BRUCE A. HUNTER, JR. age 42 of Anahuac, Texas and formerly of Groton died on Saturday, August 21, 2005 at Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac.
He was born in New London on July 30, 1963 the son of Bruce A. Hunter, SR. of Groton and the late Rita Coffin Hunter.
He worked as a designer for Hollomon Corporation of Houston, Texas. He had worked as a welder at Electric Boat Company in Groton before moving to Texas.
Bruce enjoyed fishing and boating as well as being a ham radio operator.
Besides his father he is survived by a son, Bruce A. Hunter, III and a daughter Alexandra C. Hunter both of Anahuac, three sisters, Anne Nelson of N. Stonington, Paula M. Hunter of Francestown, New Hampshire and Susan E. Hunter of Berkley, CA. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara H. Breeding.
A funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 10 o’clock until the time of the service.

Robert Rockholz
QUAKER HILL - Robert B. Rockholz, 80, of 4 Riverview Place, Quaker Hill died Saturday night at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1925 in Canton, Ohio the son of John H. and Mary Ellen Brook Rockholz. He was married
to Shirley Hassan Rockholz who died November 21, 1999.
Mr. Rockholz graduated from Bulkely High School in New London in 1942. Following graduated he joined the US Army and served during World War II.
Following military service, he attended the University of North Carolina on a football scholarship and graduated in 1950. He is a lifetime member of the UNC Alumni Association.
He was employed as a math teacher at New London High School and served as chairman of the math department., and also was head football coach. Mr. Rockholz was a basketball official and is an honorary lifetime member of the Eastern CT District Board of Approved Basketball Officials.
Following the death of his father, he took over the family business, Rockholz Plumbing and Heating, and ran it until he retired in 2000.
Mr. Rockholz is a 50 year member of Union Lodge #31 AF & AM, a member of the Spinx Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Hartford , a member of the New London Lodge of Elks #360 , a member of the John Colman Prince Post #9, American Legion in New London the Murphy Rathbun Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, the OD Club in Norwich and the Tuckerbung Club of Gales Ferry.
He is survived by 3 sons; Robert J. Rockholz of Navarre Beach, FL, Steven R. Rockholz of Westerly, RI and David H. Rockholz of Quaker Hill, 1 daughter; Pamela B. Davis of Gray, TN, 1 brother; William Rockholz of Nashville, TN, 1 sister; Joan Nowak of Waterford, 6 Grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service open to the public will be held 11:00AM Tuesday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. There are no calling hours. Private burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of S.E. Dolores Beebe
GROTON - Dolores Margaret Meta “Ma” Beebe, 75, of 82 Cranston Drive, Groton died Saturday morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 13, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Gustav and Hildegarde Roeber Keske.
Mrs. Beebe was married
to William H. Beebe, Sr who died June 17, 1988.
She is a Life Member of the Poquonnock Bridge Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and Fleet Reserve Assoc., Branch 20 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Beebe loved spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.
She is survived by 1 son; William H. Beebe, Jr and hiswife Holly of Vernon, CT, 3 daughters; Deb Williams and her husband Raymond of Richmond, RI, Karen Vargo and her husband Chuck of Griswold, CT and Betty Lawson and her husband Jack of Monroe, OH, 1 sister; Hildegarde Keske of Wiscinsin and 11 Grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Burial will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 – 6 PM. Lois Rivard
Lois W. Rivard, 85, of Waterford, died on August 28, 2005, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
She was the widow of Capt. Ephraim P. Rivard, USCG Ret..
She was born March 22, 1920, in Washington, NJ, the daughter of Robert G. and Nellie E. (Tresize) Cook.
She graduated from Centenary College and the New Haven School of Physical Therapy. Prior to marrying Capt. Rivard and moving to New London, she ran the physical therapy department at Bryn Mawr (PA) Hospital.
A resident of New London and Waterford since 1945, Mrs. Rivard was active as a volunteer in numerous community organizations, including the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Child & Family Services, New London Visiting Nurses Association, the Coast Guard Academy Wives’ Club, and Thames River Garden Club.
She was a lifelong music lover and played the piano and organ.
She is survived by her daughter, Alison Rivard, of Westport, CT, her son, Peter Rivard, of Boston, MA, and three grandchildren. She was recently predeceased by her brother, George W. Cook, of Riverside, CA.
A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon on Thursday at the First Congregational Church of New London. Private burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Wilfrid J. Bellefleur, Capt. CT. State Police, RET, 83, of 190 Vergason Ave. in Norwich died Monday Aug. 29, 2005 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born on Oct. 11, 1921 in New London the son of Albert and Lillian Bellefleur and had attended schools in New London including the former Bulkeley School.In 1942, Bellefleur enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII with America’s famed 1st Ranger Battalion in North Africa, Sicily and Italy, Following his honorable discharge from the military, he joined the Ct. State Police in 1945. Bellefleur’s first tour of duty was with the traffic division. He was then assigned to Troop E in Groton.In 1955, he was assigned as the first resident state trooper in the Town of Montville. I Aug. of 1958, he was promoted to SGT and reassigned to State Police Headquarters in Hartford. Following his tour at headquarters, he was assigned as executive officer at Troop H in Hartford.Following the prison riot at the Wethersfield State Prison in 1960, in which he played an active role, he was assigned to the training staff at the State Police Academy in Bethany.From the academy, he served a short tour as executive officer at Troop F. in Westbrook.In 1961, he was promoted to LT and assigned as Troop Commander of Troop C, Stafford Springs. In 1962, he was reassigned to Troop K, Colchester, Commander of the Emergency Service Div., SWAT and Bomb Squads.Under the direction of the late Commissioner Leo J. Mulcahy, Bellefleur organized and conducted the Bomb Handling Training School at the State Police Training Facility in Simsbury, where Federal, State and Local law enforcement officers were trained in the recognition and handling of explosive devices.In 1970, he was reassigned as Commandant of the State Police Eastern Division. Bellefleur was a graduate of the Harvard Associates of Police Sciences, the Northeastern Univ. seminar on Human Relations, Northeastern Univ. Traffic Institute, NESPAC College, Rhode Island, Univ. of Maryland School of Police Administration, Military Police School at Ft. Gordon, GA. and the Bomb Disposal School, New York City Police Academy.Capt. Bellefleur received numerous citations for outstanding police service including a citation for bravery and several meritorious awards during his nearly twenty-nine years of service. Bellefleur retired from the State Police in 1974.His affiliations include Harvard Associates in Police Science, Ct. State Police Academy Alumni Assoc., Police Association of CT., life member of the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Dept., Ct. State Employees Assoc., and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Montville.On Nov. 28, 1944, Bellefleur married
his first wife Antoinette who died in 1987.In July of 1989, he married
Bianca Pellegrino of Buenos Aires, Argentina.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters Winifred and Donna both of Long Island, four grandchildren and a brother Hubert of Groton.Besides his first wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Albert and Arthur.Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am Sat., Sept. 3 at the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Dr. in Groton. Louis W. Strother, 76, of 19 Bolles Ave. in New London died Fri., Sept. 2, 2005 at his home.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1929 in Des Moines, IO. the son of Clarence and Eva Bell Strother.
Louis was married
on Apr. 19, 1956 in New London to the late Frances Marie Strother. Mrs. Strother died on Mar. 6, 12004.
He had served in the U. S. Navy from 1947 until 1967. He then began work for the Civil Service as a police officer at the U. S. Submarine Base in Groton, retiring as the Chief of Police after 18 years of service.
Mr. Strother was a member of the Longshoreman’s Union 1411 as well as the RAFA.
His survivors include three daughters Brenda Holland of Groton, Tina Nicholson of New London, Kathy Mattingly of Uncasville, two sons Jeffrey Strother and Lewis Strother, Jr. both of New London, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

East Lyme - Robert "Bob" McCloud Munn Sr., of East Lyme, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1921 in Elizabeth, N.J., Bob grew up in Roselle Park, N.J., and graduated from NFA, in Norwich.
He leaves his devoted and adored wife of 61 years, Dorothy "Dot" (Bushnell) Munn.
A patriotic man, Bob Sr. served his country during World War II in the Navy Air Corp. After the was he was extremely proud that during his years at Electric Boat, as a draftsman, he participated in designing our nation's first nuclear submarine, The Nautilus. Until his long retirement, he was employed by Union Carbide Corporation, traveling throughout the U.S. as an inspector expediter.
Bob Sr. truly enjoyed wood working, gardening, fishing, and boating. Though he dearly loved the great state of Connecticut, one of his greatest pleasures was visiting the mountains and seacoast of Maine.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Bob Jr., and by his daughter-in-law, Tara Munn. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carolynn Munn Pianta and by his son-in-law, Bob Pianta. "Pop", a generous and loving grandfather, will be deeply missed by his two granddaughters, Becky and Rachel Pianta. He also leaves his loyal and beloved dog, Katie.
Bob, a genuinely "nice guy" was a warm and loving husband, father and grandfather. A friendly man, with a wacky sense of humor, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He had been predeceased by two brothers, William and Walter Munn.
The family would like to express their heart felt thanks to the wonderful personnel of L & M's ICU.
