Michael J. Vitti
Michael J. Vitti, a New Canaan resident and retired sheet metal worker, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at Mediplex of Darien. He was 78.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born May 28, 1922, in New Canaan, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Pauline Palma Vitti.
Throughout his youth, Mr. Vitti was active in local sports, particularly baseball and basketball.
After graduating from New Canaan High School, he entered the armed forces in 1940 and served with the Fifth Army throughout World War II. He saw action in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He took part in the battle of Cassino and the liberation of Rome.
Mr. Vitti was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New Canaan, Father Stapleton Knights of Columbus and the New Canaan Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by a brother, Anthony M. Vitti of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Agnes Cherniavsky of Milford and Ann Corr of Wilton; two sons, Jon Vitti of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and James Vitti of Fairfield; two daughters, Ellen Shannon of Westport and Catherine Vitti of Upper Darby, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2000 at Franklin Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Patient Recreation Fund, Mediplex of Darien, 599 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT; or to a charity of one's choice.
Carol Anderson Lombard,
a Seymour resident, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was 57.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born May 15, 1943, in Stamford, she was the daughter of Harry C. Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Ethel Regan Anderson.
Before moving to Seymour in 1972, Mrs. Lombard was a Stamford resident.
She attended the Catherine Gibbs School in Norwalk as well as Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport before becoming a sales coordinator for Paris Accessories in New York City.
A member of St. Augustine's Church in Seymour, Mrs. Lombard was active in religious education as well as altar decoration.
Besides her father, she is survived by her husband, Stephen Lombard of Seymour; two sons, Stephen C. Lombard of Worcester, Mass., and Douglas R. Lombard of Seymour; three sisters, Sister Elizabeth Anderson of Harwinton, and Dr. Linda Foley and Judy C. Anderson, both of Jacksonville; a niece and a nephew.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2000 at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, for St. Augustine's Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Ann Michalsky,
a resident of Alton, N.H., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at her home in Alton. She was 62.
She died of cardiac complications, according to her family.
Born Feb. 17, 1938, in the Bronx, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Arthur Farrington.
Before living in Alton, N.H., for 8 years, she resided in Stamford, Danbury and Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
Mrs. Michalsky was employeed in the food service department of Marriott Corp. for 10 years before retiring. She previously worked for many years at Macy's in Stamford.
She attended St. Mary's Church in Stamford.
Mrs. Michalsky is survived by a husband, Paul Michalsky of Alton, N.H.; two sons, Ronald Deschesne of Beacon, N.Y., and Mark Deschesne of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
She is predeceased by a son, Michael Michalsky.
Calling hours are 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.
Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery
in Stamford.

Carole Stackhouse,
a New Canaan resident, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 53.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Dec. 8, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is a daughter of Ann Vandervort Hesse and the late William Hesse .
Mrs. Stackhouse was a graduate of Western College for Women in Hamilton, Ohio, and was involved with the New Canaan Athletic Association. For many years, she tutored kindergarden students at West School in New Canaan and was a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Stackhouse of New Canaan; her mother, Ann V. Hesse of Yarmouthport, Mass.; two sons, Charles W. Stackhouse of New York City and Jeffrey H. Stackhouse of New Canaan; one daughter, Amy V. Stackhouse of New Canaan; and two brothers, William R. Hesse, Jr. of Palo Alto, Calif. and Mark V. Hesse of Hyannis Port, Mass.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford. The Rev. Mary Thies will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Frances A. Marin,
a longtime Norwalk resident, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. She was 80.
She died after a long illness that followed a stroke, according to her family.
Born Jan. 19, 1920, in Moodus, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Wallas Platek.
Mrs. Marin graduated from St. Raphael School of Nursing in New Haven. She was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, serving as a charge nurse at the station hospital in Fort Dix, N.J., and the 160th General Hospital in England. After the war, she worked as a visiting nurse for the New London Health Department and the Norwalk Health Department. She also performed private duty nursing at Norwalk Hospital and retired after serving as a charge nurse for many years at Homestead Convalescent Home in Stamford.
She is survived by her husband, M. James Marin of Norwalk; two sons, Gerald J. Marin of Norwalk and Thomas P. Marin of Monroe; a daughter, Kathy Ann Lyon of Easton; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at St. Joseph Church, 85 South Main St., South Norwalk.
Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Helen F. Lollar Lynch,
a resident of Newport News, Va., died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News. She was 54.
She died of multiple sclerosis, according to her family.
Born Oct. 18, 1945, in Rotherwood Heights, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Grace Lollar.
Before moving to Virginia, she lived in Stamford for about 10 years and attended Bethel A.M.E. Church.
She graduated from Clinton Junior College in Rock Hill, S.C., and later attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
She attended New Beach Grove Baptist Church in Newport News and belonged to the Lucy Crawford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Prince Hall, in Kingsport, Tenn.
She is survived by her husband, Napoleon Lynch of Newport News; a daughter, Nicole Francine Lynch of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Charles A. Lollar of Dudley, N.C., and George W. Lollar of Marietta, Ga.; and seven sisters, Elizabeth Weaver and Zelma H. Russell, both of Oceanside, Calif., Shirley Patterson of Norwalk, Evelyn Lollar of Stamford, Margaret Crutchfield of Dayton, Ohio, Patricia Wood of Clinton, Md., and Vanessa Overton of Marietta, Ga..
Mrs. Lynch was predeceased by a sister, Freda Carnes.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at New Beach Grove Baptist Church.
Carter Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel in Newport News handled arrangements.
