Joseph Paradyse,

a Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 71.

He died of a heart attack, according to his family.

Born March 9, 1929, in Adams, Mass., he was a son of the late John and Rose Paradyse.

He was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1947.

Before his retirement, he was employed for 45 years as the produce manager for the First National Stores in Stamford.

A communicant of the Saint Maurice Church of Stamford, he was a former member of the Knight's of Columbus and Stamford Auxiliary Police officer.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Roy Paradyse of Stamford; a daughter, Joanne Stanton of Danbury; two sons, Joseph J. Paradyse of DeBary, Fla., and Richard Paradyse of Fort Orange, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia Simonelli of Bethel; a brother, Chester Paradyse of Stamford; and seven grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at the Wojciechowski-Ambassador Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, for St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Darien.

Juan Jose "John Juan" Pinillos,

a resident of Darien and Houston, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 43.

He died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Darien, according to his family.

Born May 23, 1957, in Medellin, Colombia, he was a son of Maria M. Munoz of Port Chester, N.Y., and the late Jose Antonio Pinillos.

He was the bass player for "The Danger Men" and toured the United States, playing the blues.

In addition to his mother, Maria M. Munoz, Mr. Pinillos is survived by his soulmate, Linda Bennett of Darien and Texas ; two sons, John Antones Pinillos and Roland Benjamin Pinillos, both of Houston; O.R. Bennett of Darien and Texas , who Mr. Pinillos accepted as his son; and a brother, Rolando Antonio Pinillos of Port Chester, N.Y.

Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, and proceed to Greenwood Union Cemetery, North Avenue, Rye, N.Y., for a graveside service and burial.

Murray W. Glick,

a resident of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 in San Juan Capistrano. He was 65.

He died of surgical complications, according to his family.

Born Feb. 16, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Jacob and Ida Glick.

Before moving to San Juan Capistrano in 1992, he lived in Stamford for 30 years.

Mr. Glick attended City College of New York. He worked at Norden Systems for 33 years, moving to Stamford when the company relocated to Connecticut from White Plains, N.Y. After retiring, Mr. Glick traveled and spent time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiance, Georgia Walper of San Juan Capistrano; a son, Robert Glick of Plantsville; a daughter, Bonnie Glick of Norwalk; and six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Barry Glick; and two sisters, Yvette Glick Lettieri and Rita Glick. Shiva is being observed in the homes of his children.

Funeral arrangements were handled in California.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 100, Wallingford, CT 06492-0100; or the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10021.

Juliana P. Manka

Juliana P. Manka, a New Preston resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at Candlewood Health Care Center and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. She was 84.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born May 18, 1916, in Everson, Pa., she was a daughter of the late George and Judith Palic.

She lived in Stamford from 1950 to 1979.

Mrs. Manka was a employee of Pitney Bowes in Stamford for 30 years. She retired in 1980.

In Stamford, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Oval Club of Pitney Bowes and of the Ladies Aid Society of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith M. Cotton of Brookfield, N.H.; two sons, Emil G. Manka of Danbury and Michael E. Manka of Fairfield; a sister, Zuzana Pasiak of New Symirna Beach, Fla.; and nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchilren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emil Manka; a sister, Mary Palic; and a brother, John Palic.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000 at Nicholas Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 265 Seaside Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, 230 Oaklawn Ave., Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492; or Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 265 Seaside Ave., Stamford, CT 06902.

Roger L. Schultz,

a Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 66.

He died of complications after surgery, according to his priest.

Born Jan. 31, 1934, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of the late Ruth Schultz McKay.

Mr. Schultz was an attendant at the New Canaan YMCA.

He graduated from Concordia Preparatory School and Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and received a master's degree in business administration from Cornell University.

Mr. Schultz worked in personnel and other business ventures in Greenwich, Westport, New York City, Larchmont, N.Y., and Bermuda.

He belonged to the Larchmont Yacht Club and sang for many years with the Greenwich Choral Society.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 20 Brookdale Road, Stamford. The Rev. Robert E. Gahler will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Theresa Varricchio,

a Stamford resident for more than 80 years, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000 at Tandet Center for Continuing Care. She was 106.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born July 9, 1894, in Benevento, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Ignazio and Carmella Peppicello Parrella.

Mrs. Varricchio was a seamstress who worked for United Cloak Co., also know as Grubers, for many years.

She is survived by a son, Elmo J. Varricchio of Stamford; and a daughter, Yolanda Varricchio of Stamford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Giustino Varricchio; and a brother, Alberico Parrella.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 25, 2000 at the Lacerenza Funeral Home Inc., 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tandet Center for Continuing Care, 146 West Broad St., Stamford, CT 06902.
