William Joseph Hope,
a Norwalk resident, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 65.
He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.
Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Norwalk, he was a son of the late Robert and Dorothy Mead Hope.
A former Stamford resident, Mr. Hope was a heavy equipment operator for Kowalsky Brothers Construction for 45 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kelly Hope of Norwalk; three sons, William Hope of St. Charles, Ill., and Joseph Hope and Robert Hope, both of Norwalk; a daughter, Cathy Duffy of Quarryville, Pa.; four brothers, Robert Hope of Springhill, Fla., Terry Hope and John Hope, both of Norwalk, and Gerald Hope of Brookfield; two sisters, Mary Young of Farmingdale, Maine, and Roberta Monroe of Clearwater, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Guy Hope; and a brother, Donald Hope.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2000 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
Vivian Miller,
a Stamford resident for the past 39 years, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 66.
She died of heart failure, according to her family.
Born Aug. 22, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Rose Sclafani DiMatteo.
She married Dr. Robert Miller, D.D.S., in 1956. Mrs. Miller spent three years with her family stationed at Lakenheath and Mildenhall U.S. Air Force Bases in England, where her husband was a U.S. Air Force captain. The family settled in Stamford in 1961. A graduate of Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Miller took time off from nursing to raise her sons. She returned to nursing and worked for several years caring for terminally ill patients in Stamford and Darien.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Robert F. Miller of Norwalk, Steven J. Miller of Trumbull and Edward J. Miller of Darien; a brother, Dr. John DiMatteo of Westbury, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 16, 2000 at St. Bridget's Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford.
Burial will be private.

Camille M. Bevivino Mollo of Cromwell died Sunday,
Sept. 17, 2000 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was 61.
She died of a heart attack, according to her family.
Born Jan. 4, 1939, she was a daughter of Rose Branca Bevivino of Cos Cob and the late Frank A. Bevivino.
Mrs. Mollo was commissioner of housing in and a member of the Democratic City Committee in Stamford and chairwoman of the Elderly Committee in Cromwell. She was named an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1976.
Mrs. Mollo was involved in many civic and political committees, including the Hartford Hunger Walk and the Special Olympics. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Stamford.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur J. Mollo Jr. of Cromwell; three sons, Frank A. Mollo of Oxford, Arthur J. Mollo III of Three Rivers, Texas , and Thomas W. Hickey of Oxford; a brother, Dominick Bevivino of Stamford; a sister, Partricia Rankin of East Haddam; and several nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main St., Cromwell.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the funeral home and proceed to St. John's Church, St. John's Court, Cromwell where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Burial will be private.

Dorothy Bogart Merritt Parsons,
a longtime Fairfield and Easton resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 at Sun Terrace Health Care Center, in Sun City Center, Fla. She was 93.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born Aug. 26, 1907, in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Jennie Mae Hoyt Merritt.
Mrs. Parsons was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield, formerly the Stratfield Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Jackie Hubbard of Stamford; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Parsons was predeceased by her husband, Arthur George Parsons; a sister, Ruth Parcells; and a brother, Kimball Merritt.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be private.

Frank Ventura,
a Stratford resident, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was 86.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Oct. 15, 1913, in Greenwich, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Montello Ventura.
Mr. Ventura was a retired technician for Tech Systems in Thomaston.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Saumell Ventura of Stratford; three sons, Joseph Ventura of Stamford, Armand Ventura of New York City and Rene Ventura of Naugatuck; a daughter, Bea Connelly of Stratford; a brother, Bert Ventura of Stamford; two sisters, Aurora Ventura of Stamford and Mercedes Othouse of Norwalk; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford Road, Stratford.
Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford Avenue, Stratford.

Norice Dupree Knight of Falkland,
N.C., died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 at her home. She was 63.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Sept. 22, 1936, in Falkland, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Beatrice Dupree
Mrs. Knight graduated from North Carolina A & T State University.
She taught in the Pitt County School System in North Carolina before moving to Maryland in the 1960s, where she was a teacher at Oxon Hill Elementary School. She taught school in Prince Georges County, Md., for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church in Washington , D.C.
Mrs. Knight is survived by five sisters, Lois Dupree, Minerva Freeman and Joyce Redd, all of Falkland; and Hattie and Amanda Vines, both of Norwalk; two brothers, Douglas and Cecil Dupree, both of Falkland.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Falkland. A service will follow at 3:30 p.m.

Ramon E. Medina Sr.
Ramon E. Medina Sr., a Stamford resident, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 61.
He died of cardiac and respiratory arrest, according to his family.
Born April 14, 1939, in Lares, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Matildo and Alfonsa Medina Ruiz.
Mr. Medina was employed for 20 years at the Fountain Terrace on Strawberry Hill Avenue in Stamford. He was a member and communicant of St. Benedict-Our Lady of Montserrat Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Nieves Medina of Stamford; three sons, Ramon Medina Jr. and Carlos Medina, both of Stamford, and Rafael Medina of Bridgeport; a brother, Rafael Medina of Puerto Rico; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at Gerald R. Bosak Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at St. Benedict-Our Lady of Montserrat Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, Stamford.
