William J. Kozloski

William J. Kozloski, age 77, of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center in Stratford. Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania to the late Anthony and Stella Kozloski, he has been a long time Stratford resident. Bill was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Stratford Volunteer Fire Company #3, Inc. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Lorraine Lizak Kozloski; a devoted son Mark Kozloski and his wife Sandra of Stratford; 2 cherished grandsons Andrew and Blake Kozloski; a sister-in-law Pat Florentino of the Huntington section of Shelton; a brother-in-law Joseph Balint of Ansonia; a nephew Wayne Golightly and his wife Debbie of Bethel and several other nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by a son Ted Kozloski. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 9:30 AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in St. John Cemetery 500 Moose Hill Road Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
Richard C. "RICK" Grabowski
(December 12, 1967 - June 8, 2011)
Richard C. “RICK” Grabowski, age 43 of Bridgeport formerly of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Rick was born in Bridgeport, beloved son of George Grabowski of Bridgeport and the late Patricia O’Neil Grabowski and has been a life long area resident. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Trumbull, and Southern Connecticut Sate University. He was a devoted father, who loved spending time with his girls, who where his whole life. Survivors in addition to his father, include his beloved daughters Shannon, Halle, and Georgia, his devoted brother Kenneth Grabowski and his wife Coleen of Milford, 2 nieces Melissa and Megan, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 13th at 11 a.m. directly at St. Theresa’s Church 5301 Main Street Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Anna M. Babjak
(January 3, 1926 - June 9, 2011)
Anna M. Babjak, age 85, of Bridgeport, the widow of John Babjak, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Mary (Marcinchak) Pastir, she has been a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Anna was a very active volunteer at St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church and was part of the baking crew, making pirohi and nut and poppy seed rolls. Her favorite pastime was doing puzzles. Survivors include her beloved children Mary Ann Babjak of Bridgeport, John M. Babjak and his wife Carolyn of Milford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 9:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 am in St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Trumbull, with a Divine Liturgy. Internment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7pm. Panachida will be at 4:30PM. Robert B. Ernst

Robert B. Ernst, husband of Marie Chanda Ernst, of Stratford died Sunday evening June 12, 2011, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in the Bronx, New York on August 11, 1922 to the late Dorthea Bellmer Ernst and E. Herman Ernst, he resided in Laurel Beach, Milford, before moving to Stratford. A veteran of the Army Air Corp in WW II, Bob spent over 35 years as a contracts administrator for Norden Systems of Norwalk, CT from which he retired. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Nancy Wilcox and her husband Robert of Naugatuck, Robert S. Ernst and his wife Susan of Stratford, Paula Ernst of Alexandria, VA, and Steven Ernst and his wife Tracy of Westbrook. Bob has seven grandchildren: Mark and Katie Wilcox, Skylar, Tavish, Quinn, Alina and Joseph Ernst, a sister Doris Schmitt of LaConner, WA, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service in the near future will be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 150 Chapel St Stratford, CT. 06614. Gerald (Gary) Berger
(January 14, 1946 - June 6, 2011)
Gerald (Gary) Berger, 65, of Stratford, formerly of the Rowayton section of Norwalk, beloved husband of Marilyn (Franks) Berger, died suddenly at home June 6, 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Keith and his wife Heidi; Todd and his wife Kimberly. Known as Mr. Fix-It, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or repair. His greatest hobby was motor homing and seeing the U.S.A. Lovingly called Poppie by his grandchildren, Mackenzee, Cameron, Lindsay, and Brianne who were the light of his life. Thelma Langer

Thelma Krivitzky Langer, age 93, of Stratford, the widow of Paul Langer, passed away on June 10, 2011 peacefully in her home. Born in Manhattan, New York, to the late Phillip and Jennie (Lipshitz) Krivitzky, she has been a long time Stratford resident. Thelma was a retired social worker for the State of New York. Survivors include her beloved daughter Susan Wetter of Brooklyn, NY and her cherished granddaughter Jennie Wetter-Ross of Boston, MA. She also leaves behind her close friend of over 45 years Gerald Igou of Stratford. Funeral services took place on Sunday, June 12, 2011 in New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, LI.
Clarence A. Peck
(August 27, 1926 - June 16, 2011)
Clarence A. Peck age 84, of Stratford, beloved husband of Zennie Weaver Peck, passed away on Thursday June 16, 2011 in Griffin Hospital, Derby. Mr. Peck, the former proprietor of Peck Plumbing, was born in Middletown, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence H. Peck and Emma (Nornhold) Peck, and has been a long time area resident. He witnessed the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima while, a member of the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine Corp, during WW II. Clarence was also a member of the N.R.A. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, include his devoted children Dayv Peck of Stratford, Daniel Peck of Shelton, Nancy Kuhn and her husband Richard of Newtown, and Danette Broadhurst of Stratford, 5 cherished grandchildren, Amy, Dana, Benjamin, Kerilyn and James, 2 great-granddaughters Sofia and Genesis, and a niece Karen Mandeville. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by a daughter Mary Ellen, a son Thomas, grandsons Adam and Chase and a brother Robert. Friends may meet directly at White Oak Baptist Church 5344 Main St Stratford on Wednesday June 22nd at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery. Kenneth Moscovics
(February 8, 1940 - October 8, 2011)
Kenneth Moscovics Sr., age 71 of North Haven, beloved husband of Barbara Solomon Moscovics, passed away suddenly on Saturday October 8, 2011 in his home. Ken, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, was born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Anna (Hovan) Moscovics, and had been a resident of Orange for many years, before moving to North Haven 6 years ago. He was a graduate of Stratford High School Class of 1958, where he played football. Ken was a retired general foreman for AVCO-Lycoming, and since his retirement has been a faithful employee of Adzima Funeral Home, Stratford. He was an avid gardener, and an enthusiastic fan of all sports, but was especially supportive of youth and high school teams in the area. He was most proud of his children and grandsons’ accomplishments in their various sports. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 49 years, include his devoted children Michael Moscovics of Hamden and Ann Moscovics of Durham, his cherished grandsons Kyle Moscovics, Paul Benjunas, Mitchell Moscovics, and Wesly Benjunas, a brother Joseph Moscovics and his wife Linda of NC, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his beloved son Kenneth Moscovics Jr.A MASS OF CHRISTAIN BURAIL WILL BE CELEBRATED ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 14th at 1:30p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church 498 Second Hill Lane Stratford.Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Eugene Telep

Eugene Telep, age 94, of Stratford, beloved husband of Irene Chuba Telep, passed away on Sunday October 9, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Telep, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army, was born in Bridgeport to the late Alexander and Rose (Gibey) Telep and has been a Stratford resident for 61 years. He was retired from Textron Lycoming, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #15 of Milford. He was also a member of Baldwin, Derby, Shelton, and St. John’s Senior Centers, Fred Oates Ten Pin Bowling League, and Short Beach Men’s Golf League. With a passion for basketball, Gene was an avid U-Conn basketball fan and was a member of the Old Timers Athletic Association of Greater Bridgeport and Stratford. Gene was known to his family and friends for his sharp wits, keen sense of humor, and a fancy to tell amusing jokes. Alongside his love for Sinatra and his music, Gene also loved to Ballroom Dance, where he met his wife Irene at the Pleasure Beach Ballroom in Bridgeport. His captivating personality and charisma will be sadly missed. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Irene of 61 years, include his devoted children Jeffrey Telep of Stratford, and Audrey Reder and her fiancé David Briel of Johnston, RI and several nieces and nephews. Gene was especially fond of his “Granddog Snowy” who fascinated him with many dog tricks. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Samuel, George, Joseph, Peter, and Clement; three sisters, Mildred North, Helen Fedorko, and Katherine Telep. Funeral services will take place on Friday October 14th at 10:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Rose Marie Manente Mascia

Rose Marie Manente Mascia, of Stratford, age 102, widow of Anthony N. Mascia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 11, 2011, in Bishop Wicke HCC, Shelton. Mrs. Mascia, a retired seamstress for Levine Brothers Coat Factory, was born in St. Lawrence, Italy to the late Lorenzo and Louisa (Viccarella) Manente and has been a long time area resident Rose was an original life long member of St. Mark’s Church and their Ladies Guild and Seniors, and also the Baldwin Center. Survivors include her devoted children Andrew Mascia and his wife Grace of NJ, Josephine Burns and her husband Edward of Stratford, daughter-in-law Joyce Mascia of MS, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by a son Lawrence Mascia. Funeral services will take place on Friday October 14th at 9:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Freddie Costello

Freddie Costello, 22, of Stratford, most loving and amazing son of Janet Costello went home to be with the Lord, October 17, 2011. He was a 2007 Platt Tech carpentry program graduate and was attending IT classes in Stamford. Freddie was a dedicated employee of Stanley Steamer. Throughout his life, Freddie was known for his strong love for his family and friends, his kindness, his ability to put a smile on your face, and his free spirit. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Mets fan. Growing up he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball for Sterling House and he excelled in BMX racing. His latest passion was his Mazda; he and his friends spent countless hours working on it at his grandparent’s house. Freddie was and always will be his grandpa’s best buddy and right hand man. Freddie is the love of his mother’s life. In addition to his beloved mother, Freddie leaves behind his grandparents Clifford and Anna Costello of Stratford; his most precious Auntie and godmother Suzanne Dinan and Uncle Billy of Monroe; his Uncle Clifford “Kippy” Costello of Stuart, FL and his cousin and best friend Alisha Speanburg and husband Carl of Seymour. Freddie is also survived by his father, Alfred Zuiewski of Stratford and his grandmother Sandy Zuiewski. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Alfred Zuiewski.Freddie will be deeply missed by many, including his great aunts and uncle, his cousins, and his countless friends. His spirit will be with us forever. Freddie will never be forgotten, our memories will never fade. Paul Nykorchuk, age 88, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Nykorchuk, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War was born in Bridgeport to the late Nicholas and Anastasia (Zboroluk) Mykorchuk, and has been a life long area resident. He was the proprietor of Paul’s Sunoco in Bridgeport. Survivors include his 3 sisters Mildred Buskey of Stratford, Kay Zorka of Bridgeport and Dorothy Lewis of SC, 4 nieces Katherine Corum, Patricia Scott and her husband David, Kathleen Danilowicz and her husband Michael, and Janet Zorka, a nephew Walter Pittam and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday October 11th at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Orthodox Church Oakwood St Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service.
