Pauline Maximo
Pauline Morse Maximo, age 72, of Barnum Road, Danbury, died Friday at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Tony E. Maximo.
Mrs. Maximo was born in Sharon, August 11, 1931 and was a Danbury resident most of her life. She worked for Davis & Geck and then Boehringer Ingelheim until her retirement in 1996.
She was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene and currently attended the Baptist Church of Danbury.
In her youth, she was a member of the 4-H, later was very active in Girl Scouts and she volunteered for many years at Pembroke Elementary School. Pauline spent many hours with her family and friends boating on Candlewood Lake.
Besides her husband of 53 years, she is survived by a daughter: Vicki Lee Maximo-Stankowitz and her husband Edward of Columbia Falls, ME; 2 brothers: Rev. Dr. Vernon C. Morse of New Philadelphia, OH, William F. Morse of Danbury; 1 sister: Thelma A. Romaine of Danbury; 4 grandchildren: Shannon White, Morgan White, Reeanna Bridges, Bobbie Lloyd; 2 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her dog Sarah.

The funeral service will be held at the Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Ave., Danbury, Wednesday morning at 11:00. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.

Joseph Benni
In this city July 1, 2004 Joseph Benni, 80, of West Haven, son of the late Camillo and Annette Carboni Benni.
Predeceased by his brother Walter Benni, Uncle of Donna Caneschi and Walter Benni and 3 great nieces. He was a member of the West Haven Elks & the Sententrionnale Club. He was employed as a cabinetmaker for 45 years for Fischer Scientific.
The hours for visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Robert C. Morris Sr.
Robert C. Morris Sr., age 83, of Newtown, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, took his final voyage June 30, 2004 surrounded by family.
In 1941 Bob eagerly answered his country's call, entering the Navy to serve on Landing Ship Tank (LST) 311 in World War II. A proud member of LST 311's valiant crew, he saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, and the D-Day Landing on Omaha Beach. The ship earned four battle stars in all. When his active service ended in 1944, Bob continued in the Navy reserves until 1950 then returned to active service on LSTs for Korea. In total he earned two honorable discharges rising to Engineman First Class. Like his faith, Bob's love of country and the Navy ran deep. He was a member of the National LST Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and a National Navy Memorial Plank Holder. Bob was plant engineer for Reliable Plating and Polishing Company for over 30 years, culminating with selection as President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Electro-Plater's Association.
Bob's tireless devotion to family was matched only by his giving to the community. He volunteered to Saint James Church Holy Name Society in Stratford serving as President and achieved the Knights of Columbus third degree. After moving to Newtown, he joined the Saint Rose Holy Name Society where he's remained a dedicated patron for over 30 years. When his children's interest turned to theater, Bob became personally involved as a volunteer and member of the Polka Dot Playhouse.
For Bob, family always came first. They will always remember his warmth, love, and continual guiding presence. His nurses at Yale New Haven Hospital will remember his appreciation for their work, genuine interest in their families, and one who, even as he was rushed to surgery, gathered their names so he could properly thank them, then ensured they were all Mets fans. To his friends at St. Anthony's Church Bob always spoke of obtaining funds to install an elevator for the elderly and handicapped parishioners. To his daughter and others at the Bridal Shows for Barbara Lee's Boutique, he was "Dad". To a myriad of relatives he was "Uncle Bob", always with a kind word and helping hand. To his grandchildren he was "Pop-Pop", the gentlest soul God gave this earth. To his son Bob, Jr. he is the inspiration of life.
Bob is survived by wife Lillian (Wrabel) Morris, the love of his life for 58 years, as well as by daughter; Barbara Lee Morris; son, Colonel Robert Morris (USA), daughter-in-law Kim (Etzler) Morris. His two grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth and Robert John, will always hold him in their hearts.
Funeral Services will be with Full Military Honors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., in Saint Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown. Family and friends may call to celebrate Bob's life at the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, in Monroe on Monday, July 5th from 4:008:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested donations to the Saint Anthony's Church elevator fund, P.O. Angela (Leonard) Sabatinello
Angela (Leonard) Sabatinello, 92, of Newtown, widow of William J. Sabatinello, died peacefully at home Wednesday evening, June 30, 2004.
She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late James Leonard and Theresa (Gianetti) Leonard. She lived in Hartford and Wethersfield most of her life, moving to Newtown four years ago to live with her daughter, Terri-Ann and son-in-law, John Martocci. She was a very devout Catholic and a member of the Immaculate Conception Rosary Society.
In addition to her loving daughter and son-in-law, she leaves behind three dedicated grandchildren, Matthew Martocci and his fiancie Lisa Cicchetti of Rocky Hill, Amy Martocci of Newtown and Keri Ellen Martocci of Stamford.
She will be greatly missed by her brother, Frank Leonard and his wife Babs of Wethersfield and her loving nephews and their wives, Jim and Nancy Leonard of Wethersfield, Frank and Kathy Leonard of Richmond, VA and her niece, Gracemary Faenza of Wethersfield.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald, his wife, Kay and his son, James.
Angela's family would like to thank the Hospice of Western CT and Priority Care for the wonderful home care she received.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 6, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. from the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook St., Rocky Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Rocky Hill. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Catherine McGuinness
Catherine McGuinness died peacefully on July 1, 2004 at home surrounded by her husband of forty-five years, Hugh, her five surviving children, six grandchildren and four of her eight siblings.
Catherine was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1930, daughter of Mary B. and John Gray of Brooklyn, NY and, earlier, Counties Donegal and Leitrim, Ireland.
Catherine began her professional career with Bell Telephone as a Communications Director. It was in her beloved hometown of Brooklyn that she met and married Hugh McGuinness of the Killybegs, Donegal McGuinness clan. Catherine and Hugh welcomed six children into their family: Cathy, Patrick, Susan (Getzinger), Maura (Gallagher), Kerry and John. While raising her family, Catherine was so acclaimed for her culinary skills that patrons were known to have specifically requested "Aunt Caddy's Rainbow Cookies" at a Paris bistro. Catherine then began a decade-long association with New Milford Hospital working in the dietary department. Catherine and Hugh retired to Fairfield County to be closer to grandchildren (Michael, Kelly and Meagan Gallagher; Emilia Getzinger, Maeve Neville) and her siblings.
In addition to her immediate family, Catherine is survived by her six sisters, Peggy, Grace and Ronnie Gray, Pat Lane, Virginia McCafferty, Ann Santi and two brothers, Neil and Michael Gray as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Catherine will be remembered for her artistic skill, her tremendous capacity for compassion and her unwavering devotion to her family. She now joins her parents, son, brother Johnny and sister Marie where she can really keep an eye on the rest of us.
Friends may call at the Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah, NY on July 4th and July 5th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Katonah, NY on Tuesday, July 6 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.

Kyle A. Ballas
Kyle Anthony Ballas, age 17, of New Milford, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 in Washington, Conn.
Kyle was born April 19, 1987 in Danbury. Growing up in New Milford, he played football for the Bulls, Babe Ruth Baseball and basketball in town leagues. Kyle often returned to the summer sports field to give encouragement to the young players. He had just completed his sophomore year at Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury, studying Auto Body. Kyle was an avid sports fan, enjoyed music and playing video games. "A young man who was always there to help others and loved playing 'Big Brother' to the younger children around him," Kyle will be greatly missed.
Kyle is survived by his father: James A. Ballas of Wolcott and his wife Cindy; his mother: Billie Ballas of New Milford and her fianci Donald Tamascak; his sister: Melissa Ballas of New Milford and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford, Wednesday July 7, 2004 at a time to be announced.
The family will receive friends at the Colonial Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.
Francis J. Mikaitis, Jr.
Mr. Francis J. Mikaitis, Jr., age 60, of 160 Gorman Street, died July 17, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of June (Dehart) Mikaitis.
He retired after 32 years from Raytheon in Danbury.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 21st at 10 a.m., at the Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.
Burial will be in the Lithuanian Independent Cemetery, Waterbury.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m.
William E. Mennis
William E. Mennis, 77, of 640 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, formerly of Stamford, died on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Danbury Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Dolan) Mennis, who preceded him in death in September 2001.
Mr. Mennis was born in the Bronx, N.Y., September 13, 1926, a son of the late James and Evelyn (Dillon) Mennis.
Raised in Mt. Vernon, New York, he attended Mount St. Michael's in the Bronx and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Mennis was a retired merchandising manager for the former Mercantile Stores of New York, N.Y., a position he held from 1950 until his retirement in 1985.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past six years, coming from Stamford, he was a past member of St. Maurice Parish and a present member of St. Mary Parish of Ridgefield.
An avid N.Y. Yankee fan, Mr. Mennis enjoyed golfing and sports in general.
Three sons, Robert A. Mennis, of Southbury; James J. Mennis and his wife Patricia, of Watertown; and Peter F. Mennis and his wife Pamela, of Norwich, N.Y.; a brother, John Mennis and his wife Patricia, of Milford; two sisters: Sister Jane Mennis, O.S.U., of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and Sister Dorothy Mennis, r.c., of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Rachel Mennis, Benjamin Mennis and Timothy Mennis, and two nieces and one nephew: Claire, Gregory and Heather-lyn Mennis, survive him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield.
Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
Friends will be received in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ernest G. Fenn, Jr.
Ernest G. Fenn, Jr., age 93, retired plant maintenance supervisor at Fairfield Hills Hospital, Newtown, died Saturday July 17, 2004 in Hancock Hall, Danbury.
Mr. Fenn was born in Bristol on August 17, 1910, a son of the late Ernest G. and Leonora (Herold) Fenn.
He came to Newtown in December of 1931, as one of the first power plant and maintenance employees of the then new Fairfield State Hospital. He retired January 1, 1987 at age 76, after over 55 years of service; 46 years as plant maintenance supervisor.
Ernest was a past master of Hiram #18 Masonic Lodge and a life member of Pyramid Shrine Temple. He was a longtime member of the Newtown Water Pollution Control Authority.
Mr. Fenn is survived by a stepson, Thomas S. Anderson, Sr., of Newtown and a nephew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian F. Fenn, in 1966 and by his second wife, Mary K. Anderson Fenn, in 2001.
Private services and interment in St. Rose Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

Charles J. Krieg
Charles J. Krieg, age 86, of Danbury, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Anna (Chorny) Krieg.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., March 31, 1918, son of the late Charles and Margaret (Hayes) Krieg.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater.
He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk, retiring after numerous years of service.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Danbury and the American Legion Post #60.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Krieg, of Danbury; his sons: Michael Damian Krieg, of Breckenridge, Colorado; and Damian Charles Krieg, of Woodbury; a sister, Abigail Conte and a brother, Michael Roche, both of the Bronx, N.Y.; his beloved grandchildren: Rachel, Stephanie, Erik, Emily and Daniel, several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
