Domonic Addisio, 83, of 27 Merritt Ave., Woodbridge passed away July 29, 2009 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty Bush Addisio. Born in Woodbridge Feb. 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Victoria Grasso Addisio. He was a lifelong Woodbridge resident. He worked as a mechanic for the former L.G. DeFelice Co. for more than 30 years and was a member of Local 478, Operating Engineers. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Frank) Caruso of Bethany; a son, Frank P. Addisio of Wallingford; a brother, Michael (Terry) Addisio of Hamden; three sisters, Rose (Harold) Snow and Mafalda Ferraro, both of Hamden and Florence Addisio of New Haven; two grandsons, Michael Thomas Addisio and Francis Anthony Caruso. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Addisio and a sister, Margaret Mongillo.

Lois Munday Ryan, 85, of 45 Boulder Trail, Killingworth passed away July 29, 2009 in Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late Capt. William J. Ryan, NHFD, (ret). Mrs. Ryan was born in Middletown, N.Y. Feb. 19, 1924, daughter of the late Harry and Ellen Munday. She was an East Haven resident before moving to Killingworth 25 years ago. She was devoted to her family and, with her late husband, was an avid follower of Hopkins and Colby College football when her grandson was a member of the teams. She is survived by her son, Deputy Chief W. Patrick (Susan) Ryan, NHFD, of Madison; and her grandson, William Joseph Ryan, also of Madison. She was predeceased by a son, Michael G. Ryan and two sisters, Frances Tripp and Joyce Mauger.

Thomas G. Pagano, 93, of 820 Birchwood Drive, Orange died suddenly July 29, 2009 as a result of injuries suffered in a fall at his home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor Pettinicchi Pagano. Mr. Pagano was born in New Haven Oct. 20, 1915, son of the late Anthony and Celia Centone Pagano. He owned and operated Maxwell & Pagano Monuments on Derby Avenue in New Haven for more than 70 years prior to his retirement at the age of 89. He was past president of the Monument Dealers Guild, a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He served as an usher at Holy Infant Church for many years. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific War Theater. He is survived by two daughters, Janet (Donald) Juall of Wethersfield and Patricia Bohdan) Iwaniw of North Haven; a sister, Mary Cottiero of East Haven; two brothers, John Marzullo and Joseph Pagano; two grandchildren, Matthew & Kenneth Cushen; two step grandchildren, Jason & Warren Juall; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion DiMeola.

Vincent J. Vetrone Jr., 66, of 60 Bright St., New Haven, passed away July 26, 2009 in Willows of Woodbridge. Born in New Haven Jan. 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Vincent J. “Jimmy” Vetrone and Katherine Scully Vetrone Balduc. He was a graduate of East Haven High School, Class of 1961 and New England Institute of Embalming and Sanitary Science in Boston. He worked in funeral service as an embalmer, funeral director and limousine driver. He later owned and managed several restaurants before his retirement. He is survived by a son, Vinson Vetrone of New Haven; his beloved companion, Marion Stanton of Branford; two sisters, Patricia (John) Clarendon of Mashpee, MA. and Katherine (William) McCarthy of Hamden; and a sister in law, Barbara Reaves Vetrone of Cook County, GA.; 2 nieces, 3 nephews and Jake. He was predeceased by a brother, A. Robert (Bob) Vetrone.

Raffaela “Rae” Rose Coppola Orlando, 80, passed away Tuesday July 21, 2009 at her
home in Bethany. Beloved wife of Rocco Orlando, she was born in New Haven on August 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Andrew and Eleanor Amatruda Coppola. Rae was educated in New Haven where she was the valedictorian at St. Mary’s High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Albertus Magnus College in 1950, the first woman in the family to graduate from college. Upon graduation, she was a hematology laboratory supervisor at the Yale School of Medicine where she was involved in training young physicians. She transmitted her love of learning and science to her son Rocco. An accomplished pianist, her musical abilities had a great influence on her daughter Lisa. Family activities were a focal point of her life. Travel and exploration were also important as she and Rocco traveled the globe, finding lost family members and exploring new cultures. Together, their travels transcended disability and brought them to places as diverse as the summit of the Acropolis and the outback of Australia. She was involved in many community activities. She served on the Executive Committee of the Italian American Historical Society of Connecticut, the Executive Committee of the Ethnic Heritage Center of Connecticut at Southern Connecticut State University. Rae was a devoted supporter of the New Haven Scholarship Fund, which has awarded more than 6 million dollars to allow students in financial need to attend college. She was an avid supporter of local and national Democratic Party organizations. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dr. Rocco Orlando, III and Joanne Papanek Orlando of South Glastonbury; and her daughter and son-in-law Lisa Orlando Parisi and Michael J. Parisi of Cheshire, as well as her grandchildren Rocco Orlando, IV, Alexander Orlando, and Laura Parisi; her brother and his wife Dr. Paul J. and Eileen Coppola of Madison and numerous nieces and nephews. Howell J. Harris, 90, formerly of 173 Alps Road, Branford, passed away July 16, 2009 in Menorah Hospital, Overland Park, KS. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Conte Harris. Mr. Harris was born in New Haven Aug. 8, 1918, son of the late Arthur and Rose Harris. He worked as a tool maker for the Lee Co. of Westbrook until his retirement. He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Walter) Rice, Ph. D. of Shrewsbury, MA. and Judith (Robert) Edsall of Kansas City, MO.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris Rice of Bloomfield, N.J. and Walter Paul Rice of Hadley, MA.and several nieces & nephews. He is also survived by several loving caregivers including Lillian Geraci, Mariana Barber and Ian Radford.

Albert Vitelli, 86, of 133 Centerbrook Road, Hamden, formerly of 232 Hyde St., New Haven, passed away July 11, 2009 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Antonette Scilipote Vitelli. Mr. Vitelli was born in New Haven Sept. 12, 1922, son of the late Giuseppe and Angelina Forte Vitelli. He was general manager for May Coat Co. where he worked for 50 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two sons, Albert Vitelli Jr. and Joseph Vitelli, both of Hamden; and a grandson, Joseph Daniel Vitelli. He was predeceased by a son, William Vitelli; five brothers, Mario, Joseph, Andrew, Nicholas and Louis C. Vitelli; and a sister, Fanny Palmieri. The family would like to thank the Nursing Staff on Verdi 3 at St. Raphael’s Hospital for their care and attention.

Anna (Ann) DeGennaro Febbraio of 23 Lucy St., Woodbridge, passed away peacefully July 6, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Woodbridge April 30, 1926, the loving daughter of the late Luigi and Michelina Palladino DeGennaro. She will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter, Julianne Febbraio Pearson and her husband Mark H. Pearson of Bethany. Her devoted grandchildren, Sarah, Katy, Alex and Andrew, all of Bethany will miss Nanny, and a loving extended family, including many special nieces and nephews will miss Auntie Ann. Ann was proud to be a life-long resident of Woodbridge and enjoyed the many years she spent on the family farm there. A caring, generous person, who was always willing to help a friend in need, she loved cooking, and enjoyed making her famous cheesecake for her friends and family. One of her fondest memories was the DeGennaro family reunion in 2007. Ann was a proud parishioner of the Mother Church of Our Lady of Assumption Church, and her father was one of the first Trustees involved in the church. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Edmund J. Febbraio and her cherished companion of many years, Jules Bango; five brothers, Nicholas, John, Ralph, Salvatore and Frank DeGennaro and three sisters, Julia Casertano, Mary Maselli and Rita Russo. The family would like to thank the caring nurses on 4-7 of Yale-New Haven Hospital and the wonderful nurses from CT Hospice who helped make her last days peaceful and comfortable.

Filomena “Fanny” D’Errico DeSanto, 95, of Keansburg, N.J., formerly of Cheshire and New Haven passed away peacefully on July 4, 2009 in Bayside Manor, Keansburg, where she had resided for ten years. She was the wife for 61 years of the late John DeSanto who passed away six years ago. Born in New Haven April 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Angelina D’Errico. She is survived by a son, John G. (Debbie) DeSanto of Plymouth, MN.; a daughter, Kathleen L. (James) Zrebiec of Leonardo, N.J.; six grandchildren, Douglas, David and Danielle DeSanto, James, Matthew and Jeffrey Zrebiec; and five great grandchildren, Sophia, Jack, Olivia, Angelo and Isabella. Fanny was very loving and devoted to her family, and was never happier than when she was in the presence of her grandchildren.

Rev. Xavier F. Renda 78, of East Haven, entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2009 in The Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Fr. Renda was born in New Haven June 15, 1931, son of the late Saverio and Filipina (Josephine) Minaudo Renda. He Graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven and Boston College. He was ordained a priest on April 25, 1958 at the Franciscan Holy Land Monastery in Washington, D.C. His assignments over the years included St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston, Sacred Heart Parish in Rochelle Park, N.J., Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Garfield, N.J., St. Francis Chapel in Providence, and several parishes in Fairfield County including Director of Guidance at Stamford High School, St. Bridget of Ireland, Sacred Heart, St. Cecelia and St. John the Evangelist, all in Stamford, St. Aloysius in New Canaan, St. Raphael in Bridgeport, St. Peter in Danbury, St. Philip and St. Thomas the Apostle, both in Norwalk, Assumption in Westport, St. Lawrence in Shelton, and was appointed Spiritual Director of Cursillo Movement and at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Stamford, and Parochial Vicar at Notre Dame Parish in Easton. He is survived by a brother, Salvatore Renda of Wallingford; two sisters, Margaret McGarry of East Haven and Josephine Fedrizzi of Granby; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Renda and four sisters, Roccolena (Rocky) Zito, Rose Iadone, Anna Bowser and Mary Kreilheim.

Lycurgus M. “Bill” Davey, MD, 91 of Hartford Tpke., North Haven and Cornfield Point, Old Saybrook, died June 15, 2009 at his home in Old Saybrook as a result of injuries from a fall.. Dr. Davey was born in New York City Feb. 20, 1918, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Delaveris Davey. He grew up in New Britain. He was a member of the Class of 1939 at Yale College and Yale School of Medicine, Class of 1943. He served as a medical officer in the US Navy during World War II and remained in the US Naval Reserve until he retired with the rank of Captain in 1973. During his career, he won honors from medical organizations, published articles on neurosurgery and the history of medicine, as well as maintaining an active neurosurgical practice. At the same time, he was an active consultant and clinical professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Yale School of Medicine from 1951 to the present. His recent awards include the Distinguished Alumni Service Award (1997) and the Peter Parker medal for outstanding service, both awarded by the Yale University School of Medicine.He was a member of New Haven Chapter No. 98, Order of AHEPA. He is survived his three children and their spouses, Michael D. and Artemis Davey of Alexandria, VA.; Elaine D. and Jonathan Topodas of Fairfax Sta., VA. and Elizabeth A. Davey and Paul Kwasniewski of Old Saybrook; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Artemis P. Davey and two brothers, Polycrates M. And Orestes M. Davey.
