Halford P. McLane
Halford P. McLane, a New Canaan resident since 1966 and a Niantic resident, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001 at Stamford Hospital. He was 61.
He died following surgery and treatment for kidney cancer, according to his family.
Born Nov. 22, 1937, in Portsmouth, N.H., he was a son of Priscilla McLane of Portsmouth and the late Howard McLane.
He graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1957 and the University of New Hampshire in 1961, where he played baseball. He was a teacher in the science department at Portsmouth Junior High School, a principal at Barrington, N.H., and a science teacher at Nathan Hale Junior High in Norwalk.
Mr. McLane worked for many years as a science teacher at Saxe Junior High School in New Canaan, where he also headed the science department.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge F. & A.M. in Portsmouth, and North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, where he often participated in youth activities and later taught Sunday school.
He holds the honor of pitching the first baseball at the opening of the Portsmouth Little League in 1950.
Mr. McLane was an avid sailor, racing and cruising out of the Kittery Point Yacht Club and Portsmouth Harbor, both in New Hampshire, as well as the Darien, New London, Old Saybrook and Norwalk areas.
He worked as head of public relations for the Source Library in Darien. He co-directed the New Canaan City-Country Vacation Program at New Canaan Country School, which is the predecessor of the Horizons Program.
Mr. McLane served as an officer and president of the Connecticut Dog Federation, and was an active member of Ox Ridge Kennel Club in New Canaan.
He headed the board of Genesis, a anti-drug program in New Canaan and was a member of New Canaan's Park and Recreation Commission. He donated money to provide the first defibrillator to the New Canaan Police Department.
Mr. McLane retired in 1989 to pursue a career in antiques and show management in the greater New England area. He managed antique shows for the Kiwanis Club in New Canaan and Greenwich, as well as other towns in Connecticut. He was an active exhibitor and lecturer in the field of Georgian and American silver, Chinese export porcelain and fine period furniture. He owned H.P. McLane Antiques in Darien.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jane Morse McLane of New Canaan; a son, Marc Rawlins Cardwell of Vienna, Va.; and a grandson.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at the Franklin Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at New Canaan Congregational Church, and at noon Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001 at the North Congregational Church Chapel, Spinney Road, N.H.
Burial was private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McLane Family Endowment Scholarship Fund, University of New Hampshire, Alumni Office, Durham, NH; the New Canaan Nature Center; or the Center for Hope, Darien.
Janet Dennis
Janet Dennis of Norwalk, a former resident of Port Chester, N.Y., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at home. She was 71.
She died of a heart attack, according to her family.
Born May 21, 1929, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of the late Edwina and Preston Brinney.
Mrs. Dennis was a seamstress at Bell Docks in Norwalk.
She is survived by three daughters, Terri Howard of Norwalk, Patricia Dennis of Philadelphia and Ro Booker of Greenwich; a brother, Preston Brinney of Tobyhanna, Pa.; a sister, Mariette McClain of Port Chester; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Dennis; and her second husband, Walker Strother.
Calling hours will be 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Downer Funeral Home, 75 East Ave., Norwalk.
A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Glen Burnie, Md.
Jeanne L. McGoldrick
Jeanne L. McGoldrick of Hampstead, N.C., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 at Hospice Lower Cape Fear in Wilmington, N.C. She was 67.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Sept. 20, 1933, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Christine Lotticy.
Mrs. McGoldrick graduated from Stamford High School and Merrill Business School and lived in Fairfield County for 62 years. She lived in Westport for 23 years, working as a builder and a real-estate broker. She built custom homes and was Fairfield County's only female builder during the mid-1970s and early 1980s. Her work was recognized by magazines such as Profile, as well as area newspapers.
She is survived by her husband, Edward T. McGoldrick of Hampstead; a son, Edward T. McGoldrick Jr. of Lafayette, Ind.; two daughters, Cheryl McGoldrick of Norwalk and Karen E. Zembroski of Farmingdale, Maine; a sister, Linda Carlucci of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two aunts; and two grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford.

Josephine Mancusi DeRosa
Josephine Mancusi DeRosa, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. She was 85.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Angela Maria Mancusi.
Mrs. DeRosa was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph DeRosa of Stamford; a daughter, Rosemarie Quaranta of Fairfield; a son, Joseph DeRosa of Trumbull; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a nephew.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Germano and Margaret Zito; and three brothers, Leonard Mancusi, Charles Mancusi and Anthony "Tony" Mancusi.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, for Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.

Pasquale Nizzardo
Pasquale Nizzardo, a Stamford resident for 37 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at home. He was 75.
He died of respiratory failure, according to his family.
Born July 27, 1925, in Settefrati, Italy, he was a son of the late Ludovigo and Maria Tamburro Nizzardo.
Mr. Nizzardo was a construction laborer in the Stamford area for many years. He served as a paratrooper with the Italian forces during World War II. He was a member of the Settefratese Social Club and an avid bocce player.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Conetta Nizzardo of Stamford; two sons, Maurice Anthony Nizzardo and Anthony Louis Nizzardo, both of Stamford; a sister, Frances Vitti Nizzardo of Stamford; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Michele Nizzardo, Mariano Nizzardo, Pio Nizzardo and Philip Nizzardo; and two sisters, Antoinette Nizzardo and Gerarda Socci Nizzardo.
Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.
Burial will follow in St. John's Mausoleum in Darien.
Robert L. Jenney
Robert L. Jenney of Medford, Ore., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2001 at home. He was 86.
He died of prostate and bone cancer, according to his family.
Born March 21, 1914, in White Plains, N.Y., he was the son of the late Albert and Clara Jenney.
Mr. Jenney attended school at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in Stamford from 1949 to 1992. He was a free-lance illustrator, drawing pulp adventure magazines, comic books and children's books. The past 20 years of his career were devoted to illustrating educational film strips for Xerox and other companies.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attached to joint Naval Intelligence overseas. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory Jenney of Medford and Robert Jenney of San Mateo, Calif.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris K. Kilbourne Jenney.
Burial was held in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.
Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford handled arrangements.
