ALPERT, PHYLLIS MARCIA EFLAND
Phyllis Marcia Efland Alpert died peacefully on Nov. 19th at the Health Care facility where she spent the past 3 years struggling with the devastating effects of Alzheimers disease. She leaves behind two children, Jeffrey and Glenn Alpert, and four grandchildren who she loved very dearly, Jessica, David, Jeremy and Isabel. She will always be remembered for her laughter her sense of humor, and her generosity. Phyllis spent much of her later years working to raise funds in order to purchase Seeing Eye dogs for the blind. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at the Joseph Slifka Center located at 80 Wall St in New Haven, on Sunday December 23rd at 1:00pm. All who knew her are invited to attend a celebration of the life of Phyllis Marcia Alpert. Funeral Arrangements were in care of the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, New Haven (203-562-8244).

FENN, CAROLINE B.
Mrs. Caroline B. Fenn, age 102, of Milford, beloved wife of the late B. Russell Fenn, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Fenn was born on October 2, 1905 in New Britain to the late Charles H. and Caroline Bunnell Broadwell. She worked at the former Bushnell Hardware Store in West Haven for over 40 years and during that time she enjoyed participating in a Duck Pin Bowling League. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ Congregational in Milford and a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club. Mrs. Fenn is survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friends, John, Susan and Colby Connelly of Milford. Friends and Family may call on Monday, December 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a service to follow at 12 noon in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ Congregational, 34 West Main St. Milford, CT 06460.

BINKOWSKI, MISS HELEN
Miss Helen Binkowski, age 80 of John St., Derby, died December 13, 2007, at her home following a short illness. Miss Binkowski was born in Derby on March 9, 1927. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Grabowsky Binkowski. Miss Binkowski was a lifelong resident of Derby and communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Ansonia. She was a graduate of Derby High School, Central Connecticut State University and earned her Masters Degree at the University of Bridgeport. She was a high school business teacher for 38 years having taught in NY, Southbury, and for the last 20 years of her career at East Haven High School. Miss Binkowski is survived by brothers, John Binkowski and his wife Martha, Paul Binkowski, William Binkowski and his wife Mary, all of Derby, and Msgr. George Binkowski of NY; a beloved sister, Sister Anne (Katherine Binkowski) of the Mother of God Academy in Stamford; sister-in-law, Josephine Binkowski of Derby; many loving nephews and nieces including Alice O'Doy and Jean Petriw Walker of Derby. She was predeceased by sisters Mary Mudry and her husband, Paul, Anna Petriw and her husband, Stephen, Julia Binkowski, Peter Binkowski, and a nephew, Stephen Petriw. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007, at 9:15 A.M. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, at 10:00 AM. Springtime interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church or to St. Ann's Nursery, 111 W.North St., Stamford, CT 06902. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to CT Hospice Homecare of Shelton.

PECK, CARROLL A.
In Newburyport, Mass, December 14, 2007, Carroll Alice Sisk Peck of 37 Atkinson St, Newburyport, Mass., beloved mother of Elizabeth Wilkenson of Newbury, Mass., Raymond A. Peck, III of New Haven and Robert S. Peck of West Haven, cherished grandmother of Jesse and Dylan Wilkenson and beloved sister of Edward J. Sisk, Jr. of New Mexico, Patrick H. Sisk of Madison, Robert E. Sisk of Wallingford, Mary Rose McManus of North Haven, Frances Stillman of Florida and the late Thomas R. Sisk. Mrs. Peck was born in New Haven, September 28, 1935, daughter of the late Edward J. and Alice Carroll Sisk. She was a former resident of Yale Avenue in New Haven, before moving to Newburyport several years ago. Funeral services will be held privately with interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. DURKIN, VINCENT J., JR.
Vincent "Bob" J. Durkin, Jr., husband of Helen Tomczyk Durkin of 144 East Ave., West Haven, died suddenly on Dec. 13, 2007. He was born in New Haven on July 23, 1922, son of the late Vincent J. Durkin, Sr. and Eleanor Lyman Durkin. He was the father of Richard (Kathy) Durkin of Grawn, MI. James Durkin of Norfolk, VA and Kenneth (Marion) Durkin of North Branford; grandfather of Karen (Jason) Rispoli and Keith (Noelle) Durkin of North Branford, Paul (Kari) Durkin of Grand Rapids, MI, Kristina Stewart of Norfolk, VA and Shane Durkin of TN; great grandfather of Hanna and Jake Rispoli and Kaleigh Durkin of North Branford, Landon Durkin of Crown, MI and Krya and Karene Stewart of Norfolk, VA; and sister of Dorothy Smith of West Haven and the late Shirley Monahan and Eleanor Mitchell. He retired in 1981 after 33 years as an engineer for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army with the 308 Infantry Regiment during WWII in France and Germany and was a life member of the AMVETS. He was a member of the Fr. Curtin Council, K of C, the West Haven Yacht Club and the West Shore Horseshoe League. He was also an active bowler at Woodlawn and New Haven baseball leagues, as well as umpiring baseball and referring basketball at the YMCA. Funeral from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, Tuesday morning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Vianney Church at 11:00. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8. Burial in All Saints Cemetery with military honors.

PEREZ, BLANCA
Blanca Perez, 93, of Hamden, CT, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Saint Raphaels Hospital. Born on May 27, 1914 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Manuel Perez and Angela Martinez. She was a member of CCR- Getfemami Pentecostal Church, and widow of the late Victoriano Viera. Survivors include sons Antonio Perez of West Haven, Anibal Garcia of Puerto Rico, Angel Luis Viera of New Haven; daughters Adela & Virginia Pitre, Luz M. Garcia all of Puerto Rico and Ana Espinosa of Hamden; 37 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. Services took place from 4 to 7pm, Thursday, December 13, 2007 at CCR-Getfemami Church, 555 Columbus Ave., New Haven. Services entrusted to Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven.

FRANCO, JOSE ANTONIO
Jose Antonio Franco, 45 of 619 Campbell Ave., West Haven died Monday December 3, 2007 in Coamo, Puerto Rico. He was a son of the late Wilfredo and Francisca DeJesus Franco. He is survived by several children, a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 at the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. CASTELOT, PATRICIA
Mrs. Patricia Castelot, age 76, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Frederic Castelot, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2007 in CT Hospice, Branford. Daughter of the late Walter and Pearl Imhoff Reynolds, she was born on May 17, 1931 in Bronx, NY. She was an elementary school librarian in the Milford school system for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, trivia, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Devoted mother of Susan Castelot of New Rochelle, she is also survived by a brother, Walter Reynolds of Venice, FL, a sister-in-law, Evelyn McCormick and her husband Ronald, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday, December 17, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Service to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. Adeline Nargi Balzano of Rice Terrace, Branford died December 12, 2007 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. Wife of the late Michael Balzano. Mother of Michael (Barbara) and Richard Balzano. Sister of Mary Fallo and the late Edith Pantani, Josephine Triumfo, Bernard, Carmen, Marty, Armand and Baptist Nargi. Grandmother of Michael, Cheryl, Richard and James. Great grandmother of Aurelia Caserta and Lavinia Mia. Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 11 Wooster Pl. Monday morning at 9:15. WAYNE MELVIN TOLSON
Wayne Melvin Tolson was born in New Haven, CT on September 11, 1942 to the late Lloyd Tolson and Shirley Tolson Wilcox. Wayne succumbed at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT after a long illness on December 12, 2007. Wayne graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1960. He attended Howard Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Howard in 1975. Wayne's work experience in the public and private sectors demonstrated that he is a talented and well-respected leader in the community. Wayne worked as General Manager and Assistant Vice President for SNET/SBC. He was involved in a variety of areas of senior level management. They include Operations, Human Resources, Personnel Management, Marketing, and Labor Relations. Wayne also worked as Labor Relations Officer and Consultant for the New Haven Public School District. Wayne is a member of the New Haven Consistory #7, Royal Arch Masons and Widows Son's Lodge No.1, Prince Hall. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Chi Omicron Chapter, New Haven, CT. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Walterine Tolson, a son Wayne Melvin Tolson, Jr. (Madeline), two grandchildren, Wayne Melvin Tolson, III and Taina Tolson. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Rev. Charles D. Walker, his mother, Shirley Tolson Wilcox, and his father Lloyd Tolson. Howard K. DROUIN, RAYMOND L.
Deep River- Raymond L. Drouin, age 82, passed away at his home on December 11, 2007. He was born in Woonsocket, RI on May 8, 1925 to the late Lucien and Florence (Choquett) Drouin. Raymond was an Army Sgt. serving in WWII where he received several medals. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design where he went on to be a prominent Architect in both Rhode Island and Connecticut. Raymond raised several champion sporting dogs for the American Kennel Club. He was a member of the AIA and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening fishing and the sea but especially spending time with family. He leaves behind a wife Frances Drouin, a son Robert Drouin and his wife Maureen of Madison, a daughter Louise Drouin of Kennebunk, Maine, a son Philip Drouin and his wife Nancy of Maryland and a daughter Elizabeth Drouin of Westbrook. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Brian, Brett, Julia and Seth. A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret in Clinton on Wednesday, November 19th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SORRENTINO, GRACE
Grace Sorrentino, 87, of East Haven, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007. Grace was born in New Haven, July 31, 1920. Grace was married to Warren (Hardy) Sorrentino for 60 years until his passing in 2003. Grace leaves behind three children, Warren (Hardy) & Kate Sorrentino, Larry & Veronica (Bunny) Smith and Wayne and Debra Rigney. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Heather and David Stearns, Scott Sorrentino and Jacqueline Rigney and three great-grandchildren Michael, Lauren and Will Stearns. She also leaves behind her cherished lifelong friends, Mary and Ted Peters. Grace also leaves behind two people who always held a special place in her heart as she considered them her children, Peggy Pongonis and Gideon Gebreyesus and she leaves her dear friend Linda Potter. Grace was the daughter of Vernon and Anna Snow. She leaves her brother, Harold "Buster" Snow. She was pre-deceased by her two brothers Vernon and Charlie Snow. There wasn't a person Grace didn't befriend. To know Grace was to adore her. She was always cheerful and encouraging. Her door was always open and there was always food and coffee for all. CROSBY, SUMNER MCKNIGHT JR.
Sumner McK. Crosby, Jr., age 70 of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2007. Born in New Haven, in 1937, Sumner spent most of his life in and around New Haven. He served a great many philanthropic roles, especially in the support and development of the arts and education in the Greater New Haven area. He was the son of Yale Art History Professor Sumner McK. Crosby and Sarah T. Crosby. Predeceased by his beloved wife of forty seven years, Susan W. Crosby, he is survived by by his children, Sumner McK. Crosby III, of Coatesville, PA, Timothy B. Crosby, of Edmonds, WA, and Sarah C. Vokey, of Rockport, ME, and by his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers William F. Crosby, of Tucson, AZ, Frederick T. Crosby, of Old Lyme, CT, and Gerrit L. Crosby, of Hartland, VT. Educated at the Foote School, Phillips-Andover and Yale, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps before making a career in banking and insurance in the New Haven area. For several decades he was a board member and president of the board of the Carolyn Foundation, of Minneapolis, MN. After retiring as a partner from Insurance Management, Incorporated, he deeply involved himself in philanthropic ventures that included raising significant funds for numerous organizations in New Haven. He served on the boards of the Ulysses S. Grant Foundation, Hopkins School, Common Ground High School, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Long Wharf Theater, the International Festival of Arts and Ideas, and served as president of the board at the Arts Council of Greater New Haven and chair of the Greater New Haven Arts Stabilization Committee, as well as other organizations. He loved the outdoors, spending all the time that he could maintaining and improving his home landscape, as well as enjoying the woods and waters of Western Maine, with fly rod in hand. He worked tirelessly to preserve the wild nature of that part of Maine, through his board positions on the Oquossoc Angling Association and the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust. There will be a private interment at Eastside Cemetery in Woodbridge, and a public memorial service, to be followed by a reception, after the New Year. Arrangements are being made by Hawley Lincoln Memorial Funeral Services, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven.. WALL, DONALD H.
In this city of New Haven, Donald H. (Don) Wall, 88, of Woodward Avenue, died December 13, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving children. He was the son of the late Richard S. and Mary C. Wall and was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth J. (Faherty) Wall to whom he was married for 52 years and by grandson Chris. He was the cherished father of Donald E. Wall and wife Val of Orange, Kathleen J. Moore and husband Charles of Marlborough, MA, Maureen E. Angell and husband Bill of Bloomington, IL, Michael J. Wall of New Haven, and Barbara Arlene Eiben and husband Karl of Guilford. He was the loving grandfather of Daniel P. Wall, Jonathan M. Wall, Cheri M. Moore, Ryan M. Wall and wife Vanessa, Meghan E. Wall, Stephen C. Moore, Michael P. Eiben, Patrick S. Eiben, and Kevin C. Eiben. A man of great integrity and humor, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was born in New London on Christmas Day, 1918. A member of the first graduating class of Hamden High School in 1935, he began his career by working his way up to the position of chief accounting clerk at Sperry and Barnes in New Haven where he worked for over 28 years. A "notch baby, " he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in World War II, faithfully served as a volunteer at the Hospital of St. Raphaels GI Lab for 11 years, and was a parishioner of St. Bernadettes Parish for over 50 years. In 1992, he retired at the age of 72 from Leonard Concrete Pipe in Hamden where he kept the books for 17 years. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Don at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church, 385 Townsend Avenue, New Haven. Family and friends may call Monday, December 17 from 4-8 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Foundation, Inc., 1450 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT, 06511 designated for the Bette and Don Wall Endowment Fund established for volunteer activities at the Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care.

SUTCLIFFE, RICHARD E. SR.
In New Haven, Dec. 13, 2007, Richard Edward Sutcliffe, Sr., 75, of Atwater St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 in St. Francis Church, Ferry St., New Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Wednesday 4 - 8 PM.
