Andrew D. Moore
Andrew D. Moore, 81, of Bethel, formerly of Ridgefield, husband of the late Marguerite (Venus) Moore, died on Thursday morning, February 3, 2005 at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center, New Milford.
Mr. Moore was born in Redding, November 15, 1923, a son of George and Margaret Moore. He attended local and trade schools.
A lifelong area resident, he retired from Gilbert & Bennett Wire Mill of Georgetown after 47 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion Post of Ridgefield and the Steel Workers Union of America.
A son, John D. Moore of Bethel; two daughters, Andra M. Managan of New Milford and Christine Bartelme of Interlaken, FL; a brother, Arthur Moore of Redding; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.
Six brothers predeceased Mr. Moore.
Funeral services and burial will take place on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
There will be no calling hours.

Beatrice Escott
Beatrice Escott (nie Cohn) of Century Village, West Palm Beach, FL, died peacefully at her home on March 5, 2005.
Born May 7, 1915, Bea was a longtime resident of Stamford, relocating to Florida in 1980. She was a teacher in the Stamford School system for thirty-four years.
Predeceased by her husband Dr. Bernard Escott in 1989, she is survived by two sons David of West Palm Beach, FL, and Donald of Danbury three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her special friend in her later years Mr. Murray Keller died in 2004.
Bea was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and loved to go sailing. She kept busy doing arts and crafts of all kinds, completing crossword puzzles, and loved to attend the weekly dances held in Century Village. Bea was a member of Temple Beth-El and the Stamford chapter of Hadassah, and was an active member of the United Order of True Sisters in West Palm Beach.
Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the Independent Lodge Cemetery in Darien. All arrangements are being handled by Gallagher Funeral Home in Stamford. There will be no calling hours.
Gerardo "Jerry" Sanchez
Gerardo "Jerry" Sanchez, 71, of Heatherwood Drive, Brookfield, devoted husband of Ann Marie (Dascano) Sanchez, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, March 6th after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in La Coruna, Spain on January 26, 1934, son of the late Antonio Sanchez Carro and Emilia Gomez Barbeito. He made his home in the United States for fifty years.
Jerry was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during peacetime. He was a self-employed Land Developer and Importer-Exporter of goods to Spain. He was responsible for the development of Brush Hill Estates and Raquel Drive in Danbury.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church and was very involved in church activities.
He enjoyed being involved in civic activities such as the School Board Committee and the Board of Directors for Community Action.
He was a founder and past president of the Hispanic Cultural Society; served on the Governor's Task Force on Housing in the 1970s; and was involved in various Republican Party Activities.
In addition to his wife of 35 years, Ann Marie, he is survived by five daughters, Raquel Alonso and her husband Oscar of La Coruna, Spain, Julia Sanchez of New York, NY, Maria Sanchez of Georgia, Anna Sanchez and Cathy Sanchez, both of Florida; his son, Nicky Sanchez of New Jersey; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Antonio Sanchez of New Jersey; his sister, Maria Francisca of Canada; as well as one niece and several nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jimetta Moffa and his son, Jerry Sanchez Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Cremation and interment in La Coruna, Spain, will be at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Dolloff
James Dolloff, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of California, died March 1, 2005 at the University Community Hospital in Tampa. He was 74. James was born March 18, 1930 in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late John and Frances (Gordon) Dolloff.
He worked as a security officer for Wells-Fargo in Burbank, CA and served in the US Army during Korea and was an artist.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean-Marie Haubert of Conshocken, PA; two sons and their wives, James and Cheryl Dolloff of Tampa, FL and Joseph and Clara Dolloff of Waterbury; 11 grandchildren, Lindsey and Lauren Dolloff, Garrett and Renee Haubert, Christopher, Veronica, George, Elizabeth Dolloff, Christopher Blue and Christina Lilley; three sisters, Grace Struhs of New Fairfield, Dorothy Russell of Apple Valley, GA, Eleanor Ramroth of Lake Isabella, CA. He was predeceased by one brother, John Dolloff. He was also survived by four nieces.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10:30 at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Interment to follow Mountainview Cemetery.
Janet (Bell) Sheppard
Janet (Bell) Sheppard, 89, of Park Lawn Drive, Bethel, wife of the late Harold Sheppard, died Sunday, March 6th at Bethel Health Care in Bethel. born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Edith (Whedon) Bell.
Mrs. Sheppard had lived in New Milford, moving to Bethel a year ago. She had played the organ and managed choirs in the churches she was involved with, and was also a pianist. She was a member of the Hilltop Covenant Church, Cromwell.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph S. Coatsworth of Scottsdale, AZ, was a former Middletown area state lawmaker for ten years in the Connecticut House of Representatives, is now Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers in Phoenix, John H. Coatsworth of Cambridge, MA is a professor of economic history and Director of the Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University, and James Coatsworth of Brookfield is an official with the Connecticut State Dept. of Labor in Danbury; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Katherine Russell, Frances Hooghkirk, and Edith Duffey.
Funeral services will be held at the Hilltop Covenant Church, 82 Hicksville Road, Cromwell, Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Timothy Stohlberg, pastor, will officiate and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Joseph C. O'Reilly
Joseph C. O'Reilly, 81, of Milford, formerly of Danbury and Brookfield, died on Sunday evening, March 6, 2005 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield.
He was the husband of Mary (Najam) Plue O'Reilly.
Mr. O'Reilly was born in New York, NY to Cornelius and Antoinette (Mach) O'Reilly and attended New York schools.
A U.S. veteran, Mr. O'Reilly served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. O'Reilly was a passenger train conductor for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford line which then became Penn Central and later Metro North. He retired in 1980.
An area resident since 1968 coming from New York, NY, he was a member of A.A.R.P., the Concordia Society and the Elks Lodge, all of Danbury.
In addition to his wife Mary, his children, Raymond Plue, Edward Zack Plue, Valerie Eriquezzo, Dee Lohnes and Terry Flue, a niece, three nephews, ten grandchildren and a great-granddaughter survive him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Joseph Makowski
Joseph J. Makowski, age 81, formerly of Brookfield, died at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, Ridgefield on Monday March 7th. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Maynard) Makowski.
He was born in Highland, PA December 1, 1923, son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Blonski) Makowski.
He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
He came to Danbury in 1951 and had been a area resident ever since.
He was a retired employee of Barden Corp., retiring in 1988 after over 37 years of service.
He was a Member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Association of Manufacturing Engineers and also past president of that organization.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Yakacki of Danbury and a brother, John Makowski of Jacksonville, FL, and several nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 10:30 to the time of the service.

Laura da Conceicao Tomaz Amaral
Laura da Conceicao Tomaz Amaral, 85, of 115 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, beloved wife of Liberto Coelho Amaral, died peacefully at her home on Monday, March 7, 2005.
She was born in Ribamondego, Portugal on October 1, 1919, daughter of the late Adolfo and Maria Delfina Monteiro Coelho. She attended schools in Portugal and had come to the United States, where she had lived in Danbury for twenty-five years and worked for many years at the former American Radionics Company. After retirement she returned to Portugal with her husband, where they had lived for the last twenty years and recently returned to live in Bethel with her daughter.
Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Teresa dos Santos and husband Joseph, of Bethel and Delfina Batista and husband Luis, of New Milford; as well as five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother, Aurelio Coelho.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Luise H. Arend
Mrs. Luise (Haus) Arend, 82, of Watertown, died Sunday March 6, 2005 at the Waterbury Extended Care in Watertown. She was the widow of Alfred Arend.
Mrs. Arend was born in Germany, January 10, 1923, a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Orb) Haus and was a graduate of the University of Freiburg. Following her graduation, she attended the university as a medical student. She came to this country in 1951 first settling in Danbury, where she worked as a medical assistant in the nursery at Danbury Hospital for many years. She was a former resident of Heritage Village in Southbury, moving to Watertown in 1989.
She leaves one son, Rolf L. Arend of Hendersonville, Nev.; one daughter, Ingrid A. Erickson of Watertown; two brothers, Emil Haus of Henderson, N.C. and Sigesmund Haus of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and 4 grandchildren.
Arrangements: Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., is in charge of arrangements.
Peter John O'Leary Jr.
Peter John O'Leary Jr., 74, Copper Hill Road, West Suffield, formerly of Litchfield, died Friday, March 4th at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was the husband of A. Patricia (Losty) O'Leary.
Mr. O'Leary was born Jan. 28, 1930 in Hartford, son of the late Peter J. and Frances (Burns) O'Leary. Raised in Hartford, he was a Korean War, US Army veteran. He had a long and successful career in the insurance industry, starting with the John Hancock company and culminating with the PJ. O'Leary Insurance Agency.
Following his retirement he worked in auto sales. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. His greatest joy was time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of W. Suffield, he is survived by four sons, Peter J. III and wife Julia of W. Suffield, John and wife Allison of Litchfield, David and wife Linda of Brookfield and Danny and wife Melanie of Litchfield; three daughters, Tricia and husband Craig Sherwin of Torrington, Susan O'Leary and husband Tim Sofia of Falls Village and Kathy Betts of Suffield; a sister, Annlouise and husband John Arigno of Coventry; sister-in-law, Elizabeth O'Leary of Illinois; brother-in-law, Tom and wife Mary Losty of Enfield and 15 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 9th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Litchfield. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
