James A. Knight
PLANTSVILLE -- James Arthur Knight, 55, of Plantsville passed on to eternal life on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of Marcella White Knight for 24 years.
He was a son of James Edward Knight of Waterbury and the late Juanita Knight.
He was employed for more than 26 years as a music teacher at Slade Middle School in New Britain.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a daughter, Markesha (Carmelo) Shetora Knight Gonzalez of New Britain; a son, Jason James Knight of Southington; two brothers, Douglas and Edward Knight both of Waterbury; three grandchildren and many other relatives and extended church family members.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11am at First Church of the Living God, 70 Whitney St., Hartford. Friends may call at the church from 10-11a.m. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Queen St., Southington. Following the interment, family and friends may gather for a repast at Slade Middle School, 183 Steele St., New Britain.

Alfred J. Liberte
MERIDEN -- Alfred J. Liberte, 57, of 32 Jerome Avenue and the former husband of Germaine Bouchard Liberte, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven.
Born Jan. 9, 1946, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Zaler Liberte. A longtime Meriden resident, Mr. Liberte was employed by the Holokrome Co. of West Hartford. He was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church, a Vietnam War veteran and a member of the VFW in Yalesville.
Mr. Liberte leaves a son, Alfred Liberte of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Lisa DuBois of Plainville and Michelle Haag of Meriden; a brother, Timothy Liberte of Lincoln, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Maryssa Tsolis of Plainville and Kyle and Tyler Haag of Meriden. A brother, Ronald Liberte predeceased him.
A memorial service for Mr. Liberte will be held Monday evening, Feb. 17, 2003, at 6 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street. Burial will be in Connecticut Veterans Cemetery
in Middletown at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
Ricky Pelletier
MERIDEN -- Ricky Pelletier, 28, died on Feb. 14, 2003, in Meriden.
Born in Hartford, Oct. 15, 1974, he was the son of Jean and Diane Gagnon Pelletier. He was a lifelong Meriden resident having attended local schools. Mr. Pelletier was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. He loved skateboarding and won several state championships, and also loved to draw.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Ava Hanson of Meriden; a sister, Vicky Ramirez of Meriden; and a niece, Brittney; and nephew, AJay. He also leaves several aunts; uncles; and cousins; and "Big Betsy"; and his girlfriend, Malissa Cooper.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at 9:15 from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his daughter, Ava Hanson, c/o Peoples Bank, 485 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450.
Elizabeth A. Simmons
LADERA RANCH, Calif. -- Elizabeth A. Simmons, 93, a resident of Ladera Ranch, Calif. and former resident of Meriden, passed away on Jan. 27, 2003.
She was a retired Registered Nurse and had a career in it for 37 years. She was also a loving parent and grandparent whom she devoted 100% to.
She is the widow of Edward Simmons. Her brothers, Louis and Paul Csenge preceded her in death as well as a sister, Margaret Csenge. She is survived by one son, Robert E. Simmons (Beverly) of Clearwater, Fla.; one daughter, Margaret M. Nouell (Tommy) of Ladera Ranch, Calif.; two sisters, Helen and Julia Boda of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Simmons, Stephanie McDougal (Donald), Brad Simmons (Wendy) and Karyn Knight (David); three great-grandchildren, Reiley, Taylor and Devin; and nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held in her honor, Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Lesneski Colonial Chapel, San Clemente, CA. Arrangements entrusted to Lesneski Mortuary, San Clemente, CA.
Frederic I. Hanscom
SOUTHINGTON -- Frederic I. Hanscom, 90, of 408 Main St. died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at the Summit at Plantsville. He was the husband of Mary (Ordway) Hanscom.
Born Nov. 1, 1912 in Providence, R.I., son of the late Frank and Mabel (Pray) Hanscom. He had retired from Fafnir Bearing.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Sylvia and Victor DiNello of Ladylake, Fla.; four grandchildren, Scott and Christian DiNello, both of Southington, Holly Zawacki of Meriden and Dawn Overturf of Lebanon; and four great-grandchildren.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Harold C. Lowe Jr.
MERIDEN -- Harold C. Lowe Jr., 79, of 179 Scott St., husband of Joyce Kineen Lowe, died on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at MidState Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in New Haven, March 15, 1923, he had resided in Meriden for most of his life. Mr. Lowe graduated from Meriden High School and was employed by the International Silver Co., retiring in 1979.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pamela Lowe of North Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Michelle Lowe of Meriden; and two grandsons, Craig, Jr. and Jesse. Mr. Lowe also leaves a sister, Shirley O'Brien of Meriden; a brother, Russell Lowe of Meriden; a brother, Russell Lowe of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home.
Pauline Pajeski
WALLINGFORD -- Pauline Kaczynski Pajeski, 95, a resident of the Skyview Convalescent Center, Wallingford, formerly of Gerrish Ave., East Haven.
Born Oct. 30, 1907 in New Haven a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Popielarczyk Kaczynski, she had been employed by the Seamless Rubber Co. and Evhlin Manufacturing from where she retired. Pauline was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven and its Ladies Guild.
She was the wife of the late William J. Pajeski Sr.; mother of William J. Pajeski Jr. of Northford and Eleanor Wassmer of Wallingford; sister of Helen Clement of North Haven and the late Gladys Miscio, Stella Coppola and Jane Paulsen. Also survived by six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Skyview Convalescent Center Patient Fund, 35 Marc Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
Isabelle G. Sobocinski
WALLINGFORD -- Isabelle Genivieve Sobocinski, 90, formerly of 79 Farm Hill Rd., , died Friday, February 14, 2003 at Masonic Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Henry A. Sobocinski.
Born in Bridgeport, June 24, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Martha Solomon Lesiewicz. Until her retirement in 1968, she was a secretary to the president of Albertus Magnus College, and, before that, to the Master of Morse College at Yale University. She was a founding member and past president both of the League of the Sacred Heart, St. Augustine's Church, Seymour, and the Seymour Garden Club. She was active in choral groups and gardening associations all her life. An avid athlete, she was National Junior Backstroke Champion in the 1920's, a golfer and tennis player. At the Masonic Healthcare Center, she was very active in both gardening and singing.
She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Gannon and her husband Michael of Wallingford; two sisters, Helen Smith and Beatrice (Betty) Frost, both at Masonic in Wallingford; and a granddaughter, Christina Gannon, of Washington , D.C. She was predeceased by a daughter Mary Martha; and by a sister, Irene Teerlog.
The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony Rd. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery
in Seymour. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Masonic Healthcare Center, Wallingford.

MERIDEN -- Due to inclement weather, services for Maurice Foran have been rescheduled. The Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Meriden with burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E.
