George L. Adams

George L. Adams, 88, of Willimantic, died Saturday, 5/22/04, in Windham Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Jean (Asselin) Adams, who passed away last December.
He was born Dec. 4, 1915 in Manchester, NH the son of Donat and Lucia (Fecteau) Adams.
He was in Quality Assurance at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station for over 30 years. Mr. Adams was a Navy veteran of World War 2. He was a member of the K of C San Jose Council 14, the VFW Gold Star Post 1724, the senior band, “The Quiet Bunch”, several senior organizations, and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic.
His survivors include two sons: Robert L. Adams and his wife, Catherine of Assonet, MA, and Daniel J. Adams of Willimantic; a brother, Leo Adams of Willimantic and a sister, Lorraine Duchesneau of Mansfield. He also leaves three grandchildren: Scott Adams, Todd Adams and Joy Adams; two great grandchildren: Kendra and Bailey Adams, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 5/26/04, at 10 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and again Wednesday, from 9:00 to 9:30 A.M. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.

Resting comfortably, with family members by his side, Carl Elwood Bloomquist ended his courageous 17 year battle with Leukemia. He was a life long resident of Branford and was retired from SNET where he worked for over 25 years. He was the son of Carl August and Maria (Carlson) Bloomquist. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years Alma (Monckton) Bloomquist, daughters Kathleen Acampora and her husband David of Guilford and Cindy Bloomquist of Branford, sons Richard Bloomquist of New Haven, Robert and his wife Katherine Morton Bloomquist, Gary (WSFD) and his wife Karen Beauton Bloomquist, and Eric Bloomquist all of Branford, grandchildren, Owen Bloomquist of Branford, Eric, Sarah, and Christopher Acampora of Guilford and brother-in-law Carmen Siniscalchi of Branford. He also has several Nieces and Nephews in CT and ME. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Enid Siniscalchi, and Grandson, Aedan Bloomquist.
Hours of calling will be 5-7pm on Monday October 17th at W.S. Clancy's on Main Street Branford. A service will be held immediately after at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Branford, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405
Emily C. Kelly

Emily (Becker) Kelly, 91, of Storrs, widow of Norman C. Kelly, passed away Thursday, 5/20/04, in Windham Hospital.
She was born April 28, 1913 in Glastonbury, the Daughter of Charles and Emma (Welk) Becker.
She worked at the Mansfield Training School for many years, retiring in 1973. Mrs. Kelly loved rug braiding and fishing.
Her survivors include a daughter, Marie Rudenauer of North Windham, a son, Norman Kelly of Storrs, and a sister, Christine McPherson of Middletown. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Emily’s life on Monday, 5/24/04, from 11 to 12 Noon at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, followed by a procession to the Storrs Cemetery for her burial.
Sherwood B. Damon

Sherwood B. Damon, 63, of North Stonington, CT, Beloved husband of Joan (Talbot) Damon, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, 5/20/04, after a year-long battle with Cancer of the Brain.
He was born April 27, 1941 in Deer Isle, ME the son of Cecil and Maxine (Barbour) Damon.
He had been employed by the Electric Boat of Groton for 35 years, retiring as a General Foreman and Pipefitter. He was an avid woodworker, loved farming and helping his family and friends. Sherwood and Joan would have celebrated their 21st anniversary on May 21st.
Besides his wife, his survivors include his stepmother, Oleeta Damon of Stonington, ME, a sister, Marilyn Davis and her husband, Roger of Deer Isle, ME, a brother, Roderick Damon and his wife, Brenda of Chesapeake Beach, MD, two stepdaughters: Gail Stalinski and her husband, John and Karen Bridenstine and her husband, Lenny, all of Griswold, CT. He also leaves his special granddaughter, Courtney Bridenstine and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Byron Damon.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 5/24/04, at 11 A.M. at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St. Taftville, CT. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, at 11 A.M. in Forest Hill Cemetery in Deer Isle, ME. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and again on Monday, from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Elise T. Nowak

Elise Theresa Nowak, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and all around good person. Passed to her heavenly reward in the early hours of May 13, 2004. She was born on March 13, 1921 in Three Rivers, Canada to the late Henry & Bertha Desilets . She moved to Willimantic, Ct. at an early age. Where she was educated, worked and found the love of her life. She was married
to Joseph P. Nowak in July of 1946. They moved to Scotalnd road in Chaplin where she was blessed with three daughters and a son. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her husband Joseph, her daughter Nancy, her husband Bill Bradley and their son, Willie; her daughter, Joyce, her husband Rick Shea and their sons Kris and Keith and great granddaughter, Abby; and her daughter, Karen and her husband Tim Shea and their menagerie of many animals.
She has been reunited with her son, Joseph Jr., who passed after living only a few weeks. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including Janet Elise Theriault. She was a passionate lover of her family, an avid reader and a full of fun. She is now in His loving care.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 5/15/04, at 11 A.M. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Ther are no calling hours.

Lorraine (Lariviere) Picotte, 82, of Manchester, formerly of Willimantic, widow of Joseph Bruno Picotte, died Sunday, 4/25/04, in Manchester Manor.
She was born Feb. 20, 1922 in Willimantic the daughter of Roderick and Regina (St.George) Lariviere.
She had been employed by the Brand Rex Co., retiring in 1990. Previously, she worked for the Electro-Motive Co. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic.
Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Cary Fausey of Mansfield Center and two grandchildren, Joy Fausey of Glastonbury and Donald Fausey of Boston, MA. She was predeceased by three sisters: Armande Gormley, Violet King and Rita Christian Varhue and a brother, Albert Lariviere.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 4/28/04, at 11 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. There are no calling hours.

In Branford November 27, 2002, Josephine Petrillo Altrui, wife of the late Ralph Altrui of 115 Hughes St., East Haven.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Louise and Omer Lapointe of Chicopee, MA, and the sister of Mary Vincelette, with whom she resided in East Haven. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Frank and Dominic Petrillo.
Mrs. Altrui was born in New Haven May 14, 1911, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina Porto Petrillo, and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Saturday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 - 8 PM.

Loretta Mellady, 71, of Willimantic, beloved wife of Robert Mellady, died Wednesday, 4/21/04, in the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
She was born Dec. 31, 1932 in Middletown, CT the daughter of Alfred and Delia (Barr) LaVoie, Sr.
She was a secretary for the Windham Eye Group for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. Previously, Mrs. Mellady was a secretary at St. Mary’s-St. Joseph School for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Guild and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Roberta Bellows of Southwick, MA, Dianne Anderson and her husband, Jeffery of Scotland, and Nancy Eastman and her husband, Robert of Enfield. She also leaves a brother, Alfred Lavoie, Jr. of Canterbury, a sister, Gloria Limanni of Willimantic, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Florence J. Curran, 88, of Willimantic, died September 2, 2007 in St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. She was born September 8, 1918 in Willimantic the daughter of John and Maud (Carpenter) Curran. She worked for the American Thread Co. 11 years, retiring in 1980. She was previously employed by the Electro-Motive Co. for 16 years. Miss Curran was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Her survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James Curran and three sisters: Helen Valone, Irene Brassill and Doris LaFleur. Visitation will be Thursday, 9/6/07, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Church for the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Juliette (Guilbeault) Golembouski, 86, of Windham, widow of Edwin Golembouski, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at home. She was born August 3, 1920 in Manchester, NH the daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Desruisseaux) Guilbeault. She worked for the American Thread Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and member of the Society of St. Anne. Her survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great, great nieces, great, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers: Albert, Arthur and Armand Guilbeault and two sisters, Yvette M. Elliott and Annette Guilbeault.
