KATHERINE A. STONE
MERIDEN — Katherine A. Stone, 87, formerly of 1012 Old Colony Road, wife of the late Delbert H. Stone, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at the Ledgecrest Connecticut Home in Kensington.
Born Feb. 1, 1911, in Glover, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Minnie Graham Peck and she had resided in Meriden for over 20 years. Mrs. Stone attended school in Vermont, among them Johnson Teachers College.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn F. Maynard of Randolph, Vt., and Muriel Jones of Chicago; two sons, Delbert R. Stone of Meriden and Raymond L. Stone of Massena, N.Y.; a grandson, Michael J. Maynard of Branford and 10 other grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Mae Facteau of Quechee, Vt., and Helen Orr of Meriden, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stone was predeceased by a son, Dorman R. Stone.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St. Burial will be in In Memoriam Cemetery Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

BERNARD J. BUCHOLZ SR.
MERIDEN — Bernard J. Bucholz Sr., 74, husband of Carmela J. Mercaldi Bucholz, of 63 Wilbur Ave., died Monday morning, Sept. 21, 1998, in his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Meriden, Feb. 19, 1924, a son of the late Bernard and Catherine Moletki Bucholz. He was a lifelong resident. He retired from the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Engine Division of United Technologies after 30 years of employment. He was a U.S. Army Aircorps veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer playing at Hunter's Memorial Golf Course, where, after his retirement, he worked as a starter and ranger. He was a member of the Silver City Golf Club. He was an enthusiastic sports fan enjoying all sports. He especially liked attending Middletown High School games to watch his grandson who participated on several different teams. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Bernard J. Bucholz Jr. of Meriden; one grandson, Bernard J. Bucholz III and a granddaughter, Nicole Bucholz, both of Middletown; one sister and a brother-in-law, Helen and Theodore Miller of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leo and Joseph Bucholz, and a sister, Florence Mousch.
His funeral services will begin in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at 9:45 a.m. with his funeral liturgy in St. Mary Church at 10:30 a.m. He will be buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home TODAY from 4 to 8 p.m. It would be greatly appreciated to have contributions made to the American Lung Association, 3018 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518-3520 in remembrance of Mr. Bucholz.

MARIA DISTASIO
AMOROSI, Italy — Maria Arpino DiStasio died Sept. 17, 1998, in Amorosi, Italy. She was born Oct. 3, 1915. She was the wife of Pasquale DiStasio.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Antonio and Michelina DiStasio of Southington; a daughter-in-law, Concetta DiStasio of Italy; grandchildren, Pasquale and Maria DiStasio of Southington and Pasquale DiStasio of Italy. She was predeceased by a son, Domenico; two brothers, Angelo and Vincenzo Arpino; and a sister, Lisa Arpino.
A funeral was held in Italy.
A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Mary Our Queen Church, Savage Street, Southington.

ROSARIA FALCO
EAST HAVEN — Rosaria "Rose" Falco, 90, died Wednesday Sept. 16, 1998. She was the widow of Antonio Falco.
She was born in Modica, Sicily, Italy, May 8, 1908.
She is survived by two sons, Vincent Falco of East Haven and Paul Falco of Wolcott; a brother, George Zocco of Hamden; a sister, Concetta Tartaglia of Wallingford; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405.

LORRAINE PALOVCHAK
MERIDEN — Lorraine Palovchak, 74, of 65 Westfield Road, wife of George T. Palovchak, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus.
Born in Meriden on May 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Louis G. and Lillian M. (Gendron) Desrochers. She was a lifelong resident of Meriden, was a graduate of Meriden High School, class of 1942, and attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Mrs. Palovchak spent her banking career employed by City Savings Bank in Meriden, ending with her retirement several years ago. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Laurent Church and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society.
Besides her husband, George, Mrs. Palovchak is survived by her sister, Rosalie Desrochers McEwen of San Francisco; and by a cousin, Karen B. Marvin of Niantic.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. in St. Laurent Cemetery, South Meriden. There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Oct. 24, 1998, at 10 a.m. in St. Laurent Church. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

JULIA R. SALOMONE
MERIDEN — Julia R. Salomone, 84, wife of the late Lawrence V. Salomone, of 25 Elizabeth Road, died Sunday evening at the Westfield Care and Rehab Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Meriden, April 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Rocco and Maryann Zilda Reale. She was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Salomone retired from the New Departure Division of General Motors, in the early 1970s after over 40 years of employment. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was very family orientated and will be especially remembered for her Sunday pasta dinners with family and friends and for all the love that accompanied her most often heard word "eat."
She is survived by her son, Peter Salomone of Meriden; four grandchildren, Lori Ann Mercuri and her husband, Daniel of Meriden, M.J. O'Brian of Meriden, Katie Guerin, also of Meriden and Daniel and his wife, Yolanda Salomone of Higganum; seven great-grandchildren, Kara Beth and Colin Mercuri, Neil and Ian O'Brian, Mitchell Guerin and Alexis and Kyle Salomone; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine 'Pepper' and Walter Kaminski and Emma and Anthony Malavenda, all of Meriden; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph Reale of Middletown, Alfred and Loretta Reale and Rocco and Joyce Reale, all of Meriden; two sisters-in-law, Lena Reale and Mary D'Amico; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very dear friend, Connie Beeman of Meriden. She was predeceased by two brothers, Louis Reale and Sam Reale, and a sister, Rose Rizza.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., with procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for her 9 a.m. Mass of Christian burial. She will be interred with her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home TODAY from 4 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Salomone's family requests that memorial donations be made to the Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

JOHN A. CARROZZELLA
WALLINGFORD — John A. Carrozzella, 68, formerly of Long Hill Road, Wallingford, died suddenly Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, in Pennsylvania .
He was born in Wallingford, Aug. 19, 1930, son of the late John C. Carrozzella, M.D., and Lucille Gagliardi Carrozzella. He was an attorney in Wallingford for many years. He was a graduate of Choate School in Wallingford, Class of 1948, Yale University, Class of 1952 and the University of Connecticut, School of Law, Class of 1956. He was a former Democratic state legislator, former chairman of the Judicial Committee, former member of the Wallingford Country Club and the Knights of Columbus of Wallingford.
Mr. Carrozzella is survived by sons, John C. Carrozzella, M.D. of Pensacola, Fla., and Attorney Christopher Carrozzella of Wallingford, Lawrence Carrozzella and his wife, Rose Marie, of Wethersfield and William Carrozzella of Farmington; a sister, Agnes C. Barba of Cheshire; and five grandchildren.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at Saint Thomas Becket Church, Cheshire, Friday morning, Sept. 25, 1998, at 10:30.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

GERALDINE M. DIGIULIO
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Geraldine Marie (Connaughton) Digiulio, 87, died Monday Sept. 7, 1998, in New Port Richey.
She was the widow of Louis A. Digiulio.
Born in Meriden in 1911, she was a daughter of Rose Fox and Patrick Connaughton.
She attended Meriden schools and graduated from Meriden High School in 1933.
She resided in the Westfield section of Middletown before moving to New Port Richey in 1966.
She was active in the Gulf Harbors Civic Association and its many satellite clubs and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta (Digiulio) Heise-Sargent and James Sargent of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel A. and Theresa M. Digiulio of Coventry; a brother, William Connaughton of Meriden, five grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Friends wishing may send contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.

JOYCE H. DOWNING
WALLINGFORD — Joyce H. Ryan Downing, 66, of Ridgeland Circle, Wallingford, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at the Connecticut Baptist Home in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Emery J. Downing.
Born in Meriden, June 23, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Edmund J. and Arline Ferry Ryan and was a Wallingford resident for 34 years. She was employed in the office of Spartan Tool and Manufacturing Co. for many years until her retirement. She was a past president and member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary in Meriden and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in the Yalesville section of Wallingford.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Tempe Hanlon of Plymouth, Vt.; a niece, Pamela T. VanHennik and her husband, Lee R. VanHennik, of Wallingford; two nephews, John E. Tempe and Patrick R. Tempe and his wife, Pamela A. Tempe, all of Meriden; two grandnieces, Kathryn A. Tempe and Allanah R. Tempe and a grandnephew, Kyle P. VanHennik.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Thursday morning, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.
