Terry L. Morgan
Terry L. Morgan, age 75, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014 in Sebring, FL after a lingering illness. He was born on January 19, 1939, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Eldon and Mildred (Wright) Morgan. He graduated from Bethesda High School in Ohio in 1957. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957-1963. Terry had been a resident of Avon Park, FL since 2003, a summer resident of Hebron, CT, and earlier from Vermont. Terry was employed by Pratt & Whitney and Foundries in CT and VT. His greatest enjoyment was traveling with Kathryn and their RV before settling down in Florida. He loved playing horseshoes, golf, football, working on & showing antique cars, and most of all, spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathryn Morgan, son: Michael Morgan and his wife, Deborah of Colchester, and daughter: Karen Blakely of Barre, VT. He is also survived by five special grandchildren whom he loved spending time with, and was so proud of: Ashley and Brett Morgan, Cortney, Justin and Jared Blakely, also numerous extended family, including nieces and nephews in Michigan and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Morgan. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16th beginning at 6PM with a calling hour and a Chapel Service at 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Burial will be in Randolph, ​​VT in the Spring of 2015. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 3920 Bee Ridge Rd., Sarasota, FL 34233.

Anne Marie (Smith) Persing
Anne Marie (Smith) Persing, 86, of Rocky Hill and formerly of Hebron, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 1, 2014 at Hartford Hospital.
Born September 22, 1928 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Genevieve (Hart) Smith. Most of her childhood was spent in Geneva, NY where she graduated from De Sales High School. She went on to Hobart and William Smith College, graduating in 1950, where she was also awarded Phi Beta Kappa for her work. Anne later earned her Masters from Albany State Teacher’s College. She was a true scholar who loved learning, reading and was fluent in five different languages.
She met William N. Persing in college; they married in June of 1952 and resided in several towns before settling in Hebron in 1972. The couple served St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hebron for over 20 years, William as the Rector, Anne as a very active member.
She retired in 1993 after a career as a Librarian, first with Albertus Magnus College and later with Douglas Library in Hebron.
Ann will be remembered fondly by her family as a scholar, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by a daughter, Nancy Anne Persing of Billerica, MA; four sons, William R. Persing of Rocky Hill, Stephen Persing of Pawcatuck, Robert D. Persing of Havertown, PA, Richard Persing of Rocky Hill; four grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th beginning at 11am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 30 Church St. Hebron. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s Church or Douglas Library, 22 Main St., Hebron, CT 06248. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with services.

Irving James Jensen (Jim)
Irving James Jensen (Jim), 74, went home to be with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 5, 2014. He was born at Hartford Hospital and raised in Farmington, CT with his sister Marie, by his loving parents Dr. Irving Jensen and Sarah Cole Jensen. His sister Marie Matusko resides in Avon, CT. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia Scott Murray, who he met on a blind date as a teenager, fell in love, eloped and raised three children, Mark, Susan and Karen. Jim was also predeceased by his son Mark in 2008. Jim worked 38 years as a civil engineer for the State of CT DOT in Newington, CT, where he started lifetime friendships with Frank Rich, Ernie May & Bob Hines. Jim was blessed to meet Suzie Sayner in 2008 and they frequently traveled to Hilton Head & Vero Beach, enjoying fellowship with her dearest friends; Cindy & Steve Parade and Bonnie Harper. Jim is survived by his daughter Susan & her husband Ken Browne of Hebron, CT and their children Darcy, Spencer & Dale. And by his daughter Karen & her husband Mark Mickolicyk of Grafton, WI and their children Amber, Ashlynn & Kolton. Noah White, Kelly Lamb & Joyce of Masonicare provided outstanding service to Jim & the family during hospice. Funeral Services will be held in the spring at Baptist Fellowship in Columbia, CT.

Steve Langley
Steve Langley, 57, of Manchester and formerly of Hebron, died suddenly in his home on December 5, 2014.
Steve is survived by his son, Steven R. M. Langley of Andover, CT. He is also survived by multiple other family members.
Steve will be remembered in a private memorial, attended by his immediate family. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with arrangements.

Patricia A. Grenier
Patricia A. Grenier, 59, of East Hartford and formerly Colchester, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2014, at Hartford Hospital, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Born August 2, 1955 in Norwich, she was a daughter of the late John and Stella (Anuszewicz) Skut.
For over 32 years, Patricia worked as the Office Manager for the 100 Club of Connecticut, helping families of fallen Fire and Police Officers.
Patricia enjoyed sewing, quilting, antiquing and walking her dogs on the beach with her companion Vic Strazdas. She was an avid gardener and a woman of many talents and abilities. She loved to fix and refurbish old things to become new and beautiful. Most importantly, she will be remembered by her family as a soft spoken and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her son, Justin and his wife June Potter of Westbrook; a sister, Marie and her husband Robert Tarnowski of Salem; a grandson, John Potter and many extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by two grandsons, Dylan and Matthew and a sister, Joan Oliver.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4th from 4 – 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester and again on Friday, Dec. 5th at 10 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at St. Andrew Church in Colchester. Burial will be private. Bernard F. Oppelt
Bernard F. Oppelt, 86 of Colchester, passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, 2014.
Born Feb. 27, 1928 in Hartford, he was a son of the late Walter and Edna (Covey) Oppelt.
Bernard married BettyAnn Doucette on Nov. 23, 1957. She survives him.
He was a proud veteran having served with the USArmy during the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion in Colchester and was a member of the Antique Veterans of Colchester providing memorial service military honors.
Bernard retired several years ago after a career with the CT Dept. of Labor as a mail room and supply manager. He was always a hard-working man, holding down two jobs most of his working career.
He enjoyed traveling abroad and gardening at home. He loved air shows and was an avid tournament bowler for over 25 years. Bernard also volunteered at the Bowling office in East Hartford for many years.
In addition to his beloved wife BettyAnn, survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Bansen of Winter Haven, FL; a brother, Walter Oppelt, Jr. of Rockville; a niece and her family, Tammy and Henry Jolly and their children, Katie, Matthew and Brian of New Mexico; a nephew, Glenn Bansen of Winter Haven, FL; his beloved pets, Oreo the dog and Grace the cat and numerous extended family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd from 4 – 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester and on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd beginning at 10:30 am, followed by the funeral service at 11AM at the funeral home, Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill with full military honors. Tracy S. Coleda
Tracy S. Coleda, 68, of Oakdale, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 21, 2014.
Born December 28, 1945 in Norwich, he was a son of the late Michael and Dolores (McNeil) Coleda.
Tracy was a proud veteran having served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. He married Pamela Ann Holmes on May 29, 1976 and from that day forward, he made pleasing his beloved Pamie and spending time with her his favorite pastime. For over 38 years, Tracy worked for General Dynamics at Electric Boat as a Power House Engineer. He was also an “all around” handyman. He loved carpentry, but he was a man of many skills and talents. He would help anyone in need with nearly any project or problem. He was an avid motorcyclist, an avid race fan, in particular, NASCAR and Formula One and he loved animals, especially his cats. Most importantly, he will be remembered by those who knew him as a kind man, eager to help others, no frills and down to earth personality with few words but well versed in so many areas. He will be sadly missed but always remembered.
In addition to his beloved wife of 38 years, survivors include a son, Jeremy and his wife, Tara Coleda of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, Richard Visgilio of Montville; four sisters, Michelle Coleda of Norwichtown, Cecelia Messore of Oakdale, Virginia Buonanno of Rhode Island and Amy Visciglia of New London and numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Buonanno and Frank Visgilio.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25th from 4 – 7PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A ceremony and celebration of Tracy’s life will be observed at 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Maureen (Keddie) Kolaczenko passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. Maureen graduated from UCONN with an accounting degree followed by an MBA, all while raising her five children. She started her career as an accountant, business office manager for New Britain Memorial Hospital. Maureen then went on to work for St. Mary Home in West Hartford as the controller moving up to administrator for 16 years. She also served as administrator for the Jewish home in New Haven and at the Lutheran Home in Middletown. Her last position was St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham, retiring in 2007. Every nursing home she worked at, she developed close relationships both professional and personal. There was great mutual respect with the people she worked with. Maureen was a member of the CANPFA. She served on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran Home. She also spoke many times at legislative hearings on behalf of the nursing home residents. Maureen was an avid reader and true Red Sox fan, and looked forward to her nightly televised games. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to relax and visit with friends and family. She had a passion for playing cards and boy, did she know how to play. Maureen was happiest when surrounded by her family and was a true inspiration for everyone. Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Mildred and J. Douglas Keddie, her two sisters Sheila Keddie and Patricia Campbell and daughters’ Diane and Kathy. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 43 years, Dmytri Kolaczenko. She leaves behind her grateful and blessed children and their spouses, Robert and Traci Pinault of Avon, Cheryl Leahy of Clearwater, FL, Christine (Pinault) and Tim Hogan of McKinney, TX, Susan (Kolaczenko) and Peter Johnson of Wethersfield, and Mitchell and Dawn Kolaczenko also of Wethersfield. Her 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren whom she was so proud of are: Mark, James, Stephen, Justin, Thomas, Bobby, Danielle, Samantha, Sarah, Mitchell, Casey, Brian, Jessica, Jennifer, Alexander, Nicholas, Stephen P., Dmytri, Katie. She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, sister and brother in laws that she had many wonderful and fun times with. HARVEY TAYLOR CLEW
Harvey Taylor Clew, 80 years old, of Haddam, CT died of a brain hemorrhage Wednesday night, November 19, 2014, at Hartford Hospital. Harvey Clew was the son of William J. Clew, former managing editor of The Hartford Courant, and Mona (Gallivan) Clew, former junior high teacher in the Middletown School District. He was a retired United States Foreign Service Officer who served in London, Beirut, Lebanon, Lagos, Nigeria, Belize, Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. He met his wife of 43 years, Joy (Lee) Clew, on an ocean liner going to his first diplomatic posting in Cape Town, South Africa in 1963.
Prior to his thirty years as a diplomat, Harvey was a reporter for three and a half years for The Washington Star in Washington, D.C. covering events such as the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy. Harvey served as a 2nd selectman in Haddam as a member of the Region 17 School Board. He also served on the Mid-State Regional Planning Association, was President of the Haddam Historical Society, and President of the Foreign Affairs Retirees of New England. He was an environmentalist who worked diligently to protect open spaces in Connecticut. He recently joined the successful fight to preserve land for a state wildlife refuge along the Connecticut River across from the Goodspeed Opera House.
Harvey attended St. John’s Elementary School and graduated from Middletown High School, class of 1952. In high school he was on the swim and football teams and served as Mayor of Middletown for a Day. He graduated from Wesleyan University, class of 1956. Immediately upon graduating from college he entered the United States Army where he served for three years in counter intelligence in Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of Haddam, CT; son, Timothy W. Clew of Warren, CT; daughter, Carole Clew Elms of New York, NY, their spouses and five grandchildren; his twin sister, Carole Clew Hoey of Middletown and Haddam, CT; his brother, William T. Clew of Webster and Worcestor, MA, a former managing editor of the Sunday Telegram in Worcestor, MA; his sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Clew Kampmeinert of Pittsburgh, PA, two brothers-in-law, three nieces and one nephew.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9am from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown, followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. John's Church, Middletown at 10am. Burial will be in the family plot in St. John's Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5-7pm. MARIA STELLA LISEO
Maria Stella Liseo, of Bellevue Terrace, Cromwell, beloved wife of Salvatore Liseo, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Hartford Hospital. She was born on January 9, 1939, in Melilli, Italy, daughter of Mariannina Marchese of Middletown and the late Agostino Marchese.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by her children: Rose McCormack (and Dave) of Middletown, Joanna Mercaldi (and Michael) of East Hampton and Joseph Liseo (and Teresa) of Cromwell; a brother Frank Marchese (and Ann Marie) of Middletown, seven grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew, Anna, Alyssa, Angela, Julia and Jenna, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Giuseppe Marchese (Lina and family, who still reside in Melilli). Stella was a member of St. Sebastian’s Church, President of the Franciscan Third Order and a committee member of the Funeral Reception. She retired from Cromwell Middle School in 2004. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 9am from the Couglin-Lastrina Funeral Home on 491 High Street, Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Sebastian’s Church at 10am. JOSEPHINE A. SCOTTI
Josephine A. Scotti 94 of Newfield St. Middletown daughter of the late Louis A. and Vi Ida (Baiardo) Scotti died on Friday in Middletown. Josephine retired from Emhart Co. in Berlin in 1982.
A member of St. Pius X Church. She loved all animals expecially her dogs and cats, also she enjoyed working in her vegetable / flower gardens. Josephine is survived by her loving family: a sister, Mary S. Chmura of Middletown, a special niece, Dodie Boedicker of Elmira, N.Y., a special nephew, Robert Chmura. Josephine is predeceased by 6 brothers and 4 sisters Joseph, Alexander, Amadeus, John, Aldo, Robert, Ester Botti, Yolanda DiBernadino, Elizabeth Salafia, Eleanor Clebowicz.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9 am from the Coughlin- Lastrina Funeral Home 491 High St. Middletown followed by a mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X church at 10 am. Burial will be in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 am to 9:30 am.

ELLEN BIGHINATTI MURPHY
Ellen Murphy, loving mother and devoted Nona passed away on November 20. By her side were her loving son and daughter. Ellen was born in 1931 to Benvenuto and Margaret Bighinatti in Middletown and grew up as a child on Newfield Street, where family and friends came from all over to attend gatherings and parties throughout the years. Ellen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949 and raised her family in Middletown until moving to Florida in 1993. Her passion were her family and friends and she was much loved by all. Her favorite past time was shopping and there was no one better at getting the "best deal". She helped raise her granddaughter and Tessa will miss her Nona dearly.
She is survived by her loving son, Thomas Murphy, loving daughter Sharon Murphy Marinelli and granddaughter, Tessa Marinelli. She leaves behind her brother, Ben Bighinatti and family. She also leaves behind several special cousins who grew up as "sisters" in Newfield. Ellen was predeceased by her brother, Louis Bighinatti. The Murphy family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. She was the best "Ma" and we all have a special angel watching over us in heaven.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 9am from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. Sebastian Church at 10am. SEBASTIANO BAFUMI
Sebastiano Bafumi of Melilli, Italy, husband of Rosetta Bafumi died on March 3rd in Melilli, Italy. He was born on March 4, 1946 and was the son of the late Pietro and Nella (Giurintano) Bafumi.
He is survived by two sons, Piero Bafumi and Carmelo Bafumi, a daughter and son-in-law, Andonela and Guiseppe, a grandson, Emanuelle, all of Italy, two brothers, Carmelo Bafumi of Middletown, Guiseppe Bafumi of Melilli, Italy, a sister, Marianina of Melilli, Italy, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins both in the U.S. and Italy.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 7pm in St. Sebastian Church, at the request of his brother Carmelo Bafumi.

PRISCILLA McCARTHY
Priscilla (Hannon) McCarthy, 79, beloved wife of 54 years to Timothy McCarthy of Wheeler Hill Drive, Durham, passed away on Friday. She was born on November 12, 1935 in Middletown and was the daughter of the late Philip and Frances (Sullivan) Hannon.
Priscilla grew up in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School in 1956. She and Timothy made their home and raised their family in Durham. She was a long time employee Daigle Tax Associates of Portland, a past Girl Scout leader for her daughters’ troupe, and a past EMT for the Durham Volunteer Ambulance Corp. She was also a talented pianist, had a love for her Bernese Mountain Dog, Mickey, and as a grandma, she knit the best sweaters. She was a kind, sweet soul who helped everyone. She was loved very much and will be dearly missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving family; Brian and Sue McCarthy of Durham, Kevin McCarthy of Maryland, Laurie McCarthy of Middletown, Patricia Herrington and her husband Darryl of Middlefield, Kathleen McCarthy of Middletown; grandchildren, Grai and Ash Bluez, Aaron Gowor, Sarah and Hannah Gonlis, Gage and Olivia Herrington, and Mana and Isabella Gioco. She also had a great-grandson, DJ Bluez. She also enjoyed a life-long friendship since childhood with Gert Tanski and Pat Kobylenski.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9am at the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. John Church, Middletown at 10am. Burial will be in the family plot in St. John Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9am to 9:45am. MARY DeRISO
Mary (Palmer) DeRiso, 74, formerly of Middlefield, wife of the late Leroy DeRiso, died on Tuesday, March 17 at the Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden. Mary was born on March 1, 1941 in Olmestedville, N.Y., daughter of the late Rusell and Eleanor (Hammond) Palmer.
Mary is survived by her loving family, a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and William Paradis of Old Saybrook, five brothers, Roy Palmer, John Palmer, Paul Palmer, Chester Palmer, Dan Palmer all of New York four, sisters Joyce McCall, Anna Palmer, Cathy Persons, Lynda Shanley all of New York, four grandchildren, Brendan DeRiso, Michael Paradis, Nicholas Paradis, Katelynn Dotson and her husband, Todd, four great grandchildren, Tristan DeRiso, Aiden DeRiso, Meredith Dotson, Henry Dotson also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the Coughlin- Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.

ASSUNTA R. LaROSA
Assunta R. "Sue" ( Rinaldi) LaRosa 90 of Portland, formerly of Middletown and Meriden, beloved wife of the late Frank LaRosa, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Middlesex Hospital. Assunta was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Umberto and Anna (Acquarula) Rinaldi. She was a member of St. Pius X church.
Assunta is survived by her two daughters, Theresa A. Dauphin and her husband Alan of Spofford, N.H. and Elizabeth Celella and her husband Lawrence; two grandsons, Ryan Fleming of CT and Alan F. Dauphin and his wife Kelsie of Derby, VT, and her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aliya and Alan "AJ" Dauphin also of Derby, VT. Predeceased by four brothers; James Rinaldi, Giro Rinaldi, Pat Rinaldi, her twin brother Salvatore Rinaldi and a sister Connie Fazzino.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 21 at 10 am at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Middlesex Hospice Unit c/o Development Office 55 Cescent St. Middletown, Ct. 06457. The Coughlin- Lastrina Funeral Home 491 High St. is in charge of arrangements.
