Ann J. Boesen,
a lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at Tandet Center for Continuing Care in Stamford. She was 86.
She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.
Born July 12, 1914, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bajus Obzud.
Mrs. Boesen was a member of St. Mary Rosary Society and the Stamford Girls Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Boesen of Stamford; a daughter, Maureen E. Fowley of Manassas, Va.; two sons, John M. Boesen of Cambridge, Mass., and James A. Boesen of Vernon; and a brother, Michael J. Obzud of Stamford.
She was predeceased by a sister, Helen L. Obzud; and a brother, Anthony J. Obzud.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, and proceed to St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery
in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford, CT 06492; or the American Heart Association.
Iowa "Tiny" Russell,
a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 80.
She died of respiratory failure after a long illness, according to her family.
Born June 15, 1920, in Escambia County, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Dewitt and Ethel Davison.
Mrs. Russell worked as a supervisor in the dietary department of Stamford Hospital for 19 years before retiring in 1985. Prior to that, she was a homemaker and licensed hairdresser.
She was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship in Darien.
She is survived by four daughters, Geraldine Gray of Stratford, Christine Smith and Debbie Bryant, both of Stamford, and Wanda Harriston of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Willie Gray Jr. of Bridgeport and James Gray and Felton Gray, both of Texas ; three sisters, Montana Davison of Stamford, Missouri Davison of Mansfield, Ohio, and Yvonne Mallard of Brewton, Ala.; four brothers, Cleo Davison of Oakland, Calif.; Talmadge Davison of Springfield, Ohio, Alton Davison of Mansfield, Ohio, and Dr. Dewitt Davison of Toledo, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Russell.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at New Life Christian Fellowship in Darien.
A funeral service will follow at noon at the church. The Rev. Robert Cassara will officiate.
Burial will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery
in Westport.

Lucy A. Austen,
a 53-year Greenwich residident, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000 at the William and Sally Tandet Center in Stamford. She was 85.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Jan. 26, 1915, in Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Lucy Gesner Graham.
Mrs. Austen volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stamford and Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Jane Barnes of Bethel and Barbara Bonvenuto, and Lucy Allen, both of Stamford; a sister, Evelyn Foley of Nova Scotia; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel H. Austen, and three sisters, Helen Cummings, Gladys MacGowan and Marion Anthony.
Calling hours will be 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Christ Church in Greenwich. The Rev. Pamela Strobel will officiate.
Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery
in Greenwich.

J. Morse Smith,
a New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 at home. He was 71.
He died of a heart attack, according to his family.
Born July 6, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Henry V.B. and Nancy Calder Smith.
Mr. Smith was a descendant of several old Knickerbocker families, which trace their origins in New York to the 1620s.
He graduated from Deerfield Academy and attended Syracuse University.
He served in the Korean War and was wounded at Heartbreak Ridge. He received a Purple Heart.
He was chairman and chief executive officer of family-owned H.J. Baker.
He was an avid boater and a member of the Country Club of New Canaan.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Williams Smith of New Canaan; three sons, Matthew Smith of Laguna Beach, Calif., David Smith of Southport and Christopher Smith of Fairfield; three stepsons, Jack Williams of Weston, Michael Williams of Austin, Texas , and Jeffery Williams of Fairport, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Laura Williams of Stinson Beach, Calif.; a brother, Malcolm Smith of Carmel Highland, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Rutger Smith.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 at First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan.

Henry A. "Wuzzy" Fischer Jr.,
a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 69.
He died of complications from stomach surgery, according to his family.
Born July 11, 1931, in Port Chester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Henry Fischer Sr. and Emily Smith Fischer.
Mr. Fischer worked as a plumber for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Connecticut Local 777.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a part-time school guard in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich for the past several years.
He is survived by two sons, John Fischer and Henry G. Fischer, both of Greenwich; a daughter, Barbara Rippel of Greenwich; and nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Erika Schaffer Fischer.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at the funeral home.
Burial is private.

Carolyn P. Greene-East,
a longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 in Stamford Hospital. She was 56.
She died of complications from diabetes, according to her family.
Born April 16, 1944, in Liberty Hill, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Elliott and Mabel Doby Greene.
Mrs. East was employed at ADP in Stamford. She attended Union Baptist Church in Stamford.
She is survived by three sons, Kevin Johnson of San Francisco, and Kyle Greene and Keith Greene, both of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Violet Greene of Stamford; two brothers, George Greene of Stamford and Walter Greene of Norwalk; five sisters, Edna Mae Jones and Thomassena Greene, both of Stamford, Rosezetta Ballard of Forestville, Md., Mabel Ferrell of Bridgeport and Deborah Greene of Fredericksburg, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford.
A service will follow at noon in the church.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Stamford.
