Peter S. Alogna
WALLINGFORD - Peter S. Alogna, 67, of Old Colony Road, and of Mathis Drive, Marianna, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at his Wallingford residence. He was the husband of Martha G. Weldon Alogna.
Born in New Haven, April 26, 1931, he was a son of the late Leonard and Yvonne Butler Alogna and was a Wallingford resident for 20 years. He was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, taught industrial arts at Cheshire High School for several years, and had been employed by the state of Connecticut as a teacher at the Vinal Regional Vocational and Technical School in Middletown for 10 years until his retirement. He and his wife resided in Nova Scotia during the summer and in Marianna, Fla., during the winter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teri L. and John Crespo of Wallingford; a son, Tony D. Alogna of Meriden; a sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Lachlan Harkness of Southbury; two brothers, Leonard Alogna of Los Angeles, Calif., and Frederick Alogna of Middlefield; and several nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday in the Wallingford Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery

Frank G. Balassa
WALLINGFORD - Frank G. Balassa, 85, of Constitution Street, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Gwendolyn B. Humphries
WALLINGFORD - Gwendolyn "Gwen" Burton Humphries, 82, of Marc Drive, formerly of Ridgeland Circle, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at the Skyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Howard Humphries.
Born in Woodbury, Aug. 16, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Amy Dudley Burton and was a Wallingford resident for 46 years. She was a graduate of the former Larson Junior College in New Haven, was employed by the former Connecticut Light and Power Company, and was the editor of the Employee Magazine. She was a member of the Yalesville United Methodist Church in the Yalesville section of Wallingford.
She is survived by two daughters, Amy Humphries of Wallingford and Laurie Humphries of Madison; a son, Roger Humphries of Killingworth; and two grandchildren, Tara and Benjamin Humphries. She was predeceased by two brothers, Dudley Burton and Bennett Burton.
Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service, Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Yalesville United Methodist Church. Interment will be private in New Pine Grove Cemetery
in Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Yalesville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 8 New Place St., Yalesville, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.
Martha J. Anderson
WALLINGFORD - Martha Jane (Fulkerson) Anderson, 57, of 682 Williams Rd., wife of John W. Anderson, died Sunday morning, May 19, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Depoy, Ky. on July 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Luther and Jessie Ozzie Lee Phillips Fulkerson. She had resided in Wallingford for the past three years. Prior to that time, she had resided in Princeton, Ind., for over 20 years. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Meriden.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Maggie Anderson of Wallingford; two sons, David Anderson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Kreg Anderson of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Anna Kathryn Schnacke of Evansville, Ind., Nancy Sue Hill of Pensacola, Fla., and Glenda Faye Begeman of Owensville, Ind.; two brothers, Kenneth Ray Fulkerson of Hepzibah, Ga., And Henry Donald Fulkerson of Raytown, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee St., Meriden, with the Rev. Gary Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Depoy, Ky. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Monday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee St., Meriden, CT 06450.
Helen S. Dorsey
WALLINGFORD - Helen S. Mrozowski Dorsey, 80, of North Turnpike Rd., died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of Martin J. Dorsey.
Born in Wallingford, Sept. 9, 1915, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Marcinyk Mrozowski, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident. She had been employed by the International Silver Co., and later the Stanley-Judd Co., for many years until her retirement several years ago. She was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church and was a member of the Rosary Society.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances M. and Daniel F. Wagner of Green Bay, Wis., and Beverly A. and Walter S. Lewis of Orwell, Vt.; her seven grandchildren, Michael Wagner and Martin J. Wagner, both of Biloxi, Miss., Peter Wagner of Tampa, Fla., Janice Agosta of North Branford, Angela Skibitcky of West Haven, Dawn Lewis of Southington, and Walter Lewis of Wallingford; her six great-grandchildren, Janaia Skibitcky, Walter Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Danielle Wagner, Jared Wagner, and Martin C. Wagner; her brother and sister-in-law, Roy J. and Regina Mrozowski of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Edward R. Dorsey; a sister, Florence Kolin; and a brother, Stanley J. Mrozowski, Sr.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at a time which will be announced in Tuesday's Meriden Record-Journal. Kathleen M. Gorneault
SOUTHINGTON - Kathleen M. (Farnham) Gorneault, 62, of Hemlock Rd., former Bristol resident and widow of Clifford L. Gorneault, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at home.
Mrs. Gorneault was born in Southington, Jan. 30, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Derward and Bridget (O'Shea) Farnham. She resided in Bristol before moving to Southington four years ago. For the past 11 years she was a beautician at J.C. Penney's in Meriden. She was a member of Saint Matthew Church, Forestville, and the New England Western Dance Association.
Mrs. Gorneault is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford A. and Donna Gorneault of Bristol; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Susan and Steve Stairs and Mary Theriault, all of Bristol, Linda and Doug Tibou of Portsmouth, R.I., and Lorena and Eddie Rose of New Britain; two brothers, Derward A. Farnham of Missouri and Gailen Farnham of Southington; four sisters, Eileen Gallo of Meriden, Gloria Denora of Winsted, Winona Hoyt of Canton, and Gail LaPointe of Southington; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Saint Matthew Church, Forestville. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 505 North Parkway, Memphis, TN 38105.
Edna Klausner
WALLINGFORD - Edna Layman Klausner, 85, of Spring Street, died Friday, May 7, 1999, in the Regency House of Wallingford. She was the wife of the late George M. Klausner.
Born in Wallingford, March 5, 1914, daughter of the late Joseph and Mathilda Kapitsky Layman, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident. Mrs. Klausner and her husband had been the proprietors of the Salad Bowl Delicatessen, formerly of Quinnipiac St. in Wallingford, for many years until their retirement several years ago. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark G. and Linda Klausner of Hampton, N.H., Peter O. and Margaret Klausner of South Easton, Mass.; her two grandsons, Eric Klausner of Ohio, and Curtis Klausner of Arizona; her sister and two brothers-in-law, Roseann L. and Frank E. Gestay and Harry F. Klausner, all of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John Layman, Walter Layman, and Edward Layman.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Joseph P. Kurty
WALLINGFORD - Joseph P. Kurty, 80, of 515 South Main St., died Sunday at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden. He was the husband of Jean Semrau Kurty.
He was born in Shamokin, Pa., Feb. 12, 1919, a son of the late Michael and Helen Osse Kurty. Until his retirement, he was a roofer for the G.R. Cummings Company in Meriden. He was a Wallingford resident for 60 years and was a member of the Raoul Lufbery Post No. 591 V.F.W. in Wallingford, and had been a member of the roofers union local No. 9 for 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and during World War II, he was a U.S. Navy veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Susan Kurty of Wallingford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Margaret Kurty of Wallingford and Elmer and Emilia Kurty of Kissimmee, Fla.; two granddaughters, Sarah Kurty and Lauren Kurty; and two nieces, Sandra Aron and JoAnna Brush. He was predeceased by a brother, Steve Kurty, and a sister, Mary Kurty.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. Burial with military honors will be at the State Veterans Cemetery
in Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Joseph A. Walker
BRISTOL - Joseph A. Walker, 60, of 52 Sheila Court, died Thursday at home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Allagash, Maine, son of the late Richard and Naomi (Walker) Walker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Walker was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Walker of Winsted and Richard Walker of Bristol; four daughters, Lisa Desjardins, Robin Mercier and Michelle Sausanavich of Bristol and Cheryl Lyman of Terryville; six sisters, Violet Adams of Limestone, Maine, Ada Doody of Fairfield, Maine, Virginia Dyer of Presque Isle, Maine, Albertine Thibodeau of Southington, Lula Hughes of Brunswick, Maine, and May Strickland of Killeen, Maine; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Conrad and William Walker, and a sister, Annie Jackson.
The funeral services will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be Wednesday at 11:30 at the State Veterans Cemetery
in Middletown with military honors.
Mary C. Anderson
MERIDEN - Mary C. Anderson, 76, wife of Stewart F. Anderson, of 45 Shelley Road, South Meriden, died Saturday morning, April 10, 1999, in the Coccomo Memorial after a brief illness.
She was born in New Bedford, Mass., Jan. 17, 1923, a daughter of the late Arthur T. and Flora Beatty Bower. She was a resident of Meriden for many years. Mrs. Anderson retired from the Wallingford Board of Education in 1988, after having worked in the cafeteria system for several years. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. She devoted her years to her family and she was able to share a wonderful wisdom and spirit which will be greatly missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, James F. Anderson of Meriden; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Richard Messina of Wallingford; a granddaughter, Erin E. Hallock and her husband, Steven Hallock Jr., of Wallingford; a dearly embraced great-granddaughter, Sierrah Ann Hallock; a sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and William McAdams of Durham; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry and Alma Bower of New Bedford and Herbert Bower of Northampton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, James Vierra of Meriden. She was predeceased by a son, Stewart T. Anderson; four sisters, Ruth Parker, Grace Vierra, Doris Bower and Dorothy Bower; two brothers, George and Arthur Bower; and a sister-in-law, Verda Bower.
Relatives and friends are invited to participate with her family in funeral services on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., where the Rev. Ms. Martha Jeffers, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will conduct services. There will be calling hours in the funeral home, Monday, April 12, 1999, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mary Flynn
MERIDEN - Mary Flynn, 92, formerly of 666 Broad St., died on Friday, April 9, 1999, at Westfield Care & Rehab. Center in Meriden.
Born in Meriden on Sept. 6, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary (Lynch) Flynn and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Miss Flynn was a teacher at Maloney High School for many years and was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Julia) Pagnam of Hamden; one niece, two nephews; two grandnieces and four grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Mahon, and by a brother, John L. Flynn.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church in Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden.
