Ashley D. Sinopoli
MERIDEN — Ashley Dawn Sinopoli, 7, daughter of Anthony and Minda (Storey) Sinopoli of Meriden, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Ashley passed away peacefully in the arms of her mommy and daddy, with her Barney and Ticky, at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1991, in New Britain, and was a first-grade student at Benjamin Franklin School in Meriden and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Ashley was a member of the Girls Club of Meriden and loved cooking and to dance jazz. Ashley's personality attracted many friends who cherished her friendship. She touched the lives of her family, teachers and many friends. The memory of her will last forever with them all.
Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, Nicholas Sinopoli of Meriden. He will miss his big sister "I"; her maternal grandparents, (her Mimi) Delores Storey of Meriden and the late Charles Storey; her paternal grandparents, (her Nonna and Papa), Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Sinopoli of East Hartford; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.
"Ashley, I love you, you love me, we're a happy family with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you. Won't you say you love me, too?," Love, Mommy, Daddy and Nicholas.

Jack T. Trifilo
MERIDEN — Jack T. Trifilo, 78, husband for 55 years of Edith Moroso Trifilo, of 26 Pasco St., died in their home Friday, Dec. 4, 1998.
He was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Meriden, a son of the late Alfio and Mary Mase Trifilo, he had been a lifelong resident. Having worked at both Factory E and H, Mr. Trifilo retired from the International Silver Co., when Webster-Wilcox closed, after 40 years of employment. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a sergeant with the 336th Engineer Battalion, on Omaha Beach at the battle of Normandy on D-Day, for which he received the Croix de Guerre from the French government. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph Trifilo of Cheshire and Alfred C. Trifilo of Durham; three grandchildren, Jack Allen Trifilo, Amber Trifilo and Kelly Trifilo; two brothers, Philip J. Trifilo Sr. of Oneco, and Anthony R. Trifilo of New Orleans, La.; a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and William Dickson of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His family would like to acknowledge his two very special friends, Paul Pieciuk and Dean Hadden. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Anthony Trifilo.
His funeral will begin at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., with procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for his 9 a.m. funeral liturgy. He will be buried with military honors in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.

Paul A. Williams
COLUMBUS, Ga. — Paul Allen Williams, 60, of Columbus, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at his home after a three-year battle against cancer.
Mr. Williams was born April 20, 1938, and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He lived in Wallingford for approximately 20 years and was extremely active in Little League and youth basketball. He was also a respected and accomplished umpire. After working for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 25 years, Mr. Williams transferred to the Columbus, Ga., facility. After retiring, he focused on playing golf and enjoying the company of friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, and seven children, Paul, Jay, Sheila, Letitia, Alan, Lori and Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church in Wallingford.

Raymond A. Corpaci
MERIDEN — Raymond A. Corpaci, 80, husband of Josephine A. Mazzone Corpaci, of 38 Fourth St., died Nov. 17, 1998.
Ray Corpaci was a local restaurateur, having owned Johnny's on South Grove Street for many years.
He is also survived by a son, John A. Corpaci of Bristol; a grandson; and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Mr. Corpaci's family and friends are all respectfully invited to attend. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St.

Helen Griffin
MERIDEN — Helen Bridgett Griffin, 86, of Miller Memorial Community, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Gerald Griffin.
Born in Wallingford, Dec. 31, 1911, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Susan Rogers Bridgett, and was a Hamden resident for 36 years until moving to Meriden. She was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Wallingford Country Club and the New Haven Country Club for many years. She was a member of the Hospital of St. Raphael Auxiliary, the Gaylord Hospital Auxiliary and the Spring Glen Garden Club.
She is survived by two sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Robert) Brosnan and Mildred (Mrs. Peter) McLaughlin, both of Wallingford; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, Wednesday, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity School, 11 North Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492 or to Miller Memorial Community, 360 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Lorraine B. Nettis
WALLINGFORD — Lorraine B. Nettis, 66, of South Cherry Street, formerly of Middletown, wife of Sebastian Nettis Sr., died at the Middlesex Hospital on Friday after a brief illness.
Born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Fall River, Mass., daughter of the late Hector and Antoinette (Marchand) Damboise. She had been a resident of Middletown before moving to Wallingford 15 years ago. A member of St. Pius X Church in Middletown,
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Sebastian Nettis Jr. of Yalesville; three daughters, Susan Bruzy of Meriden; Donna Barone of Wallingford, Terri Goclowski of Clinton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Pius X Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Greater Chapter National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 1748, Hartford, CT 06144-1748.

Doris Parmett
MERIDEN — Doris (Rosenfield) Parmett, 90, died Dec. 5, 1998, in Shelburne Falls, Mass.
She was born in Lincoln, N.H., in 1908 and raised in Berlin, N.H. She was the widow of Irving Theodore Parmett, who died in 1975.
Mrs. Parmett graduated from Becker School of Business in Worcester and worked as a secretary until her marriage in 1931. She spent their earlier married years in Worcester and moved to Meriden in 1947. For many years she assisted her husband and kept the books for their liquor store in Meriden. Mrs. Parmett was an active member of Temple B'nai Abraham for the past 50 years and served as President of Hadassah, the Board of Education at the synagogue, and volunteered at the Meriden Hospital and the Curtis Memorial Library. In her later years, she traveled to Europe and Israel, attended opera classes through the Adult Education Program, attended performances at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, and participated in a Great Books Discussion Group at the Meriden Library.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Messinger and her husband, Shelly Messinger; her son, Richard , and his wife, Elaine; four grandchildren, Seth and Jonathan Messinger, and Karen and Ruth Parmett. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Lillian Cramer and Ann Sandys; and a brother, Joe Rosenfield.
Graveside services will be held Sunday Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. with in Temple B'nai Abraham Cemetery with Rabbi Jay Lapidus and Rabbi Dana Bogatz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John J. Ferry & Sons, 88 East Main St.

Rev. Alexis D. Riccio
WEST HARTFORD — The Rev. Alexis D. Riccio, 92, retired of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, Hartford, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.
Born in Sorrento, Italy, his family migrated to America and settled in Meriden where he graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School. He attended St. Thomas Seminary from 1922-1928 and attended St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Md., from 1928-1930. From 1930-1934 he attended Seminario Arcivescovile in Florence, Italy. He was ordained on June 3, 1934. From 1934-1936 he served as Curate of St. Sebastian's Church, Middletown. He then received an appointment to St. Lucy Church in Waterbury. In June 1937 he was transferred to St. Anthony's Church in Bristol, where he remained until his transfer to Holy Rosary Church in Bridgeport in June 1938. For several years, Father Riccio remained at Holy Rosary, after which he returned to St. Lucy's Church in Waterbury. On July 8, 1948, he received his first assignment as pastor of St. Anthony's Church Hartford, and in 1958 was named pastor of St. Patrick and St. Anthony Church, Hartford, retiring in 1981. From 1968-1978 he served as a commissioner of city planning for the city of Hartford.
He is survived by a sister, Rita Riccio of Meriden; a nephew, John G. Riccio of Worcester, Mass.; one great-nephew, Christopher Riccio; and one great-niece, Elizabeth Riccio.
The funeral is Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford, with a Mass of Christian burial with the Most Rev. Daniel A. Cronin, Archbishop of Hartford, as a principal celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. The family will also receive friends and relatives on Wednesday morning from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Patrick and St. Anthony Church. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Joan M. Sperzel
HAMDEN — Joan M. Carey Sperzel, 63, of 230 Treadwell St., died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at the Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven, after a brief illness. She was the wife of George F. Sperzel Sr.
Mrs. Sperzel was born in New Haven on Nov. 4, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Mel and Cathleen Wynn Carey. She was a resident of Hamden for the past three years, having moved from North Haven. She was a registered nurse in the New Haven area for several years.
She was the mother of Catherine Maietta of Meriden, George F. Sperzel Jr. and his wife, Marjorie, of Bellows Falls, Vt. and Michael Sperzel and his wife, Susan, of Ivoryton; six grandchildren; and many beloved friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. with the Pastor Robert Hass officiating. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Stefano Bertoldo
MERIDEN — Stefano Bertoldo, 95, of 110 Ione Drive, husband of the late Marta Izzo Bertoldo, died unexpectedly in his home Sunday morning, Dec. 6, 1998.
He was born in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., a son of the late Giovanni and Rosa Izzo Bertoldo. A short time after his birth his family went back to Italy. He returned to the United States, settling in Meriden in 1966. He retired from the State of Connecticut, having worked on the kitchen staff of the Undercliff Hospital for several years. When he lived in Italy he was a farmer and raised his family on land his family still owns. He was a veteran of the Italian Army between the world wars. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Giovanna and Giovanni Laurenza, with whom Mr. Bertoldo made his home; and a son and daughter-in-law, Antonio and Angela Bertoldo, also of Meriden; 12 grandchildren, Rosina Kevorkian, Antonio Laurenza, Stephanie Laurenza, Marta Bertoldo, Stefano Bertoldo, Joanne Paradis, Vincent Bertoldo, Anna Carabetta, Marta Lindell, Maryann Hagmeier, Lisa Daddario and Maria Geywily; 23 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Angelina Bertoldo and Josephine Bertoldo, both of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Giovanni Bertoldo and Cristoforo Bertoldo, and a grandson, Luigi Laurenza.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services beginning Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at 8:15 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., with his funeral liturgy celebrated at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He will be interred with his wife in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
