Ronald C. Church
SOUTHINGTON - Ronald C. Church, 61, of 225 Marion Ave., Plantsville section, beloved husband of Betty (Moulton) Church, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Meriden, Feb 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Knop) Church. He graduated from St. Mary's School and Wilcox Technical School. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a former volunteer fireman for Marion Co. #4. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Until his illness, he was most recently employed at the Cragganmore Assisted Center (Chancellor Gardens) in Plantsville.
Besides his wife of almost 40 years, he is survived by three sons and two daughters and a son-in-law, R. Peter Church, Andrew Church, and Daniel Church of Plantsville, Beth Church of Plantsville and Rhonda (Church) and William Despins of Waterbury; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda (Church) and John Wisner of Farmington, and Karen (Church) and Robert L'Heureux of Southington. He was a kind and loving man and will be missed by all his friends, especially his good friend and fishing buddy, Thomas Neeley.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St, Mary's Church in Meriden. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be Wednesday (TODAY), 5 to 8 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Lloyd F. Freemantle
MERIDEN - Lloyd F. Freemantle, 56, of Cook Ave., died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
Born in Meriden on June 22, 1942, son of Ceclia (Delulio) Freemantle of Meriden and the late Lloyd D. Freemantle, he had lived in the Meriden-Wallingford area all his life. He graduated from Lyman Hall in Wallingford and from University of Connecticut in Storrs. Mr. Freemantle was employed by Patricci Landscaping in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era, having served with the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He was a member of American Legion Post 45.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Jody) Mordarski of Ashford and Jamie Freemantle of Wallingford; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Eva) Correia of Wallingford; two brothers, Garry Freemantle of Middlefield, and Scott Freemantle of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Bish, of the Heritage Baptist Church of Wallingford officiating in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., on Thursday, Feb 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Donald K. Grandy
YALESVILLE - Donald K. Grandy, 63, of Swan Ave., Yalesville, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at Westfield Care and Rehab. Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Ruth Gendron Grandy.
He was born in Meriden, June 1, 1935, a son of the late Kenneth S. and Maybelle Virginia Coggins Grandy. He was secretary and vice president of the J.B. Coggins Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the former Main Street Baptist Church and also a member of the Connecticut Postcard Club and the Meriden Historical Society.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura Smith and Richard St. Jean of Warwick R.I.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Douglas K. Grandy of Ansonia, Paul B. Grandy of Randolph, Vt., Donald L. and Marissa Grandy of Meriden, and John and Lisa Grandy of Meriden; two brothers, Kenneth T. Grandy and Stuart A. Grandy, both of Meriden; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Gayle) Hettrick of Berlin; fourteen grandchildren, Charlotte and Dwayne Smith of Warrick, R.I., Kevin and Monica Grandy of Southington, John and Shane Briers of Meriden, James, Sara, Laura and Timothy Grandy of Randolph, Vt., and Joshua, Matthew, Daniel and Zachery Grandy of Meriden; one great-granddaughter, Janea Hudson of Randolph, Vt., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Cynthia Strosahl will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Edward Stiles Kenney
MERIDEN - Edward Stiles Kenney, 79, of 47 Huber St., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, in his home. He was the husband of Lucille Stiles Kenney.
He was born in East Haven on March 26, 1919, a son of the late Charles and Flora Rothman Kenney. He had worked at the Meriden Auto Station and later at Pratt & Whitney in Middletown until his retirement in 1986.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Farquhar of Meriden; a son, Thomas Edward Kenney; six grandchildren, Susan Campbell of Bath, Maine, Cathy Taccoline of Ashford, Daniel Canfield of Rock Port, Maine, Mark Farquhar of Warren, Maine, Mary Kenney of Meriden and Erin Canfield of Meriden.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden.
Lillian C. Simone
SOUTHINGTON - Lillian C. Simone, 74, wife of the late Joseph F. Simone Sr., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Southington Care Center.
Born in Bristol on June 21, 1924, she was a parishioner and charter member of Mary Our Queen Church. She was a member of AARP.
She was the loving mother of Joseph F. Simone Jr. and his wife Wendy of Plainville; three daughters and their husbands, Susan and Robert Monaco of Plantsville, Barbara Simone-Guerra and William of Chester, and Johanna and Michael Furgalack of Cheshire; two brothers, Andrew Grande and Ernest Grande both of Bristol; two sisters, Nina Tonnotti of Southington and Jeannette Eschner of Bristol; two grandchildren, Taylor Anna and Katrina Marie Furgalack; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 26, at 10:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to Mary Our Queen Church at 11a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Louis J. Theriault
SOUTHINGTON - Louis J. Theriault, 82, husband of Anita (Beaupre) Theriault, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at home.
Born July 7, 1916, in Hartford son of the late Benjamin and Alice (Gaudet) Theriault. He has retired from the Town of Southington as superintendent of the Water Pollution Control. He was Past President of the Connecticut Water Pollution Abatement Association. He was elected and served on the 1st R.T.M. form of government in Southington. Mr. Theriault was a member of the Federation of New England Water Pollution Control Association and was past president of the Paten Brook Home Owners Association.
He was a member of the Calendar House and a parishioner of St. Dominic Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anne M. and son-in-law James Theriault of Southington; two sisters, Elizabeth Greenwood of Newington and Irene Sauban of California; two grandchildren, Donna Theriault and Dennis Theriault and his wife Kristin; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 26, at 9:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to St. Dominic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery

Jennie (Malchiodi) Tuttle
MERIDEN - Jennie Tuttle, 98, of Meriden, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown.
Born in Wallingford on April 10, 1900, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose Malchiodi, and lived in Meriden for over 80 years. Mrs. Tuttle was employed by New Departure, Hyatt-Bearing Division of General Motors, for some 23 years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of First Congregational Church and a former member of the Eastern Star. She was also an active member if the Meriden Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Tuttle is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Bette (Kelly) Tuttle of Meriden; two granddaughters, Kathleen Sims of Meriden and Diane Mase of Wallingford; three great-grandchildren, Kelly Sims, Tracy Sims, and Frank Sims, all of Meriden; and by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tuttle was predeceased by her husband, Oliver A. Tuttle, and by three brothers and three sisters. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery
with the Rev. Meredith L. Jeffers of First Congregational Church officiating. Friends may call at the John J. Ruth K. Williams
MERIDEN - Ruth K. Williams, of the Bradley Home, formerly of 80 Hanover St., wife of the late James R. Williams, died on Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at the Bradley Home after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Magdelena (Sturmer) Karl. Mrs. Williams lived in Wallingford for some 15 years during her marriage and was a Meriden resident for most of her life. She was a graduate of St. Rose School.
Mrs. Williams was employed by New Departure, Hyatt-Bearing Division of General Motors, for 28 years. She was a parishioner of St. Rose Lima Church, a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women, three time president of the Habor Brook Association, and for 15 years had been a volunteer in the gift shop at Veteran's Hospital on Paddock Avenue. Mrs. Williams was also a member of the Meriden Senior Center, was on the executive committee of the U.A.W. Retirees Association of New Departure for many years, and a member of Friends of the Library.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruthann Lohmann and her husband, Carl H. Lohmann, of Meriden, and Carol Woodson of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; four grandchildren, Carl H. Lohmann, Jr., and his wife, Tracy, of Wallingford; Karen Smith and her husband, Raymond, of Southington, Michael Shippen and his wife, Kitty, of Wisconsin, and James Shippen of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb.27, at 10:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 11a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Henrietta Aldi
SOUTHINGTON - Henrietta Aldi, 81, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Ridgewood Health Center. She was the widow of Anthony A. Aldi.
She was born Sept. 3, 1917, at home on Buckland Street in Plantsville, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Kaytor) Witt. Mrs. Aldi graduated from Lewis High School in 1934. She had worked at Stanley Works in New Britain. During the 1940 she had worked at the Southington Water Department, where she met her late husband, Anthony. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and was a member and volunteer of the Calendar House. Mrs. Aldi was also a volunteer with the Bradley Memorial Hospital Auxillary.
She is survived by a son, A. Michael Aldi of Southington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Richard Van Valkenburgh of Southington and Debra and Arthur French of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Gertrude Steinnagel, MaryAnn Zajac and her husband, Edward, all of Southington; four grandchildren, Scott Van Valkenburgh of Ward, Colo., and Daniel, Catherine and Rebecca Aldi of Southington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie Aldi, Eleanor and Joseph Aldi of Southington, Philomena Irvolino of N.J., Christine Pierro of New York and Julie and Neil Palma of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Henry Witt Jr.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Helen M. Antaloci
MERIDEN - Helen M. Antaloci, 85, of 33 S. View St., wife of George Antaloci, died Feb. 20, 1999, in Meriden Nursing and Rehab after a short illness.
Born in Coatsville, Pa., May 12, 1913, daughter of the late John and Camilla Lewandowski and had resided in Meriden most of her life. Mrs. Antaloci was employed by the Bradley Home for many years and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lorraine and son-in-law, Robert Davis of Meriden and Barbara Heath of Cheshire; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Guillete of Thomaston and Florence Cortese of Tunkannock, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Antaloci was predeceased by one sister, Mary Yaroshefski and three brothers, Frank, Joseph and Charles Lewandowski.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
