Leslie R. "Les" Neal
Leslie R. "Les" Neal, age 62 of Woodbury, died Wednesday December 21, 2005, at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Diana (Coddington) Neal.
Mr. Neal was born August 30, 1943 in Waterbury, the son of the late Harris G. Neal Sr. and Gertrude Ann (Bragg) Neal.
He was a graduate of Woodbury High school and then joined the Air Force serving a four year tour of duty during the Vietnam era.
Upon returning home he continued to express his patriotism by joining the American Legion Post #155. In 1971, he began working with Connecticut Light & Power until retiring in 2005 as a line chief of high-tension lines.
He was a longtime member of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department retiring as a lieutenant of the Hotchkissville Fire Company.
He became a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masonry in 1985.
He served as Worshipful Master of King Solomon's Lodge #7 in 1992, 1999, and 2000. He went on to serve further in the Second Masonic District as Associate-Grand Marshall and most recently as District Grand Lecturer.
He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was an active member of North Congregational Church of Woodbury, where he was a deacon.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his herd of beef cows which he grazed along Route 6.
He was well known around town to have a loving heart and was known for his many acts of charity and kindness.
Besides his wife is survived by two sons, Christopher Neal of San Francisco, CA and Benjamin Neal of Oxford; three daughters, Lesley Ann Lewis of Broadalbin, N.Y., Rebecca Bell of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Neal of Woodbury; and his stepson, Steve Walker of Thomaston; as well as a brother, Harris G. Neal Jr. "Bud" of Woodbury; a sister, Nancylou Schulze of Danbury; as well as several nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2005, 11 a.m. at North Congregational Church 11 Main St. North Woodbury.
Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday from 5-8 p.m. with a Masonic Service scheduled for 8 p.m. at the church.
Burial with military honors will be held at New North Cemetery in the spring of 2006.
The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert C. Spicer
Robert C. Spicer, age 81, of Soundview Drive, Easton, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton.
He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Davis Spicer.
Mr. Spicer was born in Morristown, N.J., on April 10, 1924, son of the late Robert B. and Clara Eustice Spicer, and lived in Easton for nearly 35 years.
He served his country with the U.S. Air Force, and went to work for Consolidated Controls Corp. in Bethel, where he stayed for over 40 years. Mr. Spicer retired from Consolidated Controls in 1989, after serving as vice president for the previous 15 years.
He was a longtime member of the Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church and was very active with the Southwest District of the Methodist Church.
He also served until recently on the board of the United Methodist Homes, and was a member of the Easton Senior Center.
He is the beloved father of Paul Spicer and his wife Sharon of Shelton, and Barbara Matthies and her husband Richard of Milford. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Lauren and Jennifer Spicer, and Lindsey and Michelle Matthies.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
His funeral procession will leave the Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. for a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Shelton United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.

Richard M. Platt Sr.
Richard M. Platt Sr., 80, of Garnet Road, died Dec. 29, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Southbury, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Riefel) Platt.
Mr. Platt was a successful dairy farmer in the 1950's who was awarded the Greener Pastures trophy by Gov. Lodge. He was also the founder of Platt's Rustic Fences in New Milford where he worked until his death.
Besides his long time companion Grace Meddaugh of Roxbury and Ariz., he is survived by three sons: Richard M. Platt Jr. of Southbury; Lawrence J. Platt of Southbury; Allan E. Platt of Eastford; two brothers: Willis Platt and Joseph Platt, both of Southbury; a sister, Lois Hodges of Roxbury; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A son Ralph L. Platt, three brothers: Edward Platt Sr., John Platt Sr. and Leroy Platt and a sister Betty Ognan are deceased.
At the request of Mr. Platt, there will be no funeral services.
The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson Lovetere, 235 Main St. North Route 6 is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond L. Chappuis
Raymond L. Chappuis, 48, of Geiger Road, New Milford, died Dec. 28, 2005, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Chappuis was born in New Milford, March 28, 1957, son of Barbara Adams Chappuis of New Milford and the late Alan Roy Chappuis.
Mr. Chappuis owned and operated his own contracting business CESD, Inc. of New Milford.
He was a former member of the New Milford Town Council, former chairmen of the New Milford Park and Recreation Dept., former New Milford assistant fire Marshall. He was a member and former chief of the Northville Fire Dept. He was the former president of the New Milford Bulls Pop Warner football league and its head coach for many years. He played flag football for many years in the New Milford Park and Recreation Dept. league.
Mr. Chappuis was a member of the Lake Waramaug Country club. He was a certified licensed pilot and an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
In addition to his mother, Barbara Chappuis of New Milford, he is survived by two sons: Alan Anthony Chappuis and Andre Anthony Chappuis, both of New Milford; a sister, Sharon A. Chappuis of New Milford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in New Milford. Burial will follow at the Northville Cemetery in New Milford. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St. in New Milford.

Linda M. Michael
Linda M. Michael, 89, devoted mother and grandmother, long time resident of Danbury, died Dec. 27, 2005, at JFK Memorial Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla.
Linda was born in Lawrence, Mass., Jan. 18, 1916, daughter of John and Salimi (Cura) Khoury. She moved to Danbury in 1932, upon her marriage to George M. Michael, who predeceased her in 1952. Her parents and a brother Joseph A. Khoury also predeceased her.
Mrs. Michael was a retired inspector of precision bearings with the Barden Corporation of Danbury as well as a member of St. Anthony's Maronite Church of Danbury and a member and a past president of its Ladies Guild.
Three sons: Eugene of Fairfield; Kenneth of Lake Worth, Fla.; and Robert and his wife Adriana of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; a brother George J. Khoury of North Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren: David of Fairfax, Va.; Douglas of Bar Harbor, Maine, Gregory of Fairfield; Melissa Amooi of San Jose, Calif.; and Megan Block of Chandler, Ariz.; and seven great grandchildren: Andrea, Gabriel, Zachary, Isabella, Ellie, Jake and Cory and nieces and nephews survive her.
A Concelebrated Solemn Pontifical Maronite Liturgy of the Resurrection will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury, celebrated by the Most Rev. Gregory J. Mansour, Bishop of the Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn, Mrs. Michael's son, the Rev. Msgr. Kenneth A. Michael and the Rev. Larry Jensen, pastor of St. Anthony's Maronite Church, Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Prayer of Incense will be offered in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

James B. Scudder, Jr.
James Bailey Scudder, Jr., of Tanglewood Court, Ridgefield, passed away Dec. 27, 2005, after a long illness. He was 76 years old and had resided in Ridgefield for 38 years.
Born May 18, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of James B. and Margaret (Kirby) Scudder, Sr. He graduated from Westfield (NJ) High School in 1948 and the Feagin School of Dramatic Arts in New York City in 1950. He served in the United States Army Artillery during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Scudder founded Machine Drives & Controls, Inc. of Norwalk and Hartford in 1967, and served as its president until his retirement in 1999. He was a longtime member of the Silver Spring Country Club, and served on the Founders Advisory Board of the Wilton Bank.
He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Mary C. Scudder, in 1990 and is survived by his four children: James B. Scudder III of Melrose, Fla.; Jeffrey C. Scudder of Ridgefield; Captain Richard P. Scudder, USN, of Alexandria, Va.; Susan E. Morgus of Butler, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion of many years, Mrs. Hope H. Swenson of Ridgefield.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Mr. Scudder's memory, be made to the charity of one's choice.

Barbara Ann Lewis
Barbara Ann Lewis, 71, of Hendersonville, N.C., died Dec. 28, 2005, after a brief illness.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Elsie Douglas and wife of the late Roy Gilbert Lewis, who died in 1978.
A former resident of Brookfield for over 30 years, she was actively involved with senior citizens and town government for over 10 years. She was a member of Brookfield Commission of Aging, past chairman and treasurer of the Brookfield Senior Citizen Council, and a weekly volunteer for the Brookfield Senior Center. She was a member of the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee and past president of the Candlewood Company Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered time to the Brookfield Social Services.
She had the opportunity to meet the former Connecticut Governor, Ella Grosso, the first woman governor in the U.S., as well as Jody Rell, the second woman governor and current governor of the state of Connecticut. She was a proud bookkeeper for nearly 50 years, and bookkeeper for Providence Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
She is survived by her sons: Craig Lewis of Danbury; and Brian Lewis of New Milford; one grandson, Brian Lewis, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at the Clubhouse of Riverwind Retirement Community.

Ruby Moffett
Ruby Moffett, age 85, of Newtown, formerly of Danbury, died Saturday, at Danbury Hospital.
On April 17, 1920, life began for Ruby Lee (Shepherd) Moffett in Douglas, Ga., a beloved daughter of the late Alfred Shepherd and Pennie (Grady) Shepherd.
In 1942, Ruby married Lonnie Moffett and to this union, three children were born: Elonza (Scooter) Moffett whom preceded her in their home-going; Billy Moffett and a daughter Diane (Moffett) Ross.
Ruby accepted Christ at a young age and was a member at the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church in Danbury. Ruby's special gift was to help others, which led her to employment at Altnacraig Nursing Home in Ridgefield, where she was a nurse's aid for 35 years.
Ruby leaves to celebrate her home-going, a devoted husband, Lonnie Moffett and son Billy Moffett, both of New Milford; a daughter, Diane Ross of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters-in-law; Vernese Moffett of Hampton, Va., Kimberly Moffett of New Milford; and a son-in-law, Leroy Ross of Columbia, S.C.; two grandsons: Shawn Moffett and Aaron Edmonds, six granddaughters: Angela Moffett, Erika (Moffett) Brown, Jennifer (Moffett) O'Connell, Dana Moffett, Michelle Huggins and Lonnidra Sanders; six great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, two sisters-in-law: Lydia Moffett of Broxton, Ga., and Eva Mae Moffett of Milwaukee; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Waiting to greet Ruby at heaven's gate are her parents, her son, Elonza Moffett; sister, Ludella Smith; and brother Willie Shepherd. Ruby departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 7, 2006 and is now with the Lord.
The funeral service will be held at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, Rowan St., Danbury, Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, CT, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Robert H. McKague
Robert H. McKague, 64, died Dec. 30, 2005 in Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va. after a courageously hard-fought two-month battle with leukemia.
He was the husband of Barbara (Lee) McKague of Brookfield.
He was born Nov. 10, 1941 in Murray, Utah, son of the late Ruth (Wyman) and Robert Earl McKague.
He was employed by the United States Department of State in Washington, D.C. During his many years of employment he traveled extensively to many foreign countries. A memorial service was held in Virginia Saturday, Jan. 7, in his honor.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962.
Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by two sons: Glenn McKague and wife Melinda (Jacobson) of Danbury, Michael McKague and wife Michele (Falce) of New Fairfield; two brothers: Glen McKague of California and Richard Arno of Montana. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation took place Jan. 5, 2005, in Chantilly, Va.
A memorial service will be held at Danbury United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.
