JACQUELINE HOFFMAN
WALLINGFORD — Jacqueline Hildebrandt Hoffman, 66, of Mariot Circle, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of Francis T. Hoffman Sr.
Born in New Haven, Nov. 14, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John Hildebrandt and the late Anna Andel Hildebrant Barbato, and was a Wallingford resident for 44 years. A graduate of East Haven High School and Middlesex Community College, she was employed by SNET for 27 years as a repair service supervisor until her retirement in 1987. She served as vice president and president of the Telephone Pioneers of New Britain Life Members. A very active parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection, she was a member of the Ladies Guild, chairwoman of the Spiritual Committee of the Ladies Guild, a founding member of the Ministry of Prayer of the church, co-chairperson of the church Care Committee, a member of the church Carnival Committee, a rectory office volunteer, a Religious Education Office assistant and a Brook Hollow Health Care volunteer.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah A. and Charles W. Henries of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Patricia M. and Paul Quaranto of Wallingford; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Andrea A. Hoffman Jr. of Bristol, R.I.; eight grandchildren, Todd J. Burwell, Jason T. Burwell, Jessica Henries, Jordan Henries, Thomas Morris, Christopher Morris, Stephanie M. Hoffman and Kimberly A. Hoffman; two sisters, Amelia "Mimi" Tadeyeske of Winter Haven, Fla., and Anne M. Board of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest C. and Carmela Barbato of East Haven; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Dominic Barbato.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery

ROBERT E. MCCORMACK
SOUTHINGTON — Robert E. McCormack, 71, of Cape Coral, Fla., and 320 Rockwood Drive, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer at his home in Southington.
Born July 8, 1927, in New Britain, the son of the late Lester I. and Olive (Williams) McCormack. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a Boatswain 1st class, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Franklin and U.S.S. Midway. Mr. McCormack was the owner of the former Quality Wholesale Dist. Co., in Plantsville. From 1976-1981 he was chairman of the Southington Parks and Recreation Board. He was director of the Southington Bicentennial Committee and chairman of the Bicentennial Ball Committee. Mr. McCormack donated to the town of Southington, a Perpetual Lamp on the Town Green in celebration of Southington's Bicentennial. He was a charter member and distinguished President (1973-1974) of the Southington Kiwanis Club. Bob was the recipient of Kiwanian of the Year Award in October 1979 and the Kiwanis Legion of Honor in June 1983. He was a member of the 100 Club of Connecticut. Mr. McCormack was founder and director of the First National Bank of Southwest Florida in Cape Coral, Fla., and chairman of the Advisory Board. He was lieutenant governor of the Florida Kiwanis Club Division 31 (1990-1991) and served on the Kiwanis Florida Board of Trustees. He was chairman of Florida Past Lt. Governors Assoc. and distinguished past president of Harney Point Kiwanis Club, Cape Coral (1994-1995). A member of Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral North, Cape Coral Volunteer Firemen's Assoc., the Knights of Columbus Council #7131, and the American Legion Post #0090, and B.P.O. Elks #2596, all of Cape Coral, Fla. Bob touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Angeline (Palladino) McCormack; four sisters, Vivian Bacon of Bristol, Ruth and her husband, Sal Catania of Rocky Hill, Judith Briggs and her husband, William, of Plainville and Arlene Hart of Meriden; a brother-in-law, Richard Palladino and his wife, Caroline, of Southington; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William B. McCormack, and two sisters, Marjorie Monzilla and Doris Birdseye.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. SCOTT B. DELUCA
LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. — Scott B. DeLuca, 41, passed away on Aug. 24, 1998, after a lengthy illness. Originally from Meriden, Conn., Mr. DeLuca had been a resident of Florida since 1978.
He was born in Meriden, March 12, 1957, a son of Willard E. and Shirley B. (DeFelice) DeLuca. Majoring in mechanical engineering at Bridgeport Engineering Institute and specializing in air conditioning technology at H. C. Wilcox Tech in Connecticut, Mr. DeLuca was employed by Temporale Climate Control in Waterbury. Mr. DeLuca was a special inspector with the Palm Beach County School District, West Palm Beach, Fla., owner and president of DeLuca's Air Conditioning Inc., Loxahatchee, Fla., HVAC service manager with Farmer and Irwin Corporation for several years and was with John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning WPB upon coming to Florida in 1978. He held certification with the Palm Beach County Contractors and the Martin County Contractors as well as a Certified Mechanical Plan examiner and Mechanical Inspector.
Mr. DeLuca was a master Mason belonging to Lodge No. 327 West Palm Beach. He also was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite. He was an avid bowler, receiving many trophies, as well as enjoying tennis, golf, and fishing.
In addition to his loving wife, Mara (Filipone) DeLuca, he is survived by his parents, Willard E. and Shirley B. DeLuca; a sister and brother-in-law, Judith A. and Donald R. Despres; a brother, Dan W. De Luca; two stepchildren, several nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

KENNETH G. IRISH
CHESHIRE — Kenneth G. Irish, 67, of 101 Far Horizon Drive, died suddenly Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Joy (Sewell) Irish.
Mr. Irish was born in Albany, N.Y., a son of the late George L. and Hilda (Girvin) Irish and was a 29- year resident of Cheshire. He was known for the past 25 years for his service to the town as being a member and vice chairman of the Cheshire Town Council and a longtime member of the Board of Education, as well as the Planning and Zoning Commission, up to the time of his death. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, having served as a member of the vestry of the church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a candidate for Cheshire State Representative at one time during his political career. At the time of his death he was self-employed as a human resource consultant in Cheshire since 1988. Prior to this, he was employed by several Fortune 300 companies, including AMF in New York from 1966 until 1977 with 25 years of management experience. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees and attended NYU School of Law. He was a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Industrial Relations Research Association. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four daughters, Laura Weick of Yardley, Pa., Kristin Irish of New York; and twin daughters, Jennifer Irish of New York and Judith Irish of Hartford; one sister, Sandra Seim of Albany, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Timothy and Madeleine Weick.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. MARY P. HAZARD
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Mary P. Hazard, of 101 Thelma Irene Drive, died Sept. 7, 1998. She was the daughter of Eve Pudvah and the late William Pudvah Jr.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Hazard; one son, Phillip J. Hazard of Somerville, Mass.; one daughter, Jennifer E. Hazard; and one sister, Cecile Norwood of West Brookfield, Mass.
Her funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, from the Lawrence E. Fagan Jr Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, R.I., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Exeter, R.I. Visitation hours are Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Fagan Jr Funeral Home. ROY E. OBERG
MERIDEN — Roy E. Oberg, 61, passed on to a greater place, Saturday, Sept. 6, 1998, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, with his loving wife, MaryAnn, and family by his side. He was the son of the late C. Rudolph and Elizabeth Dahlfors Oberg.
Roy leaves a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and William Masocco; and a devoted son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tracey Oberg, all of Meriden; three grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face and much joy in his life. Roy will be sadly missed by his longtime special friend in life and music, Lauren Hunpage, and his many extended family members. Roy was an avid model railroad fan and truly loved jazz music.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. ROBERT W. PELLERIN
WALLINGFORD — Robert W. Pellerin, 38, of Sigwin Circle, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Middletown.
Born in Meriden, Nov. 28, 1959, he was a son of Dorothy M. Wayland Pellerin of the Yalesville section of Wallingford. He was a graduate of Mark T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford and was a self-employed carpenter in the Wallingford area for many years.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Kristy L. Pellerin of Wallingford and Kaela M. Pellerin of Coronado, Calif.; a son, Robert G. Pellerin of Wallingford; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly J. and James O. Goodrich of Chester; a brother, William G. Pellerin of Wallingford; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Yalesville. CLAUDE S. TREMPER
WALLINGFORD — Claude S. Tremper, 81, of 603 Woodhouse Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1998, at his home. He was the husband of Roberta Johnson Tremper.
Mr. Tremper was born in Wallingford on Aug. 25, 1917, and was the son of the late Claude M. and Signe J. Tremper. A lifelong resident of Wallingford, he owned and operated Fairview Farm of Wallingford until his retirement in 1986. He had served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant for five years in World War II and was a member of Placid Lakes Country Club in Lake Placid, Fla.
Besides his wife, he leaves daughters Mary Ellen Julian of Wallingford and Beverly Tremper Prager and her husband, Richard, of Simsbury; a son, David M. Tremper of Wallingford; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Alexandra Prager. He was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia M. Tremper.
The funeral services will be private from the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be private in Northford Cemetery. ALICE BETTI
SOUTHINGTON — Alice Betti, 75, of 2 Cedar Road, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Attilio Betti.
Born Sept. 29, 1922, in New Britain, the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Winchell) Barnes. Mrs. Betti attended schools in Florida and had worked at the Stanley Works in New Britain until 1950. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. In the 1970s, she ran the baby-sitting program for the Southington YMCA. In the 1990s, she accompanied her husband delivering prescriptions to shut-ins for Serafino Pharmacy. She was a supporter of the Dance Art Centre Competition Team in Bristol.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Betti Norton and Robert of Londonderry, N.H., and Nancy Betti Serafino and Ronald of Southington; her grandchildren, Amanda and Katie Norton, Christina and Paul Serafino; an aunt, Helena Winchell; several nieces and nephews, especially Melanie (Shaw) MacDonald, Edward and Thomas Shaw. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Barnes.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forestville Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.
