James A. Masella, 52, of 453 Ellsworth Ave., New Haven, passed away peacefully June 18, 2008 in The CT. Hospice, Branford. He was the son of Tony & Lucille “Deedy” Masella of North Haven. James was born in New Haven on Feb. 14, 1956. A Special Olympian, he received numerous medals for Biking and Running. He gave welcoming remarks at the Special Olympic International World Games in New Haven in 1995, and was known for his love of music & dancing. Besides his parents, James is survived by a sister and brother in law, Kathy & William Carbone of New Haven; 3 beloved nieces, Jennifer (Peter) Raccio of Cheshire, Marissa (Joe) Capasso of Hamden & Rebecca Carbone of New Haven; 2 great nieces, Maya & Tessa; several loving aunts, uncles & cousins as well as his brothers & sisters at Ellsworth Avenue Group Home. The family acknowledges with grateful appreciation the care he received at The Dorothy Adler Center at Yale New Haven Hospital and at Ellsworth Ave. Group Home.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven Sunday from 4 to 8 PM and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aedan’s Church Monday at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. MONGILLO, MARGARET
June 2, 2008
Margaret (Peggy) Raccio Mongillo, 96, of 48 Ursini Drive, Hamden, passed away June 2, 2008 in The CT. Hospice, Branford. She was the widow of Anthony Mongillo. Mrs. Mongillo was born in New Haven Feb. 14, 1912, daughter of the late Pasquale & Maria Nicola Raccio. At one time, she worked as a bookkeeper for Winchester Repeating Arms Co. She is survived by a son, Anthony J. (Shirley) Mongillo of Pomfret Center, CT; a daughter, Marguerita (Margie) Mongillo of Hamden; 2 grandchildren, Michael A. & Laura E. Mongillo and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John R. Raccio Sr. and 2 sisters, Mary Carlo & Antoinette Andrukaitis..
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Thursday, June 5th at 9:20 AM. Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00. Friends may call at the Funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. BOYD, THOMAS E.

Thomas Earl Boyd, 74, of 48 Kensington St., New Haven died peacefully at his home May 27, 2008. He was the loving companion for 41 years of Nancy LeClaire. Mr. Boyd was born in Warrenton, N.C. on April 3, 1934, son of the late Irvin & Janeva Fields Boyd. He worked as a machinist for OLIN Winchester and US Repeating Arms for 45 years until his retirement. He is also survived by 4 sons, Thomas (Sheila) Boyd Jr. of FL., Keith (Pam) Boyd & Irving Boyd-LeClaire, both of New Haven & Scott (Jacqueline) Boyd of West Haven; 5 daughters, Judith Gist & Nancy Boyd, both of Hamden, Barbara Inge of CT., Geneva Boyd-Lawhorn of New Haven & April Boyd of FL.; stepson, Jeffrey LeClaire & step daughter, Priscilla Jones, both of New Haven; 2 brothers, Edgar (Jean) Boyd of VA. & Samuel Boyd of White Plains, N.Y.; a sister, Delores (William) Freeman of Hamden; 32 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Boyd-LeClaire; a step son, Robert LeClaire and a brother, Junous Boyd.
Funeral services will be held in The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) Monday, June 2nd at 1:00 PM Viewing prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

MORDENTE, DR. GIACOMO
May 24, 2008
Giacomo (Jack) Mordente Jr., DDS, of 2 Old Town Hwy., East Haven, passed away May 24, 2008 in The CT. Hospice, Branford. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine Esposito Mordente. Born in New Haven Aug. 20, 1924, he was the son of the late Giacomo & Josephine Mercuriano Mordente. He was a graduate of Providence College and St. Louis University School of Dentistry. He practiced in New Haven for more than 50 years. He was past president of the New Haven Dental Association and a member of the American Dental Association, and served as assistant editor of the Connecticut State Dental Journal. During the Korean Conflict, he served as a Captain with the 118th Battalion, 43rd Division, US Army Dental Corps. Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Giacomo (Linda) Mordente III of Branford, Richard (Carlene) Mordente of West Haven & Robert (Gloria) Mordente of New Milford; 2 daughters, Kathleen (Arne) Solli of Cheshire & Jody (Robert) King of Miami, FL.; a sister, Sophie Rubano of Orange; 10 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aedan’s Church Wednesday morning May 28th at 10:30. Entombment in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum

CELENTANO, ELEANOR
May 16, 2008
Eleanor Onofrio Celentano, 88, of 425 Quinnipiac Ave., New Haven passed away May 16, 2008 in CT Hospice. She was the widow of Alphonse E. Celentano. She was born in New Haven June 14, 1919 a daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina DeNello Onofrio. Mrs. Celentano was a supervisor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Yale until her retirement in 1990 after 30 years with the University and was also a longtime parishioner of St. Rose Church. She was the mother of Marie Cynthia Garvey of Delray Beach, FL, Alphonse E. Celentano Jr.(Marie Oliver) of Milford, and the late Michael J. Celentano. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Jack and Gene Onofrio and 6 sisters, Marie DeFelice, Theresa DeMartin, Betty Anastasio, Lena Standish, Catherine Popylisen, and Josephine Onofrio. Besides her son and daughter she is also survived by her sisters in law, Phyllis and Madeline Celentano, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. cor. Dwight New Haven Monday morning at 8:20. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rose of Lima Church at 9:00. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 PM. GERAGOSIAN, ANNA
May 12, 2008
Anna (Festa) Geragosian, 92, of Kensington died May 12, 2008. She was the widow of John Geragosian. Mrs. Geragosian was born in New Haven Sept. 15, 1915, the second of five children of Marino & Elizabeth Criscuolo Festa. She trained to be a seamstress at the Boardman Trade School and worked in garment industry shops in the New Haven area. During WWII she worked at Winchester Repeating Arms in New Haven. In 1965 she married John Geragosian and moved to Kensington. Anna enjoyed travel, taking family pictures and quilting. She lived a simple life, keeping to herself and maintaining her independence until her death. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Victoria Butera and brothers, Adam, Michael & John Festa. Survived by nieces & nephews including Louis and Robert Butera, Lynn and Patty Festa, John Festa, Linda Griglun, Liz Twohig, Michael Festa, Maria Carter and Elizabeth Watson.
A visitation will be held at the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St, New Haven Tuesday from 9 - 10:30 AM followed by a Mass in Saint Michael’s Church at 11 AM. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery in Hamden.

Walter A. Samson
07/31/1941 - 12/30/2005
Walter A. Samson, 64, of Willimantic, husband of the late Susan (Monroe) Samson, died Friday, 12/30/05, in Windham Hospital.
He was born July 31, 1941 in Willimantic son of the late Armand and Luella (LaChappelle) Samson.
Walt owned and operated the C.W.S. Sheet Metal Co. for 20 years, retiring several years ago. He was a Past President of the Franco-American Club of Windham.
His survivors include a son, Craig Samson of Willimantic; five brothers: Ferdinand, Richard, William, Robert and George Samson all of Windham and a sister, Jane Beaudry, also of Windham. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
His Graveside Service will be Friday, 1/6/06, at 12 Noon in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his memory, to a charity of the donors choice. The Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic has charge of arrangements.

Ernest "Bill" William Charron
01/13/1923 - 12/30/2005
Ernest William Bill Charron, 82, of Windham, beloved husband of Cecelia (Majcher) Charron, died Friday, 12/30/05, in Windham Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born Jan. 13, 1923 in Mansfield, CT the son of Elmer J. and Frances (McTott) Charron, Sr.
Bill was a corporal with the 1252nd Army Air Corps Base Unit from 1943 t0 1946. He was awarded the Victory and Good Conduct Medals and the European, African, Middle East Theater Campaign ribbon. He was employed by the Electro-Motive Co. And Conn Cycle, retiring in 1985. He was active in the Willimantic Little League for over 20 years. Bill enjoyed hunting and ice-fishing. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching UCONN womens basketball. He was a life member of the Willimantic Elks, the Franco-American Club, the Fin, Fur and Feather Club, and a communicant of St. Josephs Church.
Besides his wife, his survivors include two sons: Dennis W. Charron and Gary L. Charron both of Chaplin; four grandchildren: Nichole Charron of Windham, Jacob L. Charron and his wife, Marcia of Japan, Seth W. Charron of Windham and his fianc, Heather and Ian H. Charron of Chaplin and his friend, Alyssa. He also leaves a great grandson, Devin Chappell of Mansfield, a sister, Fayetta Rossitto of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Elmer J. Charron, Jr. and Roderick Charron, also two sisters, Edith Jarvis and Henrietta Tamborello, and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Charron.
His Graveside Service will be Friday, 1/6/06, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Thursday, 1/5/06, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windham Hospital Building Fund, 112 Mansfield Ave. Willimantic, CT 06226.

May R. (Sullivan) Garceau, 86, of Willimantic, widow of Edmund F. Garceau, died Thursday, 2/2/06, in the Haven Health Center of Windham.
She was born October 1, 1919 in Windham the daughter of Patrick and Anna G. (Dixon) Sullivan.
She graduated from Windham High School in 1938. Mrs. Garceau was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 20 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Willimantic Irish Club and a communicant of St. Josephs Church.
Her survivors include a son, John F. Garceau of Willimantic, a daughter, Patricia Sarazin and her husband, Joseph of South Windham; two grandchildren, Renee Taylor and Robert Sarazin and two great grandchildren, Rebecca and Zachary Taylor. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 2/7/06, at 9 a.m. in St. Josephs Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and again Tuesday from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Health Center of Windham, 595 Valley St. Willimantic, CT 06226.

He retired as Assistant Postmaster in 1979 from the Branford Post Office, where he worked for 43 years. He served as Commissioner for the Academy on the Green in Branford.
