She was the beloved wife of Salvatore Bazzano.

MILLERTON — Wayne L. Bergh Sr. 68, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 2006, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was the husband of Judith L. (Mayes) Bergh, whom he married in 1958.

WINSTED — Shirley A. (Francis) Burke, 71, of Glendale Avenue, died Nov. 27, 2006, while visiting family in Waterbury, Vt.
She was the loving wife of Thomas W. Burke for 45 years.

CANAAN — Garner I. Curtiss, 78, passed away on Nov. 20, 2006, at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland, Mich., after a short illness.

SALISBURY — Lottie (Schaler) Gerstel died at Noble Horizons on Nov. 24, 2006, at the age of 83.
She was the wife of Eric Gerstel, whom she married 56 years ago.

EAST CANAAN — Evelyn R. Lee, 90, of Largo, Fla., and East Canaan, died Nov. 21, 2006, at Sharon Hospital after a short illness.
She was the widow of Wilbur G. Lee.

MILLERTON —Hector "Sandy" McClune, 76, suffered a fatal heart attack while answering a fire call with the Millerton Fire Dept. on Nov. 26, 2006.

SALISBURY — Libby Watterson, 76, of Cobble Road died Nov. 18, 2006, at Sharon Hospital.
Clifton Bartlett
Clifton Bartlett, 54, of Harness Drive, Southington, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain. He was the husband of Carol-Ann (Gagnon) Bartlett.
He was born, April 14, 1954, the son of Richard Bartlett of Virginia, and Marion (Smith) Bartlett of Marlboro, Mass. He had been a Senior Airman in the Connecticut National Guard and was employed by Telsource Corporation as a telecommunications technician.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Andrew Bartlett of Southington; his grandmother, Emma Smith, along with his sister Joy Bridges, both of Marlboro, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Bartlett.
Services were held May 12 from DellaVecchia Funeral home, Southington, to St. Dominic Church, Southington. Burial, with military honors, was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.

Shirley K. Rogers
Shirley K. Rogers, 83, of Southington, died Dec. 26, 2007, in Longboat Key, Fla. She was the wife of Frank "Bud" Rogers.
Throughout her 60 years as a Southington resident, she was actively involved with Rogers' Orchards, and proud to see the eighth generation join the family business. Mrs. Rogers served on the Southington Board of Education in the 1950's and early 60's and also worked as a substitute teacher for many years in local schools.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia Lumry and her husband, Rufus, of Bellevue, Wash.; a son, John Rogers and his wife, Nancy, of Southington; her brother, John Krick; seven grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Southington. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary E. Stamatis
Mary Ellen (Olsen) Stamatis, 67, of New Britain, formerly of Berlin Street, Southington, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Walnut Hill Care Center. She was the wife of Angelo Stamatis.
Born in Deep River, she was a longtime Southington resident, moving to New Britain 10 years ago. Mrs. Stamatos was employed at Lake Eyelet in Plantsville until her retirement and was a member of St. Thomas Church in Southington.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Freda Beauchene, of Plainville, Evelyn Beauchene, of New Britain, and Alva Lineing, of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 3 at St. Thomas Church, Southington. Burial followed in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain, was in charge of the arrangements.

William J. Scanlon
William J. Scanlon, 73, of Southington, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. He was the husband of Joan (Murphy) Scanlon.
He was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Waterbury, a son of the late Walter H. and Mary (Walsh) Scanlon. Mr. Scanlon was a teacher and guidance counselor for Wolcott Schools and San Diego schools until retiring in 1995. Mr. Scanlon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War as a 1st Lt. stationed in El Paso, TX. Mr. Scanlon was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church. He was an avid sports fan and coached numerous youth teams in the area.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, James W. Scanlon and his wife, Karen, of Waltham, Mass., and Kevin Scanlon and his wife, Jane, of Chaplin; his cherished grandchildren, Autumn, Amber, Chelsey, Hanna and Haley Scanlon; his brothers, Walter Scanlon and his wife, Peg, of Bristol, Robert Murphy and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Montana, Lawrence Murphy and his wife, Catherine, of Oakville, and Michael Murphy and his wife, Brenda, of Sandy Hook; his sisters, Ellen Clement of Southington, Muriel Brasche of Vermont, and Barbara Rossi and her husband, Rocco, of Southington; and many special and loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held May 2 from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, to St. Thomas Church, Southington. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
Francis J. O'Brien
The Honorable Francis J. O'Brien, of Meriden, died April 29, 2008 after a long illness. He was the husband of 58 years if Ann Godfrey O'Brien.
He was born in 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, but lived most of his life in Meriden. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and held degrees from Fordham University and the University of Connecticut School of Law. As a partner in the law firm of O'Brien, Komisky, Noonan and Shea, he was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal courts. After appointment as judge of the Meriden City Court in 1959, he was elevated to the Circuit Court in 1961; to the Court of Common Pleas in 1965; and in 1972, he was named Chief Judge of that court. He was appointed to the Superior Court where he served until his retirement at age 81 in 2002. During his 40 years on the bench, he presided in many jurisdictions throughout the state. But no part of his professional career was more personally satisfying to Judge O'Brien than his final years in Waterbury, where he and the members of that bar held each other in high esteem. He was a man of abiding faith and had deep commitment to public service in the name of justice. He was devoted to his wife and family with whom he traveled extensively. He enjoyed music, played the piano and sang for many years with the Turner Singing Society of Meriden. He served on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank and of the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Geraldine O. Sullivan and Joan V. O'Brien; his daughter, Jean O. Livingston, and son-in-law, L. Michael Livingston; his sons, Francis Gerald (Jerry) O'Brien, Thomas P. O'Brien and Robert E O'Brien; two grandchildren, Peter G. Livingston, and Elizabeth M. Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary K. O'Brien
Services were held May 2 from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, to Mary Our Queen Church, Plantsville. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.

Edward S. Salvatore
Edward S. Salvatore, 90, of South Main Street in Plantsville, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Plainville Health Care. He was the husband of Mary (Lorenzo) Salvatore.
Born Aug. 22, 1917 in Southington, a son of the late Sisto and Sally (Petryski) Salvatore. He had worked at the former Peck Stow & Wilcox and retired in 1984 from Pratt & Whitney in Southington. Mr. Salvatore graduated from Wilcox Tech.
Besides his wife, he is survived by nine children, Ronald Salvatore and his wife, Joanne, of Southington, Susan Emond and her fiancé, Philip Girardin, of Bristol, David Salvatore and his wife, Sheryl, of Southington, William Salvatore and his partner, Dave Gallup, of Bristol, Carol Richard, of Berlin, Dennis Salvatore, of Middletown, Gary Salvatore and his wife, Vanna, of Southington, Edward T. Salvatore, of Plantsville, and Christine Simone and her husband, Gary, of Southington; a brother, Alphonse Salvatore, of Southington; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 5 from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, St. Thomas Church. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
Genevieve E. "Ginger" Wilson
Genevieve E. "Ginger" Wilson, 72, of Carter Lane, Plantsville, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Southington Care Center.
Born March 6, 1936, in Hartford, to the late Dean and Ethel (Buckingham) Wilson, she had lived in Southington for the past 12 years. She was retired from Allied Control, and later, Snap Tite in Ohio.
She leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas K. and Mary Jane Wilson of New York; a niece, Kim Coppola and her husband, Dave, of Southington; two nephews, Richard Wilson, of New York, and Thomas P. Wilson, of Nebraska; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; and many aunts and uncles, including her special aunt, Peggy Robinson, of Woodbury.
Services were held May 8 at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family, in South End Cemetery.
Joseph S. Zaorski Jr.
Joseph S. Zaorski Jr., 52, of Southington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2008, he was the husband of 20 years of Louise (Foley) Zaorski.
Born in Meriden, Oct. 19, 1955, he was the son of Joseph S. and Angeline (Carino) Zaorski Sr., of Meriden. He was the plant manager at Keeney Manufacturing Company in Newington for over 15 years. He was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church where he was a member of their school board for three years. He loved to cook and spend time with his daughter, Alyssa. He also taught his daughter to play golf and was her "study buddy." He was an avid golfer and a member of Hawk's Landing Country Club, he also enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Alyssa Zaorski, of Southington; two sisters, Sharon Gonska and her husband, Stanley, of Southington, and Elise Zaorski, of Meriden; two aunts, Theresa Caron and Mary Misiorski; three nieces, Heather, Kari and Kristi; a nephew, Brent; his mother and father-in-law, Paul and Marie Foley; and several cousins who were like siblings to him. He was predeceased by a brother, Marcel Zaorski.
Services were held on May 15 at St. Dominic Church, Southington. Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, was in charge of arrangements.

Ann M. Miller
Ann (Migacz) Miller, of the Masonic Home in Wallingford, formerly of Southington, died May 5.
She was born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret Migacz. Prior to her retirement in 1978, she was employed by Fafnir Bearing Company in Newington for 30 years.
She is survived by a son, Charles Miller, of Torrington; a daughter, Carol Murphy, of Southington; five grandchildren, Deanna Rice, Greg Murphy, Jessica Cain, Michael Miller and Jennifer Miller; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Matthew Migacz, and a sister, Veronica Backiel, both of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Miller; a sister, Bertha Budnick; and a brother, Jacob Migacz.
Services were held May 9 at St. Dominic Church, Southington. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, was is charge of arrangements.
Gerald E. Bates Sr.
Gerald E. Bates Sr., 74, of Southington, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of the late Druscilla (Kriebel) Bates.
Born Dec. 17, 1933 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mildred (Orvis) Bates. Mr. Bates was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S Marine Corps. He was employed by the TLC Oil Company before his retirement. In addition, he was a member of the Teamsters Local 559, and the South Windsor American Legion. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins fan.
He is survived by four children, Deborah Kizilski and her husband, William, of Plantsville, Diane Cyr of Plymouth, Gerald E. Bates Jr. of Bristol, and Mona Brockett and her husband, Peter, of East Haven; 10 grandchildren, Shelley Kizilski-Anderson, Holly and Stacey Kizilski, Daniel and Joshua Cyr, Kristen, Corey and Bryan Bates, and Jeremy and Jeffery Brockett; a great-grandson, Zackery James Kizilski-Anderson; four brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Bates, both of Southington, Richard Bates of Waterbury, and Lowell Bates of Florida; a sister, Alma Mae Vincent, of Florida; a special niece, Kimberly Renehan, of Southington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 23 at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington. Burial, with full military honors, was in South End Cemetery.

Dorothy H. Domalewski
Dorothy (Haburay) Domalewski, 82, of Cheshire, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Highland Health Care Center in Cheshire. She was the wife of Joseph J. Domalewski.
Born in New Britain, March 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Stankiewicz) Haburay. She had been employed by Allied Controls and was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Darleen Foley of Southington; and a son, Dean Domalewski, of Pasadena, Calif.; a granddaughter, Katherine Foley of Southington; a brother, Michael Haburay of Madison; and a sister, Margurite LaBouliere; along with many nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 24 at Aloysius Church, Plantsville. Della Vecchia Funeral Home, Southington. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Maria C. McMahon
Maria C. (Gaetano) McMahon, 90, of Bristol, formerly of Berkley Avenue, Southington, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Bristol Hospital. She had been the wife of the late Deacon John P. McMahon Jr.
She was born in New Britain, Sept. 17, 1917, and had been a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
She is survived by her sons, John Patrick McMahon III, of Isle LaMotte, Vt., and Daniel A. McMahon and Brian T. McMahon, both of Bristol; along with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services and burial were private.

Paul R. Nagle Jr.
Paul R. Nagle Jr., 62, of Berlin, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at home.
Born Nov. 12, 1945, in Bristol, he was the son of the late Paul and Doris (Barbier) Nagle. He was raised in Southington, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1967. As an international corporate executive, he worked in New York, N.Y., Pasadena, Calif., and London, U.K., during his 30-year career. More recently, he had been a financial advisor in Connecticut. Mr. Nagle was a dedicated golfer, having played golf courses around the world. He was an active volunteer for The Cove Center for Grieving Children.
He is survived by two daughters, Brittany Connor and her husband, Chris, of New York, N.Y., and Meghan Weissel and her husband, Darren, of Australia; a grandson, Mason Weissel and his former wife, Kim Nagle; four brothers, William Nagle and his wife, Patricia, of Southington, Patrick Nagle and his wife, Francis Madrone, and Kevin Nagle and his wife, Judy, all of California, and Dennis Nagle of Southington; and two sisters, Barbara Nagle of Southington, and Kathleen Roberson of Cheshire.
Services were held May 24 at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Lucia F. Pietrantuono
Lucia (Francalangia) Pietrantuono, 85, of New Britain, died May 23, 2008, at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of 60 years of the late Michele Pietrantuono.
Born in Campodipietra, Italy, she lived in New Britain for 47 years. Mrs. Pietrantuono worked at American Bazaar for 25 years and was a member of St. Ann's Church, New Britain.
She leaves her two children, Maria Pietrantuono of New Britain, and Vicky DiMaio and her husband, Giovanni, of Southington; two grandchildren, Jennifer Grossman and her husband, Seth, and their children, Mya and Ari, of North Easton, Mass., and Michael DiMaio of Albany, N.Y.; two brothers, Amedeo Francalangia and his wife, Emilia, of New Britain, and Carlo Francalangia and his wife, Antoinette, of Plainville; and her sister, Beatrice Cefaratti of Devon, Pa.
The family would like to express great appreciation to Lucia's caregivers during her recent illness: Ali Chavez and Vita Colossale, both compassionate personal care attendants; the family is most grateful to Ruth Lasota, a registered nurse from the Hospice Palliative Care Team of the Visiting Nurses of Central Connecticut, for providing compassionate and loving care not only to Lucia, but her family as well; she provided holistic nursing care as it should be. The family is also grateful to Michelle Kieras, the medical social worker with the Hospice team, who promised that we would not walk this walk alone. The Hospice team was with us every step of the way. The family is also grateful to Dr. Brian Byrne and Dr. Michael Posner, for being persistent in their care and for making Lucia comfortable as she left this world.
Services were held May 27 from New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home to St. Ann's Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Garden Mausoleum, New Britain.

Lois A. Sima
Lois A. Sima, 80, of Southington, and Brimley, Mich., died Sunday, May 18, 2008, peacefully surrounded by her at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late John F. Sima.
Born Jan. 18, 1928, in Wyandotte, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Viola LaCourse. She was a communicant of Mary our Queen Church, Southington, and Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, in Brimley, Mich. Mrs. Sima was the cofounder and secretary of Sima Drilling Company, Cheshire. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild at Mary Our Queen, a member of the Parish Council and a Eucharistic minister at Blessed Kateri.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses: Judith and John Block of Traverse City, Mich., John and Mary Sima of Southington, Larry and Kathleen Sima of Southington, Raymond and Cindy Sima of Cheshire, Patricia and Donald Titus of Malvern, Pa., James and Jackie Sima of Cheshire, and Robert and Kathy Sima of Southington; a sister, Mary Maureen of Washington; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Jennie, Larry, John, Kim, Marcie, George, Matt, Allison, Jamie, Katie, Jean, Kayla, Joe, Jessica, Kevin, Judy, Chris and Julie; six great-grandchildren; a special friend, Nicole; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Mildred Sheppard, and three brothers, Kenneth LaCourse, John LaCourse and Raymond LaCourse, predeceased her.
Services were held May 22 from Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home to St. Aloysius Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
