Susan Beth Ruskouski
Susan Beth Ruskouski, 65, wife of Charles “Chuck” Ruskouski, passed away on August 17, 2008 at Danbury Hospital. Susan was born May 21, 1943 in Milford, CT, daughter of the late George B. and Florence (Voos) Morrison.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Danbury. Susan was employed at Candlewood Mobil Home Park as an office manager. When her children were younger, she played an active part in all of their extra curricular activities. She enjoyed performing in St. Gregory’s annual “variety show”.
Each spring, she enjoyed planting countless flowers that she would tend to throughout the summer months. She was very talented in knitting and crochet work. Susan was an avid dog lover, and enjoyed spending time with her six standard poodles.
As time went on, she enjoyed spending time at home with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Summers would be spent outside by the pool while winters would be spent inside watching the latest movie. Holidays were always something she would look forward to, with Christmas being her favorite. Christmas will always be remembered with her baking dozens of anise cookies that her kids and grandkids would decorate and then eat. Decorating the Christmas tree included an elaborate village underneath that her husband would help her with, and wrapping lots of presents for family and friends.
Besides her husband Chuck, Susan is survived by her son Charles Ruskouski, Jr., of Danbury; her daughters Holly and Rami Ghannam, of Danbury; Stacey and Daniel Zieminski, of Danbury; and Suzanne Ruskouski, of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Nancy and Robert Mochrie, of North Attleboro, Mass.; her six grandchildren, Amanda, Benjamin, Noelle, and Alexander Ghannam; Madolynn Susan Ruskouski; and Charles T Ruskouski.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the King Street United Church of Christ at 11:00am. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family.

Christian C. Major
January 09, 1978 - June 13, 2009
Christian Charles Major, age 31, of Danbury, died on Saturday, June 13th, in Afghanistan. He was born in Danbury on January 9, 1978. He was the son of Maureen K. (Luff) Major Ullah and Abraham Ullah, and Charles and Maggie Major.
Christian was a graduate of St. Mary School, Bethel, Class of 1992, Immaculate High School, Class of 1996, and Wooster Academy, Wooster Mass, Class of 1997. He attended the University of Maine at Orono.
A Veteran, Christian, proudly served his country with the United States Navy and later continued with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, US Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Badge, and a Parachutist Badge.
Christian was currently working as a MATOC Project Manager for ASG in Afghanistan. Christian, fondly known as “Major”, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved his New England Pats. A friend to many, one friend recently wrote in tribute of him “I instantly became a big fan of his when I saw him interacting with the local beggar kids on our first morning together. He had exceptional language skills, he was a very big and very fit guy, had an infectious smile, great sense of humor and like all the good guys in my line of work a tender heart.” Christian was a very good man who helped many and lived a life based on his beliefs.
In addition to his parents, Maureen Major Ullah and Abraham Ullah of Danbury, Charles and Maggie Major of St. Augustine, FL; he will be sadly missed by his beloved brother, Brendan J. Major of Westchester, NY; his uncle, Kevin Luff and his wife, Laura Isaia-Luff of Oceanside, NY; and his stepsister, Karina Minacapelli of Scottsdale, AZ. and numerous friends both locally and abroad.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 24th at 10:00am at St. Mary Church in Bethel. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday between the hours of 3:00 and 8:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
Service times and dates will be confirmed in tomorrow’s paper.

Olga G. DeRubertis

Olga G. (Pacific) DeRubertis, of Meadow Street, Danbury, beloved wife of the late Ralph O. DeRubertis, Sr., died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, February 12th. She was born in Watertown, NY on April 20, 1921, daughter of the late Frank and Ertsia (Martini) Pacific.
Mrs. DeRubertis was a homemaker who lovingly maintained the family home. She loved to play bingo, and enjoyed wintering in Florida. Most importantly, she was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Her family was the center of her life.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Ralph DeRubertis, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Bethel; her two daughters, Valerie DeRubertis of Danbury, and Maria Morabito and her husband, Frank of Jupiter, FL; her six grandchildren, Michele Olam and her husband, Chris, Scott DeRubertis and his wife, Shannon, Michael Bonacci and his wife, Kristen, Ryan DeRubertis, Justin DeRubertis, and Melissa Morabito; and her four great grandchildren, Justine, Olivia, Michaela and Sara. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Fazio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her great granddaughter, Renee Olam; and her brothers, Joseph, Rocco, and Attzio Pacific.

Raymond P. Massagli, Jr. age 60 of New Fairfield, beloved husband of Judith (Brewer) Massagli, died on Friday, December 11th at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Manhattan, New York on August 14, 1949, son of his loving parents Raymond P. and Albina ( D’Amato) Massagli of Buchanan, New York.
Raymond had a long career of 40 years as a bank auditor and worked most recently for Sheshunoff Management Services. Prior to that, he worked many years at both Fairfield County Savings Bank and The Putnam Trust Company of Greenwich, Connecticut.
Raymond was a loving husband and father and lived life to the fullest. He was a founding and active member of the Danbury Area Aquarium Society and collected tropical fish for 50 years. He loved vacationing to Cape Cod, and was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan.
In addition to his wife and parents, he will be sadly missed by his son Raymond; daughter Sandra and her husband Matthew Feldman of Hyde Park, New York; grandchildren Brandon, Evan, Kailen and Bret Feldman. He is also survived by his sister, Laura and her husband James Petrillo of Buchanan, New York; his cousin Philip Ranieri of Florida, New York; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White St. Danbury on Friday, December 18th between the hours of 4 and 8pm. A service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in the Cornell Memorial home with burial at the Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield.

Arduino "Art" Magnifico

Arduino “Art” Magnifico, 83, of Danbury, devoted husband of Mary (Moffa) Magnifico, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 7th. He was born in Riccia Campobasso, Italy on December 6, 1927, son of the late Florindo and Carmela (Martina) Magnifico.
Art was well known as a figure at the Old Oak Restaurant and later, along with his brother Fiorino, owned and operated Magnificos Restaurant. He was a person of devotion and integrity, a man who understood a hard day's work. Art was a wonderful chef and cooking was his passion. His greatest joy was a table surrounded by family and friends, enjoying the dishes he lovingly prepared.
Art lived as a proud American, yet his native country, Italy remained deep in his heart.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary of 60 years, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lorenzina “Lorie” Davis of Danbury; his granddaughter, Tessa Davis of New Haven; his two brothers, Fiorino Magnifico and his wife, Thereza of Fl, and Carmen Magnifico and his wife, Rosa of Italy; his sister, Lorenza Geremia and her husband, Giuseppe of Italy; and his sister-in-law, Concetta Magnifico of Italy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Michele Magnifico.

Mary Ukers

Mary (Layok) Ukers, 87, of Stark Tor, Danbury, wife of the late Donald Ukers, Sr., died at River Glen Convalescent Center in Southbury on Saturday, April 15th. She was born in Crabtree, PA., on May 5, 1918, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Hrobak) Layok.
Mrs. Ukers worked as a psychiatric aide for Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Donald Ukers and his wife, Carol of New Milford and George Ukers and his wife, Melissa of Danbury; her daughter, Robin Bondi of Waterbury; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, John Layok of Danbury, Edward Layok of Danbury, and Louis Layok of New Fairfield; her sisters, Elaine Syzmonwitz of New Fairfield, and Ann Sidel of Long Island, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Pugner.

Florence M. Gilbert, 85, of Brookfield died on Sunday, May 1st at Danbury Hospital. Florence was born October 27, 1925 in Danbury to the late Joseph H. and Mildred (Donnelly) Gilbert.
Florence is survived by one sister, Hazel Wagner and her husband Ernest of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Julius V. Grandieri

Julius V. Grandieri, age 86, of Heritage Village, Southbury, husband of the late Nancy (Senior) Grandieri, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, February 15th. He was born in Danbury on September 4, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Antonia (Leo) Grandieri.
Mr. Grandieri was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corp. He owned and operated Grand Manufacturing, which specialized in Ladies Sportswear, for more than 40 years in Danbury.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the VFW, the Phoenix Hose Co. # 8 in Danbury, and was a charter member of the Marine Corp. League.
He enjoyed water sports, living on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield, and vacationing at his home in Rhode Island. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Joseph Grandieri and his wife, Patricia of Southbury, Robert Grandieri and his wife, Robin of Waterford; his daughters, Mary Ann Foncello and her husband, Martin of Brookfield; Diane Pflomm and her husband, Brian of New Milford; his grandchildren, Joseph, David and Michael Grandieri, Laura Grandieri and her husband, Christopher, Bryan and Kevin Grandieri, Martin Foncello III and his wife, Nicole, Jason and Lisa Pflomm; and his three great grandchildren, Sooki and Rori Grandieri, and Nina Foncello. He is also survived by his three brothers, Peter, Modesto and Donald Grandieri; his sister-in-law, Mary Grandieri; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Thea Senior; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Francis Grandieri.

Mary Lou Seaman
Mary Lou (Horch) Seaman, 69, loving wife of 46 years to Michael A. Seaman Sr., passed away peacefully, Monday December 26th. Mary Lou was born and raised in Danbury. She was the eldest child born to the late L. Donald and Elinor (DePalma) Horch-Doto.
Mary Lou graduated form St. Peters School and Danbury High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mentor. Mary Lou loved family traditions and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Along with her husband, Michael, Mary Lou is survived by her three beloved children, Michael A. Seaman Jr. and his wife Heidi of New Fairfield, Paul Seaman and his wife Andrea of Danbury and Ellen Lyall and her husband Daniel also of Danbury; seven grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Analiese and Melanie Seaman, Jack and Reed Lyall and Quinn Seaman; two brothers, Donald Horch and his wife Carole of and James Horch and his wife Beth; and two nephews, Chris and Peter Horch.

Michael T. Rafferty, 50, of Brookfield, died Thursday, December 29th. He was born September 19, 1961 in Danbury. Michael was the son to the late John C. Rafferty and Eleanor (Young) Rafferty.
Michael worked as a paramedic for Danbury Hospital and was a past Assistant Chief of Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, Candlewood Company. He was awarded Paramedic of the Year.
Along with his mother, Eleanor, Michael is survived by his brother, Jack Rafferty and his wife Yvonne of New Port Richey, FL; his sister, Nancy Ludington and her husband Charles of Hudson, FL; two nephews, Eric and Thomas Ludington; his niece, Allison Rafferty and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM on Monday, January 2nd at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Joyce M. Cossuto
Joyce Mary Cossuto of Brookfield passed away Monday December 26, 2011 at The Village at Brookfield Common. She was the loving wife of the late Leonard Cossuto also of Brookfield. Joyce was born July 7, 1928 in Harrow Middlesex, England. She was the loving daughter to the late William and Florence (Littleboy) Pooley.
Joyce left England and came to America at the end of WW II, to start a new life with her Fiance' Leonard. They were married in Norwalk, CT where they raised their family and started a family business before moving to Brookfield. Joyce was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren and continued to work along side her husband until she retired in 1999.
Joyce is survived by her four children, Allen Cossuto and his wife Joan of New Milford, Catherine Zucca and her husband Richard, Philip Cossuto and his wife Cindy, Joseph Cossuto and his wife Diane, all of Bridgewater; six grandchildren, Randal Cossuto and his wife Melissa, Liana Gaudenzi and her husband Gregory, Jennifer Pomeroy and her husband Jym Morgan, Alison Pomeroy, Vincent and Jared Cossuto; two great grandchildren Kaylie and Allen Michael; and three sisters, Violet Jefferies of SC, Mary Keen and Pat Hall's of England.
The Family would like to thank the many local agencies that provided caregivers and the wonderful staff at The Village at Brookfield Common for their years of providing excellent care to Joyce.
