EAST LYME - Jesse R. Long Jr. 69, of Atwood Drive, Niantic died Tuesday at the Mariner Healthcare at Bride Brook, Niantic.
He was born November 2, 1933 in New London the son of the late Jesse R. Sr. and Helene White Long. He married Ethel Poulios in New London on November 2, 1957.
Mr. Long was employed for 41 years at Electric Boat in Groton.
He enjoyed coaching and teaching children. He coached East Lyme Little League, Babe Ruth, and Niantic American Legion Baseball for over 15 years. He also led and coached in the Catholic Youth Organization Basketball League. He was President of the Holy Name Society and a communicant of St. Agnes Church, where he taught religious education class for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of 45 years and his five children, Dennis of Niantic, Carol Luobier and her husband John of Salem, Donna Long and her husband Michael Tinker of Niantic, Thomas of New York City and Jesse III and his wife Jill of Waterford. 9 Grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Courtney, John, Stephanie, Alexa, Nolan, Kathleen and Weston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Friday at 12 Noon at St. Agnes Church, Niantic. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand St. Niantic. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Agnes Church 22 Haigh Ave. Niantic, Ct. 06357.
John, Salem

John Stroneski
Salem — John R. Stroneski Sr., 69, of 34 Fairy Lake Road, died Tuesday evening at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London. He was born in New London on March 24, 1933, the son of Charles and Helen Snoesky Stroneski.
He married Dorothy Mercier in Chicago, Ill., on April 2, 1960.
Mr. Stroneski served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955.
He worked for the City of New London as a maintainer for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of VFW Post No. 189 in New London.
Besides his wife, two sons survive him, John R. Stroneski Jr. of Boston, and Charles and his wife Donna Stroneski of Waterford; a daughter, Theresa, and her husband Scott Herbert of Waterford; a sister, Bertha Duran of Venice, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Stroneski, and Saxon and Samson Herbert.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Stroneski; and a sister, Elsie Eggleson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Quaker Hill. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday from the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London.
Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Helen, Waterford

Helen Evangeline Prestegaard Lipp, age 89, of Waterford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9th, 2003. She is survived by her husband: William L. Lipp; by her children: Julie Kuja, Kaethe Lewandowski, and Laurie Lipp; by her grandchildren: Erik, Kari, Kyle, Kyra, Krista, and her beloved dog Kelda.
The daughter of Gustave and Carrie Prestegaard, Helen was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 27, 1913. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska with a Master’s Degree in German and English. Helen taught school at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa before helping found Quincy College in Massachusetts and serving on the Board of Directors. Helen was an active member of her community serving as a volunteer at Quincy City Hospital and tutoring children in the Quincy School System. She was a long time church member at Bethany Congregational Church, Quincy, and in later years, enjoyed the fellowship of The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
Helen loved her family, cherished her friends and leaves her joyful essence with every one of us. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 12th at 1 O’clock at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme 2 Ferry Road Old Lyme. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours. Thomas L. Neilan& Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand St. is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service at the Bethany Congregational Church will be held at a later date and time.

George F. Frasco
MERIDEN — George Fred Frasco, 78, of 377 Curtis St., husband of the late Rose Helen (Postemski) Frasco, died on Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the Glastonbury Health Care Center in Glastonbury after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden on June 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Fred and Rose (Carabetta) Frasco. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was a graduate of Meriden High School. Mr. Frasco was the owner of Frasco's Poultry Farm in Meriden for more than 50 years, retiring in 1988. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Frasco is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Rose and David Christopher Paulson of Glastonbury; a sister, Florence Aresco of Meriden; and by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 19 Goodwill Ave., Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery
in Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106. All who have attended the services are invited to the home of Karen and David Paulson, 7 Green Briar, Glastonbury. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Robert H. Knickerbocker
CHESHIRE — Robert Henry Knickerbocker, 78, of 29 Westmore Road, died early Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Elenor (Kirsch) Knickerbocker.
Born July 2, 1920, in Waterbury, a son of the late Charles and Emma (Martin) Knickerbocker, he graduated from Leavenworth High School in Waterbury. He retired from the Siemon Co. in Watertown in 1988 after 30 years of service as vice president of engineering. After retiring from the Siemon Co., he remained on its board of directors. In the 1960s, he was very active in the Boy Scouts in Cheshire, Troop No. 93, and was also a former scoutmaster. Mr. Knickerbocker was a member of Liberty Continental Lodge No. 42 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Waterbury, the Lafayette Consistory, 32nd degree, Valley of Bridgeport, the Sphinx Shrine Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Hartford. He was also a member of the Ansantawae Lodge and the Noshahogan Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneers Association, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and American Legion Corporal Coyle Post No. 1. Mr. Knickerbocker was certified as a professional manufacturing engineer in the states of Connecticut and California, as well as Canada, and held more than 40 patents in telecommunications equipment and Canadian Council of Professional Certification in the field of manufacturing engineers. He was also a member of the Evergreen Club at Waterbury Hospital, the Woodsmen of the World, and American Association of Retired Persons for more than 20 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having been a gunnery instructor in B-29s.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Paul K. Knickerbocker of Wallingford and a daughter, Heather K. Chace of Watertown; and 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire, Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial service will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
Emily H. Kolevich
SOUTHINGTON — Emily H. (Jakob) Kolevich, 81, of Carter Lane, Plantsville, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alexander Kolevich.
Born in Meriden, Dec. 3, 1916, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Bernal) Jakob, she was a longtime Meriden resident before moving to Southington 16 years ago.
Emily is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Betty Kolevich of Southington; three granddaughters, Kathy Bunko and Christine Richter, both of Southington, and Karen Kolevich of New York; and four great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday. Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery
in Meriden. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Donations in memory of Emily may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492-7522.
Henry J. Lefevre
PROSPECT — Mr. Henry "Hank" J. Lefevre, 72, husband of Pamela (LeVasseur) Lefevre, of 75 Plank Road, died Saturday evening Nov. 28, 1998 at the Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Lefevre was born July 3, 1926, in Waterbury, a son of the late Henry and Elmira (Bownes) Lefevre. He was a retired employee of the Rostra Co. Inc. and formerly worked for Scovill Manufacturing Co. and Century Brass. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a past state commander of the VFW and a member of the Yalesville Post No. 9965 of the VFW, where he was quartermaster and permittee. He was a member of the American Legion and former fire lieutenant with the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Besides his wife, of Prospect, he is survived by a son, Henry A. Lefevre of Oakville and a daughter, Nancy Warner of Waterbury; four sisters, Lucille DeCarolis, Diane Mordino and Claire Ritucci, all of Waterbury, and Jean Lefevre of Middletown. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Lefevre and a sister, Barbara Cavallo. He also leaves four grandchildren, Robert Lefevre, Melissa Lefevre and Lindsey Lefevre, all of Oakville, and Paul Lefevre of Waterbury; a great-granddaughter, Alana Petrosky of Waterbury; and several nieces and nephews.
A military funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony's Church for a Mass at 9 a.m. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery
in Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2024 E. Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705.
The State of Connecticut VFW will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday evening for a veterans service.
Helen Brommels
BRANFORD — Helen Werner Brommels, 86, of Branford, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at her home. She was the wife of the late Carl H. Brommels.
Mrs. Brommels was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Easthampton, Mass., a daughter of the late Peter and Alice Niemac Werner, and had been a Branford resident for the past 67 years. She had been employed in the payroll office of the Atlantic Wire Co. in Branford for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine Mokosky of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford. Interment was in Tabor Lutheran Cemetery, Branford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity Church Preservation Project, 68 N. Colony St., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford.
Rosina Case
FORESTDALE, Mass. — Rosina Landis Case, 51, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at her family's home in Forestdale, Mass., after a long illness. She was the wife of Theodore W. Case.
Mrs. Case was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Lancaster, Pa., the daughter of Aubrey N. and Rosina (Wallich) Landis, both of Harwich, Mass. As a daughter in an Air Force family, she lived in Florida, Turkey and Bourne, Mass. She attended the University of Massachusetts after graduating from high school. She lived on Cape Cod until 1978, when she and her family moved to Connecticut. She and her husband owned and operated Chaps Restaurant in Wallingford until 1994. In 1995, they moved to the Denver area where they worked for Calileo International, a computer reservations system company.
Besides her husband and her parents, Rosina is survived by four daughters, Tiffany Rogers of Wallingford, Kristianna Case of Salem, Mass., Abigail and Juliet Case of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; her sister, Pamela Constantine of Forestdale; and her brother, Bill Landis of Aspen, Colo.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at John-Lawrence Funeral Home on Route 28 in Cotuit, Mass. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Federated Church on Main Street in Hyannis, Mass., where Rosina and her husband were married in 1975. Memorial donations may be sent to the Peter Black Research Fund, Boston Neurosurgical Foundation, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
