Louise Tomas

Louise Tomas of Danbury died at her home on Saturday, December 4, 2004. She was the wife of the late Frank Tomas. Mrs. Tomas was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Bernard and Micheline Wolyniec. She earned an A.S. degree in Liberal Arts from N.Y.U. and worked as an accountant for the New York Telephone Company. She moved to Danbury in 1989.
Mrs. Tomas is survived by her daughter Dr. Lorraine Braza and husband, Dr. Frank; a son, Joseph and wife Amy; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Holy Cross R.C. Church in Maspeth, NY.

Dorothy M. Carr
January 02, 1910 - December 08, 2004
Dorothy “Dee” M. Carr, 94, formerly of South Yarmouth, MA., wife of the late Franklin Carr, died at Ashlar of Newtown on Wednesday, December 8th. She was born in Reading, MA on January 2, 1910, daughter of the late James R. Mercer and Agnes (Bartlett) Hodson.
Mrs. Carr was an executive secretary for E.F. Hutton in Hyannis, MA. She had also worked in administration at Middlesex School in Concord, MA.
An avid antique collector, she later owned and operated an antique shop in Reading, MA.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, David Carr and his wife, Barbara of Summerfield, Fla., and Robert Carr of Medfield, Mass.; her daughter, Deborah Gardiner and her husband, Guy of Danbury; her four grandchildren, Pamela Mickewich and her husband Robert, David Carr and his wife, Julie, Richard Carr and his wife, Susan, and Christopher Carr. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Bruce F. Gardiner.
Funeral Information
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of family.

Richard "Dick" J. Disbrow
July 14, 1933 - December 10, 2004
Richard “Dick” J. Disbrow, Sr., 71, of Thaddeus Avenue, Danbury, formerly of Brookfield, and Rye, NY., devoted husband of Elizabeth (Dockery) Disbrow, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, December 10th. He was born in Salem, MA. on July 14, 1933, son of the late William and Jean (Field) Disbrow.
He was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains. He received his Bachelors Degree from Memphis State University. He began his career with Consolidated Edison of NY in 1959 as a management trainee and retired as Facilities Manager after 34 years of service.
An avid and gifted football player, Dick made the All County Honors Team in high school, and played for both University of Tennessee and Memphis State. Additionally, during his service in the United States Army he was Captain of the All European Team.
Dick enjoyed being a member of the Auxiliary Police and was an Officer of the ArmaVilla Association in Bronxville, NY. He was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, Candlewood Council in Brookfield. He was a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church where he served on the Parish Council and acted as an usher. He was also instrumental in enacting legislation eliminating outdoor firing ranges in residential Brookfield. He was a 25 year friend of Bill W’s.
Most importantly, he will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. He was often known to champion the “underdog” and was a man whose passion was to advocate for the many causes he believed in. Most notably, educating the youth about the dangers and health risks of smoking in conjunction with the Better Breathers Program at Danbury Hospital. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by three daughters, Sharon Chapderlane and her husband, Bob of Rye, NY., Mary Elizabeth Lancaster and her husband, David of Dover, NH., Catherine Courson and her husband Tommie of Jacksonville, Fla.; his two sons, Richard Disbrow and his wife, Nancy of Brookfield, and William Disbrow and his wife, Christine of Wingdale, NY.; and his ten grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David Disbrow and his wife, Donna of CA.; his cousins, “911 George” Fitzsimmons of Brookfield, and Ralph Burkhart of Harrison, NY and David Burkhart of Upstate, NY.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his son-in-law, Lt. Stephen Brown, USN.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 13th, 10:30am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends on Sunday between the hours of 12:00 to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. The Knights of Columbus will stand guard between 5 and 8:00pm with a Closing Prayer Service at 8:00.

Marion E. Johnson
September 13, 1933 - December 10, 2004
Marion E. Johnson age 71 of Brookfield devoted wife of Arthur “Frank” Johnson died unexpectedly on December 10, 2004 at Danbury Hospital. She left this world silently surrounded by her husband and loving family. Marion was born on September 13, 1933 daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Rosen) Joyce in Yonkers, New York.
During her earlier years Mrs. Johnson attended the High School of Commerce in Yonkers and graduated the class of 1951. She later married Frank and they were recently able to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Marion has worked for the past 33 years for the town of Brookfield at the Brookfield Town Hall.
Marion is remembered most for being a wonderful Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She took great pride in her grandchildren and they brought here much joy. In her spare time Marion loved going to the casinos and was an avid New York Yankees Fan. She was known for having a great love and pride of the community of Brookfield.
Besides her loving husband Arthur “Frank” Johnson she will be sadly missed by her son: Arthur F. Johnson Jr. and his wife Christine of Newtown and her daughter Sheryl Johnson and her companion Mark Sternburg, of Brookfield. Two Brothers: George Joyce of Patterson, NY and John and his wife Barbara Joyce of Fishkill, NY. Three beloved grandchildren: Lauren, Taylor, and Spencer Johnson all of Newtown

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT on Tuesday from the hours of 2:00PM – 4:00PM & 7:00PM & 9:00PM. Entombment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum.

Zoel Thadde Pellerin
January 08, 1903 - December 12, 2004
Zoel Thadde Pellerin, formerly of Germantown Road, Danbury died on December 12, 2004 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, just three weeks prior to his 102nd birthday. Mr. Pellerin was born on January 8, 1903 in Canada son of the late Thadde and Emilie (Cormier) Pellerin.
In 1922 Zoel came to United States living in Massachusetts and later Hartford before settling in the Danbury area in 1929. He later married Diana Godbout and they spent many years of loving marriage together.
Mr. Pellerin worked most of his life as a Barber owning his own shop in the Bethel area for 20 years before retiring and continued to work part-time until the age of 66.
Mr. Pellerin was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury and also of the Barber’s Union for 45 years.
Zoel will be sadly missed by his three daughters: Rita Veilleux of Biddeford, ME, Doris Reed Burdo and her husband Frank of Shelton, and Lucille McNease of Newtown, 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Zoel is preceded in death by one Great Grandchild, Gabrielle Veilleux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:45 at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Louis J. Cyr
November 11, 1928 - December 14, 2004
Louis “Lou” J. Cyr, Sr., of Great Plain Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Lillian (Holmes) Cyr, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, December 14th. He was born in Pound Ridge, NY., son of the late Jude and Helen (Fortin) Cyr. He was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1946.
Lou was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Air force. He was the manager of Finest Grocery Store in Bethel for 25 years prior to owning and operating his own store, Lil & Lou’s, with his wife, in Brewster, NY. He retired in 1990 as Store Manager of Stop-n-Shop in Westport.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Danbury, enjoyed membership in the American Legion and the Elks Lodge, both in Danbury. He was also a member of AARP 1847. He enjoyed coaching baseball, bowling, and fishing, but was happiest when spending time with his family.
In addition to his cherished wife of 56 years, Lillian, he is survived by his two sons, Louis, Jr. and his wife, Roxann, Leon and his wife, Lisa, all of Florida; his two daughters, Linda Espitee and her husband, Wayne of New Fairfield, and Lu-Anne Rigling and her husband, Rick of Danbury; his seven grandchildren, Chet and Wendy Hrostek, Coby Cyr, Phillip, Danielle, and Cody Cyr, Guy Cascella, and Sierra Rigling; and one great granddaughter, Emily Hrostek. He is also survived by four brothers, Patrick, Clarence, Lawrence, and Richard Cyr; and his sister, Carolyn Cassavechia.

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, December 17th at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Laura Westby Of the First Congregational Church of Danbury officiating. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning between the hours of 10 and 12 Noon.

Julia B. Ward
February 17, 1929 - December 15, 2004
Julia B. Albritton Ward was born February 17, 1929 in Bethel, NC to the late Annie B. Albritton and Hugh Pitt. On December 15, 2004, God relieved her of her pain and suffering and took her home to rest.
Julia attended public school in Parmelee NC and after leaving school married and moved to Danbury.
Julia was a very good, kind, gracious, generous, loving person, one who cared deeply and loved dearly all of her relatives and friends. We will miss her warmth and loving ways. She touched whomever she came in contact with.
She united in Holy matrimony to Merlin Lee Ward January 14, 1953, of Bethel NC. Merlin later preceded her in death. From this union 4 sons were born, of which 2 are deceased Norris Wesley Ward and Thomas Cecil Ward. This leaves to cherish very fond and loving memories 2 sons, Calvin Earl Ward, Danbury Ct. and Merlin Rodney Ward(Dawn) of Bethel Ct. 2 daughters, Tara Jackson Coleman of Waterbury, Ct and Tiffany Jackson of Waterbury. Deceased siblings, Sherman Albritton, Gloristene Best, William C. Albritton, Franklin Albritton, Gene Albritton, James E. Albritton, all preceded her in death. Surviving siblings, Raymond Albritton (Perry) of Rocky Mount, NC and Ida Ruth Briggs(John) of Durham, NC, 9 other grand children, Jacqueline Ward, Calvin E. Ward, Jr., Taniqua Scott, Janiqua Scott, Terrick McCall, Passion Ward, Vanessa Bennett, Davonna Cruse and Shyreese Cruse, and a very dear friend Phyllis Braden, in addition she leaves also sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, neices, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held at the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, 69 Rowan Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, December 21st at 11:00am. The Rev. Mark J. Roderick, Sr. will officiate. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow
The family will receive friends at the AME Zion Church on Tuesday morning, between the hours of 10:00am and 11:00am.

Frank H. Sirrine
July 10, 1911 - March 29, 2005
Frank H. Sirrine, of Ives Manor, Danbury, husband of the late Carmella (Cappellano) Sirrine, died at New Milford Hospital on Tuesday, March 29th. He was born in Danbury on July 10, 1911, son of the late Harold G. and Lida Sirrine.
Mr. Sirrine worked as a hatter at various hat companies in the area. In his later years he worked at Messenger Bicycle in Bethel.
He was a lifelong “Danburian.”
He is survived by his three sons, Michael Poodiack of Pompano Beach, Fla., Robert Poodiack of New Fairfield, and James Poodiack of Clinton, VA; his six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 12:30pm with Rev. David Reinhardt officiating. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 12:30pm.
