Viola May Rolfe Pongetti, 73, of 15 Sunshine Rd. in Quaker Hill died Wednesday, March 3 at the Fairview in Groton.
She was born on July 4, 1930 in New London, the daughter of Ralph A. and Gladys Allison Rolfe.
Mrs. Pongetti was married
to Rudolph G. Pongetti, Sr. on Apr. 28, 1951 in New London.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters Susan K. Greenleaf of Waterford, Carol L. Pongetti of Uncasville, two sisters Marie Chism and Ann Mattson both of New London, and a brother James A. Rolfe of Montville.
She was predeceased by her sons Rudolph G. Pongetti, Jr. and Michael T. Pongetti, 2 sisters Jean Lamb, Lillian Bovee and a brother Ralph A. Rolfe, Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London.
Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 pm this(FRI) evening at the funeral home.

Dorothy Rose Quinn

Dorothy R. Quinn, 85, of Drozdyk Dr. in Groton, died Sun. Feb. 22, 2004 at the Fairview in Groton.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1918 in New London and had been married
to the late Thomas G. Quinn who died in 1992.
Mrs. Quinn had a life-long love of the water having resided for most of her life in the Pleasure Beach area of Waterford.
She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Goshen Fire Company in Waterford.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Linda and Bill Sylvester of North Stonington, two sisters Jane Black of Maryland, Helen Smith of North Carolina, two grandchildren Jessica Sylvester and Vincent Sylvester and many nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Quinn was also predeceased by two brothers Horace and Russell Beebe.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., Feb. 25 at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
Burial will be private.

V. Florence Piscitello, 90, died February 20, 2004 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, Ct.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter, Dennis William Piscitello of New London and Nancy Ann Spalluto of Niantic. Also grieving her passing are her son-in law Lawrence, her daughter-in-law Kathy and her beloved grandchildren Michael and Cheryl and several nieces and nephews.
She had been predeceased by a sister Ruth Petit and a brother Russell Liberman.
Florence was born November 1, 1913 in New London to Max and Dora Batty Liberman. She was the widow of Thomas A. Piscitello who passed away Dec. 5, 1969. They were married
June 29, 1946 at the First Baptist church of New London. She was an active member of the church for over 80 years and had served as superintendent of the Primary Dept. of the Sunday School for many years and was a life member Amona Circle # 7 of the church.
She was graduated from Chapman Technical High School in 1932 and Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. She did her post graduate work at Boston Children’s Hospital and had attended Trinity College, Hartford and Western University in Cleveland, OH.
Gramma Floss, as she was known to many, worked as a pediatric supervisor at the Waterbury(CT) Hospital and at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital , New London. She had also worked at the First Aid Station at Ocean Beach Park in New London for eight years and was the director of Nursing Services at Briarcliff Convalescent Hospital
She had served as a girl scout leader and den mother. She was active in the Waterford Senior Citizens and the R. S. V. P.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 28 at the First Baptist Church of New London, 268 State St., 06320
Burial in the Jordan Cemetery in Waterford will be private.
Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London is in charge of arrangement.

H. Jean Stevens

Waterford — H. Jean Stevens, 69, of Greentree Drive in Waterford, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
She was born on July 30, 1934, in Middletown, Pa., the daughter of Donald and Kate Rissinger.
Helen was married
to the late Robert A. Stevens and had devoted her life to the care of her husband and family.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie Baggarly of Griswold and Sherry Pruitt of Groton, a brother and a sister, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild
She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Lamadeliane.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Open Door Baptist Church in Stonington. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery will be private. There are to be no visiting hours.

Wade A. Hyslop. Sr.

Wade Asbury Hyslop, Sr., 88, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday Feb. 16, 2004 with his loving family at his bedside.
He was born on April 21, 1915 in Nassawadox, VA., the son of the late William and Sarah Ella(Wilkins) Hyslop.
Wade was a graduate of the public schools of Tidewater, VA.
A lifelong resident of New London, over the years he had been employed as a longshoreman on the city docks as well as the W. T. Grant Co., and Beth El Synagogue and was a foster grandparent for the T.V.C.C.A. program at Seaside Regional Center.
He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and also the Jephta Lodge # 11 P.H.A.
Wade is survived by his loving devoted wife Irene E. (Thomas) Hyslop whom he married
on Aug. 30, 1940, his children Phyllis L. Wiggins(William), Mary Hyslop, Rev. Wade A. Hyslop, Jr. (Jessie), Colleen Hyslop, Rose Charles (Lee), Debbie Evans (Eric), Janet Hyslop all of New London.
He was predeceased by twelve brothers & sisters and one son Robert Eugene Hyslop.
In addition to his wife & children, he leaves to cherish his memory twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, two sister-in-laws Pauline Banks and Alice Watson, three special children Shirley Terry, Pastor Madrue Tompkins, Lillie Mae Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Mon. Feb. 23, at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Blackhall St., NewLondon.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm Sunday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St.

GLENN A. BROWN age 48 of 196 West Trail, Stamford, CT died Sunday evening at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Smithtown, Long Island.
He was born in New London on October 15, 1955 the son of Howard E. and Beverly Hoover Brown of Mystic.
He was a 1973 graduate of Robert E. Fitch Sr. High in Groton and had graduated from Thames Valley Technical School and Central Connecticut State College.
During the late 70’s he had a popular Oldies Radio Show on Sunday evenings at WSUB radio in Groton.
Mr. Brown had been a Vice President at Cablevision in New York. He also had taught a post graduate course in communications at Fairfield University.
Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Keith S. Brown of Guilford, CT and a sister Karen L. Brown of Groton. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary H. Brown.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Paul J. Rabitaille, 79, of 425 Drozdyk Dr. in Groton died Feb. 17, 2004 at the Fairview in Groton.
He was born on May 21, 1924 in Groton the son of Joseph and Williamina Greig Rabitaille.
A graduate of New London Business College, Paul had worked for over 38 years as a time-keeper at the Electric Boat Company in Groton.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Groton, the Knights of Columbus and the Groton Lodge of Elks.
Paul is survived by a sister Shirley Viveiros of New Orleans, LA., two brothers William of Amelia Island, FL., Alexander of Ft. Pierce, FL., and 11 nieces & nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Sat. Feb. 21, at the Sacred Heart Church in Groton.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in New London.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St.
