Arlene R. Ireland
MERIDEN - Arlene R. Ireland, 72, wife of the late Walter L. Ireland, Sr., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at a Meriden CT., nursing home. She was born in Chester, July 25, 1926, the daughter of Fredrick and Margaret (Ireland) Tash. Arlene lived in Wallingford CT., for 31 years, and lived in Woodville for about a year before moving back to Connecticut.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy Sr., of Meriden and Walter Jr., of Enfield, Maine; four sisters, Beatrice LaPlante and Ruth Lee, both of Wallingford,; Theo McCloud of California, and Jacqueline Proctor of Florida; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1994 by a son, Kenneth, and also was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 6, at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln, Maine. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Community Evangel Temple, Access Road, Lincoln, Maine. The Rev. Willmont Thurlow officiating. Spring interment will be in Middle Chester Cemetery.
Jean B. Mahon
NORTH HAVEN - Jean Bigliere Mahon, 58, of 26 Barnett Drive, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at her home. She was the daughter of Edith Panciera Bigliere of North Haven and the late Alfred J. Bigliere. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, and was a Registered Nurse at the Radiation Therapy Center at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Besides her mother she leaves sons, Michael W., Christopher J., and Timothy P. Mahon all of North Haven; sisters, Bette Amodio of Wallingford and Marjory Gerard of Durham; a brother, Alfred J. Bigliere of N. Haven; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Austin Mahon.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Saturday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday,(TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the CT., Hospice, Inc., 61 Burban Drive, Branford, 06405.
Alan P. Mickiewicz
WALLINGFORD - Alan P. Mickiewicz, 50, beloved son of Alphonse E. and Frances VanDerstam Mickiewicz, of Grieb Road, Wallingford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Port Charlotte, Fla., of an apparent heart attack.
Born in Meriden, Feb. 10, 1949, he was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School. He had been a self-employed carpenter and building contractor in Wallingford and in Florida for many years. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the medical corps in Korea from 1968 to 1969 and was a member of AMVETS of Windsor.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Thomas C. Mickiewicz of Wallingford, his maternal grandmother, Mildred (Mrs. Cornelius) VanDerstam of Wallingford; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N.Main St, Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, March 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 8, at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Anna Nolte
MERIDEN - Anna Nolte, 94, of 65 Westfield Road, wife of the late Henry Nolte, died on Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Westfield Care & Rehab Center in Meriden. Born in Meriden on Feb. 10, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Anthony) Graycer. She lived in Mass., for 28 years, moving back to Meriden in 1984. Mrs. Nolte was a graduate of Meriden High School and had been employed by New Departure, Hyatt-Bearing Division of General Motors. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Mrs. Nolte is survived by; two nieces, Judy Rooney of Wallingford, and Nancy Fryer of Branford; and four great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, (TODAY) at noon in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Katherine Pardew
WALLINGFORD - Katherine Pardew, 82, of 29 McGuire Court, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Pardew.
She was born in New York, Aug. 16, 1916, of the late Charles and Catherine Roche Finnen.
Until her retirement, she worked in the plant-engineering department at Pratt & Whitney in North Haven. She had been a Wallingford resident for the past 45 years.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Nanette Pardew of Wallingford; a brother, Raymond Finnen of Schaumburg, Ill.; two sisters, Addie Housley of Miami, Fla., and Agnes McGinn of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and a grandson, Thomas J. Pardew. She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Faughnan.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday, March 8, at 9 a.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony Road, Wallingford. Burial will be in at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford.

Ernest R. Skinner
MERIDEN - Ernest Russell Skinner, 89, of 73 Douglas Drive, South Meriden, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at MidState Medical center. He was the husband of Edythe Mary Dane Skinner.
He was born in Meriden, July 3, 1909, a son of the late Frank and Margaret Williams Skinner. He was employed as chief mechanic at Connecticut Light and Power Co. until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Christadelphian Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Esther and James Harper of Cheshire; one sister, F. Enda Skinner of Cheshire; three grandchildren and spouses, Elizabeth and Daniel Demarest of Cuyler, N.Y., Stephen and Brietta Harper of Cuyler, N.Y., and Deborah Harper of Cheshire; two great-grandchildren, Haleigh Harper and Rachel Harper, both of Cuyler, N.Y.; a niece, Carol Aiello of Branford; a nephew, Thomas Skinner of Deep River; and a stepdaughter, Dawn Darcey. He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon Skinner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. If desired, contributions in Mr. Skinner's memory may be made to the Christadelphia Bible Mission, 28 Chapel St., Yalesville, CT 06492.
Shirley Alfonso
WALLINGFORD - Shirley Landino Alfonso, 70, of 112 North Turnpike Road, died suddenly Tuesday, May 26, 1999, at her home after being stricken there.
Mrs. Alfonso was born in New Haven, on Aug. 24, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry and Angelina Pella Alfonso. She had resided in Wallingford for the past twenty-four years. She was a bookkeeper for the Howard Tozzo Agency of North Haven for fifteen years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of TOPS of North Haven.
Mrs. Alfonso is survived by two sons, John M. Alfonso of North Haven and Gary M. Alfonso of Meriden; a brother, Harry Landino Jr. of East Haven; and a sister, Harriet Munson of North Carolina; three granddaughters, Cherie Alfonso of Hamden, Renee Alfonso of North Haven and Alexis Alfonso of Meriden.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, North Haven. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 p.m.
Clemence M. Camp
WEST HARTFORD - Clemence M. (Fontaine) Camp, of West Hartford, wife of Jerrold P. Camp, and married for 35 years, died Monday, May 24, 1999, at her home.
Born in Weeden, Province of Quebec, Canada, living in West Hartford for 38 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two brothers, Elphege Fontaine of Sherbrook, Canada, Conrad Fontaine of Weeden, Canada; four sisters, Alice Simard of Sherbrook, Canada, Beatrice Gagne of Weeden Canada, Leda Fontaine of Weeden, Canada, and Lise Fontaine of Sherbrook, Canada; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Walter Cooper of Yalesville, CT.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
Inger Colla
SOUTHINGTON - Inger "Ginger" Colla, 74, formerly of Danbury, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of the late Louis Joseph Colla.
Born Aug. 6, 1924, in Denmark, daughter of the late Albert and Clara Damgaard. She was retired from Bard Parker and the Heli-Coil of Danbury.
She is survived by a daughter, Diana Kelsey and her husband Hiram of Southington; a granddaughter, Andrea Kelsey; a brother, Jack Damgaard and his wife Eleanor of Bovina Center, N.Y. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, George and Eric; and a sister, Kay Czajka.
Her happy, gentle nature, smiling face and caring ways will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The funeral will be held Saturday, 9 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Hospice of Central Connecticut, P.O. Box 1327, New Britain, CT 06050-1327. Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Catherine M. Deary
OAKVILLE - Catherine M. "Kate" (Steiniger) Deary, 82, of 38 Franklin Ave., Oakville, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury. She was the wife of George F. Deary Sr. Born in Wallingford, Sept. 23, 1916, daughter of the late Martin and Hattie (Schultz) Steiniger. Mrs. Deary was educated in Wallingford and attended the Holy Trinity Catholic Schools. She was an Oakville resident for over 52 years. Mrs. Deary and her husband George celebrated their 58 wedding anniversary this past year. She was former president for many years of the Rosary Society at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville, and she was a longtime member of its Catholic Women's Organization. For many years she was active with the Brownies and Girl Scouts in Watertown-Oakville as a scout leader. Mrs. Deary did volunteer work for the Newtown State Hospital and with the American Heart Association Waterbury Chapter. In her spare time, she loved to knit and work with flowers. Mrs. Deary was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church, Oakville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by: three sons, George F. Deary Jr. of Oakville, Paul M. Deary of Stamford, Robert J. Deary of Watertown; one daughter, Karen M. Miller of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one sister, Eleanor Jekella of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Schultz and Anna Tessmer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 9:15 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville, followed by a Mass in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Oakville at 10 a.m. Burial will follow to Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road, Watertown. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Mary Magdalen Church, 145 Buckingham St., Oakville, CT 06779.
