Judy B. Scheer
Kailua-Kona, HAWAII - Judy Beth Scheer, a longtime resident of Meriden, Conn., passed away Feb. 13, 1999, at the Kona Community Hospital, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, after a long struggle with cancer. Moving from Texas to Meriden in 1965, she was an elementary school teacher at the Franklin, Barry and Hooker schools, until her retirement in the early 1980's. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Meriden and active in the Auxiliary of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Carl Scheer, a radiologist formerly with Radiology Associates, Inc., in Meriden, and a son Mark Fenn Rategan, both now of Hawaii. She is also survived by her mother, three sisters and a brother, all of Texas .
A memorial service was held at the Kona United Methodist church, 74-4960 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740, on March 1. Memorial gifts may be sent to the church.
Linda J. Bennett
PLAINVILLE - Linda Jean Bennett, 49, of 190 Tomlinson Ave., formerly of 266 Thorpe Ave., Meriden, died Thursday, April 22, at New Britain General Hospital after being stricken at home.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ralph (Delores) Bennett of Meriden; her loving sister, Denise Petrosky, and brother-in-law, Richard Petrosky, of Meriden; a nephew and godchild, Jason Petrosky of Meriden; and a fiance, James Gaetano of Plainville. Linda was predeceased by her father, Ralph Bennett, in April of 1997. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born in Meriden, she attended St. Mary's School, a graduate of Maloney High School, class of 1967, and a graduate of Vinal Tech Nursing School of Middletown.
She was presently employed as a head nurse at the Atrium Health Care Center for many years in New Haven. Linda was a true dedicated nurse to her patients and staff working for her. She fought her heart out for them until the day she left this world.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. in the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Meriden. Frank Cammuso Jr.
SOUTHINGTON - Frank Cammuso Jr., infant son of Frank Sr. and Nicole (Alscorf) Cammuso of 21 Roseanna Road, Plantsville section, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1999.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Teresa Cammuso of Meriden, and his maternal grandparents, Vaughn and Joanne Hazzard of Wolcott.
A Mass of the Angels was celebrated Friday at St. Thomas Church. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery.
DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., was in charge of arrangements.
Richard F. Clements
MERIDEN - Richard F. Clements, age 49, of Meriden, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at MidState Medical Center, Meriden, after a long illness.
Born in Bridgeport on Oct. 20, 1949, he was a 1967 graduate of Warren Harding High School. He was employed as an instrument mechanic at Cytec Industries in Wallingford. His interests included his cats, football, gardening, German cooking and card games.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of Meriden; two daughters, Kirsten and her fiance, Scott Darmofalski, and Erika; both of Meriden; his mother, Ruth Johnson Clements of Galax, Va.; one brother, Bryan and his wife, Lori, of Franklin, Mass.; one nephew, Bradley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Ronald, and his brother, Leonard.
A memorial service will be held in the Bulmer Chapel of the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St., Stratford, on Sunday, April 25, 1999, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Stuart Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Memorial Fund of the Stratford United Methodist Church.
Josephine B. LaPorte
SOUTHINGTON - Josephine B. (Nardi) LaPorte, 72, passed from life to eternal life with her Lord on Thursday, April 22, 1999, at home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Southington, the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (D'Angelo) Nardi, and attended local schools.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Andrew C. LaPorte, and her adoring children, daughters and sons-in-law Rita and William Coffey of Avon, Kim and Edward Casner Jr. of Cheshire, son and daughter-in-law Richard and Lori LaPorte of Southington, son Michael LaPorte and his fiancée, Cathy, of Bristol; three beautiful granddaughters, Shallon LaPorte of Plantsville and Cassandra and Alyssa Casner of Cheshire, step-grandchildren, Daniel and Ryan Coffey of Colorado and Mikey Willett of Southington, her brother and sister-in-law, John and Palma Nardi of Southington, her sister, Jean Meola of Southington, her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and George Sakellarious of Avon, her sister-in-law, Letty Nardi, of Southington, her brother-in-law and his wife, Peter and Ann LaPorte of Bristol, sister-in-law and her husband, Viola and Joe DiMassa of Southington; and a myriad of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Nardi; and a nephew, Nicholas Romano. She worked with her husband at Supreme Lake Manufacturing in its infancy but she spent the majority of her life devoted to raising her family. She gave unselfishly to many charitable organizations and to anyone in need. Her warm smile, bright eyes, gentle spirit and kind nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The funeral will be held Monday 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, to St. Dominic Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Nellie A. Bennett
MERIDEN - Nellie A. (Rogoz) Bennett, 87, of 78 Marshall Road, wife of the late Philip K. Bennett, died on Monday, March 22, 1999, at MidState Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on Oct. 20, 1911, she was a lifelong resident of Meriden and had attended local schools. Mrs. Bennett was employed by Meriden Community Action Agency for over 20 years in the Elderly Nutrition Program, retiring in 1985, and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Philip J. and Bernadette M. Bennett of Plymouth, Mass, and Stephen P. Bennett of Meriden; two grandchildren, Sara Bennett of Brookline, Mass., and Susan Bennett of Colchester. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Crasa and Helen Lang both of Meriden, and a brother Joseph Rogoz of Meriden.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m.
Lawrence C. Meynell
SOUTHINGTON - Lawrence Calder Meynell, 91, formerly of Sullivan, Maine died March 19, 1999, at Ridgewood Health Care Facility. He was born in Sullivan, Maine on Nov. 17, 1908, the son of the late James Benjamin Francis and Alma (Bishop) Meynell.
Lawrence worked at Pratt & Whitney for 23 years. He will be remembered most for his easy going nature and the care he put into tending his beautiful gardens. Those traveling along West Street in Southington over the past 40 years may remember being treated to the lovely sight of his flowering gardens. If you were really lucky you may have even received a surprise bouquet from him!
He is survived by his beloved brother, Lewis Meynell of Southington; four nephews, three nieces, very special nieces, Ruth Vibert and Betty Hills and a special longtime caregiver, Kim Meynell. He was predeceased by a sister, Ester.
A celebration of Lawrence's life will be held in the spring in Maine, when the flowers are in bloom. There are no calling hours. The Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. has charge of arrangements.
Alduina Rosadini
MERIDEN - Alduina Susini Rosadini, 97, of 112 Milton Drive, Meriden, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at her daughter's home. She was the widow of Girolomo Rosadini.
Mrs. Rosadini was born in Castiglion Fiorentino, Province of Arrezzo, Italy on Jan. 30, 1902, and was the daughter of the late Mario and Assunta Susini. She had worked for the former Seamless Rubber Co. of New Haven.
She leaves daughters, Carmella R. Freeman with whom she had resided, Adele Pine of North Haven and Lucy Reitano of New Haven; sons, Guido and Mario Rosadini both of East Haven and the late Leo Rosadini. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildrenm, and is predeceased by two brothers, and three sisters in Italy.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church, North Haven at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. The visiting hours will be Wednesday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 p.m.
Frances Stoltmann
WATERTOWN - Frances (Hanlon) Stoltmann, 91, of Steele Brook Road, died Monday at Watertown Convalarium. She was the widow of George C. Stoltmann.
Mrs. Stoltmann was born in Meriden, Dec. 5, 1907, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Forrest) Hanlon. She was raised in Meriden and graduated for Meriden High School in 1927. She lived in Bridgeport for many years before moving to Watertown. She retired from Silver City Company and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She leaves one son, Albert Stoltmann of Bethany; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Corr of Watertown; one brother, William Hanlon of Meriden; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Lamb and Mrs. Helen Fischer both of Meriden; one grandson, Jeffrey Stoltmann and one great-grandson. She is predeceased by a grandson, Charles Corr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, to St. John the Evangelist Church for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Benjamin W. Benson
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Benjamin W. Benson, formerly of Meriden, Conn., died on March 4, 1999, in Arizona.
He was the husband of the late Adelaid (Gracey) Benson.
He is survived by his second wife, Cleon; a son, Benjamin, of Greenwich; two grandsons, Charles of Milwaukee, Wis., and Paul of Larchmont, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Margaret Mary of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Mac.
He will be buried in Meriden.
