Thomas E. O'Brien
BRAINTREE, Mass. - Thomas Edward O'Brien, 72, of Braintree, beloved husband of Florence O'Brien, died Feb. 3, 1999, following a brief illness. Mr. O'Brien was retired from the Boston school system and the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. O'Brien is survived by two sisters, Helen Dillon and Mary Wilkins, as well as eight children and their spouses; Ms. Margaret O'Brien of Scituate, Mass., Robert and Mary (O'Brien) Powers of Milton, Mass., Edward and Eileen O'Brien of Meriden, Conn., Tim and Maureen (O'Brien) Creedon of New Hampshire, Thomas and Gaye O'Brien of Mashpee, Mass., Michael and Colleen (O'Brien) Wood of Litchfield, Maine, David and Kathleen (O'Brien) Long of Tampa, Fla., and William O'Brien of Braintree, Mass. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, including Jennifer, Timothy, Matthew and Kelsey O'Brien of Meriden.
The funeral and wake for Mr. O'Brien will be held at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home in Braintree, Mass.

James V. Padula
WALLINGFORD - James V. Padula, 94, of Marc Drive, formerly of Meadow Street, husband of Jennie Tedoldi Padula, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at MidState Medical Center.
Jim was born in Marlborough, Mass., Sept. 18, 1904, son of the late Joseph and Rose Rosaria Padula, and had been a Wallingford resident since 1945. A sales representative for many years, he had also been proprietor of the former Mabel's Luncheonette in Wallingford for many years. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church. He also was a life member of the Wallingford Lodge of Elks No. 1365, and had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 1820, and the St. Pierre Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Joseph F. Downing of Wallingford; four granddaughters, Natalie Johnson of Parsippany, N.J., Joanne Daviau of Wallingford, Roberta Gioffre of Stevensville, Md., and Dr. Donna Anderson of Albany, N.Y.; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Padula of Marlborough, Mass.; three brothers, Charles Padula and John Padula, both of Marlborough, and Frank Padula of Nottingham, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mabel Padula, and his grandson, William L. Downing.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford, Friday (TODAY) from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.

Mary Sehl
MERIDEN - Mary (Schipritt) Sehl, 82, of 15 Villa St., wife of the late Karl A. Sehl, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, 1999, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden on May 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Finnance) Schipritt. She was a lifelong resident and a graduate of St. Mary Parochial School in Meriden. Mrs. Sehl was a parishioner of St. Mary Church and a member of the St. Elizabeth Society.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Marian Hourigan, Diane and Robert Slabinski, and Karen Kurowski, all of Meriden; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl Sehl of Strawberry, Ariz., and Robert and Phyllis Sehl of Datil, N.M.; seven grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Flannigan of Wethersfield, Gertrude Skwara of Old Wethersfield, and Dolores Randall of Meriden; five brothers, Frank Schipritt of Charlestown, R.I.; her twin brothers, Robert and Raymond Schipritt, both of Meriden, George Schipritt of Stuart, Fla., and Edward Schipritt of Meriden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and by a dear friend, Christopher Miller.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Monica J. Adams
NEW HAVEN - In New Haven, April 6, 1999, J. Moncia Bornn Adams, 81, of 159 Lombard St., wife of the late Richard Adams, mother of Patricia Carruthers of Wallingford, sister of Andrew Bornn of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Josephita Attala of Trinidad, West Indies. She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-granddaughters. Mrs. Adams was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, April 23, 1917, daughter of the late Herbert and Agnes Lozea Bornn, and resided in New Haven over 50 years. She was employed by Cott Beverages and was a longtime member of the Atwater Senior Center. She is lovingly remembered as the "Mayor of Fair Haven", and was a longtime member of the New Haven Democratic Party, especially in campaigns of former Mayor Frank Logue, former U.S. Congressman Bruce Morrison, and present U.S. Congresswoman Roas DeLauro.
Funeral will take place Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home of J. Markiewicz & Sons, 14 Trumbull St. Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Donations in her memory may be made to Farnam-Neighborhood House, 162 Fillmore St., New Haven, CT 06513.

William D. Bertini
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - William DeForest Bertini, 72, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Wallingford and Madison, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, in Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. Bertini was born in New Haven, Conn., Oct. 20, 1926, a son of the late Ralph E. and Ola Rourke Bertini, was raised in Wallingford, Conn., and had lived in Madison, Conn., for many years until moving to Florida 20 years ago.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lorraine M. Bertini of Wallingford, and Ann Bertini of Charlotte, N.C.; two nephews, Garth Bertini of Wallingford, and Robert Betini of Marietta, Ga.; and a niece, Mary Bickers of Greensboro, N.C. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph C. Bertini II, and Robert Bertini.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 9, 1999, at 2 p.m. at In Memoriam Cemetery. The Rev. Brendan McCormick, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Wallingford will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford.

Glendon H. Deming
WALLINGFORD - Glendon H. Deming, 78, of Simpson Avenue, Wallingford, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was the husband of Elizabeth Bartholomew Deming.
Born in Wallingford, April 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Fredrick and Maude Elsie Joab Deming and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Deming was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Wallingford for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, the National Association if Letter Carriers, the Major Raoul Lufbery VFW Post No. 519 of Wallingford and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Deming of Wallingford; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Glenn H. and Sharon Deming of Meriden, Bruce A. and Mary Deming of Seymour and Richard F. Deming and fiancée, Lisa Gawlak of Wallingford; five grandchildren, Sara Deming, John Deming, Matthew Deming, Steven Martin and Michelle Martin; a brother, Norman Deming of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Maude Graves and a brother, Howard Deming.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St, Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Saturday, at 1p.m. with the Rev. Margaret Jay, officiating. Interment in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford will be private. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Special Olympics-Tritown, P.O. Box 588, Meriden, CT 06450, or to the American Diabetes Association, Connecticut Affiliate, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450.

Alice Fritzinger
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Alice Dunne Fritzinger, 83, of San Clemente, Calif., past away peacefully March 29, 1999, to the profound sorrow of her family and that wide circle of friends whose lives she touched. Beloved wife of Carl; cherished grandmother of Kelly, Krista, Mary, Heather, Matthew, Jonathan, Caitlin and Thomas; and great-grandmother of Ethan. A.R.N. graduate of the Hartford School of Nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl and her children, Thomas, Robert and Linda. She was predeceased by her beloved son, William.
Graveside services at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden, will be at noon on Friday, April 9. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of John J. Ferry & Sons, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your favorite charity. A memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, San Clemente, Calif.
She was a woman with a loving, compassionate heart, and a delightful sense of humor. Thus her memory will be forever a blessing.

Lucille Giannotti
WALLINGFORD - Lucille Pacello Giannotti, 74, of 17 John Savage Commons, Wallingford, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at St. Raphael's Hospital. She was the wife of Michael Giannotti.
Born in Denver, Dec. 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Antonia DelVacchio Pacello, and a resident of Wallingford for many years.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Maryann Nesto and her husband Frank of Wallingford; grandmother of Lisa, Frankie and Lindsey Nesto; sister of Louis and Dominic Pacello of Denver, Colo., Florence Sapio and Josephine DeAngelis both of Hamden, Mary Santangelo of Denver and the late James, Charles and John Pacello.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Friday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the Church of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The visiting hours will be Thursday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m.

George H. Kubeck
NORTH HAVEN - Goerge H. Kubeck, 74, of 70 Scrub Oak Road, North Haven, died Wednesday at Elim Park Baptist Home, Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Shirley Rice Kubeck. He was born in Wallingford on Feb. 22, 1925, and was the son of the late John and Jessie Marziaz Kubeck. A resident of North Haven for many years, he had worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., for many years until retiring as an assistant superintendent. He had served in the U.S. Army, 1251 Combat Engineers, Co. B. during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW both in Wallingford.
He leaves a daughter, Darlene J. Kubeck of North Haven; a sister, Mae Sbrana of Southington. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Kubeck; four sisters, Stacia Gmitrzuk, Florence Hunter, Helen Yonoski and Charlotte Monleon; and six brothers Edward, Edmond, Edwin, John, Theodore and Henry Kubeck.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted the First Congregational Church of Wallingford at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church, 23 S. Main St., Wallingford, CT 06492, or FISH P.O. Michael A. Persky
COVENTRY - Michael A. Persky, 54, of 3513 Main St., Coventry formerly of Cheshire, died Monday April 5, 1999, in Meriden. He was born April 15, 1944, in New Haven, son of the late Dr. George and Anne (Hankin) Persky. Michael was the loving husband of Alyce Milton Persky. He was employed for over 30 years with the Meriden Board of Education. Michael started his teaching career as a social studies and math teacher, later working in the SWAS program at Washington Middle School. He was involved with many school activities. He was past president of the Meriden Federation of Teachers, assistant football and track coach at Platt High School and assistant coach of the 1989 Girls State Championship basketball team at Platt.
Michael was active in Cheshire politics, having been on the Cheshire Planning and Zoning committee and a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department. Michael's love of life and humor will be greatly missed by his family, friends and students whom he loved very much.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles L. Persky of East Greenwich, R.I.; a daughter, Audrey Persky of Grand Forks, N.D.; a stepson, Charles and his wife Michelle Milton of Coventry; and one brother, Ira Persky of Staten Island, N.Y. He also leaves a grandson whom he loved and cherished, Charles Milton of Coventry and a host of many other family and friends.
A period of gathering will take place Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Coventry Funeral Home. A funeral will take place Friday April 9, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rabbi Susan Gulack of Temple B'nai Isreal of Williamantic officiating, the burial will follow at Hebron Columbia Cemetery in Mansfield.
