CJ Carrozzella

WALLINGFORD -- CJ Carrozzella, 17 of Ryan Drive, Wallingford, entered into rest on Monday, March 3, 2003 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the son of Christopher Carrozzella and Elisa Ferraro, both of Wallingford.

CJ was born in Meriden on Feb. 2, 1986, and was a lifelong resident of Wallingford. He was a junior at Xavier High School in Middletown. He enjoyed many sports, break dancing and discovered a love for all forms of dance.

Besides his parents he leaves a sister Andrea B. Carrozzella and a brother Luke Ferraro, both of Wallingford; he is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Jeanette Moller of Avon; his maternal grandparents, Carole Wheeler of Wethersfield, Ralph and Nancy Frenzilli of Sun City, Fla.; his maternal great-grandparents, Ina Dunne of Falmouth, Maine, George Carter of Staten Island, N.Y., and Lawrence and Gladys Frenzilli of Sun City, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, John A. Carrozzella.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 7, at 10:30 am in The Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. Contributions in CJ's memory may be made to Brain Injury Assoc. of CT, 1800 Silas Dean Highway Suite 224, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Melford Charette

SOUTHINGTON -- Melford Charette ,68, of 89 Dogwood Drive, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Edwina (Caron) Charette.

Born in Ft. Kent, Maine on March 13, 1934, the son of the late Alex and Delina (LaFrance) Charette. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Charette was store manager for Food Mart in Bristol for 33 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Linda Belanger, Gary Charette, Penny Barbour and Ricky Charette, all of Southington; three brothers, Leo Charette of Southington, Dana Charette of Canada, Clifford Charette of North Carolina; three sisters, Robertine Tomcak of Plainville, Geraldine O'Leary, Winifred Robinson, both of Maine; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Walker and Altine Charette; and a brother, Alex Charette Jr.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 11a.m. to 1p.m.

Johnston M. Connolly Sr.

WALLINGFORD -- Johnston M. Connolly Sr., of 55 Carriage Drive, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Myrtle Wodatch Connolly.

He was born in Penn Yan, N.Y., Nov. 20, 1932, a son of the late Ralph E. Connolly Sr. and Louise Eldredge Connolly. Mr. Connolly was a peacetime veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a mechanical engineer and cost estimator at the Revere Corporation of America until 1993 and retired from Winslow Automatics in 1997. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, a model railroader and member of the New Haven Society of Model Engineers. He was very interested in Nascar racing and was an avid Rusty Wallace fan and he also enjoyed camping.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Johnston M. Connolly Jr. of Waterbury and David A. Connolly and his wife, Patricia of Farmington, N.H.; two brothers, Ralph E. Connolly Jr. and Philip L. Connolly, both of Meriden; a sister, Nelleen Brauer of Dundee, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, 23 South Main St. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Friends may call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492.

John A. Ferrucci Jr.

SOUTHINGTON -- John A. Ferrucci Jr., 36, of 60 Briar Lane passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003.

Born on Feb. 1, 1967, he was the son of Caroline (Warzecha) Ferrucci of Southington and John A Ferrucci Sr. and his wife, Linda of Gulfport ,Fla.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his son, Tyler and daughter, Angella Ferrucci, both of Southington; brothers, Joseph Ferrucci, Drew Warren and Christopher Warren, also of Southington; maternal grandmothers, Helen Warzecha and Anna Ferrucci, both of Southington; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St., Southington has charge of arrangements.

Marlene Kirschman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Marlene Kirschmann, 56, died peacefully at home in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Her loving husband Harry was by her side.

Marlene was born in Rockland, Maine, Sept. 15, 1946, but later became a long time resident of Meriden. She was employed by the Kuhn Training Center of Meriden and later ran own small business called, Meriden Small Engine Repair, located in Church and Morse in downtown Meriden.

Besides her husband, Harry of Charlotte, N.C., she is survived by her mother, Arlene Reid of West Hartford; her daughter and grandchildren, Renee, Marc and Daniel Glenn of Clayton, Del.; her sister, niece and nephew Cindy Woodman of West Hartford, Heather Woodman of Middletown and AJ Woodman of Rockland, Maine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, Friday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, NE Division, 538 Preston Avenue, PO Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.

Tina Kozleuchar

BETHEL PARK, Pa. -- Tina Kozleuchar, 85, of Bethel Park, Pa., died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 in Wallingford.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Peckman of Wallingford and Mrs. Marion Cunniff of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Lynda Quigley and Jonathan Peckman; and great-grandsons, Justin and Dana Quigley.

Burial will be private. Donations can be made to MidState VNA and Hospice.

Frank J. Marietta

NEW BRITAIN --Frank J. Marietta, 91, of New Britain passed away Monday, March 3,2003. He was the widowed of Marie (Bonola) Marietta.

Frank was born in Vineland, N.J., son of the late Salvatore and Susan (Ruggerio) Maietta. He lived most of his life in New Britain. He was a member of ST. Ann Church. He was employed in the maintenance dept. of Central Connecticut State University for 47 years. He had been in the Physical Education and Athletic Department. Frank has long been known in the sports world having played semi pro basketball with the Panthers, a New Britain town team early in his youth. On a number of occasions his contributions to the Central Campus (CCSU) have been noted. The Class of 1956 dedicated the yearbook to him and the Class of 1959 remembered him with a appreciation page. In 1987 he was honored as the VFW Sportsman of the Year in New Britain. In 1982 , he was elected to the Central Alumni's Athletic hall of fame. A popular figure on the Central Campus, Frank has had a street named for him -Frank Marietta Drive- on the Campus of Central. Former student-athletes and coaches at the athletic functions and banquets had always recognized Frank. A former basketball player in the New Britain Industrial League , Frank became one of the area's top referees and in 1976 he earned honorary life member status from Central Connecticut Board No 6 of Approved Basketball Officials. In 1996 he was honored by the Connecticut Sports Writers Alliance with the 'Good Sport' Award. On February 18, 1978 during the half time of the thrilling Central upset over the University of Maine many friends, coworkers and people across the state came to honor him and to celebrate a special night. He was given a trip to Europe with the Alumni Association.

Frank is survived by one son, Richard E Marietta and his wife, Pauline of Southington; one daughter, Maureen M. Hermann and her husband, Thomas C., also of Southington; one sister, Rose Kozuch of Kensington; four grandchildren, Monica Marietta of Southington, Meredith Marietta Eisenberg and her husband, Todd Eisenberg of Colchester, Kelly Ann Payne and her husband, Wyatt Payne of Jackson Beach, Fla., and Michael Marietta and his wife, Jennifer of Wallingford; two great-grandchildren, Aryenna and Cody Marietta. He was predeceased by one sister, Frances Marietta; and one brother, Louis Marietta.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Ann Church, North St., New Britain Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the Kenney-Luddy Funeral Home, 205 South Main St., New Britain Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to The Frank J. Marietta Athletic Scholarship Fund. CCSU Foundation,(formerly known as the general scholarship fund) PO BOX 612 ,New Britain CT. 06050.

Eufrosina Massini

NORTH HAVEN -- Eufrosina (Eufra) Poletti Massini, 93, of 102 Manomet Ave., North Haven died on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the Talmadge Park Healthcare Center, East Haven. He was the wife of the late Albert Massini.

Born in Hamden on Nov. 8, 1909, daughter of the late Louis and Belinda Caranedo Poletti. She was a member of the former Mother Cabrini Society.

She was the mother of Robert and Joseph Massini; also survived by two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Poletti; and brothers, Suave and Pasquale Poletti.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven Friday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Peter Rakiec

NORTH HAVEN -- Peter Rakiec, 84, 113 Standish Ave., North Haven, died on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the Skyview Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Alice J. MacMichael Rakiec.

Born in New Haven on Oct. 19, 1918, son of the late Kostanty and Lena Trzeciekiewicz Rakiec. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 00591.

He was the father of Janet A. Clapez and her husband, John; grandfather of Jessica L. Clapez; sister of Bertha Luchuk, Mae Serfilippi and the late, Anna Rakiec Fox, and Anthony and Stanley Rakiec.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven Friday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
