Al Lucas
(December 20, 1921 - April 5, 2012)

Adolph “Al” Lucas born December 20, 1921 passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2012 surrounded by his family with his beloved wife Kay of 65 years. Al was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary (Prvasky) Lucas, a brother Michael, a sister Stephanie and a daughter Patricia Ann Lucas. Al is survived by his wife Mary Katherine Karvosky Lucas, “Kay”, who is truly the love of his life, a sister-in-law Eleanor Balint, many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss his quiet love and guidance. Al served in WWII a Sergeant in the United States Army 865th Air Engineering Squadron. He played the bagpipes in the Bridgeport Pipe Band and was a member of the Raymond T. Goldbach VFW post 9460 in Stratford. Al was retired from Harvey Hubbell as an engineer. A special thanks and love to the 8th floor ICU nurses of St. Vincent’s Medical Center who made Al so comfortable and to Fr Skip Karcsinski for his kindness and spiritual guidance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:30AM in St. Mark RC Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery will be private.
MaryAnn Vrona
(August 13, 1917 - April 5, 2012)
MaryAnn Vrona, age 94, of Stratford, passed away on Thursday April 5, 2012 in Ludlowe Health Center, Fairfield. MaryAnn was born in Bridgeport to the late Nicholas and Rose (Biscoe) Vrona and has been a life long area resident. She was a retired executive secretary for General Electric; and was an avid New York Yankee fan, and enjoyed watching the games with her nephew Anthony. Survivors include her beloved niece Melanie Cervone and her husband Anthony Sr., and her great-nephew Anthony Cervone Jr., all of Stratford. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her sisters Mildred Vrona and Elizabeth Duska. Funeral services will take place on Monday April 9th at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford.
Gloria S. Kruk Ivanoff
(June 25, 1923 - April 4, 2012)
Gloria S. Kruk Ivanoff, age 88, of Trumbull, widow of Stephen G. Ivanoff, passed away on Wednesday April 4, 2012 in Maefair Health Center, Trumbull. Mrs. Ivanoff, a retired employee of Remington Arms was born in Ansonia to the late Joseph and Mildred (Chupko) Kruk and has been a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Stone Business College. Gloria was an avid bowler and a member of the Barnum Duckpin Lanes, and the Remington Engineering and Accounting Bowling Leagues; she was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary # 177 since 1957. Survivors include her beloved children Vivian Philbrick and her husband Ellsworth of Monroe, and Nicholas Ivanoff and his wife Carolyn of Seymour, her “adopted daughter” Geraldine Swanson and her husband Marc of Stratford, 5 cherished grandchildren who were the pride of her life Stephen, George and Joseph Philbrick, and Nicholas and Genevieve Ivanoff, and a nephew Marc St. Onge and his family of CA. In addition to her beloved husband Stephen and her parents, she was pre-deceased by her sister Stella Hylwa and her husband Paul, and her sister-in-law Vera St. Onge. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday April 10th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, 1540 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Steven Belonick. Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to the Holy Ghost Myrrh Bearers or to Maefair HCC Resident Council.
Jeanne C. Lindeman Elsasser
(March 1, 1932 - April 2, 2012)
Jeanne C. Lindeman Elsasser, age 80, of Stratford, beloved wife of Arthur Elsasser, passed away on Monday April 2, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Jeanne, a retired manager for the Fairfield Citizen Newspaper, was born in Elmira, New York to the late Henry V. and Helen Bridge Lindeman and has been a long time area resident. She was an active Easter Seals volunteer for many years. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband include her devoted children Mark Elsasser and his wife JoAnna, Leigh Basta and her husband Keith all of Stratford, and Edward Elsasser of NJ, her cherished grandson Alex, a brother Lee N. Lindeman and his special friend Betsy of Cape Cod and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 7th at 11:30 a.m. in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church 1045 Old Academy Road Fairfield, CT. 06824. Interment will be private. The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Pl. Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Wanda Camacho Otero
(February 16, 1927 - April 2, 2012)
Wanda Camacho Otero, age 85, of Stratford, the widow of Isidro Otero, passed away on Monday April 2, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Otero, a homemaker was born in Camaguey, Cuba to the late Jose and America (Vega) Camacho and has been a long time area resident. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her devoted children Isidro Otero, Jose Otero and his wife Doreen, Raisa Williamson, Wanda Lopez and her husband Francisco, Bertha Betso and her husband Gus, and Maria Kei, 10 cherished grandchildren Tammy Fischer Brandon and Adrian Lopez, Gus, Trina, Ashleigh, and Madelynn Betso, Hallie Otero, and Rebecca and Nathan Kei, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother Boris Camacho and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 4th at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church 298 Second Hill Lane Stratford. Entombment will be in St. Monica’s Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. At the family’s request calling hours have been omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Pl. Stratford.
George T. Macura
(April 15, 1924 - March 30, 2012)

George T. Macura, age 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of Dorothy Varholak Macura, passed away on Friday March 30, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Macura was born in Bridgeport son of the late Thomas and Suzanna (Kopcik) Macura and was a life long area resident. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Hornet. George was a retired Lieutenant for the Stratford Fire Department, and was an avid Fly Fisherman and enjoyed hunting; he was also a member of St. John’s #8 Masonic Lodge in Stratford. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his devoted daughter Karen Moffatt of Derby, his cherished granddaughter Kerri Moffatt, who was his shining star, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his son Thomas and a brother Rudy. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday April 4th at 9:45 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10:30 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to St. John’s Church in George’s memory.
Frank J. LaCroix Jr.

Frank J. LaCroix Jr., age 61, of Trumbull passed away in his home on Wednesday March 28, 2012. Mr. LaCroix, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard was born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Anne (Balogach) LaCroix and has been a life long area resident. He had worked in sporting goods sales for Arctic Sport Shop, Bridgeport and Sports Authority in Milford. Survivors include his devoted son Frank J. Lacroix III and his wife Jenny, 2 grandchildren Frankie and Alyssa, 4 brothers David, Kenneth, Lawrence, and Christopher, 3 sisters Deborah Gaudio, Susanne Rooney and Jennifer LaCroix and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and interment are private and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
John (Jack) J. McGovern
(July 25, 1936 - March 28, 2012)

John (Jack) Joseph McGovern, III, Age 75 of Shelton, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday March 28th, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Carol Mongillo McGovern. Jack was born in Bridgeport to the late John Joseph McGovern, II, and Marie Lesko McGovern. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1954-1957. Jack was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, Quinnipiac University and the Norwalk Hospital School of Medical Technology. As a Med Tech, he worked in the Chemistry Lab at Norwalk Hospital for 30 years. He also earned a degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University. He taught 6th grade at Wilcoxson School in Stratford for 34 years. Jack attained a Master’s Degree and 6-year certificate in Teaching from the University of Bridgeport. He was a passionate and inspirational Educator. He also served as an officer of the Stratford Education Association. He loved baseball and was an avid Yankee fan. Jack was a devoted father and Papa to his 8 grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by daughter Laurie Saymon and husband, Robert of Milford; son John McGovern IV and wife Ginny of Shelton; daughter Amy Hosney and husband Jon of Killingworth; and daughter Kathleen McGovern of Milford; grandchildren, Matthew, Jenna and Michael Saymon; Emily McGovern, Jon Paul and Scott Hosney; and Dominic and Jeremy Persichilli; and his brother Dennis McGovern of Chesapeake, VA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers James and Terrance McGovern and his sister Rose Marie Riccio. A special thank you to the dedicated 2nd floor staff of the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 3rd at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Boston Avenue Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Anne Kober
(October 22, 1921 - March 29, 2012)
Anne Kaminsky Kober, age 90, of Stratford, the widow of John Kober, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Shelton Lakes Health Center. Mrs. Kober, a homemaker was born in Stratford to the late Michael and Bertha (Kovach) Kaminski and has been a life long area resident. Anne was a very active, founding member of St. John’s Orthodox Church Silver Lane in Stratford, where she was past president of the Mothers Club and you would always find her baking and cooking there. Survivors include her beloved daughter Joyce Cayer and her husband Jules, 2 grandchildren Josh Cayer and his wife Aimee, and Jeff Cayer and his wife Shariann all of Shelton, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 special nieces Sandra and her husband Dr. Walter Pleban, and Sharon Lawruszko, a special nephew George Kaminsky and his wife Helen and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 9:00 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00 am in St. John’s Canonical Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church, 600 Silver Lane Stratford for a Requiem Funeral Service with Rev. Michael Macura officiating. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-6 pm Panachida will be at 3:30pm.
Helen Fedornak Bundra
(April 9, 1920 - March 21, 2012)
Helen Bundra, age 91, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Joseph Bundra, entered into eternal rest peacefully at her home on March 21, 2012. She was born in Dupont, Pennsylvania on April 9, 1920 to the late Paul and Helen Fedornak. Helen was employed at Remington Arms and Columbia Records in Bridgeport. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Stratford Baldwin Senior Center and received the President’s Volunteer Award numerous times in recognition for her hours spent in service. Helen was a faithful bingo worker at Our Lady of Grace Church for many years, and also helped out at St. James Bingo, both in Stratford. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Trumbull, where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild. When she was able, Helen enjoyed gardening, especially caring for the beautiful azaleas that lined her yard, her trips to the Casinos, and playing Bingo. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. Helen is survived by her devoted daughter Patricia Badowski and her husband Raymond of Stratford, cherished grandchildren, Cheryl Wallace and her husband Andrew of Stratford, Steven Badowski of Brooklyn, New York, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Fedornak, and sisters Anna Barry, Eva Belko, Mary Pavlovic, and Margaret Fedornak. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care, compassion, and support provided by her longtime physician Dr. Frank Spano, cardiologist Dr. Richard Taikowski , the staff of Vitas Hospice Care, and her loving caregivers Agnieszka Kupczyk and Ewa Sienkiewicz. Funeral services will take place on Saturday March 24 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Trumbull for the Office of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
