Walter E. Johnson Sr.,
a Greenwich resident, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at his home in Riverside. He was 77.
He died of a heart attack, according to his family.
Mr. Johnson drove trucks for 20 years for Dave's Trucking, formerly in Port Chester, N.Y., before retiring in 1985. He previously owned his own tractor-trailer. After retiring from the trucking business, he drove limousines for A-1 Limousine until 1995. He was a member of Teamsters Local 445.
Born Nov. 22, 1922, in Staten Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late Ernest and Estelle I. Harris Johnson.
He moved to the Riverside section of Greenwich in 1954. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Mianus River Boat and Yacht Club and The Power Squadron for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Janet F. Slagle Johnson of Greenwich; three sons, Walter E. Johnson Jr. of Greenwich, Brian J. Johnson of Bridgeport and Anthony P. Johnson of Fairfield; three daughters, Mary Anne Caragol of Bridgeport, Dominica C. Rifenburgh of Greensburg, Pa., and Estelle P. Mahoney of Kent; two stepdaughters, Jane M. Cesare and Susan H. Ogilvy of Riverside, both of Greenwich; a brother, Eugene Johnson of East Nassau, N.Y.; and 19 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Benjamin Johnson.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich. Burial will be in the First Congregational Church Cemetery.

Luca "Jim" Dedda,
a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 74.
He died of diabetes, according to his family.
Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Louis and Frances Rauseo Dedda.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and the Elks Club.
Mr. Dedda is survived by a sister, Carmella Boccuzzi of Stamford; a brother, Joseph A. Dedda of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a niece and two nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Dedda.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, and head to St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.
Entombment will follow at St. John Mausoleum in Darien.

Peter T. Farrelly
Peter T. Farrelly, a resident of Norwalk, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 76.
He died of heart failure, according to his family.
Born Oct. 17, 1923, in New York City, he was a son of the late Michael and Bridget Mulligan Farrelly.
Mr. Farrelly was a corporate account executive for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New York for 33 years. He managed the insurance contracts of major corporations in the New York metropolitan area from 1949 until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Farrelly received a bachelor's degree from Fordham University in 1946. He interrupted his education to serve in the 405th AAA anti-aircraft gun battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was among the second wave of troops that landed at Normandy shortly after D-Day. Mr. Farrelly served as a radio signalman attached to various headquarters units. During Operation Magic Carpet, he was among the thousands of troops who returned to the United States on Dec. 24, 1945, aboard the damaged aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.
He married the former Kathleen Nolan on Nov. 20, 1948, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Mr. Farrelly was a founding parishioner at St. Jerome, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as a Eucharistic minister, lector and a pastoral minister to the sick and homebound. He was a confraternity of Christian doctrine teacher at St. Mary School and a religious education and Christian heritage teacher at St. Jerome School for many years.
He volunteered at the Good Shepherd House of Hospitality in Norwalk for many years and served as a volunteer driver with FISH.
Mr. Farrelly is survived by his wife; three daughters, Ellen Chase of Norwalk, Elizabeth Moreau of Stratford and Janet Farrelly of West Haven; three sons, Peter Farrelly Jr. of Shelton, Patrick Farrelly of Minneapolis and Thomas Farrelly of Norwalk; a brother, Michael Farrelly of La Mesa, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Farrelly and Rita Farrelly; and a son, Michael P. Farrelly.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 at St. Jerome's Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk.
Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
Suzan Kim Herold Mason,
a North Carolina resident, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 in Virginia. She was 38.
She died of injuries suffered in a car accident, according to her family.
Born Oct. 16, 1961, in Stamford, she was the daughter of Jerome and Sandra Bella Herold of Stamford.
Mrs. Mason attended Stamford Public Schools. She managed a family business, Desire Me Motors Inc., and worked at another family business, Multi-Phase Fabrication and Welding Inc., both in Stamford.
She trained horses for and performed in rodeos.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Andrew Mason of North Carolina; a daughter, Nicole-Lenee Mason of North Carolina; two sons, Andrew Mason of North Carolina and Tyler Kenney of Connecticut; and two half-sisters, Mardi Keeler of Stratford and Kerri Patavino of Connecticut.

Frank E. DePreta,
a longtime New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 at Mediplex in Stamford. He was 91.
He died of heart failure, according to his family.
Born Nov. 24, 1908, in New York City, he was a son of the late Vincent and Concetta Zezima DePreta.
Mr. DePreta was a supervisor at DuPont Co. before retiring. He was a past member of the Settefratese Club in Stamford.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Russo DePreta; a daughter, Etta D'Ademo of Stamford; two brothers, John DePreta of Norwalk and Anthony DePreta of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. DePreta was predeceased by seven brothers, Alfred DePreta, Joseph DePreta, Thomas DePreta, Nicholas DePreta, Victor DePreta, Dominic DePreta and James DePreta; and two sisters, Palma Catino and Mary Ienner.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at F. Hoyt Funeral Home, 19 Main St., New Canaan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000 at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, South Main, New Canaan.

Frank L. Lewis,
a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 71.
He died of cancer, according to his family.
Born Feb. 26, 1929, he was a son of Minnie Beauford Lewis of Daytona Beach, Fla., and the late James Lewis.
Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee.
Mr. Lewis was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk, Knights of Columbus Monsignor Thomas Finn Council 46 and the American Legion Frank C. Godfrey Post 12.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Darryl M. Lewis of New York City, and Craig M. Lewis of the Bronx, N.Y.; a daughter, Wanda M. Lewis of the Bronx; a brother, William Lewis of Palm Coast, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.
