Richard F. LaRusso,
a Norwalk resident for the past 10 years, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. He was 47.
He died of lung cancer, according to his family.
Born Dec. 23, 1952, he was a son of Josephine J. LaRusso and the late William V. LaRusso.
Before moving to Norwalk, he lived in Stamford for most of his life.
Mr. LaRusso was a graduate of Rippowam High School.
He was the owner and operator of Harbour House Furniture Co. in Stamford and the owner of New England Portable Bars in Norwalk.
In addition to his mother, Josephine J. LaRusso, he is survived by one brother, Bill F. LaRusso of Norwalk; and two sisters, Patricia Flowers of Green Valley, Ariz., and Karen Neylan of Stamford.
He was predeceased by a sister, Janet Hinckley.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 23, 2000 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.
Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien.

William Jacobson,
a resident of Lakewood, N.J., died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Regal Manor Health Care Center in Dover, N.J. He was 67.
He died of heart complications, according to his family.
Born Dec. 8, 1932, in Hackensack, N.J., he was the son of the late Philip and Anna Uhr Jacobson.
He married Adele Schacht, formerly of Stamford.
He worked for 38 years as a telephone installer for Western Electric, ATT, before retiring in 1992.
He was a member and union representative of the Communication Workers of America, Local 1090.
He served in the U.S. army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans.
Mr. Jacobson belonged to Congregation Beth Shalom of Passaic and was president of Congregation Brotherhood.
He was a delegate to the Passaic Hebrew Burial Association of Passaic, N.J., and a unit commissioner to the Boy Scouts of America at both Passaic Valley Council and Ocean County Council.
He was a volunteer at Passaic General Hospital, Passaic, N.J., and Paul Kimbal Hospital, Lakewood, N.J.
In addition to his wife, Adele Schacht, Mr. Jacobson is survived by a son, Mark Jacobson of Montague, N.J.; a daughter, Patti Jacobson of Wallington, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters Elan Karpelman and Loretta Strickland.
Services were Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 841 Allwood Rd., Clifton, N.J. 07012.
Burial followed at King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton, N.J.
Catherine C. Maida,
a lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 71.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Oct. 2, 1928, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Pietro and Teresa Sessa Cosentini.
Mrs. Maida was a legal secretary for Brinkerhoff, Barrett and Browning in Stamford. After raising her children, she worked as the secretary for St. Maurice's School in Stamford. Most recently, Mrs. Maida worked as the secretary for North Stamford Congregational Church and taught at St. Gabriel Church in Stamford.
She is survived by two daughters, Celeste Baranowski and Leanore Battinelli, both of Stamford; two sons, Peter J. Maida of Atlanta and A.J. Maida of Stamford; a sister, Stella Dorish of Stamford; a brother, Peter Cosentini of Stamford; and seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Armand F. Maida; and a sister, Rose Marie Carlucci.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 24, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.
A procession will leave the funeral home 9:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, for St. Gabriel Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Donald C. Holden,
a resident of Shelton, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was 61.
He died of a heart attack, according to his family.
Born July 10, 1939, in Queens, N.Y., he was a son of the late James F. and Gertrude Doyle Holden.
Having previously lived in Trumbull for more than 25 years, he had been a resident of Shelton for the past five years.
Mr. Holden began his career in the title insurance industry in 1959 and was vice president of Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co. in Stamford. Former president of the New England Land Title Association, he was a member of the Mill River Country Club in Stratford, the Knights of Columbus and the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Holden of Prospect; two sons, Donald C. Holden Jr. of Prospect, and John W. Holden of Shelton; a daughter, Stacy E. Holden of Rabat, Morocco; and an aunt.
He was predeceased by a brother, James F. "Gene" Holden.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., today, Aug. 24, 2000 at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, for St. Joseph Catholic Church, Coram Avenue, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m.

Doreen Varian Tarantino,
a Shelton resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. She was 54.
She died of lung cancer, according to her family.
Born Aug. 21, 1946, in Stamford, she was a daughter of Veronica A. O'Brien and the late James J. Varian Sr.
Before moving to Shelton five years ago, Mrs. Tarantino had lived in Stamford all her life.
At the time of her death, she was employed in the technology center of Pitney Bowes in Shelton.
Mrs. Tarantino had a passion for music, arranging flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Tarantino of Shelton; a daughter, Lisa Ann Varian of Stratford; a sister, Patricia McAuliffe of Monroe; a brother, James J. Varian Jr. of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews and two great-nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church in Stamford at a later date.
Burial is private.
Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby, is handling arrangements.

June Laughlin Thomas,
a 35-year Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. She was 75.
She died of heart failure, according to her family.
Born July 5, 1925, in Valhalla, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Blanche Stephens Tomlinson.
Mrs. Thomas worked as a switchboard operator at Clairol Inc. in Stamford. Before that, she worked for several years as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Co.
She is survived by three sons, Arthur P. Laughlin of Stamford, Albert I. Laughlin III of Shrub Oak, N.Y., and Timothy Laughlin of New Milford; a daughter, Margaret Greco of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Arthur Tomlinson of Fultonville, N.Y.; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Herbert "Tiny" Thomas; her first husband, Albert I. Laughlin Jr.; and a daughter, June Roberto.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 24, 2000 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.
A service will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Kensico Cemetery
in Valhalla, N.Y.
