Dorothy Carter

SOUTHINGTON -- Dorothy (Standish) Carter, 86, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 in Florida. She was the wife of Frederick M. Carter.

Born in Pittsfield, Mass., on Aug. 30, 1916, she had resided in Southington for many years prior living in Meriden and Florida. Dorothy had worked at Serafino's Pharmacy, Phil's Restaurant, and also Grand Union, Lewis Farms, and Lori Engineering while living in Southington. She was an avid square dancer and bridge player and loved to travel.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Doreen Standish, of Washington , Gary Standish of Wyo., Joseph Standish of Ga., and Priscilla Badgley of Florida; four step-children, Mary Johnson, Steven Carter, Jonathon Carter and Michael Carter; her cherished grandchildren, Melanie Bobrowiecki, Jill Irish, Rick Badgley, Joseph and Jay Standish, Daniel and Kasia Standish, Tyler and Marcie Standish and Dagan McAtee; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Standish.

The funeral will be held on Monday at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 201 West Main St., Meriden at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 9365 U.S. Highway 19 North, Pinellas Park, Fla., 33782.

Arline B. Dietle

NEW HAVEN -- Arline B. Paecht Dietle, 93, of Beverly Road, Westville section of New Haven, beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Dietle Sr. died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in New Haven, Dec. 6, 1909, a daughter of the late Otto and Ottlie Eisenbart Paecht, she was a lifelong resident.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald J. Dietle Sr. and Jerrine H. Dietle of Wallingford and Joseph F. Dietle Jr. and Joan M. Dietle of Peach Tree City, Ga.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Florence Demmons, Dorothy Parmalee, Marion "Marie" Johnson and. Eunice Bort; and a brother, Fred O. Paecht.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Visiting Nurses Association of Wallingford, 135 No Plains Industrial Park, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Leonard J. Dombroski Sr.

NORTH HAVEN -- Leonard Joseph Dombroski Sr., 85, of 160 Warner Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at the Masonic Healthcare Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of Mary Mahalik Dombroski.

Mr. Dombroski was born in Wallingford on Oct. 28, 1917, a son of the late Joseph and Mamie Mrozowski Dombroski. He was a foreman for the engineering department at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1982. He previously owned and was vice president of the former Lenton's Service Station Inc. of North Haven for 10 years, and before that, he worked as a foreman at the former High Standard Firearms Co. of Hamden. Mr. Dombroski served as a North Haven Police Auxiliary for 30 years and was a member of the Ridge Road Senior Center, North Haven.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Janice Coyle and her husband, Matthew of Wallingford; a son, Leonard J. "Chuck" Dombroski Jr., and his wife, Carol of North Haven; a sister, Frances Janeczek of Wallingford; three grandchildren, Dr. Brenda Coyle and her husband, Dr. Robert Franks of Hamden, Krisann Miller and her husband, James of Wellesley, Mass., and Michelle Hurteau Tripp and her husband, Scott of Branford; and two great-grandchildren, Shamus Matthew Miller and Bridget Patricia Miller. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Dombroski; a granddaughter, Patricia M. Coyle; and a great-granddaughter, Avery Coyle Franks.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Peter and Paul Church, Wallingford. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patricia M. Coyle Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Ellen Downes, 157 Natchaug Drive, Meriden, CT 06450.

Antonina Kisiel

MERIDEN -- Antonina Kisiel 83, of Marlson Road, Meriden wife of the late Josef Kisiel died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 19,1919 in Eastern Poland, to the late Bronislaw and Josef Kapuscinski. She was parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.

She is survived by two sons, Michael and Christine Kisiel of Wallingford and Henry and Lisa Kisiel of Branford; two loving sisters, Jadwiga Galka of Meriden and Leontyna Opak of New York; two grandchildren, Michelle and her husband, Patrick Roche of Massachusetts and Sherri Mengual of Meriden; one great-grandchild, Bethany Roche. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Maria Zawalich.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church 82 Akron St., Meriden with the Rev. Edmond S. Nadolny officiating. Burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations in Antonina memory be made to the Meriden VNA and Hospice 658 Broad St., Meriden 06450 for the great care and support given to Antonina. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home 189 East Main St. Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lucian J. Labieniec

SOUTHINGTON -- Lucian J. Labieniec, 83, of 57 Birchcrest Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at home. He was the husband of Anna (Bak) Labieniec.

Born in New Britain on Jan. 7, 1920, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Suprynowicz) Labieniec. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Since 1958, he has been a Southington resident and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. He was currently employed as the director of operations at Aerocess Inc. in Wallingford, was formerly employed by Brophy Metal Products and had retired from Pratt & Whitney where he worked for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Falcons Club, Calendar House and the AARP.

Besides his wife of 59 years, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Laurie Labieniec of Bristol, William and his wife, (Laura) Labieniec of East Haddam; a brother, John Labieniec of Meriden; three sisters, Mary Kiejko of Enfield, Helen Corrigan of Atlanta, Ga., Ceal DiFrancisco of Plainville; five grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, Sarah, Jill, and Nathan Labieniec; a great-granddaughter, Dominique. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Parsons; and brothers, Stanley, Edward and Henry Labieniec.

Funeral will be Saturday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington to Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Rev. Richard W. Manns

BARNSTABLE, Cape Cod -- Rev. Richard W. Manns, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 in Hyannis. He was the husband of Donna (DiPietro) Manns.

Born July 13, 1924 in the Bronx, N.Y., attended Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., graduating in 1947. From 1947-1951, he was the minister for Grace Lutheran Church in Queens Village, N.Y. From there, he moved to Dedham, Mass., where he was the minister at St. Luke's Lutheran Church until 1972. Then moved to Meriden, where he was the minister at St. John Lutheran until 1994. From 1996-present, he was the minister at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mashpee, Mass. He was a 55 years of ministry in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He was a member of Kiwanis, Cape Cod Post-Polio Support Group, and a volunteer Chaplin at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy R. of Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Andrew M. of Peterborough, N.H.; two daughters, Ruth E. Schubkegel of Kansas City, Mo., and Elizabeth E. Martin of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; also survived by seven grandchildren; seven nieces; and three nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, East St. Dedham, Mass. A visitation will be held Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, Mass. A burial will be held at a later date in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14 Cape Drive, Mashpee, Mass 02649; the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450 or the Nature Conservancy, Wold Wide Office, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, Va.

Jessie F. Pacileo

WALLINGFORD -- Jessie Ferraiolo Pacileo, 94, beloved wife of the late Vincent Pacileo Jr., of East Center St., Wallingford, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

Born in New Haven, Feb. 21, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano and Santella Abbenante Ferraiolo and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She was the co-proprietor of the Sondale Dress Factory in Meriden for many years until her retirement and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Louise and Frederick Becker of Durham and Barbara Sova of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, Vincent G. and Patricia Pacileo of Burlington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Gen Hamelin and her brother, Tom Ferraiolo, both of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters, Marianna Mancini, Lucy Vozzella, Camilla Ferraiolo, Anna Sarro and Fannie Zytlin; and four brothers, Anthony Ferraiolo, Jack Ferraiolo, Pat Ferraiolo and Sal Ferraiolo.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers gifts in her memory may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care, 33 North Plains Industrial Park, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Judith E. Tubiak

WALLINGFORD -- Judith Erdos Tubiak, 60, of Balsam Road, Wallingford, beloved wife of James S. Tubiak died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Wallingford, Sept. 1, 1942, a daughter of the late Steven Erdos Sr. and the late Gertrude Wustrack Erdos, she had been a lifelong resident. A Pharmacy Technician she and her husband James had been the co-proprietors of the Metcalf Drug Store in East Haven for 25 years.

Besides her husband, James, she is survived by her two daughters, Christine A. Tubiak of Bryn Mawr, Pa.and Deborah J. Tubiak of Marietta, Ga.; her sister, Trudie Cardone of Westbrook; and her brother, Steven Erdos Jr. of Wallingford.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in Center Street Cemetery, Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Connecticut Humane Society, 700 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.

Mary C. Artkop

MERIDEN -- Mary C. (Zdancewicz) Artkop, 82, of South Colony St., departed this life suddenly to be with our Lord on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, while surrounded by her loving family at MidState Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Roman P. Artkop.

Born in Girardville, Pa., on Feb. 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Zdancewicz. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Artkop was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a former Columbianette of the daughters of the Knights of Columbus. She was also a registrar of voters, a dedicated Bingo player and an avid Little League sports fan.

She is survived by her loving children, Paul Artkop of Kensington, Ronald Artkop of Meriden, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bubello (Gloria Artkop) of Meriden, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pasieka (Diane Artkop) of Ivoryton, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Artkop of Meriden, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hadvab (Elizabeth Artkop) of Orwell, Vt., Karen Voytek (Artkop) of Middletown, Mr. and Mrs. David Artkop of Sudbury, Vt.; she is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; she leaves behind her sister, Irene (Rene) Emery of Wallingford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis Duncan (Zdancewicz), Victor Zdancewicz; and her sister, Viola Zdancewicz.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In loving memory of Mary Artkop, the family requests that you take time to help others in your community who are in need.
