Robert F. Beardsley Sr.

May 28, 1927 - January 28, 2007

Robert F. Beardsley, Sr., 80, of West Starr Plains Road, Danbury, devoted husband of the late Gloria (Petro) Beardsley, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, January 28th. He was born in Danbury on May 28, 1927, son of the late Charles and Margaret Beardsley.

Mr. Beardsley was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in the 865th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. He later owned and operated J & B Roofing in Danbury.

He was a member of the Elks Club, the Moose Club and the Eagle Club. He was also a member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion.

He will be sadly missed by his son, James Beardsley and his wife, Zellie of Safety Harbor, Florida; and his two grandsons, Dennis Michael Beardsley, Jr. and Jamesison Beardsley, both of Danbury. He is also survived by his brother, George “Whitey” Beardsley of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

A Graveside Service will be held at St. Peter Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:00am.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, January 30th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm with a Funeral Service at 7:00pm.

Emil R. Such

October 16, 1918 - May 19, 2007

Emil R. Such, 88, of Ives Manor, Danbury, husband of the late Gertrude (Willrich) Such, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, May 19th. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 16, 1918. .

Mr. Such was a self employed construction worker. He enjoyed horse racing.

He is survived by his son, Emil R. Such of Danbury; his grandchildren, Ryan E. Such of Danbury and Tracy L. Such of New Milford. He is also survived by his brother, Ernest Such of New Jersey.

He was predeceased by his four siblings.

Funeral Information

A Gathering of Friends will take place on Saturday June, 9th at 12:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

Bodil Horree

February 13, 1942 - May 25, 2007

Bodil (Post) Horree, 65, of Tower Road, Brookfield, beloved wife of Jon D. Horree, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, May 25th. She was born in Yonkers, NY on February 13, 1942, daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Mortensen) Post.

Mrs. Horree made her home in Brookfield in 1970. She worked as a secretary for Pitney-Bowes in Danbury for more than thirty years. She enjoyed sewing clothing for herself and her family; and working in her flower garden.

In addition to her husband of 44 years, Jon, she will be sadly missed by her son, David T. Horree of Brookfield; her daughter, Deborah Barlow and her husband, David of Clinton; her three grandchildren, Kayla and Courtney Horree, and Dylan Barlow. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Post of Deer Park, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Friday, June 8th at 7:00pm. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.

Anna D. Key

January 27, 1935 - June 02, 2007

Anna Dora (DeMarinis) Key, age 72 of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Bethel, died on June 2, 2007 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William Key, Sr.

Anna was born in Hazelton, PA, on January 27, 1935, a daughter of the late Mariano and Rose (Pastorella) DeMarinis. She and her husband moved to Bethel in 1967 where they raised their family. She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary.

Anna was a homemaker for most of her life; she worked as a sales associate for Macy’s in Danbury from 1987 until her retirement in 2003. Anna was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart, she will greatly be missed and warmly remembered.

She is survived by a son: William Key and his wife, Dierdre, with whom she made her home, of Myrtle Beach, SC; 2 daughters: Deborah R. Pomponio and her husband, James of Danbury, and Linda A DePace and her husband David of Bethel; 6 grandchildren: Matthew Key, James Pomponio, Leanna Pomponio, Danielle Baksic, Jacqueline DePace, and Kyle DePace; 4 great grandchildren: William, Riley, Mikayla and Cameron, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother: Joseph DeMarinis and 3 sisters: Jenny Belusko, Rosella Matteo and Virginia Petrilla.

Funeral Information

The Funeral Service and burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel were private and at the direction of the family.

Mary G. Haddy

November 02, 1921 - June 10, 2007

Mary G. (McColgan) Haddy, 85, of Jefferson Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Francis J. Haddy, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, June 10th. She was born in County Antrim, Ireland on November 2, 1921, daughter of the late Michael and Ellen (Dellett) McColgan. She graduated from Danbury State Teachers College, and Colombia University with a Masters Degree in Education.

Mrs. Haddy was a dedicated educator who taught in the Danbury School System for more than 36 years. She spent the majority of her career as a third grade teacher at Park Avenue School. She was a member of the National Education Association and the Danbury Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, gardening, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Mary was especially proud of her family and her heritage. She was a loving and devoted grandmother who was an integral part her grandchildren’s lives.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Frank J. Haddy and Jackie Tremblay of North Conway, NH; her three daughters, Kathy Haddy of Brookfield, Barbara Maher and her husband Edward of Brookfield, and Mary Beth Karpich and her husband, John of New Milford; her nine grandchildren, Brook and Jeffrey Haddy, Kelly Haddy and her fiancé, Jeff Durgan, Sam Haddy, Scott Hubina, Eddie and Michael Maher, Eric and Kevin Karpich. She is also survived by special family friend, Ellen Hubina of Brookfield; her sister-in-law, Andree McColgan of Watertown; her special cousin, William Martin of Brookfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be conducted from the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, June 13th at 9:15am for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12th between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm.

Inez Leatherby

November 20, 1921 - October 18, 2007

Inez (Markin) Leatherby, age 85, of Fox Den Road, Danbury, wife of the late Jack Leatherby, died at her home on Thursday, October 18th. She was born in Lime Ridge Wisconsin on November 20, 1921, daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Goodell) Markin.

Mrs. Leatherby worked an executive housekeeper for Pasco County Hospital and Riverside Hospital, both in Florida. She enjoyed baking, crafts and was an avid bowler, bowling in 48 states.

She will be sadly missed by her special friend, Dr. Allen Inankur with whom she made her home; and a large circle of friends who were like family. She is also survived by her son, Patrick Leatherby; her granddaughter Kelly Snyder and her husband, Arthur; her great grandchildren, Abigail, and John Patrick Snyder, all of Alabama; and her brother, Glen Markin of Illinois.

A life long animal lover, she will be missed by her beloved boxers, Brutus III and Honey.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Donald Markin; and her sister, Beverly Stetler.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, October 22nd at 11:00am with Pastor Walt Harper officiating. Burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery will follow.

Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home on Monday between the hours of 5-7pm.

Bernard Re Sr

May 17, 1925 - December 21, 2006

�Absent from the body, present with the Lord.�

Bernard Re Sr. of New Milford, beloved husband of 57 years to Rose (Mariano) Re, died suddenly at New Milford Hospital on Thursday, December 21st at the age of 81. He was born in Luzerne, PA on May 17, 1925, son of the late Calogero and Rosa (DiJunio) Re.

Mr. Re was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a dispatch manager for Mariano Brothers in New Milford for ten years. He then worked as a bare wire inspector for Viking Wire in Danbury, retiring after 25 years. From 1985 until 1992, he and his wife Rose owned and operated a bed and breakfast, The Rose and the Bear, in New Hampshire. In recent years he was employed at Aspetuck Gardens in New Preston.

Mr. Re was a founding member of the First Assembly of God Church in Brookfield. He loved gardening, plastics engraving, and was very artistic in many fields. He enjoyed bowling and bowled with the Viking Wire and Mariano Brother�s teams in the commercial league.

In addition to his cherished wife, Rose, he will be sadly missed by his four sons, Bernard Jr. of Canaan and Nancy Collins of Colchester, Carlo and his wife, Kathy of Danbury, Timothy and his wife, Nancy of Laurel, Delaware, Joseph and his wife, Kirsten of Stamford; his daughter, Carina Stefanko and her husband Chris of Sandy Hook ; his grandchildren, Sarah and Ken Keating, Jamie Re, Natalie, Robert, Randy, and Ryan Re, Christopher and Renee Stefanko, Emily and Erhan Uskudarli, Elizabeth and Josue Higueros, Katie and Michael Jones, Molly and Justin Tomlinson, Kelly, Peggy, Rosie, Mary, Hannah and Louisa Re; and six great grandchildren, Anthony and Angelina Re, Siera and Timothy Jones, Isabel Higueros, and Sophia Uskudarli. He is also survived by his four brothers, Matthew Re of Stratford, Samuel Re of North Carolina, Gerald Re of Pennsylvania, and David Re of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Re.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Brookfield on Wednesday, December 27th at 11:00am. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends at the First Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, December 26th between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00pm.

Bianca (Bortolussi) Zancan, age 86, of Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, wife of the late Domenico Zancan, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday. She was born in Travesio, Italy on November 9, 1921, daughter of the late Valentino and Cecelia Bortolussi.

Mrs. Zancan was a homemaker who lovingly maintained the family home for her husband and three sons. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Danbury. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was an accomplished seamstress.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Walter L. Zancan and his wife Carrie of Hamilton, OH, Dennis D. Zancan and his wife, Anna of Danbury, and Dominic J. Zancan and his wife, Maura of Brookfield; her seven grandchildren, Sara, Caroline, Wally, Dennis, Alex, Betheney and Brenden; and one great granddaughter, Emma. She is also survived by her sister, Antonia Braida, with whom she made her home; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 19th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
