Brian C. Gomes
PLYMOUTH — Brian C. Gomes, 26, of 45 Orchard St., Terryville, fiance of Ann Merchant of Wolcott, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998 at home.
Born March 1, 1972, in New Britain, a son of Sarah (Hinton) Monahan of Bristol and Raymond Gomes of Wallingford, and stepson of Susan Gomes, also of Wallingford, he had recently moved to Terryville. He was recently employed as a carpenter for National Cabinet & Millwork in Waterbury. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He graduated from Goodwin Technical School in New Britain in 1990. He was an avid golfer. Brian was a devoted son and loving brother.
Besides his parents and fiance, he leaves two brothers, Derek Monahan of Bristol and David Gomes of Wallingford; three sisters, Kelly Monahan-DiNoia and Kim Monahan, both of Bristol and Katelyn Gomes of Wallingford; a paternal grandfather, Anthony Gomes of New Britain; an aunt and uncle, Thomas and Wendellyn (Hinton) Cosgrove of Bristol; a niece, Riley DiNoia of Bristol; and several cousins.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Joseph Church for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Plainville. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

James T. Maloney
WALLINGFORD — James T. Maloney, 61, died suddenly Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at his home on the Choate Rosemary Hall campus. He had been director of facilities services at Choate since 1993.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., he held a B.A. in business administration from Rochester Institute of Technology. He was, for many years, manager of facilities and maintenance for the Xerox Corporation in Rochester. In 1986 he joined the Madison, Conn., firm of Facilities Resource Management, a company that provides a wide range of facilities management services to more than 165 not-for-profit institutions. In that capacity he served as director of facilities operations at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., at Drew University in Madison, N.J., and at Choate. He was an active member of the Wallingford Chapter of Rotary International and a lifetime member of the Perinton, N.Y., VFW Post 8495. He was parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline VanGrol Maloney; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Debi; a son John, and fiancee, Susan Murray; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and William Phipps; two grandchildren, Molly Ann Maloney and Cullen James Phipps; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the John M. Hedges Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester. A funeral Mass will be held 11:15 a.m. Saturday at St. John's of Rochester in Perinton. Contributions may be made to the Al Sigl Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, N.Y. 14620.
A memorial service in the Seymour St. John Chapel at Choate will be at a later date.

Donald Pellerin
WALLINGFORD — Donald Pellerin, 67, husband of Pauline Lascelles Pellerin of 26 Sorrento Road, died Wednesday at home.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1931, in Waterville, Maine, a son of Henry and Rose Leclerc Pellerin of Burlington, Vt. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Before his retirement he was a tool maker at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven. A veteran of the Korean War, he was in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, he is survived by two sons, David J. Pellerin and Henry J. Pellerin, both of Wallingford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna M. Monroe and her husband, James, and Suzanne M. Mills and her husband, Aaron; two brothers, Lawrence Pellerin of Winter Springs, Fla., and Roger Pellerin of Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Theresa Pierce and Pauline Nichols, both of Burlington, Vt.; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory J. Pellerin.
The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford, Friday at 9:15 a.m. to the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, Conn. 06492 or the Asthma-American Lung Association of Connecticut, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, Conn. 06108.

Mary L. Simoncini
WALLINGFORD — Mary L. Fanesi Simoncini, 88, of Thorpe Avenue, formerly of Elizabeth Street, West Haven, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at the Lutheran Home of Middletown. She was the wife of the late Joseph Simoncini.
Born in Fano, Italy, Jan. 1, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Nazzareno and Amelia Bevilaqua Fanesi and was a New Haven and West Haven resident for many years until moving to Wallingford several years ago. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marie S. and John G. Cronin of Wallingford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith (Mrs. Peter) DiYanno of Ansonia and Eulalia (Mrs. Alphonse) Vitello of Derby. She was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Simoncini, three sisters, Helen Madorno, Jean Seversen and Lena Sticco, and a brother, Marcino Fanesi.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville, Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the Mount Carmel section of Hamden.

Mario P. Zazzaro
NAUGATUCK — Mario Paul Zazzaro, 52, of 55 Porter Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. He was the husband of Holly (Pender) Hynes Zazzaro.
Born Dec. 28, 1945 in Greensburg, Pa., a son of the late Rocco and Mary (Santorella) Zazzaro. He had been employed by Crown Theaters in Norwalk. Mr. Zazzaro served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Hope and its choir, and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International, Waterbury Chapter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dana Alan Hynes and Brian Matthew Hynes of Naugatuck; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Woolever of Indianapolis, Ind.; three brothers, George Zazzaro of Greensburg, Pa., Rocco Zazzaro of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Joseph Zazzaro of California; two sisters, Rosemary Bayus and Lisa Conte of Greensburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Brittny and Hunter Woolever; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington, with Pastor Bruce Shelley officiating. Burial will be at South End Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Church of Hope, 541 Wolcott St., Wolcott, CT 06716.

Bridget A. Cosgrove
WALLINGFORD — Bridget A. "Bridie" Kelly Cosgrove, 66, of High Street, died unexpectedly, Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John J. Cosgrove.
Born in County Clare, Ireland, March 7, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Bridget Griffin Kelly and was a Wallingford resident for 50 years. She was employed at Mary's Mane Attraction in Wallingford for several years and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.
She is survived by her beloved family, son and daughter-in-law, John K. and Ann M. Cosgrove of Wallingford; two daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary M. and James M. Gilson of Madison, Susan A. and Salvatore J. Scarpati of South Meriden and James Waldeck of Wallingford; four grandsons, who affectionately knew her as Bobby, Vincent Scarpati, Kevin Scarpati and Salvatore Scarpati Jr. and Chad Waldeck; four sisters, Tess Malone and Philomena Meade, both of Ireland and Betty McDonaugh and Sadie Kelly, both of England; four brothers, P.J. Kelly and Michael Kelly, both of Ireland and Thomas Kelly and James Kelly, both of England; and sister-in-law, Mary Doyle of New York. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rita Cosgrove Waldeck and a brother, Jack Kelly.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon, from the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford. The funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Ronald J. Granucci
WALLINGFORD — Ronald J. Granucci, 67, of North Whittlesey Avenue, former chairman of the mathematics department at Lyman Hall High School, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Ron was born in Wallingford, Aug. 27, 1931, a son of the late Frank J. and Helen Conway Granucci and was a lifelong resident here. He held a bachelor of science degree from Central Connecticut State University and had also attended Quinnipiac College, William and Mary University, Syracuse University and Columbia University. He had been a mathematics teacher at Lyman Hall for many years, where he was a mentor to the math faculty. He was a student advocate, having devoted many hours helping students to reach their potential. He had been the recipient of the National Science Foundation award twice, in 1962 to attend Syracuse University and in 1967 to attend Columbia University. He was a member of the Wallingford Education Association, the Connecticut Education Association and the National Education Association. An extensive world traveler, he had a great interest in the theater, especially musicals. He was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. Ron was a true scholar, a true music man and an avid bridge player.
He is survived by two brothers, Harold M. Granucci and Robert F. Granucci, both of Wallingford; a sister, Helen G. (Mrs. Charles M.) Thomas of Wallingford; 12 nieces and nephews, Tarn T. Granucci, Peter A. Granucci, Alison S. Granucci, Gregory C. Thomas, Christopher C. Thomas, Cynthia Thomas Buonocore, Cynthia Haines, Michael Granucci, Timothy Granucci, Thomas Granucci, Robert Granucci and Jay Granucci; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and many dear friends, including his special friend, Marianne Lacey of Wallingford. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Granucci Haines, a brother, Francis Paul Granucci and a niece, Melissa Haines Vollmer.
His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held during the visiting hours at 6 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Harold E. Johnson
SOUTHINGTON — Harold E. Johnson, 84, husband of Mary (Sloane) Johnson, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at a local convalescent home.
Born in Boston, he had lived in Southington for 47 years. He was the owner/operator for 46 years of Johnson's Tropical Fish. A merchant marine veteran of World War II, he served at the Battle of the Bulge. Active in the Boy Scouts of America, he was both a leader and scout master.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Patricia Johnson of Southington; four grandchildren, Robert, Steven, Eric and William; and three great-grandchildren, Danielle, Kevin and Shannon.
A graveside service with full military honors accorded will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 78 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051. The Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Kiss Sr.
WALLINGFORD — Lawrence Kiss Sr., 70, of East Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in the MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Florence Dembiczak Kiss.
Born in New York, Jan. 5, 1928, son of the late Charles and Florence Yasensky Kiss, he was a Wallingford resident for many years. He had been employed by the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company in North Haven for 33 years until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Kiss is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Christine and James McFarland of Wallingford, Loralei Kiss of Meriden and Rebecca Irish of Wallingford; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Lawrence Kiss Jr., Charles Kiss and Jon and Veronica Kiss, all of Wallingford; seven grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford.

Walter S. Lagocki
KENSINGTON — Walter S. Lagocki died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998.
Born in Meriden, he was the husband of Edith Bucchi Lagocki. Residing in Kensington for the past 38 years, he was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He served his parish as an usher at the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday and also volunteered at the St. Paul School library. During World War II, Mr. Lagocki achieved the rank of staff sergeant in the 3189th Engineer Battalion. He retired in 1988 as foreman of the tool and die shop at ABB Electro-Mechanics on John Downey Drive.
Besides his loving wife of 53 years, Edith, he leaves two loving children; a son Alan S. Lagocki and his wife, Beverly; a daughter, Janice L. Banasiewicz and her husband, Robert; three grandchildren, Adam Lagocki, Robert Banasiewicz Jr. and Scott Banasiewicz; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Lagocki and Ann Pizzonia; three brothers, John, Alexander and Stanley; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward. Walter was a good and gentle man dedicated to his family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at 9 a.m. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Kensington. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in his memory to any of the following organizations: Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc., 78 Eastern Boulevard, Glastonbury, CT 06033, John Dempsey Hospital, University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, CT 06030, The Palliative Care Program, Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour St., Hartford, CT 06102-5037 or St. Stanislaus School, 81 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.
Mr. Lagocki's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Palliative Care Center of Hartford Hospital for their compassionate assistance given to Walter during his final days.
