Vera Grosso, former Ridgefielder
Vera A. Spinaci Montanari Grosso, 84, of Bethel, the sister of three Ridgefielders, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Rocco J. Grosso.
Born in New London in 1921, she grew up in Ridgefield and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1940. She was the daughter of Catterina Montanari and Gino Spinaci.
Along with her late husband, she established the Grosso Oil Company, which remained the family business for 50 years. Mrs. Grosso and her husband traveled extensively and had a winter home in Cape Coral, Fla.
Mrs. Grosso is survived by her son, Daniel, of Bethel; her daughter, Terri Rotella, and her husband Frank of Bethel; two grandsons; and three brothers, Frank Montanari, Fred Montanari and Andy Montanari, all of Ridgefield. Another brother, Gus Montanari, died before her. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Bethel, on June 29. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel.
Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, handled the arrangements.
Kathleen Flanagan Webb, nurse
Kathleen Flanagan Webb, a nurse and former Ridgefielder, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Stanley Tippett Hospice House in Needham, Mass.
She was born in Greenwich, graduating from Greenwich High School. She earned her R.N. from St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She began her career as an assistant to the chief of surgery at Greenwich Hospital, followed by serving as a private duty nurse in Ridgefield. She then worked as a psychiatric nurse at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan.
While living in Ridgefield from 1962 to 1998, she was an active member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church. She was a member of the Franciscan order.
She is survived by her son, Edwin J. Webb Jr., daughter-in-law, Sheri Webb, grandson Daniel Webb of Foxboro, Mass., and sister, Mary Cucuel of State College, Pa.
'A devoted mother and grandmother, she moved to Cohasset, Mass., after her retirement to spend time with her family,' said her family. 'Many memories were made and will be cherished of her hosting parties with family and friends at her condominium with breathtaking views of the ocean.'
A memorial mass in her honor will be held on Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Parish in Greenwich. Graveside service will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Michael White, 44, banker, musician
Michael R. White of Ridgefield, a banker and a country-western musician, died on Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. He was 44 years old and the husband of Elizabeth 'Betsy' Sheridan White.
Mr. White was born in Dallas, Texas, on Jan. 28, 1961, son of Howard L. and Patricia Eder White of Mesquite, Texas. He attended Mesquite schools and graduated from the Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury with a bachelor's degree in finance.
Mr. White came to Ridgefield in 1985, joining the staff of the former Village Bank and Trust Company. When the bank was sold in 1994, he joined Sumitomo Trust and Banking of Hoboken, N.J., specializing in international banking.
Mr. White enjoyed music, and played bass with the local country western band, Wendy-Mae and the Lost Dogs.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan. But most of all, his family said, he enjoyed being with his children, attending their athletic and school functions and taking them expeditions to Disney World several times a year.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Besides his wife of 22 years and his parents, Mr. White is survived by a son, Carter Lex White; a daughter, Chelsea Elizabeth White; a brother, Brian White and his wife, Laurie; two sisters, Donna White and Jeannette White; his father- and mother-in-law, Philip and Kathleen Sheridan; four sisters-in-law, Kathleen Stricks and her husband, Martin, Judge Susan Reynolds and her husband, Thomas, of Ridgefield, Maureen Michaelsen and her husband, Howard, and Eileen Sheridan; four brothers-in-law, Philip Sheridan and his wife, Kyoung Suk, Patrick Sheridan and his wife, Lynn, Peter Sheridan and his wife, Laura, and Michael Sheridan and his wife, Patricia; 19 nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and great-nephews.
A son, Sean Michael White, died before him
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Leroy Hayes Lewis, infant
Leroy Hayes Lewis, son of Tyson and Claire Lewis of Manhattan, died June 16, 2005.
Born June 15, 2005, Leroy was the grandson of Bob and Gerri Lewis of West Mountain Road, and Joanne Lamb Hayes and Tom and Phyllis Hayes of Manhattan.
In his short life Leroy won the hearts of his family. He was named for his great-grandfather, the late Leroy Davis Lamb, and died on his namesake's birthday.
Besides his parents and grandparents, Leroy is survived by four great-grandparents, John and Eileen Karwoski of Silver Birch Lane and Bob and Jean Lewis of Peaceable Ridge; four aunts and uncles, Jonathan and Heather Nanberg of Manhattan, Gillian Lewis of San Diego and Christian Lewis of Manhattan; and many great-aunts, -uncles and cousins.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Leroy Hayes Lewis Research Fund (Attention Joyce Ligi, Ridgefield Bank, 155 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877) and will be used to advance the research of stillbirths and sudden infant death syndrome.
Audrey Mullin, 28-year resident
Audrey Ann Mullin of Ridgefield died of cancer Saturday, June11, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. She was 56 years old and the wife of Scott Mullin.
Mrs. Mullin was born on Aug. 6, 1948, in Bridgeport, a daughter of Clifford and Audrey Albright. She grew up in Stratford and Huntington, and graduated from Shelton High School.
She had been a Ridgefielder for 28 years.
Besides her husband and her parents, she is survived by a brother, Clifford Jr., of Huntington, and four nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.

Mark Connolly, 41, house restorer
Mark Connolly, 41, of Ridgefield, Victorian home restorer, master carpenter and home remodel specialist died on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Connolly was born in Orange Grove, CA, May 8, 1964, a son of Gillian (Scully) Spencer of New York, NY and the late Thomas H. Connolly.
He was a resident of Scarsdale, NY attending Scarsdale schools and a graduate of Edgemont High School, Greenburgh, NY.
Mr. Connolly trained as a carpenter by completing timber framing course in the Northwest, learned the skill of using Japanese hand tools as he learned the art of restoration of Victorian homes in San Francisco.
His craftsmanship and skill afforded him the opportunity as a master carpenter to restore homes in New Mexico, California and Washington prior to relocating to Ridgefield.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past four years, he was a partner in Safco, a local restoration and remodeling company. Their restoration work appears about the Ridgefield area.
In addition to his mother of New York, NY, a brother Christopher Connolly of New York, NY, an uncle, several aunts and cousins survive him.
A Memorial Service will take place Sunday, June 19, at noon, at the Ridgefield Community Center. Friends and relatives will be received from noon until 4.

Daniel W. McLeod, 76, engineer, Army veteran
Daniel W. McLeod, 76, of Ridgefield, husband of Phyllis 'Pat' McLeod, died on Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2005 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. McLeod was born in Brooklyn, New York, October 13, 1928, son of Frank and Margaret (Malone) McLeod. He attended Brooklyn schools and graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
In early years, Mr. McLeod was employed in Philadelphia, PA when he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War era.
Upon honorable discharge from the US Army, Mr. McLeod joined Norden Systems of Norwalk and retired in 1991 after forty years of service.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past thirty-nine years coming from Stamford, he enjoyed the outdoors, enjoyed sailing, skiing, hiking and canoeing. An active member of the Sierra Club, Mr. McLeod served as a trail ranger for the Ridgefield Conservation Commission and was a member of the Snokat Ski Club of Westchester. He was also enjoyed working with computers and the constructing of web sites.
In addition to his wife Pat of thirty-nine years, a son, Christopher S. McLeod of McKinney, TX and Danielle J. McLeod of Denver, CO survive him.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Saturday from 4PM to 6PM.

Patricia Hyde, former Ridgefielder
Patricia Mercurio Hyde, 69, of Frederick County, Va., a homemaker and a former Ridgefielder, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Hyde was born on April 28, 1937 in Fairfield, daughter of the late Angelo James and Grace Connell Mercurio.
A Ridgefielder for many years, living on Florida Road, she was the wife of Brian D. Hyde who was raised in Ridgefield and whose family owned Hyde's Wines & Liquors, a longtime Main Street business. She married
Brian D. Hyde on Sept. 7, 1964 in Fairfield.
Here, Mrs. Hyde had been a member of the Fifth Connecticut Regiment, was active in supporting school programs and had belonged to the Jaycee Wives.
She had worked at Bedient's Hardware for many years and later Keogh's Paint & Hardware in Branchville before moving to Virginia in 1986.
In Virginia, Mrs. Hyde was a member of the Shenandoah Smockers Club, receiving many awards for Japanese embroidery.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Paul V. Hyde of Winchester, Va., and Sara E. Hyde of Ashburn, Va.; one granddaughter, a sister, and a brother. Her son, James Edward 'Spencer' Hyde, died before her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, June 11, at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

J. Brayton Fogerty, marketing expert
J. Brayton Fogerty Jr. of Ridgefield, a marketing executive, died on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. He was 72 years old and the husband of Susan Fogerty.
Mr. Fogerty was born on Feb. 15, 1933 in New York City, the son of J. Brayton Fogerty Sr. and Rose Finnegan Fogerty. He was educated at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and Iona College and served in combat in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was the founder of Fogerty, Farley and Associates, a worldwide marketing company, and was actively engaged in his business at the time of his death.
'His passion for golf was well known at Salem Golf Club where he was a member since 1969 and served as president for many, many years,' his family said.
Besides his wife, Mr. Forgerty is survived by his six children, J. Brayton Fogerty III and his partner, Michele Tayler, of Redding, William Fogerty and his wife, Nancy, of Alpharetta, Ga., Margaret Rattigan and her husband, James, of West Hartford, Stephen Fogerty and his wife, Diane, of Wilton, Susan Griffith and her husband, Robert, of Niskayuna, N.Y., Elizabeth Bell and her husband, Ryan, of Hoboken, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Caitlin and Kelly Fogerty, Peter Fulton, Susan Mae and Thomas Rattigan, Erin and Dennis Fogerty, and Claire, Maura and Emma Griffith; and four of his six siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday in St. Mary's Church.
Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.
