MULVEY, ANN M. DALEY
Ann M. Mulvey, 77, of 38 Massachusetts Ave., East Haven died on Friday, December 14, 2007 at CT Hospice. She is the wife of James J. Mulvey, Jr. Mrs. Mulvey was born on July 21, 1930 to the late Michael and Margaret Leary Daley. She worked for many years in the Depositor Services Department of Connecticut Savings Bank and prior to that worked for the Knights of Columbus. She is a member of the Gaelic Football and Hurling Club in East Haven. Besides her husband she is survived by a son James J. Mulvey, III of New Haven, three daughters Maureen Mulvey and Linda (Joseph) Ciscone both of East Haven and Eileen Mulvey of Wallingford, a sister Mary Durso of New Haven and 4 granddaughters Kaleigh, Alysha, Amber and Brooke Ciscone. She was predeceased by a brother Jospeh Daley and two sisters Katherine "Kitty" Forgione and Margaret "Peggy" Bonaguiso. Funeral will leave the EAST HAVEN MEMORIAL, 424 Main St., Tuesday morning at 9 oclock for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent dePaul Church at 9:30. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. LERNER, JOEL EDWARD
Joel Edward Lerner, 69, of 900 Mix Ave., Hamden, devoted husband of Miriam Lerner, died unexpectedly at Brigham & Womens Hosp. in Boston on Sat. Dec. 15, 2007. Born in Bronx, N.Y., Jan. 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Nathan & Mildred Lerner. Beloved father of Beth Lerner of Bayside, N.Y. & Alan Lerner of Hamden. Dear brother of Phyllis Bass of Long Beach, N.Y. Funeral services at the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven, Monday morning at 10:30 oclock. GIAIMO, MARION F.
Marion Frances Giaimo, 88, widow of former Third Dist. Congressman Robert N. Giaimo, died Dec. 12, 2007 in Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA. She was a resident of Arlington, VA. And Boca Raton, FL. Born in Westmont, N.J. on Nov. 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Raymond & Emily Schuenemann. She was a graduate of Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. and UCONN Law School. Prior to moving to Washington in 1969, she helped organize the North Haven League of Women Voters; was an organizer and director of North Haven National Bank and was active in the Ridge Road School PTA. She was also a member of Mayor Lee's Community Council for the Aging and New Haven Board of Family Services. She served on the Board of Trustees of Brenau College. In the 1960's, she was co-owner of Giaimo Realty. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lee Koones of Potomac, MD and a granddaughter, Tracy Elizabeth Phillips of Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be held in The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven, Tuesday morning at 10:30 with the Rev. Andrew Fiddler, Rector of Trinity Church on the Green officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center Cemetery, North Haven. BOVA, DOMINICK P. (
Retired. Sgt EHPD) Dominick P. Bova, 78, beloved husband of Janice Doyle Bova of Cecelia Dr, East Haven died December 13, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cherished father of Ronald (Lori) Bova and Diane Bova both of East Haven and the late Darlene Bova. Loving grandfather of Ronnie, Carly and Nikki Bova. Brother of Mary Gambardella of Branford and the late August Bova. Son of the late Peter and Josephine Corso Bova. He was also predeceased by his first wife Patricia Melillo Bova. Prior to his retirement in 1992 he was a Sergeant with the East Haven Police Dept. for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Indian Neck Yacht Club. Adeline Nargi Balzano of 14 Rice Terrace, Branford died December 12, 2007 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the wife of the late Michael Balzano. Adeline was born in New Haven August 10, 1921 a daughter of the late Pasquale and Jennie Cicarelli Nargi. She had worked as a machine operator at AC Gilbert Co. and then Echlin Manufacturing. She is the mother of Michael (Barbara) and Richard Balzano. Sister of Mary Fallo and the late Edith Pantani, Josephine Triumfo, Bernard, Carmen, Marty, Armand and Baptist Nargi. In Murray, KY, Valentina (Tina) Goodman, age 52, died Nov. 3, 2007 at Murray Calloway County Hospital. Born Feb. 2, 1955 in Orange, CT. Survivors are her husband David Goodman of Murray, KY, her mother Y. Elizabeth Cargos of Lakeland, FL., her brothers Gregory Cargos of Yuma, AZ, Richard Cargos of Guilford, CT. & George Cargos of Orange, CT. She was predeceased by her father Agapios (Gabby) Cargos. FENN, CAROLINE B.
Mrs. Caroline B. Fenn, age 102, of Milford, beloved wife of the late B. Russell Fenn, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Fenn was born on October 2, 1905 in New Britain to the late Charles H. and Caroline Bunnell Broadwell. She worked at the former Bushnell Hardware Store in West Haven for over 40 years and during that time she enjoyed participating in a Duck Pin Bowling League. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ Congregational in Milford and a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club. Mrs. Fenn is survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friends, John, Susan and Colby Connelly of Milford. Friends and Family may call on Monday, December 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a service to follow at 12 noon in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. BUTTERWORTH, HENRY ("HANK") ARNOLD
Butterworth, Henry ("Hank") Arnold Butterworth, age 85, of Stratford, died peacefully on December 13, 2007. Mr. Butterworth was born in Bridgeport on July 22, 1922, to the late Nora Hart and Arthur Butterworth; he was a Fairfield resident for much of his adult life before returning to Stratford in 1995. He graduated from Stratford High School, and served as radio gunner on the USS Hornet in the Philippines Sea Battle of World War II, earning the US Navy's Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism. Mr. Butterworth owned and operated Butterworth & Sons Air Freight Trucking Company from 1964 to 1989. He was a longtime member of Brooklawn Country Club and an avid golfer; Charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 9460 in Stratford; lifelong sports fan, sponsoring both Little League and Babe Ruth teams in Fairfield; especially dedicated to the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New York Giants, and UConn's basketball teams. Predeceased by wife Muriel Klingler of Fairfield, to whom he was married for 56 years, and is survived by two sons Scott Butterworth of Stratford, and Mark Butterworth and wife Martha, a grandson Andrew Butterworth, all of North Haven. He was predeceased by a daughter Susan, a son Henry ("H.A."), brothers Kenneth (Tulsa, OK) and Lloyd (Stratford, CT), and a sister, Nora (Stratford, CT). After losing his first wife in 2002, he reconnected with and married his high school sweetheart Arlyne Carrico of Stuart, Florida. She predeceased him earlier this year, and they are now both survived by the Carrico children - Philip ("Flip"), Vincent, Peter, Michael, and Marlene Carrico Stelly. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. TEAGUE, MARY C.
Mary C. Teague, 86, of Clinton, CT. passed away Dec. 9, 2007 at her daughters home in Waterford. Mary was born Aug. 4, 1921 in Bakersfield, VT. Mary is the daughter of Irving and Laura Stone (Dunham). Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Justin A. Teague, son Roderick Teague, brothers, Calvin, Ivan, Harold and Irving Stone and sister, Hilda Morey. Mary is survived by loving children: Emmett Teague and his wife Margarete (Hammer) of Clinton, CT., Lary Teague and his wife Barbara (Phillips) of West Haven, CT, Debra Scott and her husband David of Waterford, CT., daughter-in-law Young Ja Teague of North Haven, CT. sisters, Grace OConnell of Fairfield, VT and Frances Machia of Niantic, CT. Mary is also survived by 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary retired from Cheseborough Ponds after a long career working as a lab technician. She was a member of the Clinton 39ers Club and the Clinton Leisure Club. Mary was a devote Catholic to St. Marys Church of the Visitation, located at 54 Grove St. in Clinton, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007. SEAVEY, KEITH B.
Keith B. Seavey, age 41, of New Haven, died suddenly on December 13th. Born in Bridgeport, June 2, 1966, Keith attended Trumbull High School, class of 1984. He was self employed. Keith was devoted to fly fishing for trout in the streams of Northern New Hampshire. He is survived by his loving parents, Alton and Marie Seavey of Trumbull, a sister, Karin Murphy and her husband, Daniel, of Georgia, two nieces and a nephew, an Aunt, Daisy Colonnese and her husband, Anthony, of Easton, and several cousins. He is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Dale Britney of New Haven. DAVIDSON, HAROLD "BUTCH " F., Jr.
Garland, Maine - Harold "Butch" Francis Davidson Jr., 68, husband of Carol (Lyford) Davidson, died December 13, 2007 at a Bangor, Maine Hospital. He was born March 12, 1939, in Derby, CT, the son of Harold Francis and Helen (Honas) Davidson. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1956-1962. Following his discharge from the service he worked as a maintenance engineer at Yale University, New Haven, CT, at Haley Construction Co., Guilford, ME, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME, and at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. He loved his Harley motorcycle and his dog, Sonny. Butch is survived by his wife, Carol of Garland; a brother, Bobby Beal and his wife Deb and niece and goddaughter Tammy, of Conn.; a sister, Sunday Mae Merza of Florida; 2 sons: Harold "Butch" F. Davidson III and his wife Holly, and David Davidson and his wife Patty, all of Conn; 5 daughters: Janet Davidson of Florida, Sharon Davidson of Calif., Dolly Shashaty and her husband Dan of Florida, Darla Micelli and her husband Joe of Conn., Annie Bowman and her husband Rob of Charleston; 4 stepdaughters, Dawn Gallant and her husband Greg of Corinna, Vicki Levesque and her husband Tim of Levant, Sherri Coburn and her husband Mike of Milo, Tricia Stanhope and her husband Raymond of Brownville; 25 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. In Madison, Friday December 14, 2007, Jean Trench Smith, formerly of Broad St. Extension, Guilford. Wife of the late (Tad) Dewitt D. Smith. Beloved mother of Lorna (Ken) Buchta, Marilyn (Chip) Leslie, all of Guilford, Barbara (Geoffrey) Goddard of Rockport, MA., and Cynthia Smith Sandrey of Guilford. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by two sisters Virginia Davis and Charlotte Flesche. Mrs. Smith grew up in Fair Haven and summered in Leetes Island and resided there in later years. PONTECORVO, JENNIE
Jennie Marie Petronzi Pontecorvo of London Dr., Hamden, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 10th at the age of 93. Jennie was born on June 25, 1914, in New Haven. and was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Frank Pontecorvo. She was predeceased by her parents, Esther Ambrose Petronzi and Gennaro Petronzi and brothers Joseph and Ben Petronzi. Jennie is survived by her devoted children Anthony F. Pontecorvo, Jr. of Branford, Louise Delaney and her husband Robert of Wethersfield and Esther DeLucia and her husband Robert of Glastonbury. She also leaves loving grandchildren Kevin Delaney and his wife Heather, Sarah DeLucia Bierman and her husband Brad, Katherine DeLucia Dall and her husband Jamie, and Christopher DeLucia. Great grandchildren Tyler and Paige Bierman, Michael Delaney, and Henry Dall, as well as sisters-in-law Antoinette Petronzi and Justine Petronzi, nieces, nephews and cousins will all remember her with love. Jennie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and had many close friends. She was a fantastic cook, and was especially known for her brasciole, great soups, and sauce and pasta dishes. She loved spending time with her family and traveling throughout the United States and Italy with her late husband, who was the love of her life. She and "Teck" were married for over 49 years when he passed away in 1990. Jennie also enjoyed following UCONN womens basketball, the New York Yankees, the Mass on TV, Regis Philbin, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She was a communicant of St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church in Hamden for over 50 years, and was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella at St. Stephens. she was also involved in several senior citizens groups. Jennie stopped driving at the ripe old age of 90. MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Chapel St. New Haven, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours. FEDOCK, MARY L.
Mary L. Fedock, age 98 of Wallingford, the widow of Joseph J. Fedock, died Friday, December 7, 2007 in the Skyview Nursing Home in Wallingford. Born in Monessen, PA to the late Anthony and Mary Petrik Liscinsky she had been a life long Stratford resident prior to moving to Cheshire. She was a member of the Stratford Baldwin Center Seniors and the Cheshire Senior Center. Survivors include her beloved children, two sons Joseph J. Fedock and his wife Theresa of Laconia NH and Anthony F. Fedock and his wife Cindy of Milford; two daughters Mary S. Gulyas and her husband Raymond of New Mexico and Helen F. Kosko and her husband William of Ansonia; 9 loving grandchildren and 11 cherished great-grandchildren; a brother Joseph Liscinsky of Newtown; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews in the United States and Czechoslovakia. She also leaves behind several dear friends and acquaintances who will truly miss her. A warm caring person, she loved painting, crocheting, bingo and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Anthony and Steven; two sisters Anna and Helen; a step brother, John; three sister-in-law; a niece, Joan Clements; and her loving grandson Anthony (TJ) Fedock. William U. Hubbard, 79, retired Deputy Police Chief of East Haven, loving husband of 58 years to Bernice Johnson Hubbard died Dec. 11, 2007 in Ct Hospice. Father of Janice Hubbard of East Haven and William A. (Diane) Hubbard of Bellingham, MA. Grandfather of Richard Esposito, Michelle, Kristen, William Jr., Jennifer and Jacqueline Hubbard. Brother of Arthur (Connie) Hubbard of West Haven and the late Phyllis Stanley. Son of the late Arthur M. and Ruffenna Ulrich Hubbard. Bill joined the East Haven Police Dept. Nov. 1, 1953, and was appointed Deputy Chief in 1966, retiring in July of 1992. He was a member of the East Haven Stoners, East Haven Rotary and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was also a member of the Harry Bartlet American Legion Post 89 of East Haven, the New Haven County Detectives Assn. and CT Chief of Police Assn. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. CARL, HARRY I., JR.
Harry Irving Carl, Jr., 91, a longtime resident of West Haven who most recently lived in Branford, passed peacefully into the next life Dec. 11, 2007, with his beloved wife of 63 years, Catherine Scallen Carl, by his side. Devoted above all to his wife and family, he is also survived by his daughters and their families: Kathleen and Dennis Jones of Lebanon, Ohio, Patricia Carl-Stannard and Edward Stannard of Branford, Eileen Tobin of Clinton and Dr. Timothy Tobin of Old Saybrook, four grandchildren, Patricia Habenicht and her husband Rob, Brian and Meagan Tobin and Luke Stannard. He also leaves his "fourth daughter", Barbara Gallagher Jarry, and devoted neighbor, Maria Stevens. Harry was born June 29, 1916, in West Hartford, son of the late Harry I. and Florence Lawson Carl. He was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Austin and his twin, Helen Wasserman. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Merchant Marine, circling the globe, and braving, among other missions, the dangerous Murmansk run. He graduated from the University of New Haven with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for International Silver, Electrolux, the Stanley Works and the Perkin-Elmer Corp., where he took part in development of the Hubble Space Telescope. A private recreational pilot, he was a member of the Clinton Flying Club. He was also a literacy volunteer and an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and Ohio State football teams. He also played the saxophone in Big Bands in the Hartford area. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at Trinity Episcopal Church on the Green, Temple and Chapel Streets, New Haven. A reception will follow at the church. CUTLER, JAMES WESTFORD, JR.
James Westford Cutler Jr., born February 27, 1932 died Wednesday December 12 at Middlesex Hospital Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Lucinda Sulzbacher Cutler, three sons and their wives, James Westford Cutler III and Maura Cutler of Madison, CT, Alexander Charles Cutler and Laura Cutler of Pembroke, Bermuda and Winter Harbor, Maine and Peter Noble Cutler and Dianna of Fairfield, CT. He leaves his very beloved grandchildren James Westford Cutler IV, Mary Isabel Cutler and Lucinda Grace Cutler of Madison, Laura Anna Cutler and Alexander Felix Cutler of Bermuda and Garrett Noble Cutler and Elizabeth Brooks Cutler of Fairfield. He is survived by his sister Kate Leigh Cutler of Bay Head, NJ and was predeceased by his parents James Westford Cutler and Katherine Noble Cutler of Mantoloking, NJ and his sister Virginia Cutler Sparck of Palo Alto, CA. James graduated from University of Vermont and was a member of the Boulder Society and Sigma Phi. Mr. Cutler was a retired Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, having served for 29 years in the Korean Conflict, Hawaii, Philippines, Japan and then at Governors Island, NJ and New Haven, CT. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Madison, the Madison Beach Club, the Essex Yacht Club and the Moorings Club in Vero Beach, Florida. He was also a member of the Republican Town Committee of Killingworth, CT. There will be a memorial service at 11:00am, Saturday, December 22 at the First Congregational Church of Madison. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Middlesex Hospital Development Fund or Disabled Veterans of America. Arrangements are with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 1315 Boston Post Rd Guilford.
