ROBERT C. WHITE
WATERBURY — Robert Charles White, 50, of Bristol, formerly of Waterbury, died on Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mr. White was born in New Britain on Feb. 4, 1948, the son of Robert E. White and the late Phyllis Marie (Heckman) White. He was a former employee of Yankee Gas Co. and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, and was a member of the American Legion in both Bristol and Oxford, and also a member of the VFW.
In addition to his father of Bristol, Mr. White is survived by his stepmother, Frances White, whom he lovingly referred to as "St. Frances," also of Bristol; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott B. and Lu Ann White, of North Carolina, Glenn M. and Sandi White of Bristol; a brother, Leo J. White of Bristol; a sister, Debbie J. Smith of Meriden; a sister and brother-in-law, Denise and John Cote of Bristol; a niece, Amber Lee White; two nephews, Cory Michael White and Richard Lee Cote. Mr. White was also predeceased by a brother, Richard Lee White.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at 10 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2024 E. Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705-2605.

Eleanor K. Cannon
HAMDEN -- Eleanor K. Griffin Cannon, 97, formerly of Myra Road, Hamden, and most recently a resident of the Willows of Woodbridge, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the widow of Gilbert J. Cannon.
She was born April 19, 1901, in New Haven, a daughter of the late Edward and Susan Drane Griffin. She was a member and past president of the St. Therese Guild of St. Lawrence Church in West Haven, a charter member and past president of the Ladies Guild of St. Rita Church in Hamden, a member of the New Haven Women's Club, the New Haven Council of Catholic Women, the Spring Glen Garden Club, and was a former Red Cross volunteer.
She is survived by sons, Gilbert J. Cannon of Hamden, Robert J. Cannon of Hamden and William L. Cannon of Wallingford; also seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Keough and Charlotte Hyland, and brothers, Edward and George Griffin.
Funeral will be held from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Stephen's Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Howard J. Dewey
MERIDEN -- Howard J. Dewey, 75, of Fiesta Heights, husband of Edith (Weber) Dewey, died on Monday evening, Aug. 17, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Holyoke, Mass., on April 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Howard D. and Ellen (Hugo) Dewey, and had resided in Meriden for most of his life. Mr. Dewey was employed by Northeast Utilities for some 15 years, retiring in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the Atlantic theater of operations. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
Besides his wife, Edith, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Len Gagne of Plantsville; and a son, Gary Dewey of Meriden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by a sister, Betty Irving of Simsbury.
The funeral and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Robert J. Manville
WALLINGFORD -- Robert J. Manville, 43, of Wallingford, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., Aug. 19, 1954, son of Daniel L. and Dollie Davis Manville, he had been a Wallingford resident for many years, and attended local schools. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Timothy A. Manville of Hamden; his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and George Curley of Waterbury, Debra L. Manville of Long Beach, Calif., and Tina and Gary Robinson of Wallingford; two nieces, Jennifer Robinson and Aimee Robinson, and a nephew, Andrew Robinson; his paternal grandmother, Hazel M. Lamm of Suffolk, Va.; his former wife, Dianne Lion Manville of Hamden; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m., when a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Daniel J. Scott will officiate. Interment will be private at In Memoriam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to either the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108, or the American Liver Foundation, 425 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.

Emma T. Martinetto
HAMDEN -- Emma Theresa Martinetto, 81, of 24 Washington Ave. died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in the Hamden Health Care after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Martinetto.
She was born in Hamden, May 31, 1917, a daughter of the late Giovanni E. and Guiseppina Vacca Torchio, and had lived in Hamden all of her life. She was employed as a sales clerk at the former Edward Malley Co. of New Haven for 17 years, retiring in 1963. She was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan M. Stave and Edward T. Stave of Wallingford; three grandchildren, Lisa Stave Sheehan of Old Saybrook, Edward John Stave and Lori Stave Farkash, both of Wallingford; and two great-granddaughters, Alexis Farkash and Emily Sheehan.
The funeral will be from the Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wednesday at 10;30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Whitney Avenue , Hamden, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Raphael Hospital Foundation, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.

Catharine Sita
MERIDEN -- Catharine "Cathy" Carabetta Sita, wife of 53 years to Rodney Sita, passed away quietly on Aug. 18, 1998, in the Sita and Romano family home on 60 Sandy Lane in Meriden. Cathy had been courageously battling cancer.
Born in Meriden on Feb. 19, 1924, to Michael and Nancy Elizabeth Carabetta, she was raised and educated locally prior to working for the U.S. Naval Department in Washington , D.C. Cathy later returned to Meriden, where she married her grade school sweetheart, Rodney J. Sita, upon his return from World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines. Together, Cathy and Rodney made Meriden their home.
After raising two daughters, Cathy went to work as a pharmacist aide at Graeber's Pharmacy until her early retirement to care for her husband, Rodney, in 1985. She also became very active in local city politics and the Democratic committee with the late Benjamin N. DeZinno.
Cathy was lovingly cared for in the family home by her husband, Rodney, their youngest daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Sita) and Ronald A. Roman, the wonderful aides, nurses and staff of the Franciscan Home Care, and her two cherished pets, Loni and Sammy.
Cathy also leaves her eldest daughter and her spouse, Elizabeth Sita and Jim Kirtopoulos of Northford; two grandsons, Nick Kirtopoulos of Northford and Eric Senise of East Haven, and a granddaughter, Aleksandra Romano of Hamden.
She also leaves two brothers, Robert Carabetta of Meriden and William Carabetta of Texas ; two sisters, Elizabeth Leckner of Florida and Marie Walker of California; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews throughout the states, and many wonderful friends. Cathy is also survived by some very special people who were of comfort, joy and support to her during her illness: Beryl, Eleanor and Frank. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard of Texas , and her parents, Michael and Nancy Elizabeth Carabetta of Meriden.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Ms. Nancy Parisi will be the vocalist at church, accompanied by Mrs. Rose Tomassetti as organist, both dear friends of Cathy. Friends may pay their respects to Cathy at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

QUINTO ASCARI
WALLINGFORD — Quinto Ascari, 94, husband of the late Victoria Lodi Ascari, father of Dr. William Q. Ascari of St. Martin, Netherlands Antilles, and Ada Kahl of Scituate, Mass., died April 29, 1998.
Masonic services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center Chapel, Masonic Avenue, Wallingford. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
It is suggested that gifts in his memory be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 114 N. Main St., Wallingford 06492, or the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford 06492.
The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford, is in charge of arrangements.

VICTORIA A. KEDREK
MERIDEN — Victoria A. Kedrek, 87, formerly of 121 Valley View Drive, wife of the late Joseph V. Kedrek, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Meriden Care and Rehab Center.
Born in Meriden on Dec. 17, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna (Gawlak) Erazmus. She had attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Mrs. Kedrek was employed by International Silver Co. for 27 years and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Mrs. Kedrek is survived by three sisters, Helen Urban of New Jersey, Cecelia Cassidy and Henrietta Sulik, both of Meriden; and a brother, Frederick Erasmus of Surfside Beach, S.C. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kedrek was predeceased by two sisters, Stephanie Goff and Florence Krock, and by five brothers, Theodore, Adolph, Alexander, Peter and John Erasmus.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Man St., Meriden, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to Mass.

PHOUNIBANE LASISOMPHONE
MERIDEN — Phounibane Lasisomphone, 19, of 23 Vine St., died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Hartford Hospital.
Phounibane was born in Savannakhet, Laos, on Jan. 1, 1979, a daughter of Chanthong and Leuam Thammarack Lasisomphone of Meriden. She graduated in 1997 from Platt High School in Meriden and was attending Middlesex Community College.
Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Phousavanh Lasisomphone of Meriden; two brothers, Lt, Col. Bounlane Lasisomphone of Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, and Pfc. Bounlong Lasisomphone of Meriden. She is also survived by family and friends of the Daoheuang, Singngam and Lasisomphone families.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at 10 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, ELCA, 300 Washington Ave., Middletown. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
