She was born in Vinton, Iowa October 2, 1959. She worked as an administrative assistant for Criscuolo Engineering in Branford. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Branford and a member and past president of the Short Beach Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

In New Haven October 21, 2003, Carl E. Mangs Jr. of 44 Wakefield Rd. Branford. Husband of the late Margaret Brown Mangs. Father & father in law of Geoffrey (Charlotte) Mangs of Branford, Guy (Laura) Mangs of Old Lyme, Bonnie (Merrill) Preston, Robin Mangs (Robert) Reutenauer, and Timothy (Kimberly) Mangs, all of Branford. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother Herbert Mangs. Mr. Mangs was born in Branford on October 30, 1920, a son of the late Carl and Wendla Holmes Mangs. He served in the 82nd Army Airborne in World War II. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with the Bronze Star. He also earned the Distinguished Unit Badge. After the Army he returned to Branford and started his own building company, Carl E. Mangs Builders. He then became president and owner of the Bailey Chase Realty Company in Branford. He was a member of the Shoreline Board of Realtors and also president of the Branford Exchange Club. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Branford.
A Memorial Service will be held on FRIDAY at 11:00 at the First Congregational Church of Branford. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. Sister of George Urquhart of Middletown, Ct. and Harold Urquhart of Wallingford, Ct. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a grandson Mark Poturnicki, brothers Charles & Frank Urquhart, and sisters Esther Bowden and Madeline Urquhart. Mrs. Poturnicki was born in New Haven on June 16, 1914, a daughter of the late George and Marguerite Donovan Urquhart. She had resided in both Connecticut and Massachusets.

In Branford June 24, 2003, Edward C. Carey, JR, husband of Margaret Doherty Carey of 560 Silver Sands Rd., East Haven, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA.
He was the father of Ellen Carey of Branford, and Edward C. (Lucy) Carey, III, of Kingwood, TX, and grandfather to Edward C. Carey, IV, and Zachary H. Carey, both of Kingwood. He was the brother of Marie Ball of Branford, Bob Carey of New Hampshire, and Carol O'Donnell of East Haven.
Mr. Carey was born in Morris Cove, April 8, 1924, son of the late Edward and Mae Doody Carey. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. navy, and he retired from U. S. Steel in Pittsburgh as general manager.

Mrs. Ivy Russell, 50, of Mueller Drive in Hamden, CT. died Friday, June 30th, 2006 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of Kevin L. Russell and daughter of the late Reverend James E. Pinkard and Bessie (Sorrells) Pinkard. Born February 21st, 1956 in Chattanooga, TN. she leaves to mourn one son, Kevin B. Russell of Hamden, two daughters, Meagan Pinkard of New Haven, and Keturah Russell of Hamden. Mrs. Russell is also survived by six brothers, Hoyt Sorrells, of North Haven, Larry Pinkard, Terry Pinkard, and Strad Etcentre all of Hamden, Brian Pinkard of Burlington, NJ and Glenn Pinkard of Oak Ridge, TN. and one sister Janice Pinkard of New Haven. She is also survived by one grandson Shawn A. Fuller and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St. New Haven, CT. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday July 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Bible Gospel Center 143 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden, CT. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Clara Lucille Potter of Warren Street, New Haven, CT., passed, June 24, 2006, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness. Born in New Britain, CT on February 21, 1923 to the late Morris Dunham and Alice Hawkins, she was employed at Yale New Haven Hospital for 15 years, and served as a private duty nurse's aide until her retirement. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Jo-Ann J Miller (Marvin), Priscilla Eubanks of New Haven, and two sons, William (Billy) Johnson (Lenore), of Bowie Maryland, and Jerry A. Potter, Jr.( Robbie) of New Haven, and a loving brother Robert(Cheyenne) Freeman of New Haven. She also leaves eight granddaughters and four grandsons, of New Haven. Five great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and a host of relatives and friends. Clara was a long time member of St. Matthews Church until her illness. She was pre-deceased by one sister, and two brothers. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St. New Haven, CT. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
Marshall Thomas Emery

Mr. Marshall Thomas Emery was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 6, 1932 to the late Marshall N. and Adele M. Emery. He passed away suddenly in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, June 22, 2006.Marshall was baptized into the body of Christ at the Bethel AME Church, New Haven Connecticut in 1935. He remained actively involved in the church, joining the Mount Zion AME Church in Dover, Delaware when he worked there. He was united with the Zion Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia on August 22, 1993 under the pastorate of Dr. Andrew J. White, Sr. where he was a Teller and worked with the Downtown Churches United once a month.His parents moved to New Haven Connecticut when Marshall was a baby and remained throughout their lifetime. He completed his high school education at Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut and completed his undergraduate work at Winston Salem Teachers College (now known as Winston Salem State University), Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1954. He received a Master of Arts in Education from New York University and completed additional advanced study at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, North Carolina and the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware. During these years, Marshall served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America receiving an honorable discharge on June 20, 1962 after four years of service. Marshall enjoyed a long, distinguished career in sports activity; the love of his life was track and basketball. Marshall was a protégé and devoted adopted son of the late Coach Clarence “Big House” Gaines. He started his career as a teacher and coach at Paisley High School, Winston Salem, North Carolina. Following that experience, Marshall went on to serve in the following capacities: Instructor/Coach, Howard University, Washington, DC; Recreational Director, College Upward Bound Program, Howard University; Program Coordinator, National Summer Youth Sports Program, Howard University; Basketball Coaching Staff, United States Olympic Tryout Camp, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Clinician/Instructor, KONI, Jakarta, Indonesia; Basketball Coaching Staff, United States Olympic Tryout Camp, Raleigh, North Carolina; Basketball Coach and Instructor, Delaware State College, Dover, Delaware; Teacher/Coach, Caesar Rodney High School, Camden Delaware; Consultant/Coach, Panama National Team, Dominican Republic; Clinician/Instructor, Virgin Island Basketball Coaches Federation, St. Thomas, Virgin Island; Coach/Administrative Assistant, Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia; Sports Specialist-Clinician/Coach, Togo, West Africa and Assistant Professor/Coach, Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia. Marshall was enroute home from Notre Dame having just completed a basketball camp along with other coaches at the time of his passing on Thursday. His continued interest in young people and their total holistic development was instrumental in his accepting a position with the Petersburg Public Schools in 1992 as Health and Physical Education Instructor/Coach at the Peabody Middle School. He remained in that position until his retirement on May 31, 2001. Marshall received the distinguished honor of being invited by the United States Olympic Committee on several occasions to participate in selecting the teams to represent the United States of America in the Olympic Games in particular the Games of the XX Olympiad in Munich, Germany in 1972. Marshall was at his passing was the President of the Petersburg Chapter of Concerned Black Men, Incorporated. He was very interested in providing cultural and social activities for young black men in the community. He eventually expanded the program to include young ladies. He demonstrated his love for young people through all of his involvements in the community. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Black Coaches Association (BCA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Marshall was an original member of the MEAC and coached its first championship game. He served as a neutral observer of Basketball Officials for the CIAA and MEAC. The professional organizations in which he held membership were the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; the National Educational Association; and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Marshall was honored on numerous occasions by many groups. His most cherished ones are as followed: CIAA Tournament of Coach of the Year 1967; NCAA District II Coach of the Year 1970; MEAC Tournament Coach of the Year 1971; MEAC Tournament Coach of the Year 1978; Delaware Henlopen Conference Coach of the Year 1982 and the Delaware High School Coach of the Year 1984. Marshall was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Mrs. June Dickerson Emery. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted companion, Vivian I. Brown, a close devoted cousin, James Johnson of Branford, Connecticut; a loving and highly regarded stepdaughter; a stepson; three cherished step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend Randall Smith of West Haven died at Yale New Haven Hospital after a tragic motorcycle accident on May 26th, 2006. He leaves to celebrate his life his mom Carolyn McGill Smith of Hamden, and his dad the late Robert Lee Smith of North Carolina. His wife Pamela Brown Smith of West Haven, one son Randall DeNeutte of Hamden, one daughter Nyree M Smith, (Pre-decreased) by his step son Anthony Lucky, two sisters Claudia L Barnes of New Haven, and Melanie A Perry (Arthur) of Hamden, step father David K Waller Sr., step sister Colleen M. Waller, two step brothers David K Waller Jr., Anthony Waller and a host of nieces/nephews & aunts/uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends. Randall was a well-known Barber. He received his Barber's license from Josie's Big Apple in New Haven. Randall was 'briefly' employed at Taherra's Barber Shop on Howe Street. Prior to that, he worked at Headquarters on the Post Rd. in West Haven. Randall was a member of The Wayfaring Ministries in Hamden where he was a former member of the male chorus, and the Rydas 4 Righteousness Christian Motorcycle Ministry. He will be remembered for his Love for people, his love for riding motorcycles, bowling, shooting pool, basketball, singing, dancing, and his ability to create & organize.
Come join the celebration of his life on Saturday June 24th, 2006 at Wayfaring Ministries located on 295 Treadwell Street in Hamden, CT. The calling hours will be from 8-am, funeral service will start at am. which will be followed by the burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Randall will be honored the following day during the 'Bike Blessing of R4R' on Sunday, June 25th at 4p.m. at the Wayfaring Ministries parking lot.
