Marjorie Faith Curtiss
Marjorie Faith Curtiss, 82, of Colchester and formerly Uncasville and Niantic, passed away on May 13, 2013 after a long illness.
Born in New Britain, she was a daughter of the late Faith Nester Neubauer.
Marjorie enjoyed planting flowers, camping and picnicking with family. She loved country music and most importantly, she was a devoted and adoring mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four children, John and his wife Janie Faulkner of Norwich, William Faulkner and his companion Donna Salone of Uncasville, Darnell Walsh of Colchester, Robin and her husband James Charland of Colchester, with whom Marjorie made her home for many years; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by those who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 31st from 5 – 6:30 PM, with a memorial service and celebration of her life following at 6:30, at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester. Earle J. Kolar
Earle J. Kolar, 66, of Lebanon and formerly of Uncasville, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born on October 28, 1946 in Hartford, a son of Alice Ward of Norwich and the late John F. Kolar. Earl was a graduate of Lyman Memorial High School and also attended Harts School of Music in Hartford.
Earl was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Earl was an accomplished piano player and composer of music and poetry. He was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church where he formerly played the organ for services. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time at the Ross Adult Day Center in Norwich.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two brothers and their families, Barry and his wife Christine Kolar of Baltic and their daughters, Laura and Jane, John Kolar, with whom he made his home and John’s wife Lizie of the Philippines; and numerous extended family members.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Lebanon Baptist Church. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with arrangements.
Rita M. Dorsey
Rita M. Dorsey, 86 of Colchester, formerly of Manchester and Dalton, MA, passed away early Friday morning, May 10, 2013 at Apple Rehab Center in Colchester.
Born August 10, 1926 in Palmer, MA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Finnegan) Croughwell.
Rita lived most of her life in Manchester, CT. She retired several years ago as a supervisor for Stroehmans Bakery. She enjoyed Bowling and Golf and she was formerly a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Dalton, MA. She will be remembered by her family as a strong willed woman who often spoke her mind.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Terrance and Mariett Dorsey of Colchester; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Dorsey of Meriden; seven grandchildren, David Dorsey, Deborah Grottole, Danielle Rebant, Derrick Dorsey, Kelly Dorsey, Matthew Dorsey, Kristen Dorsey; eight great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Zachary, Jenna, Andrew, Benjamin, Joshua, Julia, Rylie and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by a son, Gary Dorsey and ten siblings.
Funeral services will be private. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with arrangements.
Antonio Peter Fasanelli
Antonio Peter Fasanelli, 89, of Hebron and formerly of South Windsor, beloved husband of Mary “Marti” (Mayo) Fasanelli, passed away Friday (May 3, 2013) at Apple Rehab in Colchester.
Born August 13,1923 in Hartford, he was the last surviving of the four children of the late Peter and Maria (Molisi) Fasanelli.
He and Marti were married on April 25, 1953 in Windsor.
Mr. Fasanelli was an officer with the Hartford Police Dept. for 41 years before his retirement.
He was a memberof the Police Union, and, having a great love of dogs, was a member of the K-9 Corps and also trained dogs on his own.
His greatest joy was found in spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Fasanelli was a member of the Abundant Life (of the Assemblies of God) Church in Colchester.
In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he leaves two children, Anthony Fasanelli and Sharon Fasanelli-Turner, both of Hebron; five grandchildren, Danielle,Marissa, Rebecca, Brandon and Aaron; two great grandchildren; and numerousextended family members and friends.
Visitation 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.
Funeral Services will be held 10 AM Wednesday directly at the Abundant Life Church, 85 Skinner Road, Colchester. Burial will follow in the New Hebron Cemetery.

Lauri Ann Lundborg
Lauri Ann Lundborg, 55, of Colchester, beloved wife of Frank DeBuono, passed away early Thursday (May 2, 2013) at home.
Born August 10, 1957 in Norwich, she was a daughter of Joseph Cook of Norwich and the late Patti (Chappell) Cook.
Lauri was employed by UPS in Bozrah. She served in many capacities including Package Center Supervisor.
Lauri held an avid love for animals, especially dogs, cats and birds. She enjoyed listening to Bob Seger, and she loved being with people and making them smile.
In addition to her husband and father, survivors include a daughter, Pam Ertel and husband Adam of Canterbury, stepchildren, Kristen Zercie and husband, Ken of Meriden and Lisa DeBuono of Hamden; two brothers, Wayne Cook and wife, Michelle of Oregon, David Cook, his wife Diane and their children, Heather and Jonathan of Baltic; a sister, Sue Langlois, her husband Gary and their children Cory, Jamie and his wife, Karen; three grandchildren, Tim, Kolbe and Arianna. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her family, her Chili’s friends, and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Karen Ann Lundborg and a brother, Kenneth Cook.

Lloyd E. MacDonald
Lloyd E. MacDonald, 79, of Lebanon, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013. He was the husband for 60 years of Gloria (Albert) MacDonald. born on September 12,1933 in Bunker Hill, Bridgewater, Maine, the son of the late Donald B.MacDonald and Bethe (Kimball) Thomas, he had lived in Lebanon, CT since 1987.
Lloyd worked at Pratt & Whitney from 1956-1987. He took tremendous pride in his work here in Connecticut and abroad in Singapore. Lloyd loved snow/water skiing, boating and taking photographs. As an avid NASCAR fan,he enjoyed going to the races. Lloyd also enjoyed watching the Red Sox with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Gloria, Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his children, son Micheal MacDonald and wife Francine, of Lebanon; daughters, Laurie Dube of Columbia, Susan Bethe MacDonald of Meriden,Holly Danyliw and husband, Pete of Taftville, Robin Michael and husband, Tal of Lebanon, Heather O’Brien and husband, Tom of Colchester; his grandchildren,Christopher Dube and Sherrine Fantasia of Lebanon, Katharine (Dube) and husband, Lionel Hamilton of Columbia, Melissa (MacDonald) and husband, Philip Taskey of Cromwell, Andrew Danyliw of Taftville, Conner, Ethan, and Olivia Michael of Lebanon, Thomas, James, Daniel, and John O’Brien of Colchester;three great grandchildren, Caleb, Bella and Colin. Lloyd is also survived by his sister, Marilyn DiPrato of Windsor Locks, as well as his brother, Bernard and wife, Lois (Clark) MacDonald of Benton, ME; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated 9 AM Tuesday (Aug.13th) at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 W. Town Street, Lebanon.There are no calling hours and burial will be private.

William David Alford, “Alf”
William David Alford, “Alf”, 63, of Colchester and formerly of Middlefield, passed away Monday (Aug. 5, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. In those63 years, he lived an adventurous life and enjoyed it to its fullest.
Born May 22, 1950 in Middletown, he was a son of the late Scott and Elizabeth (Hathaway) Alford.
Alf was a graduate of Vinal Regional Technical School and went on to work as an electrician for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.
He volunteered for, and served proudly with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW.
In his spare time, Alf was a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast and an avid traveler.
He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Melissa Alford of East Hampton, CT; two granddaughters, Lucy and Eloise, whom he adored; a sister, Margaret “Midge” Sinnamon of Manchester, CT; and a brother and his wife, Robert and Muriel Alford, of Peoria, AZ; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Barton and Janet Davis.
The family will receive guests starting at 4 pm on Friday, August 16th before a 5:30 pm Chapel Service with military honors at theAurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Burial will be private.

Alice (Sklarsky) Fedus
Alice (Sklarsky) Fedus, 93, of Colchester, widow of the late Steven F. Fedus, passed away peacefully Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2013) at home, with her loving family at her side.
Born on a family farm in Hebron on Apr. 26, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Olga (Von Prittiz) Sklarsky. Early on, she attended a one-room schoolhouse in Hebron before moving to Colchester with her mother and five siblings, as her father needed to pursue work in New Jersey during the Depression.
Alice was a gifted student with aspirations of becoming a math teacher. However, she met her future husband, Steven, while in high school and they were married shortly after her graduation from Bacon Academy in 1937.
Together, they pursued entrepreneurial endeavors of both building a family restaurant in Colchester and operating a chain of laundromats. The Chestnut Lodge would grow into the town’s most popular venue during their nearly 50 year career as owner/operators. Following her “retirement”, she would continue to share her talents in bookkeeping, hosting and managing along with her son at the Yantic River Inn Restaurant until the age of 82; with bookkeeping duties until age 90.
Aside from her skills and experience in business, she became involved in politics in the 1970’s, serving as the State Central Committeewoman from the2nd Congressional District along with Vincent LaDonne of Norwich. Over the years, she worked on the campaigns of Bob Steele, Gov. Thomas Meskill and Senator (later Gov.) Lowell Weicker.
Alice was a gracious lady and the sunshine of the day when she entered a room; resilient, hard-working and full of love for family and friends.
She was the caring and loving mother of Stephen (wife, Lee) and Diana Fedus; grandmother of three, Eric Fedus (and wife, Teresa), Daniel Fedus, and Christy Fedus (and husband, Sergio Leon-Chantres); great grandmother of four,Sarah, Faith, Liberty and Stephen; sister to Jenny Sawyer; and sister-in-law to Carol Sklarsky. She was predeceased by her brother, Nick; sisters, Anne, Katherine and Emily; and her granddaughter,Sandra Ellen.
The family would like to thank her longtime faithful friend, Sharon, as well as all of her devoted caregivers.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects for 2 – 4 PM Saturday (Aug. 10th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Chapel Service willbe observed at 3:30 PM. Burial will be private in the family plot at Linwood Cemetery, Colchester.

Paige Kendra Houston

Paige Kendra Houston, 17, of Amston, beloved daughter of Kenneth and Michele (Stephens)Houston, born Jan. 17, 1996, passed away tragically Tuesday (Aug. 6, 2013) from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
She was born on January 17, 1996 in Hartford and was entering her senior year as an Honor student at RHAM High School in Hebron, earning High Honors at the end of her Junior year. Throughout her academic career, she was active in cheerleading with the RHAM Youth Football and Cheerleading League. While in the RHAM youth cheerleading, her team placed 6th nationally at competition in Florida. During high school, she continued to excel as both an assistant coach for the past three years with RHAM Youth program and had been chosen to be one of the Cheerleading Captains for the upcoming year at RHAM High School.
Paige’s dream after graduation was to go on to study early childhood development at ECSU.
She loved to be around people, whether working at the family business, Hebron Pharmacy (now CVS) or spending time with her family and many friends.
In addition to her loving parents, she leaves two brothers, Cody and Shane, both at home; her grandparents, Hayden and Florence Houston, Jr. of Hebron and Ronald and Peg Stephens of Toms River, NJ; her great grandmother, Dorothy Stephens of Toms River; uncle, Keith Houston; uncle, Harold Evans;uncle, Kevin Stephens; uncle and aunt, Dennis and Lisa Stephens; aunt and uncle, Linda and Keith Humphris; uncle, Marc Cappell; cousins, Scott,Christine, Phillip, Stephanie “Big Sis”, Joseph and Kathleen; and many other cousins and extended family members, her beloved dog, Bella; as well as her countless friends, to whom she was affectionately known as “Paigeysmallz”, due to her small stature and big heart.
The family will receive guests 4 to 7 PM Friday (Aug. 9th) at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St., Hebron.

Mathilda “Tillie” Infante
Mathilda “Tillie” Infante, 68, of Colchester, passed away Saturday (Aug. 3, 2013) at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 4,1945 in Hartford, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn(Russell) Giordano.
Tillie was a graduate of Bacon Academy in Colchester and went on to work for Pratt &Whitney for nearly 35 years before her retirement.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening but her greatest joy was found in her family, to whom she was ever devoted.
She leaves her husband, Nicholas Infante; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dale Martin of Colchester; three grandchildren, Brooke and Paige Carlson and Nichole Martin; three sisters, Mary Blinn of Broad Brook, Evelyn Bayles of Columbia, MD and Diane Riemann of New London; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Lee Carlson; and a brother,Thomas Giordano.
