Robert A. Ruscoe
April 02, 1942 - August 23, 2004
Robert A. Ruscoe, 62, of Danbury, husband of the late Patricia (Uva) Ruscoe, died unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Monday, August 23rd. He was born in Norwalk on April 2, 1942, son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Palasko) Ruscoe. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Class of 1960.
Mr. Ruscoe was an ASE Master Technician, retiring from Robert Buick after 20 years of employment. Prior to that he worked for Wilton Motors and Bob Sharp Nissan.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. He enjoyed membership in the Mid Atlantic Fiero Owners Association and the New England Fiero Association. He loved to travel throughout New England and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Jon M. Ruscoe and his wife, Bonnie of Virginia and Patrick R. Ruscoe, Sr. and his wife, Michelle of Naugatuck; his daughter, Michele A. Ruscoe and her fiancé, David Nuzzaci of Danbury; He is also survived his four grandchildren, Tyler, Erika, and Patrick Ruscoe, Jr., and Brianna Went; his two brothers, Willis Ruscoe of Delaware and James Ruscoe of Peru, NY.; and his longtime companion, Barbara Jannetty of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Ruscoe, Jr.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 27th at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Thursday, August 26th between the hours of 4 and 7pm.
Donald D. Ginand,VMD
October 24, 1934 - October 02, 2005
Dr. Donald D. Ginand, age 70, of Brookfield, died at home Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, surrounded by the love of his family. He courageously faced his long illness with a unique and subtle sense of humor.
He was the beloved husband of June Fridy Ginand and father of Sharon (Sherri) Ginand of San Diego, California, David Ginand of Hartford, and Karen Ginand of Prospect, CT. He was the son of Dr. Karl Ginand and the late Sarah Jane Hastings Ginand. He is also survived by his brother Charles Ginand, his grandchildren Omari, Mariama, Damani and Khari Rashadeen, and many dear family members and friends.
Dr. Ginand was raised in Trumbull, CT, graduated from Bassick High School, Bridgeport, CT, and received his B.S. degree from Bates College, Maine. He met his wife, June, at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his degree in veterinary medicine in 1960. After graduation, Dr. Ginand practiced veterinary medicine in Kingston, MA, and New Haven, CT, before serving as a captain in the Army Veterinary Medical Corps in CA.
Dr. Ginand established Brookfield’s first veterinary clinic in 1964, treating pets and farm animals. He often remarked, "There is nothing else I’d rather be doing - I’m one of the lucky ones." His desire was to help animals and their families, caring deeply for all of them. Dr. Ginand was a dedicated veterinarian who truly loved all creatures; often adopting animals that found their way to him, including his dog Ally, who is a comfort to the family.
He shared his love of veterinary medicine by speaking to youth groups and giving tours of his clinic. He also worked with animal welfare organizations and Guiding Eyes for the Blind. His professional commitment was also reflected in his membership in several veterinary organizations and attendance at veterinary conferences, including one to animal disease research centers in Kenya, Africa.
Dr. Ginand had many interests and made numerous contributions to the community. As a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Brookfield, he served in several capacities. He was a member of the Brookfield Board of Education and the building committee for Whisconier School. In summer months he was active in the State Police Auxiliary Candlewood Lake Patrol and during winter storms he used his four-wheel drive vehicle to assist police with emergency transport.
He had a lifelong love of the outdoors. In his youth he was a camp counselor. He was an officer of the Bates College Outing Club, which helped maintain the Appalachian Trail. He belonged to various environmental and sportsmen’s organizations, including Newtown Fish and Game Club and Laurel Bank Fishing Club.
Dr. and Mrs. Ginand supported many national and local charities. They hosted children from NY City through a fresh air program, and for over 40 years have sponsored children through the Christian Children’s Fund.
A devoted family man and friend, he especially enjoyed spending free time with them boating and fishing on Lake Candlewood or camping at the Lutheran camp in NH. He was a role model for his children. He was non-judgmental, lived with humility, and always helped others in need. Don’s high school yearbook described him as "a pillar of strength and character." He will be missed.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Brookfield, at noon, Saturday, Oct. 15.

Mary A. Zawilinsky
January 22, 1921 - October 17, 2005
Mary A. (Bender) Zawilinsky, formerly of Waterbury, wife of the late Stanley Zawilinsky, died at Danbury Health Care Center on Monday, October 17th. She was born in Waterbury on January 22, 1921, daughter of the late Margaret (Jakubczyk) Bender and the late Alexander Bender.
Mary made her home in Waterbury most of her life and was employed by Scovill Manufacturing Company from 1966 until her retirement in 1977. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Zawilinsky) Fesh and her husband, Stephen, with whom she made her home for the past two years. She is also survived by her grandson Scott Vaiskauckas of Danbury; her brother, John Bender and his wife, Anna, of Wolcott; her sister, Estelle Skorvanek of Waterbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1985; her brother, William, in 1981, and her brother Alexander in 1996.
Funeral Information
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, October 21st at 10:00am. Interment will be private.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Nicolo LaPorta
November 30, 1919 - October 18, 2005
Nicolo LaPorta, 85, of Topfield Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Anne (Pisapia) LaPorta, died at his home on Tuesday, October 18th. He was born in Danbury on November 30, 1919, son of the late Guiseppe and Michaelina (Cozza) LaPorta.
Mr. LaPorta was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He worked as a self-employed plumber during his younger years. He retired as a plant manager for Danbury Hospital in 1979.
Mr. LaPorta enjoyed a simple life, and was happiest spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Anne, he is survived by his son Joe LaPorta and his wife, Joanne of Danbury; and his two grandsons, Joey and Michael LaPorta, both of Danbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21st at 10:00am at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, October 20th between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm.

Daniel P. Cipolla
September 24, 1953 - October 19, 2005
Daniel P. Cipolla, of Glenwood Avenue, Norwalk, husband of Mary (Fretina) Cipolla, died on Wednesday, October 19th. He was born in Danbury on September 24, 1953, son of Daniel and Ruth (Graze) Cipolla. He was a graduate of New Milford High School.
Mr. Cipolla was a self employed mason and carpenter.
In addition to his wife, and parents he is survived by his two sons, Anthony Goldie of Florida, and Nicholas Cipolla of Danbury; his two stepdaughters, Jodie and Lori Fretina of Norwalk; and one grandson, Nicholas Cipolla, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Cipolla and his wife, Sandra of Bridgewater; his sister, Larina Cipolla of Manhattan, NY; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Diane Cipolla.
Funeral Information
In keeping with the family’s wishes, funeral services and burial will be private. The Brookfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carmine Mancusi
July 16, 1942 - October 20, 2005
Carmine “Papi” Mancusi, 63, of Nashville Road, Bethel, husband of Giuseppina (Langone) Mancusi, went Home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 20th at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Teggiano, Italy on July 16, 1942, the youngest of the eleven children of the late Michael and Agnes (Furiati) Mancusi.
Mr. Mancusi made his home in the United States in 1960 and worked as a self employed Electronic Technician. He spoke several languages, enjoyed cooking, wine, soccer, bocce, Western movies, playing free cell and painting with both oil and water colors.
He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. He was well known to many for his spectacular Christmas light display on Weed Road in Bethel.
Most importantly, Mr. Mancusi was a dedicated student of the Bible. His greatest gifts to his children were his example of living a humble life, and instilling a solid foundation of Faith and love of God in them.
In addition to his wife, Giuseppina, he will be sadly missed by his children, Michael J. Mancusi and his wife, Amy of Danbury, David Mancusi and his wife Emily of Danbury, Agnes Mancusi and her fiancé, Chris Dickinson, of Bethel. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters in Italy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 24th at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield at 10:30 am. with Father Peter Towsley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, on Sunday, October 23rd between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00pm.

Dominic M. Bonacci Sr.
April 22, 1918 - October 22, 2005
Dominic M. Bonacci, Sr., age 87, formerly of Park Lawn Drive, Bethel, husband of the late Shirley (Peck) Bonacci, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, October 22, 2005. He was born in Kennelworth, Utah on April 22, 1918, son of the late Joseph and Rose (Scalzo) Bonacci.
Mr. Bonacci was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He worked as an automotive mechanic for Frank Kovacs Texaco Automotive for more than fifteen years. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Church in Danbury and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Michael Bonacci and his wife, Virginia of Bethel, and Dominic M. Bonacci, Jr. and his wife, Margaret of New Fairfield; his six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Bonacci of Danbury; his sister Marylou Pasquarella of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard Bonacci.
Funeral Information
The funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 from the Cornell Memorial Home at 9:00am to St. Peter’s Church for a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
