Sophia Aptalides age 80 of Fairfield died peacefully on Wednesday October 20, 2010 with her devoted daughter Theresa Fronzi at her side. Funeral services took place on Friday October 22, 2010 in the Holy Trinty Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave Bridgeport. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
Irene Angelucci
March 10, 1935 - July 14, 2010
Irene Sapp Angelucci, age 75 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of 57 years to the late Anthony Angelucci Jr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in March 10, 1935 in Commodore, Pa., she was the beloved daughter of James and Elizabeth Kohler Sapp and Anna M. Altman. A resident of Bridgeport for more than 52 years, she was a retired employee of the City of Bridgeport where she worked for more than 31 years. She enjoyed the many children she met during her years in the school system and had also volunteered at the North End Boys and Girls Club. Irene loved to bake and cook delicious treats for everyone she met. She was always known for her cakes, brownies and homemade soups. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. In addition to being predeceased by her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Anthony C. Angelucci. She missed her "boys" everyday. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Marie Nickie and her husband, Albert; devoted granddaughter, Toni Marie Nickle; and grandsons, Albert R. Nickle Jr. and wife, Melissa, James R. Nickle and wife, Amanda; her great-grandchildren, Albert and Ariana Nickle, all of Bridgeport; two brothers, James W. Altman and Jack C. Altman and wife, Judy; three sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Kaye Craig and husband, James and Linda Peterman, all of Pennsylvania; three special cousins, who were more like sisters, Catherine "Sissy" Pennington, Marjorie Ritzer and Jeannie Figard; two special honorary grandsons, Peter Donato and Matthew Wingert; and a dear friend, Annie Samper.

Friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. Margaret's Shrine on Saturday at 9 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated followed by entombment in St. Michael's Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. Calling hours on Friday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport.
Tessie Robbokos
February 03, 1936 - July 25, 2010
Tessie Golemas Robbokos, age 74 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of 53 years to the late Gus Robbokos, died peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Andreanos and Marica Koffinas Golemas. A resident of Bridgeport for more than 39 years, she was the co-proprietor of the Ritz Lunchonette with her husband, having retired in 1995, thereafter she was a sales lady at Macy's. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle mannerisms to all especially her family. Survivors include her daughters, Jennie Robbokos and Maria Nussas, both of Bridgeport; her granddaughters, Vicki Nussas and Natalia Robbokas; her sisters, Kathy and her husband, Christos Georgiou of Bridgeport, and Tina Jordanopoulos and husband, Abe of W. Palm Beach, Fla; brothers-in-law, Pete Kaltsas of Shelton, George and Tina Robokos and Vasily Robokos, all of New York; and several nieces and nephews in Greece. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Kaltsas.

John Bednarski Sr.
November 29, 1909 - March 25, 2008
John L. Bednarski Sr. of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Margaret Stupak Bednarski, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Born November 29, 1909 in New York City, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Bednarski. John was a retired master tool and dye maker for G.E. and a member of their Quarter Century Club. An inventive and far sighted individual, he received numerous awards from the Department of Defense during World War II for his development of various parts for the B-29 Bombers including Bombay Door releases and also tooling for bazooka and machine gun arrestors on ball turrets. Survivors include his devoted son, John L. Bednarski Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Stratford; a sister, Felicia Nerkowski; a nephew, Chester Nerkowski and his wife, Irene, all of Bridgeport; a niece, Carol Weller and husband, Bruce of Pennsylvania; and a sister-in-law, Marion Kulikowski of Trumbull. He was predeceased in addition to his wife, by a cherished nephew, Atty. John F. Kulikowski II, J.D.

Maria Taylor
May 25, 1961 - November 12, 2009
Maria (Filancia) Taylor, age 48 of Easton, beloved wife of 22 years to Kevin A. Taylor, DMD, died peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of Silvestro and Angela Germani Filancia. A resident of Easton for more than 22 years, she was a 1983 graduate of Boston University with a degree in cardio-pulmonary technology. She had previously worked at University Hospital in Boston and Montefiure Hospital in the Bronx. Maria lived her life always thinking of others first. She spent countless hours volunteering at The Unquowa School with the hopes of providing great opportunities to the students. She always had a smile on her face, only saw the good in others, never had a negative word to say and loved seeing others have fun. She was a wonderful devoted mother blessed with two beautiful sons who will strive to live the values instilled in them by their mother - honesty, integrity, love of life and family. Her family and friends will cherish their memories of their time with Maria. Her infectious laugh, sparkling eyes, vivaciousness, radiant smile and fun loving attitude will be in our hearts and minds forever. Survivors in addition to her husband, Kevin, are two sons, Ryan and Christopher Taylor; her devoted parents, Silvestro and Angela Germani Filancia of Yonkers, N.Y.; nephews, Nicholas, Alexander, Joseph and Zachary Taylor.

Memorial service will take place on Monday at 7 p.m. in the church.

Derek A. Smith, 26, entered into eternal life July 27, 2009. Born in Bridgeport, November 25, 1982, Derek is the son of Marie A. Nechols and Derek L. Smith. Her “Favorite Son”. Derek demonstrated an incredible sense of confidence in himself often singing while strutting around and at the same time possessed a keen, sensitive, awareness to others needs. Thomas Soter
March 13, 1937 - March 15, 2011
Thomas W. Soter, age 74, of Bridgeport, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Peter and Pauline Dionis Soter. A lifelong resident, he was a retired engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft where he had worked for more than 40 years. He was a member of Sikorsky Quarter Century club and was also a member of the National Helicopter Society. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his beloved children, Dena Reardon and her husband, Michael and Peter Soter, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandchildren, Magen and Logan Reardon; two brothers, Peter Soter and his wife, Angie of Bridgeport and Charles Soter and his wife, JoAnn of Stratford; a niece, Jennifer Soter; and a nephew, John Soter.

Dean Hatzis
May 02, 1980 - March 14, 2009
Dean Thomas Hatzis, Esq, of Cutler Bay, Fla., formerly of Trumbull entered into peaceful rest in New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Born in Cape Canaveral, Fla., on May 2, 1980. He was the son of Gus and Pamela Furjesz Hatzis. Dean graduated from Trumbull High School, University of Massachusetts in Boston. He received his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston and his Law degree from Nova Southeastern University. He was licensed to practice law in Florida as well as New York. His studies took him to Turkey, Russia, Hungary and Egypt affording him to become an avid traveler visiting about one third of the countries in the world. Having a love of music, he had been a member of the Trumbull Golden Eagle Marching Band and the Connecticut Hurricanes. While attending law school, he started a D.J. and Karaoke Company. Having been a boy scout he earned the highest honor that of being an Eagle Scout, he brought those qualities of service to the communities of Florida giving his time and energy as an attorney and as an accomplished musician and lover of music. A boating enthusiast, he was also an avid Yankee fan. A religious person who was an altar boy in his youth, he was a dedicated member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Survivors in addition to his devoted parents, Gus and Pamela Hatzis, include many uncles, aunts and cousins.
