James W. Langridge,

a New Fairfield resident and former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at Harborside Glen Hill Health Care Center in Danbury. He was 82.

He died of congestive heart failure, according to his family.

Born Aug. 10, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late William Herman and Catherine Langridge.

Mr. Langridge served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was sales vice president of the family business, Woundy Auto Parts in Glenbrook.

In addition, he was a longtime member of the Veterans Foreign Wars Post 9617 of Springdale and an active member of the New Fairfield Senior Center. He also belonged to the Elks Club No. 899 in Stamford.

He is survived by a son, Royland Langridge of Brookfield; a daughter, Susan Anne Kramss of Guilford; a sister, Catherine Mangual of Rockville Center, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Woundy Langridge; and a son, James Woundy Langridge.

Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001 at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.

A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be private in Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Memorial Church, 58 Church St., Stamford, CT 06906 or to Harborside Glen Hill Health Care Center, 1 Glen Hill Road, Danbury, CT 06811.

Nora C. Hall,

a Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 92.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born March 12, 1908, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ellen Burns Linehan.

Mrs. Hill retired as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stamford. She was a member of the St. John Rosary Alter Society and the Third Order of St. Frances. She was also a member of Legions of Mary and AARP Member Chapter 546.

She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Linehan; and a nephew Joseph M. Linehan.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 at St. John's Church, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford.

Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk.

Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, handled the arrangements.

Palma A. Sullo

Palma A. Sullo, a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at Stamford Hospital. She was 83.

John Joseph Mahoney,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at Stamford Hospital. He was 69.

He died of cardiopulmonary arrest, according to his family.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2001 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, and travel to St. Bridget of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum in Greenwich.

Muriel Hill Padbury of Manchester,

a former resident of Stamford and Greenwich, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at home. She was 80.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Dec. 5, 1920, in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Emma Glazier Hill.

Mrs. Padbury was raised in Portland where she attended local schools. She graduated from Westbrook College in 1940. She lived in Stamford and Greenwich for 46 years before moving to Manchester 11 years ago.

She was a longtime member of the Old Greenwich Art Society and a volunteer at Stamford Hospital. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Manchester and the Auxiliary of Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, John Padbury of Manchester; a daughter, Nancy Fish of Manchester; and three granddaughters.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. The Rev. Henry C. Lubben will officiate.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at the funeral home.

Private committal services will be held in the spring at Cousins Island Cemetery in Yarmouth, Maine.

Memorial donations may be made to Manchester Memorial Hospital, 71 Haynes St., Manchester, CT 06040; or Yale Cancer Center, P.O. Box 208004, New Haven, CT 06520-2655.

Reginald C. Burroughs,

a Stamford resident, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at Stamford Hospital. He was 89.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born March 27, 1911, in Trenton, N.J., he was a son of the late Edmund and Ada Phillips Burroughs.

Mr. Burroughs was a graduate of Rutgers University and the New Jersey School of Law. He opened a private law practice where he worked until World War II.

He was a captain in the U.S. Army, serving in the infantry division in Europe from 1942 to 1946. He also served as an Army Reserve Judge Advocate.

After the war, he worked with Olin Corp. of New York City, Baltimore and Stamford before his retirement.

Mr. Burroughs was a member of the Fairfield County Boy Scouts Council and the New York, New Jersey and Maryland Bar Associations. He was a trustee and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford and chairman of the New Pipe Organ Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Elva L. Ruskie Burroughs of Stamford; a brother, Dr. Charles Burroughs of Trenton; a sister, Winifred Van Dike of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Edmund Burroughs and Paul Burroughs.

There are no calling hours.

All services are private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

David W. Brigante Sr.,

a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 42.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Dec. 23, 1958, in Norwalk, he was the son of Michael Brigante Jr. and Margaret Cloutier Brigante of Norwalk.

Mr. Brigante was a driver with D.A. Possidento Trucking Co and a disc jockey for Dave and Sheila's Rock and Roll Classics.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and the Emmaus Community of St. Matthew's Parish in Norwalk.

He was a member of Coachmen Rod and Custom Club.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sheila Cleary Brigante of Norwalk; a son, David W. Brigante Jr. of Norwalk; two daughters, Elizabeth Brigante and Michelle Brigante, both of Norwalk; a brother, Philip Brigante of Norwalk; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2001 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, CT 06855.

Margaret E. Dare

Margaret E. Dare of Bridgeport, a former Stamford resident, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at home. She was 93.

Ella R. Schaefer

Ella R. Schaefer, a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at the Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. She was 91.
