Francis R. Jones
ROCKY HILL — Francis R. "Frank" Jones, 81, of West Street, formerly of Center Street, Wallingford, and New Haven, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in the Veterans Home and Hospital, Rocky Hill. He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen Farrington Jones.
Born in New Haven, Dec. 26, 1916, he was the last of four children born to the late Richard M. and Sibine Egan Jones. He had been a New Haven resident before moving to Rocky Hill in 1995. He had been the night foreman of the printing and composing department of the former New Haven Journal-Courier for 35 years until his retirement in 1975.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European campaign from 1942 to 1945, first in Liverpool, England, in the 30th Infantry Division, which was the second wave of the D-Day invasion in Southern France. He later trained in military intelligence at England's West Point in Shreverton and formed invasion teams for France, San Tropez and Normandy. He later served in North Africa and was assigned to the 45th Division and was one of the first American soldiers to liberate the town of Dachau and witness first-hand the horrors of the infamous death camp in April 1945. He had been a parishioner and extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at St. Claire's Church in East Haven and later Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 47 of New Haven and had been a member of the New Haven Irish-American Gaelic and Football Club and the Shelton End Football Club. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Lodge. He was a friend of Bill W.
Mr. Johns is survived by his nieces, Linda and Virginia Jones of Topsfield, Mass., MaryLee Rydzewski of Cheshire and Susan Crowder of McPherson, Kan.; and his nephews, Richard Jones of Westerly, R.I., Thomas Jones of Hamden, Robert Jones of Somerville, Mass. He was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Jones and two brothers, William Jones and Richard Jones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian burial, Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Ruth B. Kennedy
WALLINGFORD — Ruth B. Kennedy, 63, of 26 John P. Savage Commons, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of James W. Kennedy.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1935 in Colebrook, N.H., a daughter of the late Harry E. and Beatrice Bunnell Bailey. She was a commissioner for the Wallingford Housing Authority. A resident of Wallingford for 35 years, she was formerly from North Haven.
She is survived by two sons, James D. Kennedy of Wallingford and John H. Kennedy of Brooksville, Fla.; two daughters, Evelyn Alidia of Norwich and Allison Burke of Wallingford; two brothers, George Bailey of Sarasota, Fla., and Eugene Bailey of Wallingford; a sister, Barbara Spaltro of Meriden; eight grandchildren, Clinton Kennedy, Tricia Barre, James P. Kennedy, Metra Alidia, Sara Murphy, Joshua Kennedy, Jenna Kennedy and Chad Burke; two great-grandchildren, Harley and Alicia Hewlett. She was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Bailey.
The funeral service and burial will be private for the family. There are no calling hours. Ronald S. Kinard Sr.
COLCHESTER — Ronald S. Kinard Sr., 72, of 91 Colchester Commons and formerly of Meriden, husband of Rosemary (Mungavin) Kinard, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Nov. 10, 1998, at home.
Born in Red Lion, Pa., July 25, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Virginia (Matthews) Kinard and had resided in Meriden for 40 years before moving to Colchester in 1985. Mr. Kinard was employed by Armstrong Rubber Co. of New Haven in its corporate office for more than 25 years, until retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a participant in the invasion of Normandy. He was a baseball coach for Connie Mack Little League, the South Meriden Little League and the Babe Ruth League. He was a member of the American Legion of South Meriden.
Besides his wife, Rosemary, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane and Robert Jones of San Diego, Calif. and Colleen Kinard of Meriden; four sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Marie Kinard of Meriden, Brian and Sharon Kinard of Southington, Ronald Jr. and Laura Kinard of Meriden and Mark Kinard of Wallingford; eight grandchildren, Traci Tasto, Andrea Szymaszek, Michael, Kyle, Katherine, Allison, Sara and Kevin Kinard; a brother, Rodger Kinard of York, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home before the service, from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Joseph School Fund, 159 W. Rene Lamare
SOUTHINGTON — Rene Lamare, 69, of Hemlock Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of 45 years of Rinette (Daigle) Lamare.
Born Aug. 18, 1929, in Soldier Pond, Maine, a son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Saucier) Lamare, he was a Southington resident for the past 33 years. Rene was a communicant of Mary Our Queen Church. He was an employee of Meriden Construction for more than 33 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean War. Rene loved to fish and was a special PaPere to his eight grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Rinette, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Carey Beth Lamare of Southington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and Gary Liska of Cheshire, Gail and Kim Stavis of Barrington, N.H., and Debbie and Greg Nesta of Wethersfield; eight grandchildren, McKenzie and Stephen Stavis, Jesse, Amanda and Jake Liska, Nick and Carla Nesta and Melissa Lamare. He is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, who all reside out of state, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, on Friday, Nov. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at noon at Mary Our Queen Church. Pauline C. Russell
MERIDEN — Pauline C. "Paula" Schulze Russell, 73, of Blackstone Village, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in her home. She was the wife of the late Arthur James Russell.
Born in New Haven, March 27, 1925, daughter of the late Carl Edward and Justine Emma Schipper Schulze, she had been a Wallingford resident for 22 years before moving to Meriden 20 years ago. She had been employed as a secretary in the music department at Choate-Rosemary Hall Paul Mellon Arts Center in Wallingford for 15 years until her retirement in 1987. She had previously been employed by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad from 1942 to 1945 and later by the State of Connecticut Examining Board from 1947 to 1953. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Meriden and the Yalesville United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Budleski Post No. 9965 of Yalesville, and the American Association of Retired Persons No. 3036.
Mrs. Russell is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, the Rev. Eric Carl Russell and Elaine Russell of Morton Grove, Ill., Jeffrey James Russell of Meriden and Curtis Scott Russell and Anita Russell of Wallingford; and four grandchildren, Erica Lynn Russell, Timothy James Russell, Carly Lynn Russell and Adam Scott Russell.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held during the visitation hours at 7:45 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Fjeldal, pastor of the Yalesville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be private in the In Memoriam Cemetery. Stanley J. Rynaski
MERIDEN — Stanley J. Rynaski, 73, of Meriden, husband of the late Josephine (O'Donnell) Rynaski, died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden on May 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Boleslaus and Anna (Siemak) Rynaski. He was educated in Meriden and had been a lifelong resident. Mr. Rynaski was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was then a firefighter with the city of Meriden for 20 years. Stanley was a member of VFW Post No. 1148, Elks No. 1365 and the PLAV. He was also a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters No. 585.
Mr. Rynaski is survived by three sisters, Phyllis Wysocki of Farmington, Stasia (Pat) Cook of Meriden and Bertha Fajkowski of Florida; a special niece, Cathy Drouin of Windsor Locks; and by a dear friend, Laura Harkness, and her children, Amber, Ashley and Scott Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Valeria Savoie.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Pearl L. Barse
MERIDEN — Pearl L. Barse, 86, wife of the late Kenneth C. Barse of 77 Sunbright Drive, died Wednesday evening in Elim Park in Cheshire after a brief illness.
She was born in Chicago, Aug. 11, 1912, a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence Lathrop Johnsen. She was a resident of Meriden for the past 43 years. Early in her life, she had been the administrative secretary for American Airlines, after which she invested her time in raising her son. Later, she worked for many years for the W.T. Grant Co., until the store closed in the Meriden Hub. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Womens Church United. She also ran the Sunday services nursery for many years. She was a member of the Tri-Town Golden K. She had volunteered for the Registrar of Voters office during many elections. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother, known as Gram to most others.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. and Sandra L. Barse of Southington; three grandchildren, Kenneth C. and his wife, Susan Barse of Wethersfield, Dana W. Barse of Meriden and Lauren L. Barse of Plainville; four great-grandchildren, Kenneth R. Barse, Alyssa Barse, Jacqueline Barse and Nicholas Barse; two sisters, Georgene Hall of Illinois and Lucia Wilken of Wyoming; a sister-in-law, Margery Johnsen of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. A private interment with her husband will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Eva Barry
MIDDLEFIELD — Eva Barry, 72, of 219 Baileyville Road, beloved companion to Joe DeVito of Middlefield, died on Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness.
Born in Rumford, Maine, on May 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Arsanoe Surrette. She had resided in Meriden for 50 years before moving to Middlefield three years ago. She was educated in Rumford, Maine. Ms. Barry was employed by the International Silver Co. as an inspector until her retirement.
She is loved and will be missed by her daughter, Theresa Bouchard of Rumford, Maine; her son, Samuel Gallant of Springfield, Mass.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose May Grimard of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Teddy Surrette of Rumford, Maine; and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Raymond Bonell
DURHAM — Raymond Bonell, 84, of 235 Maple Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. He was the husband of Bernadette Kofsoske Bonell.
He was born in Meriden, Aug. 16, 1914, a son of the late John and Adele Reagen Bonell. He was the owner and operator of Raybon Manufacturing Co. in Wallingford until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Lions Club and an honorary member of the Durham Volunteer Fire Department and the Durham Fair Association. He and his wife were avid ballroom dancers and he was a caring, generous man, active in town affairs. He will be missed by many people.
Besides his wife, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Bonell and Harold Bonell and two sisters, Eva MacDonald and Florence Robinson.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave. Meriden.
The Rev. Dr. Robert Prescott-Ezickson will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden.
Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service.
If desired, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.
Dorothy Conlon
MERIDEN — Dorothy Hemingway Conlon, 73, of Meriden, died Nov. 11, 1998, after a brief illness.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Clifford R. Rollins
BRIDGEPORT — Clifford R. Rollins, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Connecticut Hospice.
Born in Meriden, Clifford was a Bridgeport resident for many years.
He is survived by a brother, Charles Rollins of New Hampshire; five sisters, Carol Perkins of Middletown, Rachel Schuler of Newington, Janice Prigitano of Meriden, Ilssa Yates of Ellington and Marjorie Schiemak of Cheshire; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held in Bridgeport.
